EPL best league in the world, if you are watching this dross just now you might just see the PR sells it more than the football being played.

Passing average to poor, decision making and running off the ball just as bad and all this from players who are supposedly worth multi millions.

Marco Rojo, Ashley Young amongst others are terrible.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Ashley Young is probably one of the worst players I've seen in my life, I really can't think of another player playing at that level as bad as him. Anyone any suggestions of players you can't believe are/were footballers?}

Van Vossen / Sebo & Bob Malcolm & Maurice Ross now come to think of it no wonder they fargin died!

Whenever a question like this is asked I can't help thinking of the majority of the Liverpool team who won the 2005 Champions League v AC Milan. Dudek, Biscan, Smicer, Garcia and most of all Djimi Traore!!! He must wake up every morning, look in the mirror and piss himself laughing that someone actually paid him to play the game. He should have been reported to trading standards for putting footballer on his CV.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clubfoot

Agree1 Disagree0

Berget didn't get much of an opportunity to show his ability in the Epl. Too many players every season seem to show form far above their ability. At the week-end Walters who is really a very poor striker, caused havoc on the right hand side against Arsenal, scoring one and creating two.
Now anyone who has watched Walters play will know just how poor a football he is and I wouldn't think many Celtic fans would welcome here .

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it would have to be Titus Bramble he has got to be the worst defender I've ever seen he would make Ambrose look good

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Dec 2014 03:06:41
Chris02 can see where your coming from but I wouldn't say walters is a bad footballer he's just not technically as good as others but what u get out of him is 110% every game he always puts in a shift and never gives defences peace but how many so called top class players ie ballotelli for examle have the same attitude? i'd take a walters over a ballotelli everyday. I'd class walters more in the 'Good Old Pro' category. Another i'd say I can't believe ever had a career in football was rory delap. Apart from a long throw in I can't see what uses he ever had in football. Wouldn't have picked him for a game of 5's

Hi Ed, Can you advise us apart from Commons & Kayal who else is out of contract at the end of the season, thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Lukasz Zaluska, Leonardo Fasan, Filip Twardzik, Joe Chalmers, John Herron and Paul George.}

Thanks Ed, the Fasan one must need updated mate he was quoted after pre-season he was delighted to have signed a new 4 yr contract?!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Cheers, it was just part of something I wrote months ago I lifted it from.}

Surely time for young Fasan, who I have not seen in the flesh but hear great things, to be promoted. Chalmers is a let down, looked like a big powerful full back when he started getting some game time. Maybe play him behind Izzy and just let him defend as a last chance?

Agree1 Disagree0

Green Jhedi I reckon Craig Gordon was signed on free transfer, to bridge the gap till Fasan is ready. Makes sense

Agree1 Disagree0

It will make sense if we get a further 18months injury free period from Gordan and he also maintaining good form . For it to make good sense Fasan would also need to improve with games and training with our goal keeping coach Woods .

AH. don't know what point your trying make regarding Craig Gordon think most Celtic supporters are glad to have him at the club.Even though he has to manage a horrible past injury he's doing the business on the park and if its wise to miss the odd game so be it.also young leonardo fasan will come on leaps and bounds through working with Craig which will help his progress.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

@gerry8 You've commented on something you said you don't understand which means you don't even know if your comment is relevant. Seems a bit odd to me. Does Craig Gordon coach our young keepers now? I didn't even know Stevie Woods had left. It's an education everyday on here!

Agree0 Disagree1

AHha you like to play with words but if your going to quote me please be accurate I didn't say I didn't understand your point but was wondering why you were making it as most Celtic fans are happy with Gordon's contribution.I also didn't say Craig Gordon was coach but that young fasan was working alongside Craig and would learn from him.ah well I suppose it is a banter site and it makes life interesting to hear different views . eh even if you don't understand them.

