Regarding the post split fixtures. There seems to me to be something missing from the argument of not allowing sevco to visit first.

just one thing, surely the semi will be worse for them than the league game? we will win the league, that's a given, so we win they leave party. Or they win, milk it and we leave.

The cup game is different. I would imagine, going by the noise, they fancy it ( i know, i know) , so they will be mightily pi55ed off if we win. A ritual slaughter would tip them over the edge in a harder environment to segregate fans. just no sense here.

Totally correct hampdump is a nightmare to segregate after the game the prob in 1999 was During the game.

Am I missing something here? We had a "decider" at Ibrox when Lennon was in charge which we lost and which passed without any more incident than usual. I thought allowing that game to go ahead was accepting that times had moved on? All I've seen all day long is people referencing the game in '99 when Rangers won the league at CP as a reason not to have this game next week.

I was at that game, like you say 1999, nearly 20 years ago, a lot has changed since then, there’s no reason why it can’t be played, had the opportunity at ibrokes a few years ago and lost, be good to put that right👍.

There was a game recently where I could have sworn a Rangers 2012 fan came on to pitch and attacked Brown and numerous coins lighters and other objects were thrown at Celtic players . Maybe that didn't happen, because Rangers 2012 were never fined .
Of course, maybe the Compliance Officer is a bit behind at his work, he started examining Rangers Licence 7 or 9 months ago and I suppose it isn't easy for the poor man.

I live in England have been season ticket holder since our hampden year. waiting for the fixtures coming out is a joke. 4 generations of tims waiting for a date for when we win the league to have a party with lots of family.
Only in scotland do we have to wait for our fans who come from all over for this date
SHAME ON THE SPFL.

Why does the SPL have to wait to see who is in the two sections for the split?
Why not, at beginning of season have team 1 plays team 3, team 2 plays team 6 etc.? To me its a no-brainer or am I missing something? Whichever team finishes in the league position plays as I said earlier.
All clear before the season starts.

TT: the reason they can't do that is simple, they don't know is Sevco will finish in the top six. :)

The days that they stop finishing outside the top six will be the end of the split.

Fixed and a money spinner, spl suits at the scam again, yes it is a simple solution. let team A play team B etc. Aerosoles.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Apr 2018 19:45:23
The reason they don't do that is because they try to make every team in the league play the exact same amount of games home and away as every Other team.

Agree1 Disagree9

09 Apr 2018 20:04:25
I think they should do away with the split once and for all.
As far as I know no other league does it this way and they seem to survive easily enough.
When you have a system that means one team has to go to a rival 3 times a season compared to playing them only once at home then that system is deeply flawed in my view.
If Hibs have to play Sevco away for a third time this season and lose, and were then to miss out on second place by a point, would that not destroy any credibility the league has in Scotland? .

Best chance of it being scrapped is if we do end up deciding it there and thumping them by a big margin:) .
On a lucid note if there is unrest and anti social behaviour stats released after the day/ night you can be guaranteed that there will be no clarification if those questioned or arrested by police were celtic or rangers. There never is. I have a retired uncle, done his full working life as a policeman. Protestant by family ties but a guy that couldn't be further from an active football fan. I remember when I was wee he always said the trouble and the workload was always greater when having to manage the blues. His opinion.
I don't see it being as much of a problem now. The majority of the orcs I know are neutered compared to what I remember them to be like. They still unleash it when they are in numbers but the wings are clipped for the most part.

They need to try and give every team 19 home and 19 away games, so doing as the op suggested has no guarantee of achieving that.

I would imagine that at he start of the season they try and work out the team's that will finish top 6, and try do the fixtures in such a way that that each of those teams will play 2 home and 2 away against each other, as well as have 19 home and 19 away.

Obviously, the predicted teams may well change by the time the split comes, which means the plan may not work. I realise my assumed method may not be what happens but this would be the sensible way.

At start of season I think most of us would have predicted that Celtic, rangers, Aberdeen, hibs and hearts would finish top 6 but few would have predicted killie.

Regardless of any of this, each team should be going into the split either having played 17 home and 16 away or 16 home and 17 away. If this is not the case, then whoever done the fixtures ballsed it up.

Another sub par performance yesterday. Think Demebele set the tone for the game when he missed a 1 on 1 inside 10 seconds.

Gave away a really poor goal with a ball over the top and Ajer committing himself. A rare mistake from him to be fair but that's the way the Huns will play on Sunday. Long balls over the top and play on our mistakes.

We didn't move the ball enough and did not get our strikers into the game even when we went two up top. Not enough movement, not enough speed!

We have hit all of our objectives for the season so far but we've done so playing some really poor and boring football.

There will be an overhaul in the summer due to players going etc. but also because we need a fresh spark! Seen a lot of people question Rodgers recruitment and Congerton and they have a point - where's Eboue went? What's happening with Commper? DDV rotten, Gamboa hardly given a game, Musonda hardly played.

Don't mean to be so doom and gloom while we are on the verge of a double treble. Just feel the style of play could be better.

Really think some of the players are still striving to find their best form - mostly due to long injury absences (Rogic, Armstrong, Dembele, Griffiths and Roberts) - and others have had issues with form lapses, but are trying to play through it.
Although we have not been at our best, It's actually amazing we are in this position as any other team would have really struggled with similar set-backs to their attacking options.
The team is still totally dominating possession, but just needs that wee bit of composure and confidence that will come.
Sunday is a great opportunity to put in a performance and result to remind everyone how good we are.

This is how I think it will go with the split to avoid us winning against them!

April 21/ 22 home to Aberdeen
April 28/ 29 Away to hibs
May 5/ 6 home to sevco
May 8/ 9 Away to hearts
May 12/ 13 home to Kilmarnock

Thoughts?

Brendan highlighting what a sad wee part of the world we live in. I would take a draw or a defeat that would leave a scenario that we get to play them to wrap it all up and revel in their never ending pain!

exactly HT. WE are above that lot and to accept anything less than a victory demeans the team, the manager and the integrity of the club.
I could care less against which club we retain our title. I do care that we retain it and build on our own team leaving sevco and the rest picking the crumbs we leave on the table and squabbling amongst themselves for the biggest piece.

The Spl are forced to ensure Rangers2021 don't play us first game after the split . The most valuable player ever in the SPL is suspended for that game and they cannot ask Rangers2012.to play without Morelos.
