OUCH! That was a sore defeat. Three consecutive losses is not exactly good preparation for a CL Qualifier. These guys need to wake up. I know it's all pre-season stuff and a chance to try things out but since when was developing a losing habit considered a good thing?

Agree with you Chris, I know it is only pre-season and match fitness is the key, however three defeats on the bounce ain't good. Hopefully tonight Neil Lennon would have gave the players a wake up call after that defeat. Ian L

Pumped again! Neil really needs to look at a few of his players it looks like some don't want to be there. Doesn't help that year on year we buy defender after defender none ever seem totally convincing.

Pre season games not going too well. Never mind onwards and upwards. Julieghirl

That was disgusting tonight celtic, absolutely disgusting. Not one of those players deserve to wear the jersey against Cliftonville. It isn't an over-reaction. Greuther Furth had more shots in 1 game than we have had in 3. Kris Commons on at half time and done. Nothing. Amido Balde.we'd be better with Bobo Balde. Defending was disgraceful. Lennon and Mjallby. 2 defensive players, yet it is the weakest part of our team. Aye we got to last 16 in Champions League. Beat Barca, but our domestic performances were dodgy at best. I hope, that Cliftonville doesn't become this squads Artmedia or Neauchatel Xamax

sorry ed. rant over

Agree0 Disagree0

Everything you said is true, apart from not beating cliftonville.
As I don't buy into this pre-season pi55, fitness only comes into when effort is put in and there was none in the second half tonight, and none in the 2 games before. Fri nights team will be closer to who plays nxt wed and hopefully the tempo is higher.
People that say its a friendly have never played the fu@kin game, 2 teams start 2 teams finish, seams that some are happy to come off beaten!
Just because were in against the dross of what we play in and its a shoe in that we will win it doesn't take away the fact that guys aren't trying, win, lose or draw!

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt see the game so can't comment, but yes the result sounds pretty shocking.

CELTIC (3-5-2): Forster (Zaluska 46); Mouyokolo (McGeouch 67), Virgil (Henderson 46), Wilson; Lustig, Kayal, Mulgrew (Commons 46), Izaguirre (Waters 76); Rogic; Stokes (Amido 67), Samaras (Atajic 67)

Mate, I literally can't watch these pre season games anymore for the sake of my sanity. I get the hump when I'm on the losing side at 7's on a Friday night and even more wound up If my team are being beat and our opponents are giving us a hiding and taking the piss so I just can't comprehend being out there in that strip and not running myself into the ground when we are being beat. Everytime we broke away they committed a clever foul, pulling a shirt or clipping someone's heels knowing the ref wouldn't be throwing cards about but we just weren't clever enough to do the same. Apparently Lennon was on twitter tonight defending the team, would it have not been better to say nothing and let the players sit and think about it opposed to basical letting them off with what was a pathetic showings. No heart isn't a term that's usually used when summing up a friendly defeat and even though that's what I feel they lacked tonight at times maybe a better way to put it is, where is your professional
pride Celtic? Where was the show for our traveling fans? What about the interest Celtic are trying to gather for pre-season tours and tournaments? I for one am cancelling my premier sports subscription as I'm not sitting watching that sort of inept half hearted pre season sh*te again so this tour coupled with the memories of last seasos early friendlies have put me off now and have given me the opposite effect of what Celtic fc are after from the supporters.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bigbadjohn. I like your style. Summed up nicely. 3 defeats against pish poor sides and we looked like amateurs ourselves in all 3 games.
The team needs to change it's attitude now. Next week will come quickly. And I can't believe that we have even the remotest concern about Cliftonville but our recent performances have given us plenty of cause to feel that way.

Heres a few footballing cliches. Its only preseason. its about getting match fitness. The boys have got to run the rustiness out of their legs. Its let's the manager try a few new formations. Its about getting back to match sharpness. It let's the boys blow the cobwebs away. Its a great time to blood the youngsters. This will prepare us for the qualifying games. I don't pay attention to the scoreline its individual performances that matter. This is more for the sports scientists than the football. Well heres the last cliche from a shocked fan. What a load of Sh*** that performance was. Pre season bah humbug. Sopotcelt.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Does no one else think we should give Wanyama a contract extension with more money and build the team around him, he's the reason we did well in europe last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling Wanyama actually encouraging him to leave is a disgrace. CFC will reap the whirlwind. Sopotcelt.

i don't read nowt into pre season games, anyone remember Arsenal humping us 5-0 or 5-1 at CP, may have been 88 the double year, although fitness tonight looked alarmingly in short supply,,, Algarvebhoy

Well, I have no idea what to say after that, it might be a friendly but that was nothing short of embarrassing against a really poor German side.

Saying we should have shipped 10 goals is far from an understatement

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Friendly or not score lines like that chip away at celtics reputation that was shocking dm

pre-season or not, friendly or not, that performance was a shambles.people went out to watch that. not good enough.

