Was just wondering what u all thought about big Johan's comments about balde before today's game? Pukki deserves a kick up the arse but how can u give balde the same treatment when he isn't getting a game? He scored a cracker tonight but I feel for the big man, him and rogic have been short changed because Lennon wants the same players on the field week in week out! Let's hope the squad starts getting rotated in the second half of the season.

Can only assume there not showing up to well in training

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough, there was some changes from the squad last night. But out of the Starting XI, six (Matthews, Izzy, Ambrose, Virgil, Forrest, Broony) start every week; Pukki starts every other week. Mulgrew, Ledley, Commons came off the bench. That's 10/18 who would've been in contention to play against Killie in the league at the weekend if we weren't playing in Turkey. I thought this midseason break was to give the youth a chance + the first team players a rest?

Agree0 Disagree0

HB

If lenny was to play all fringe and young players and we got humped, the usual doom and gloom guff would be on here again

Be happy. nice win, goals for the strikers and no injuries

Dannybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Just think the man is being very hypocritical. His words in December were:

"We have had a very heavy schedule in the first half of the season. We found the benefit of having the winter break last year. It gave us a chance to give some players a much-needed break and give opportunities for players to come back quicker from injury. When we came out of the winter break we were flying again so it was very beneficial."

Last night wasn't a break for the 10 first team regulars players who played some part last night. Tbh, I'd rather the youths got pumped 6-0 last night than the first team playing a meaningless match that could come back to bite us in the backside later in the season!

People need to cut Balde some slack he looks like he could be a real big player for us. Has potential to be a Hartson type of striker only he has age on his side as well as pace think once he adapts to the style of the SPFL he will bang them in looks clinical with his feet needs to work on his heading though.

Btart86

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's fast becoming a cult hero, I think two or three starts in the SPFL and he'll start banging them in. He took his goal well last night. The fans are defo on his side, listen to the appreciation he got coming off the bench in Perth + Paisley!

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute nonsense. How is he fast becoming a cult hero?

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 I take it you don't go to many away games? There's been a few songs started about the big fella, and the away end has errupted when he's came on to the pitch + continued when he touches the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paddy McCourt was a cult hero.and he was mince too!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree HB, the fans love the big man. "Balde, Balde, Amido ****in Balde" is all you hear when the big man warms up and he loves it. He scored a cracker against Liverpool pre season and now hopefully Lennon will give him a bit more playing time. Comimg on after 80 mins is not the answer. Pukki and Balde scored great goals last night and their play in general was very good. Would be brilliant if these pair started to link up well, would pi$$ a lot of people on here though who have been slagging them off. Hail Hail
TamTimTic

Agree0 Disagree0

You say "too" Joe, assuming you mean Balde is "mince", why's that? As others have mentioned, he's scored every time he's been given a chance! He has two competitive starts, two goals. He also scored against Brentford + Liverpool preseason, now Trabzonspor midseason. What more d'you want fi the guy? Get off his back!

Good win for the bhoys tonight good to see balde and Pukki get in target! Also see that celtic are supposedly interested in centre half Michael Morrison of Charlton. Anyone know much about him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2014 22:09:44
Enjoyed that tonight. No chance of that being a friendly. Turks hated getting beat. Good performances from the front guys, surely we will see more of Balde and the rest of the new bhoys for the rest of the season.

Good to see that we won 3-1 v trabzonspor tonight. goals scored by teemu pukki and amido balde(2)!

I have struggled to see any match report on the game on tv or sly! Oh, silly me, there are more important things to report like a gay footballer (nothing against gays, each to his own) and big Mel taking over as manager. Not to mention all the retractions about the WC in 8 years time not being played in summer (I've worked there, you could fry an egg on stone). Unbelievable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could have been 7 today, great job causing turnovers for scoring chances led by pukki. Maybe people who watched saw what pukki does/can do, but again we needed to be more clinical in our shots and stop hitting it over the net

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbf Tiny Tim, it is a big deal - Hitzlsperger is the highest profile openly gay footballer to date, which in my opinion is a sad state of football that players have to hide their sexuality to fit in. Regardless of creed, race, sexuality, etc - he was a fantastic player + is an incredible gentleman, for years he's actively campaigned against racism + xenophobia.

Two great finishes, borrigter? Will it be back to sammy and stokes, or do you think NL might start off with balde + pukki, I hope atajic gets at least a half, I know its only a freindly but signs for pukki, balde and biton, what do the rest of you guys think .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't make the game today was working lol, still watching on record just now not a fan so far of pukki but this the best av seen him so al just moan about his hair tonight.
Big balde still looks a bit clumsy but seems to giv us something different up front maybe the 2 of them could do well together at least giv them a proper shot. Ha he just scored a belter as a write this waha. Some tadger slaughtered balde and pukki on Clyde 2nite.

Agree0 Disagree0

Biton has always looked like a player to me. If Ledleys people were here on Tuesday, and there has been no word on him staying yet, Biton must start playing ahead of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree with GJ, Biton's vision + passing ability seems to be on the money. Give him game time ahead of Ledley if he's not signed a deal by 15th January, that gives us two weeks to try and punt him. Same goes for Sammy, if he's not signed a deal by the same date, actively pursue a buyer for him. Biton, Pukki + Balde have all merited a start the next game of this cup - if they do the business again in the final then get them in the starting XI for Motherwell at home!