So Craig Gordon wants a rest from playing in this weeks europa league match, since when did keepers need a rest? and I noticed he said he could use the time off to build up his knee

"I am happy to play if selected. But if I am not involved it gives me a good opportunity to have a week's training where I can concentrate on building up my knee and maybe training a little bit harder than I would do if I had a game."

I thought his knee was fine so why does it need built up. He then goes an contradicts himself by saying

"When you are at a club like Celtic you need to deal with playing a lot of games. As players that's what you want, you'd rather that than training all week."

How comes he want a weeks rest to train if players would rather play matches? This is all your fault ED007 for going on about his fitness you've got me a paranoid wreck everytime I see him talking about fitness and stuff.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I'm saying nothing except I don't know where you got the idea CG's knee was fine from.}

So far so good way gordon! Don't really need to play him on Thursday and if he feels like it wld be a good idea to build his knee up a bit then that's fine! He is a class keeper and we want him to stay fit!

Agree2 Disagree0

I hope the Board read this and finally admit the need to sign a serious rival for the No1 jersey as Zaluska will never be good enough if and when CG can't play.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Bigc79 I just thought it was strange that he mentioned building his knee up. It shows he's been playing without his knee being 100% which has got to be a worry and backs up what ED007 has said for months about Gordon's fitness situaton. At the time everyone was saying he must be healed up and fit or we wouldn't have signed him, him needing a rest to build up his knee shows there's a problem still with his knee, what state is it in 60% 75%? Is he always damaging it more by playing games or will it be a case of a week of rest from games and it'll clear up and be back to normal. It's obviously a problem when the guy himself has mentioned it. I'm happy enough with Gordon in goal but I don't see him being even a middle term time keeper for us, he's already missed a couple of games with injury, at Celtic players need to be able to play 2 maybe 3 games a week. I wasn't having a pop at Gordon just hilighting that he still has problems with his knee yet folk on here ripped apart anyone who mentioned it when he signed.

Agree0 Disagree1

@AH maybe he has already been told he not playing and he is seeing the positive side of it. But its interesting your a wreck about his fitness as this means you obv rate him highly like me. If the season stopped now I would think he would be in the running for POTY.Poll ed? Wud CG be a candidate if season stopped now?

Agree0 Disagree0

A said at the time CG report card will only ever read "so far so good" & hopefully it stays that way

Agree0 Disagree0

@AH that is a lot of ifs and maybes mate about his knee mate. As knowledgable as Ed is I don't think he has access to Cg medical records. Wish people would stop going on about it to be honest and stop havin a go at him because he might be injured or going to break down. let's deal with it if and when it happens. The guy has been brilliant since he came esp taking over from a top class keeper and cost nothing. let's jus judge him on his performances.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I might not have access to his medical records but I was still right at the time and I'm right now, that's the main thing. Craig Gordon was not fully fit when CFC signed him and I doubt he ever will be fully fit, there I've even said it again.}

@rayman He wasn't my ideal choice to replace big Forster but he's done a decent enough job and is better than Zulaska. That's my worry if Gordon gets injured and we end up with Zaluska as our no.1 keeper. I think POTY will be Guidetti if he keeps scoring or even Scott Brown if he captains us to a treble

Agree1 Disagree0

Agreed rayman top 4 would be CG, Guidetti, Johansen & now maybe VVD

Agree0 Disagree0

I think CG will be at Barca next year if he never let's a goal in again. Ed how could he possibly be fully fit when we signed him if he hadn't played a game n 3 years. Nobody in the world could be.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Because his injuries hadn't healed 100% he should never have been signed and the gamble backfired in the Maribor game when he was caught out of position for their goal. If he had been sharper and fitter he might have been able to get back into position, maybe his knee twinged that night, or maybe it was something really serious like his ears popped or his nose started running.
Barca have just got rid of one injury ravaged crock of a GK in Valdes, I'd doubt they'd want one who is even worse than him.}

