Your a Manchester United man edd, what do you make of SAF hanging it up just now?

IMO it's been a recent decision as I'm sure pep would have waited another year for arguebly the biggest job in football. or is it cause DM is out of contract in a few weeks?

I see DM looks hot for it with Lennon or Martinez linked with Everton?

Lenny {Ed007's Note - I was surprised more than anything else Lenny, and I agree with you about Guardiola, if Utd had known AF was retiring they would have made a move for him. AF has always said his health would determine when he retired, I know he is going in for a hip operation during the summer, maybe that has made him take stock of things want to spend more time with his family, horses and wine collection.}

I've always said Fergie would be enobled on retirement. I fully expect him to be Lord Fergie pretty soon for services to Sport (football). He can sit mumbling in that language septogenarians and older speak in the HOL.

Then he can start a show called Apprentice manager, where he gives Ally McCoist tasks and tells him "you're fired"

All hypothetical but let's say
Moyes. to Utd
Morinho. to Chelsea
Lennon to Everton

Who would you want at our helm
For me:
1. ONeill
2. Hartley
3. Poyet
4. Jackie Mac

In that order. {Ed007's Note - Please tell me you are kidding, or drunk? No wonder you never left a name.}

ED007; Just heard Moyes expected to be named Utd manager in the next 24 hours. Interesting you don't fancy him, I think he's wrong myself, but my pal in Mancland is not too pleased either.

I don't think the style of football he plays is a Man U type game, But I don't think Mourhino does either. I always thought Blanc was who they would go for, that's who my pal fancied, and I just can't see Moyes working for them.

One question for you. Do you think Ferguson will have any input into his successor and will he champion him the way Sir Matt did with Fergie? I think that night be vital for Moyes. green jhedi {Ed007's Note - AF's decision has shifted everything forward a year, he was expected to retire next summer. It is actually Bobby Charlton that is and has been pushing for Moyes (believe it or not, his alternative at one point was Owen Coyle!!!) but AF will have his input on the appointment. If is Moyes then they will need to get a strong assistant manager who is more tactically aware than Moyes is. I would prefer Blanc to Moyes, ideally it would be Mourhino or it would be fantastic if they could entice Klopp from Dortmund. AF's input with the new manager would depend on how much the new man needed to turn to him. If Moyes takes over I think in 2/3 years Man Utd will be fighting just to qualify for a CL place.}

with fergusons retirement, will that be the domino effect to Lennons departure has been linked with everton for a while now and moyes is by far favourite to get the united job (although personally I do think mourinho will be the next united boss)

I know a lot of Celtic fans don't like the trouble at games and before I go any further i'm one but being from corby us traveling bhoys have had a lot of run in s with numerous fans when pulling in to services over the years but I have just read John o Kane's book and it is a great read with none of this glamorizing the trouble but telling the way it is I would advise any Celtic fan to read it, enjoyed every page, jodrok

Alex Ferguson is retiring at the end of the season, I can see David Moyes getting the hot seat but I would like to see Martin O'Neil get the job.

Well what underhand tactic has brought around the use of 2 goal line officials at the Scottish Cup Final.

John Fleming, the SFA's head of referee operations, said: "The use of additional assistant referees has been successfully operated in a number of high-profile European competitions in recent years and is also in use in several domestic leagues across Europe.

Has anyone ever seen the goal line officials make a call. They just stand there and do nothing.