Everytime big balde plays he seems 2 score. Tonight, partick away, killie away, the liverpool friendly just weird how he can't get anymore game time cause I was pretty impressed with his performance tonight. Well done big man

Agree with that, every time I've seen him getting more than 5 mins he scores. Need to be playing him more, I think he can be a real asset, strong as an ox and has an eye for goal, think Pukki will come good seems to only be lacking a bit of confidence, as for the tampon bin him.Stevie

Agree0 Disagree0

TOTALLY agree GB. you look at how he has taken those goals in the league. cool af! Scores tonight. I think Lenny has seen him as a target man. but the bhoy is never going to bully anyone. same as Anelka never did. I'm not saying he's in that class (yet) but he REALLY DESERVES a run.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2014 06:38:41
Willing to give pukki all this time and chances but bin borigter after he's prob had bout 4 starts. It's not his fault he picked up injuries he's only been here6 month, if he gets fit and steers clear of injury he could become a good player

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on GB! Stokes out, Balde in - until either do something for that to be reversed.

@3, I said on here the day of his debut after he limped off after half an hour that he was going to be a sick note, we should never of signed this guy, his previous at other clubs told us this, it has even been said by his previous clubs that he has feigned injury to be taken off in a game, not the type of guy you want in the trenches with you when the going gets tough. He's an imposter and as I said above bin him. Stevie

If it is true that EPL clubs are wanting Van Dyck (£10m mentioned) what about this idea?
Take the £10m and buy Gauld, Robertson and Mackay Stevens from Dundee United for about £6m. These are 3 up and coming players whose value will only increase.
OK we lose Virgil but I think these 3 players would improve us and we still have money left over to put towards a proven goalscorer, my own preference would be Ings or Rhodes.
Celtic sign good British talent with massive potential and sell on fees in the future. Timalloy

Are dundee utd not valuing Gauld at £6m? Why should they sell for less than they value him

Agree0 Disagree0

If they think they will get that kind of money for a seventeen year old playing in the SPFL they are kidding themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I rate Gauld (+ a few others), I don't think Dundee Utd are that financially well off that they can demand top dollar for a few teenagers.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2014 18:34:45
They could hold out for top dollar for there top player if they wer to sell 1 or 2 others, if they get 1.5m for Robertson 1.5 mcay steven, 1m each Armstrong and soutar

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2014 18:36:21
Hibs got 4.4 for brown is Gauld not being looked at by top teams like real

Agree0 Disagree0

Realistically, these players wouldn't get a chance of playing, so why weaken the premier but buying utd best players

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2014 21:42:57
Simple answer here is NO! can't believe anyone would actually want this move. the club should have the money available to buy these players if that is who we want to sign

i would far far rather keep VVD and not sign any of them than sell him to fund this move. we do not have to sell our best players every year as I am sure he will be vital to us getting cl next season

well done balde and pukki for the goals tonight. missed the match though but by all accounts two good performances and the team from what I hear put in a good display also

Agree0 Disagree0

Gauld Armstrong Robertson Mackay Steven Gavin gunning may. If we snap up any of them I'll be happy. Give it another season see if we can prise Russell back to the spfl.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just on another note. I want these guys in our team. Young and Scots or Irish for gunning but I always find myself wondering a bout our youth set up. Do our young bhoys, who romp their league, not have the ability required? If our boys were at another club would we want to sign them? If so . Why aren't they getting a shot especially this season? Forgot to sign in. Then typed all this.

Since the manager announced to the world we have cash to spend in this window I have become really apprehensive about who we might bring in.
Obviously all the clubs are aware we have cash so prices will be even more over-inflated and as always is the case in January - all the really decent players are not available at this stage of the season.
Speculation about Fletcher, Finbogasson, Long and even Rhodes has appeared but will probably come to nothing as they all will have more lucrative options that their agents will be wheeling and dealing for.
There is talk of plundering Dundee Utd or Aberdeen for their better players, but are they any better than what we have or indeed able to step it up for CL?
That leaves us with the unearthing of relatively unknown talent that has brought us Kayal, Izzy, VVD and Wanyama as a few examples; but also the Bangura's, Lassad's, and Balde's - not to mention the string of useless loan signings that failed to impress.
Basically I think we have enough about us to see out this domestic season without gambling, but we also need to have a better squad in place for the start of next season, to make up for this seasons disaster in Europe and if we are going to lose one or two in this window as seems likely, we need to really make an effort to get quality players.
As each day of this window passes I hear we are being linked with the usual string of potentials, but I really hope we keep the heid and don't panic buy at the last minute and regret it?

JJ

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The problem we have is the CL qualifiers. I think I read they start THREE weeks after the World Cup.This will be a major headache fr us I would think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Going on the 2 goals balde has scored tonight he might just make you eat those words pal and I really hope he does. Been a while since we had a big strong striker who can bully defences, the bhoy has the assets just need to master the technique.

Darrenbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I think balde looked tonight like the player I thought fortune was going to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never saw the Friendly, but heard Balde scored a goal and obviously happy for him and delighted The Hoops won.
But it's not me Balde needs to convince, in 20 league games and 12 CL quals and group games the manager has seen fit to give him playing time you could measure on an egg timer.
NL is again actively looking for a striker as he seems to believe we never properly replaced Hooper and with Commons our top scorer, it would seem that way.
