well, job done at swinecastle and they were sick! havnt seen tv,over the line guys? great displays all over the park.hooperman was the worst but the goal will be his turning point im sure.jeeze we got a strong squad! even better when you see cousin going to rankers!nothing won yet so lets keep cool.green jhedi

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yeh, it looked a goal Jhedi....that lot are going mental over it lol!
but remember, it all evens itself out over a season:D

i thought hooper played really well tonight, was pulling there defence all over the place, and most of the game he had 2 guys on him, and still managed a goal. the whole team got passmarks for me, and i'm liking what i see with big Rogne, looks stronger with every passing game

taco

Agree3 Disagree1

@taco; i meant hoopers touch but the workrate and movement was good but the worst in that display was still a 7/10!....green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree0

It did look over the line
but hey play to the whistle
we took them to the cleaners in the first half
starting 11 tonight is the away team i would go for if all fit
the sub bench was as strong as ive seen in a long time at Celtic and that shows the depth of squad we now have

Lubo25

Agree1 Disagree0

I suppose you're right, his touch wasn't up to his usual standards, but a lot of the balls played to him were either behind him, or just going too fast. i bet if stokes was on from the start we would have seen a different player....still, not complaining:)

what a result tonight, i thought we would win beforehand but thought it would be a much tighter affair.... not that im complaining!! All over the pitch i thought we looked cool, calm and composed with plentty of skil to bootl. I thought wee forrest wasnt quite at his best, but his movement in finding wee pockets and workrate in defence were pretty darn good.

Wanyama Had another truly solid game and has just looked the part since he first played, another cracking goal by him aswell, any striker would be proud of that one! Was hard to choose between him and brown for MOM, That touch from broonie for the goal in the centre circle was class, loved it! I am one happy lad tonight.

Amazed i have not seen any posts over on the Wakes page ( whoever first called it that take a bow, loved that one) about how they should be looking to bring capello in...... oh wait they couldnt even afford copella never mind him.

What is celtics share of the sly spurts £13 million a year? if an even split with all teams in the league then just over £1mill if we get into europe a home game of say 55000 at £25 a ticket is £1.375 m. even after expensex that must be close to a million so it looks like domestic TV is a small% of celtics income and the argument made by R*****s fans that we coudnt survive without this money seems to be completely unfounded {Ed007's Note - The Sly money is just another example of Rangers fans arrogance that Scottish football 'needs' them for TV money, it is not a big deal.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

The setanta deal was the last big tv deal the spl had, and it's just another way of rangers trying to justify their importance to scottish football

Hey bhoys great night tonight, solid in defensive duties fluid in attack and am starting to love football again(never fell out just started to feel like a chore a few seasons ago) anyway I heard a rumour form a 'source' the guy has not told me anything before so I am assuming someone told him and how reliable it is I dont know but rangers are due to go into admin on friday? However as cousin is due to sign on friday it could make sense as another promise whyte couldnt keep. Anyone heard anything about this?
Bankier bhoy

could it be Friday might be the day bud?

i copied and pasted this from rangerstaxcase.com 06/02/12

As for the most recent wave of insolvency rumours, I can confirm that Rangers had instructed their legal advisors to prepare for a possible filing at the end of the transfer window. However, I chose to sit on this story as it was likely to be misinterpreted.

I have been one of Broonys biggest critics over the last two seasons and was calling for Lenny to let him go in the summer, you told me I was wrong allow me to get off my high horse at long last that since Broony been back from his injury he has been sensational and a true Celtic Captain that we have needed him to be.

What a squad we have now just think of the players who didn't make the bench tonight McCourt, Ibrahim, Izzy, Kayal the list goes on.

In Lenny we trust.