Ed, with respect to Gordon those broken finger nails are tricky little ****ers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He missed the game against Aberdeen with a stiff neck but was fit enough to join up with the Scotland squad, another strange twist in the conundrum of the most injury prone player in Scotland and he's not even been back playing 4 months! Gordon makes James Forrest look like Robocop in the keeping fit stakes.
A GK needing a rest, I've never heard so much p!sh in my life, let's just hope he lies the right way when he's resting, another stiff neck would probably push his hypochondria over the edge!
I'm starting to doubt he has the mental toughness to handle the job, how confident is he in his own body to stand up to the rigours of playing when he missed a game with a knock to his knee, missed a game with a stiff neck and now is talking about needing a rest and using it to built his knee up, and it's only the start of December.}

And I have never heard as much pi$h either CG must be the only goalie in the world who is being accused of being "out of position" @ the Maribor goal WHILST more than half way INSIDE his six yard box, maybe the bigger frame of FF would have got it I accept that but never ever out of position must be a world record that

As an ex GK I have never heard of a keeper being classed out of position more than half way inside his 6 yard box

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Maybe that's why you're an ex-GK. If you watch Gordon he is ball-watching as the ball is travelling away from the goal, if he had done what a GK should do, which you should know, is step back towards your goal when the ball is travelling away from your goal, if he had done what he should have he'd be in a better position to stop the ball. What did he expect to do where he was standing, he wasn't even protecting his goal.}

Ed you not judging hjm on performances and as I said before you the only 1 who blames him for that goal, Why you not blaming Izzy or the manager for that game, if we cuda beat Maribor easily that goal would be talked about. Losing that tie is down to the manager no one else. Remember the manager you rave about trusts him as his No1.And he defo a candidate for POTY.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - If I'm the only one you know that blames him for the Maribor goal you need to get out and mix more with real people, there was even a Youtube video made highlighting it.
Why do you always need to speak like you're talking for everyone, how do you know I'm the only person that blames him? You do it all the time, aren't you confident enough in your opinion that you need to imagine that you're some sort of spokesman that makes general sweeping statements for everyone to give you some credibility?
Our manager didn't have much choice in the matter did he? What do you think a fitness driven manager really thinks of having a GK he needs to wra in cotton wool or who turns up and declares he's not fit to play because he's got a stiff neck?
If Gordon gets POTY it shows the distinct lack of quality in our squad.}

08 Dec 2014 23:28:28
Can see both sides 2 the argument with gordon but for not having played any games in what 3 years? iv been pretty impressed the amount of games he's been able 2 play and he's put in some cracking performances but we do seriously need competition. I like zaluska but he's a bombscare waiting 2 happen in goals

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot of good comments made here. On his game he is a great GK. He has done a few great shifts for us so glad for him and us. That said, this is Celtic not a pub side and the expectations are a lot higher. Would Man UTD, Chelsea etc. have a player never mind GK who's fitness is doubtful? He filled a gap but that's all it should be. The hard grounds and colder weather are coming in now and it looks like CG is going to find things a lot harder. I quite like Zalukas and feel he has not Been given a chance to settle and play regularly. The majority don't agree which is fair enough. We need a strong (and 100% fit) player as our last line of defense and CG just won't cut that. While on the subject, this type of information should remain between player and manager not broadcast from the dressing room.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Rayman If you don't have any worries over Gordons fitness then you're being very blinkered mate. Any day in training or at any minute of a game he could get a career ending injury without anything bad happening like a hatchet tackle. I'm not saying I hope that happens but you can see where ED007 is coming from and I know a few folk who think the same way. TinyTim has hit the nail on the head this is Celtic and we shouldn't be taking these kind of risks with players. got to disagree with you about Zaluska though TinyTim that's my nightmare, Gordon crocked and Zaluska being the main man. I don't tthink there's anything wrong with people talking about it but rayman just can't see anything realistic being said about Gordon and having concerns over his injurys and fitness is a realistic problem, even if you don't like it Rayman, it's not negative it's what could easily happen and he has already missed games through injury. how many games did big Forster miss through injury in all his time here or Boruc. Keepers aren't usually a problem position injury wise most keepers go through a season playing in every game except mayb the odd cup match or games at the end of the season. it's always strange to see a team line-up on TV and it's not their usual keeper because we're used to them being ever presents I bet we could all name 10 first choice keepers from the epl but would struggle to name 3 sub ones. I did think the stiff neck thing was a joke at first, that's got to be a first ever :)