09 Jul 2013 19:57:44
Pathetic performance tonight. That wasn't your regulation pre season odd goal defeat, that was a f*ckin hammering. I'm not exaggerating when I say they could have scored 10. The ref was an embarrassment to his profession but even given that we were an embarrassment.

Anyone giving it the friendly doesn't matter talk didn't see the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could not agree more, pathetic, lazy performance with Europe a week away, as said should and could have been 10. No excuses.embarressing is being kind to that unacceptable pish tonight!!!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

In the grand scheme of things you would normally say its a friendly what harm did it do really? What about confidence and morale? what about how really really bad some of those individual performances were? what about the tactics that weren't working from within 10 minutes of the start but were never changed? what about how many players finished the game playing out of position? Again apart from a reminder to the players that they are no world beaters and some gained fitness on the pitch there isn't a single positive thing you could take from that tonight. I won't be watching another friendly pre-season game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree.! Last 3 game have been embarrassing. Commons is one of the fattest pro football players ever in history. And some of the youngsters at celtic are tragic.

DundeeMichael

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't matter if it was seen or not, fact is it was a friendly.

Not a pretty friendly but still a friendly. Defence still needs sorting if this is anything to go by ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes it was a pre season kicking but it matters how? This is all about fitness.Somebody posted that the fitness specialists will have a say in who plays, I agree with this. I would expect the next team will be the European picks. I will admit to not watching all the game, but it was a pre season friendly and meant nothing mate. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

I watched the game celtic players looked knackered ref gave 2 non penalties but the german side played well. disappointed with the scoreline but honestly not worried at all as it was only a friendly a training match calm down folks

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't see the game no name, but friendlies don't matter . what was the score, and who gives a f*** . shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

I've read on hear how this year is going to be as big one for Rogic, Kayal and young Dylan. Going on tonights performance they are a million miles away from the Celtic first team. Without Broony, Super Joe and Vic we are utterly clueless. That wasn't just as per season defeat, that was a serious pumping.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Joeshmo,, I know we are going to win the league and so do plenty others as its mince, so happy to take a back seat when a humping comes round! See what gets said when there's no progression if that's what the board are comfortable with? Unrealistic and have been for a while.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Cringeworthy viewing, Wilson does not inspire at all in there, mulgrew at 2nd goal? Wtf. Commons first touch really bad, straight to German, Mcgeough at right back! Why? Not the build up to next week we need, pathetic viewing started off well then shambolic
3 at back didn't work,

OP is right that's not a friendly that a kick up the arse and around the park. Not saw it so can't comment on how it was played but usually the final score tells the story 6-2 tells me we need to get up to speed fast before champions league games come & go.

Half time 3-2 down to Greuthur Furth, decent game. Our defence looks rank rotten but its only pre season. I have to say though after all the slavver I hear about him Tom Rogic he has yet to do anything at all of note in a Celtic jersey to impress me. I've seen him play maybe 7 or 8 times now whether it be starting or more often coming on as a sub and he seems to be very lazy. Won't track back, can't tackle and for a boy his siza just seems to disappear in games.

Hope he can show us something soon and come onto a game. Doubt it will be in this match as he'll be hooked at half time or just after if he plays the same in the 2nd half.

I realise he only 21 in December but that's hardly a kid, albeit I appreciate he's still regarded as a young player.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have always thought Rogic has shown enough, but is not playing in his natural position, forward midfield. He should be used just off a front one or two.He has a nice touch and can see a pass, where he is he has to cover back too much.We need a link player to break quicker and I think he could do the job. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom rogic would be better if he had the ability to use his right foot. Too one sided. Always goes left. after 10 mins a team will pick up and move him onto his right foot where he'll lose it because he is uncomfortable there

We any news any incoming transfers? It's been a little quiet the last few days and I thought we would have started on bringing in the 3 rd new recruit by now?

SOS BHOY

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lenny said in an interview that he is waiting till victor leaves before going back into the market. So it a case of wait and see I think mate.

Darrenbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes let's sell Victor and make 15m. Then we can lose a whole lot of fun and excitement by failing to qualify for the CL and lose 25m into the bargain. Perfect business sense. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

I seen the statement regarding renewing other players contracts but if that's the route they want to go down considering the revenue we have brought in then its an effin joke (again)
The board need to help Lennon out, by the time Wanyamas fee gets split to wages and take into account the 2 new guys and unfortunately Mouyokoulo if it goes through there no much change to bring someone decent in for the forward options! 30mil not including Wanyama and nothing being put back into the team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's a bit poor wishing that on anyone. He's a young man and hopefully learns as he goes. But to wish an end to his career is just heartless and is certainly not the way is expect Celtic fans to behave.