CeltStu {Ed007's Note - No need mate, everyone is entitled to their opinion..........then they realise I am right :-) That's what I tell Moneypenny anyway!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As Lenny said at the end of the game, that's the first time that Broonie has been injury free for such a long time, and it's showing.

there was a reason we spent 4.4m on him

taco

Agree6 Disagree0

Well a good majority will be eating humble pie, broonie is now showing his abbilty in abundance&injury free.! He looks a lot more composed & channeling his anger & drive in the rite way!Not so long ago the doubters were wanting him sold,& lennon out.Remember guys Always Keep The Faith!!This yyoung celtic team looks like the start off something big,get rid off the dead wood in summer, mabe get a proven solid centre back&tie up big herman in goals&a powerful forward in the hartson or sutton mould& mabe lennon could be on road too gretness!!! Fantastic Celts! Best first half of the season all over the park. Wanyama, Brown and Ledley take a bow.
Was glad to see Templeton and Skacel were missing to be honest and said earlier we should pummell them from the start and don't let them settle and apart from that 'goal' they hardly bothered us.
We even kept Samaras on for 90 mins to rub it in.

It amazes me how many Celtic fans are obsessed with what's happening at Ibrox, whether it be HMRC, who we might or might not be signing & how much wages was paid to players 10-15 yrs ago, seriously, what has it got to do with you ? I don't mind banter but a lot of your fans are never off the Rangers site & before anyone says something about me being on your site, I'm just making a point. I would also like to point out, if Rangers were to fold, where would that leave you & don't say things like getting into the EPL or an Atlantic league, they will NEVER happen.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

It will probably leave us in a similar position rangers would have been in had the worst happened to Celtic back in 1994...I don't know how old you are but can you remember your thoughts back then, were you worried sick for Celtic ? What is it you want Celtic fans to do, have a whip round and save rangers or ask one of our millionaire or billionaire shareholders (real ones) to help out ? Mrs E

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Aww didums.... maybe davis should watch celtics last 3 games & see how a real captin plays !

3 goals all from midfield ! bearing in mind stokes is still on the bench ! rangers couldnt score in a barrel of fannies

mind the gap now

lenny

Agree7 Disagree1

Really captain, you lot was wanting him out of Parkhead not that long ago. {Ed007's Note - 'You lot' are you sure about that? He is a player that divides the CFC support, Rangers fans have a squad, a manager and an owner that divides them. If the fans turn up that is.}

Agree1 Disagree2

Ill be honest i dont believe he is worth the 4.4m we payed for him however his 1st year at celtic he had the lost of his sister to cancer which to anyway would shatter them, gets made captin & now brings out the best in players bit like lennon when he was captin.rumour was his agent(s) were holding out for more money. but who cares hes here to stay & is making a good impact to the team more so when were down..... again maybe davis should take a leaf out of the brown book?

lenny

Agree2 Disagree0

Okay i"ll re phase, a certain element of the Celtic support wanted Scott Brown out, granted his first year at Celtic was a hard year on him due to the death of his sister, and no one can blame Scott for that. You cant deny that during his 2nd and 3rd some Celtic fans wanted him out. Your right Steve Davis could take a leaf out of his book the now, by far worse Rangers captain i've in 25 years.

Evening Ed, Hope the niece is continuing her recovery the poor wee soul!

I have been thinking..... (dangerous i know)

There is alot of talk around papers , online etc about rangers doing a share issue to help the club out... now Rangers are suspended from trading on the Plus Exchange, therefore shares cannot pass from an internal holder to a new party, Possibly a way rangers can raise cash from fans to help is through a charitable donation (maybe this is a point for the RTC blog lol) but with Mr Whytes history of paying VAT i dont see this as an option either as Rangers aint a registered charity.

What other way can they actually help their club out financially? i cant think of any. Maybe im being thick. But to me it looks like Whyte has cut off all possible routes for an internal self help scheme?

Anyone any ideas?

Evinguu {Ed007's Note - She is getting better thanks. Nice to hear from you Evinguu, you always have some interesting points/ideas. I fail to see how a share issue would be allowed.}

All the best tonight Bhoys. Yet another tough away game at the bile-spouting pit of the 2nd poorest team in Scotland. Hope we get out the blocks sharpish tonight as they will be hyped up as usual.
Don't mind who starts as I feel if plan A fails, NL is fast becoming more capable of changing it around and making full use of a hungry squad when required.