Hart
Howard
Mignolet
De Gea
Courtoius
McGregor
Forster
Schezny
Krull
Lloris

There's 10 keepers off the top of my fuzzy head that I'd expect will play for their team this weekend, it's a position managers don't like to change so it doesn't upset the defensive unit, a guy at work blames our defensive problems on there being no understanding between Gordon and the defence, him missing games isn't going to help build a tight unit with confidence in the keeper. We looked a hell of a better team with Forster in there than Gordon and it's the same defenders part from Denayer. The only reason I brought any it up was because Gordon himself said about his knee, it worries me he is having a problem with his knee so soon after signing, if you think that's me having a go at him then that's your problem Rayman. Let's be honest, it's Craig Gordon we're talking about for all we know Deila could have a keeper lined up for the summer. Didn't I read somewhere that one of the reasons Falco is on loan at Man utd was to give him the chance to prove his fitness in the hope Real madrid would try and sign him again after his knee problems meant Madrid pulled out of the deal in the summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Falcao situation is a bit more complicated than that but that's the basic aim of the move. Utd thought it was worth the risk if his injury problems were over and helped them get back in the CL, Falcao would have proved his fitness, Utd get back in the CL spots and Madrid get the striker they've been chasing for over a year. It doesn't look like it's going to work out like that now, LVG has said Falcao is fit enough to play about 20 minutes per game.
For £265k a week and £6 million loan fee, I can think of someone on here who'd think that's a great deal, who cares about fitness and long term injuries when he's played in 6 games and scored a goal. Where would Utd be without that goal is anyone's guess!}

Craig Gordan, his ability and his fitness are probably the most debated things about any individual player currently at Celtic . Ability wise, I would say that he was ok . He has made very many saves, but most of these were of the category that a Celtic goalie should make . He has kept his blunders down to a minimum .
Fitness wise he has returned after 3 years out and although we haven't yet seen definite evidence of the body "seizing "

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic have had pish poor keepers for years until the holy goalie arrived, &
Have had decent ones since. Craig Gordon has done a good job since arriving, yes his knee is suspect so why play him in a meaningless game, it strikes me that a lot of supporters take a dislike to someone & that's it, mulgrew, Forrest Gordon etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing splits this board more than CG @ this moment and a really don't know why? Are people hoping/waiting on him to pick up an injury to say HAH a told you so?

Charlie Nickerlas (not a fan) was quoted as saying "if Celtic are now offered FIVE MILLION now for CG will they take it? (based on his performance) of course they will because that is how it is now at Celtic

Tom English @ the BBC was quoted as saying " Celtic have did a clever bit of business here they sold a keeper who never came for a cross ball for £10 million and replaced him with arguably a BETTER keeper"

What is this slagging him about the neck injury? has anyone ever creeked there neck over nothing? anybody ever woke up having lay the wrong way or having a draught in the room? Maybe his misses sat on his face and slipped FFS!

But as a said the report card reads so far so good with CG, we accuse this board of pennypinching they hand CG a three year deal but hold on they only handed Mlyouko a one year deal the previous year with a similar problem why would this penny pinching board who played hard ball with Sammy now doing the same with the CURRENT POTY Commons so surely they were confident having tested this "GLASS" keeper ( and yes that was the word labelled at him when he signed) surely they would not have exposed themselves to such a "liability"?