Hi ed, best wishes to the wee one bud. My main point today is basically the same as NL has been saying I think we all need to stop this treble stuff and just take it game by game. Yes we are looking a lot stronger and the team seems to have a gelled well but there's still a long way to go that's for sure.
Rankers are shocking just now, when aluko is your best player you really need to start worrying but they've brought it all on themselves. It's goin to be a hard one tonight but I would think we'd be strong enough again. Hope to see the new polish guy on at some point.
Cheers
CB {Ed007's Note - Thanks CB. I agree with you, let's take one game at a time, a treble is possible but how many times has talk came back to bite players in the a55, Commons, Jelavic etc etc. Obviously we have a great chance of a treble but there is still a lot of football to be played. Rangers have spent more money on trancfers this season than celtic. 3.3m spend for rangers excluding the superstar signing of celik. Celtic 3.5m including loan fees. Its poor managment that's to blame for rangers failings not big spending spree celtics been on.

DD

Believable2 Unbelievable0

DD,

We still have a smaller squad than Celtic. Celtic could have signed nobody and still have a larger squad than Rangers.

It's not just down to transfer fees, it's player wage demands and agent fees. Rangers, quite simply, cannot afford to offer players large wages.

TTG

Agree0 Disagree2

08 Feb 2012 11:13:15
Here's a wee thought......

Izaguirre : £600,000 - Wallace : £1,496,000
Ledley : Free - Mckay : £264,000
Ibrahim : Free - Bedoya : £303,600
Hooper : £2,400,000 - Jelavic : £4,312,000
Matthews : £198,000 - Ortiz : £396,000

Rangers claiming that Celtic are only winning the league because of finacial hardship and Celtic having more cash - PRICELESS!
Mon the hoops

Believable5 Unbelievable0

How many players have Celtic signed?

You also have to take into account player wage demands and agent fees, it's not just down transfer fees.

This is just a pointless argument. What about Daryl Murphy, Juarez, Stokes, Kayal, Wanyama etc, all these players cost millions of pounds in transfer fees.

You are in denial if you think Celtic haven't signed every player possible just to win the league. Free agents or not, Celtic's wage bill is sitting above the £30,000,000 bracket......

TTG

Agree0 Disagree1

Bangurra 2m little free
juarez 3m healy free
brown 4m cellik free what is the point of ur stupid post?

Agree1 Disagree0

What has rangers wage bill been for the past 3 years ? I think the whole point of the post is rangers are according to the fans paupers and won on a shoestring but according figures over the last 5 years the have spent on tranfers fees :-

Rangers - £33, 3100, 000
Celtic - £35, 397, 000

Serious question:

What would Celtic fans have to look forward to IF Rangers ceased to exist? Apart from laughing in our faces, where would the interest be?

There would be no OF derbies and the quality of players would fall dramatically as the years progress. Before you know it Celtic will only be able to attract the same standard of players as Motherwell, Dundee UTD etc.

By all means, I ain't saying Celtic NEED Rangers and Rangers NEED Celtic, but what would the attraction be? If Celtic were to be in this situation, I for one wouldn't want them to cease to exist. The only game I look forward to is the OF derbies.

Celtic and the SPL would certainly survive without Rangers, but with a severe shortage of interest.

TTG

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Im almost crying reading this TTG. I dont know where Celtic will be,but i know where i'll be, i'll be doin the conga eating jelly and ice cream. Glagow Rangers....we cant live without them? Well theres only one way to find out.......

Joeshmo1888

Agree4 Disagree0

Complete pish.... Celtic do not need rangers, other teams would come into play with others qualifying for spots in Europe leading to better quality signings for lower teams. I do agree with the fact that we would not have anything to look foward to as winning the league is only good if its at rangers expense and obv vise-versa. I personally dont want rangers to dissapeare but they deserve whatever they get it's there fault nobody elses and all this u need us garage is just a way of trying to latch this predicament to Celtic but it's fooling no one!

Agree2 Disagree0

Serious answer:

Dunno your age mate, but if you can recall as far back as the 1980's you'll know fine well that the SPL will do just fine with or without Rangers.

Scottish football was flourishing at the time, teams reaching European finals, beating some really good sides along the way, then Murray arrives and everything went dark (except for your team obv lol).