I see Tom Rogic is back in training. I'd like to see what this lad can do, he's only 21 so he has youth on his side that he can get over his last year of injury problems and maybe get a chance to show what he can do, he seems to be rated by everyone who's seen him and coached him and I remember someone from Oz on here raving about him wehn we signed him. Good luck to the young lad wherever his career takes him now

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Hello again AH Boy has every chance my uncle coached him in Australia, Tim Cahill said he was the most exciting prospect in Oz mate! could easily play the Kris Commons role if he stays fit

Don't watch any aussie football but by all accounts he was a stand out last season on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

@Jamiebhoy7 Sounds as if we could have a wee hidden gem on our hands if he can stay fit. cheers (y)

Agree0 Disagree0

The little bit of Tom Rogic I have seen, leaves me to think he is too slow on the ball to be a success in Scottish Football.
In the SPL, unlike many other European Leagues you must move the ball quickly or else, you will be moved, probably 6ft in the air.

Frewbhoy Johansen biton and Broony look like a promising midfield and forrest when he finds his match fitness will be a constant threat.broonys and Johansen's energy levels are amazing and if they stay injury free the results will keep coming.the flair and invention that the supporters crave is starting to bear fruit and I'm sure goals will come from guidetti and sceptovic(don't write him off yet) to compliment the good play.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

The problem on Saturday was that Celtic created a few great chances for our main striker . When we create 2/3 chances for Guidetti he must score.
Up to now everything looked good with him, I would worry if he had 2/3 games like the Motherwell match .

Been watching some highlights of the season so far. I am really impressed by the standard that Johansen is setting all of our attacks seem to flow through him and he is always looking to get forward.

It is also good to see that our high pressing is starting to bare fruit. Defences are visibly starting to make mistakes under pressure from our attacking line. Ronny still not totally happy with performances which can only be good, he like the rest of us must be chasing the same type of total football.

Great to see things coming together long may it continue. Hopefully Dundee Utd can keep us interested by mounting some sort of challenge just doubt they will have the consistency.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I like the post match comments from RD as he clearly sees the same games as the fans and knows we are still short of the standard expected.
I have been critical of the football we have played most of this season, but recently we have been entertaining and exciting to watch with only the finishing letting us down.
Johansen has recovered from a dip in form to really impress and link up with the forwards to great effect and Bitton is proving we don't Mulgrew anywhere near the midfield.
I definitely see progress being made - now I've jinxed it, haven't I?

seen a thread on the liverpool page about the attitude of footballer these days. Players being in it for the money/fame instead of to play football.

In scotland we obviously have significantly lower wages (especially outwith celtic)

So I was thinking, do we have the same issue in scotland. Players that are just in it for the money and fame etc? or due to lower wages do we end up with a more honest set of footballers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Scott Brown deserves all the credit in the world here. If he decided he wanted away and hadn't signed a new contract he would have had plenty options from mid table EPL clubs and would easily have doubled his salary. It was important to him to be captaining celtic in Europe and winning trophies. At the end of his new contract he will have made the magical 10 years at one club and that doesn't happen to much these days. The guy has his critics but I for one think celtic are lucky to have him for his playing ability and his attitude. Markie.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Dec 2014 11:00:21
Markie the broony leaves I will be devasted so much passion for the club and knows what it means to pull on the hoops legend in my eyes some people don't know what they've got till it's gone

Agree2 Disagree0

I was not always Broony's biggest fan and used to think he whinged more than he played decent football.

Over the past few years however he has developed in to a real leader whom we clearly miss when he is out. His drive and determination really flows on to the rest of the squad when he is playing. He is what a captain should be. Just if he could stop some of the needless bookings he would be even better.

All in all 4.5 million well spent. A real investment when you get a player of this calibre to spend his whole career at the club.

Agree1 Disagree0

I noticed he helped with the coaching when the youth team beat Rangers 6-1 the other night, so hopefully he will still have a role at the club when he finishes playing