I'm sure the fans of Aberdeen etc... would love a crack at European football again, it could well be the new dawn the SPL has needed for some time.

And before your fellow Bears give it the old "typical Timmy" nonsense, I wish all right-minded Gers fans no ill feeling, I feel for them (if it were my club I know I'd be gutted to see them in this state - 90's!!) but as the old saying goes "you reap what you sow".

@TTG; rangers wont vanish mate, not a chance. at worst a new team starting in div 3 which would mean no derby in the league for a couple of years.i would think we would meet at sometime in the cup. i think we could survive a maximum of three years without games against you.,,green jhedi

ShaunyBhoy,

I was born in the late 80's so can't answer. The only thing I know about the 80's is that, back then, the SPL was a far better standard than it is today, also, quality players weren't as greedy as they are today, neither agents(if players had agents back then).

Yes Aberdeen fans, Motherwell fans etc, would love a crack at European football but would these clubs hold their own in Europe? I doubt it.

Rangers only have themselves to blame but I don't understand why there are Celtic fans out there who want nothing more than Rangers to become extinct. These are the fans who think Celtic will be welcomed with "open arms" to the EPL.....which will only happen if they edit Football Manager!!

Green Jhedi,

The thing about a new team is, well, it won't be Rangers. I personally don't think I would support a new team TBH.

Why would Celtic not be able to attract decent players? you think that only decent players want to play 4 games against rangers?? get real!

players will come for the guaranteed european football, medals and money, NOT to play against rangers. and i wouldn't exactly say that we are attracting top quality players right now....yes, a few rough diamonds and players with massive potential, but not in the same league as the likes of Hartson, Sutton, Petrov, Mjallby etc.....and thats with rangers still being here, so you're argument falls a bit short there mate

@TTG;as a matter of interest what percentage of rangers fans do you think would feel that way? lets say "glasgow rangers 2012" are the new team, playing at ibrox, what do you think the crowd might be? cheers.........green jhedi

TTG,
I was around in the 80's and I am an Aberdeen supporter (wife a season ticket holder at Parkhead..trying to convert me)
The 80's was a great time in Scottish football...Aberdeen, Dundee United, Celtic, Hearts on a couple of occassions coming close...Rangers 4th or 5th every year...a few points at the end of the season separating 3 or 4 teams at the top of the league.
Celtic and Rangers both paid similar wages to the rest of the teams in the Premier Division and it was much more of a level playing field. The emphasis was more on bonus than basic wage. In my opinion if Rangers fall away then Celtic will reduce their expenditure and you might see other teams like Aberdeen (Hearts are in a bad way atm) Hibs, Kilmarnock etc increasing theirs!
Anything that could potentially increase the quality of the other clubs in Scotland can only be a good thing...if that means Rangers have to spend a few years working their way back up from Div 3 then so be it...I wont lose any sleep.
Also, you shouldnt be casting aspertions on Aberdeens ability to "Hold their own" in Europe when Rangers got knocked out of every cup at the first go...remember Aberdeen are the only Scottish Club to hold 2 European Trophys...Celtic and Rangers only have 1 each.

Green jhedi:

I honestly couldn't tell you. I can only speak on behalf of myself. If I'm honest I'd say that most Rangers fans would probably support a new Rangers.

It would depend on the circumstances i.e, who owns the club, if they have wealth in abundance and if they can attract a standard of player that will still be able to compete with Celtic.

I don't think it would be easy for a group of supporters who have supported a successful team who win trophies and compete in Europe at the highest level to have to support a team who will probably be competing in the Scottish 3rd division....

Taco:

After a while Scottish clubs would find it a lot harder to progress further in the European competitions. OK, Rangers this season and Celtic last season, struggled in Europe. But what sort of player will you attract when you might only be able to offer say 1st and maybe 2nd round of qualifying rounds in the European cup. So what European football can you actually guarentee??

I guarentee you that attendances at Celtic park would drop rapibly if Rangers ceased to exist.

As I said, there would be no attraction if Rangers ceased to exist. It would be the same if Celtic were to become extinct, I certainly wouldn't be attracted to say...Motherwell being our new rivals.

Is this why Rangers accounts have not been signed off.
