The poll of the day got me thinkin ( dangerous I know). For me there are 2 main reasons why a player would come to celtic from Europe. 1 Champions League football. 2 competition.I cannot see for 1 minute players across Europe saying to themselves " I can't wait to play in the SPFL".Thats never going to happen.So Champions league football is a must (period).Yes the board must take some blame but so must the manager.The other is competition, now I sure there are others who do not want them, but having rangers (a strong rangers at that) in the top league surely has to help our development as a club/team.PL has admitted 10m a year has been lost we cannot afford to lose this type of money. That's equivelant to 2 good players.So I for 1 hope they get themselves sorted and fast, as no team/sportsman can be at their best without serious competition.I cudnt care less about them but I want what's best for my team so if that's means them getting themselves sorted so be it. To be honest I miss those games I sure a lot o fans do.Remember those times when we could say to football fans all over the world "The old firm game is the best in the world".True or not we gave a good argument for it. Now it may never be called that strictly speaking again but it was famous all over the world and was a huge draw.Do you think fans in China USA Europe Asia etc won't be calling it the old firm when it happens, of course they will and will be marketed as that.

Two points here! PL said Celtic did not need / require rangers to be here to function . He said we had a back up plan so as to not require them to create money for our club! A- did he lie then or b- is he using it now as a feeble excuse for downsizing and quality reducing the squad by selling our best players for huge profit whilst replacing them with unknow poor mans replicas? 2 nd point it can never be branded or sold as the old firm! This is Scottish footballs newest team! And we have never in our history or their 2/3 year history played them in a football match! ( if they don't get money soon we might never! )

@Delbhoy, do you think sky etc will care if it new club/old club. I would bet my house the next game between us will be billed as that.

That will be the same sly that reported how Celtic never really did nothing wrong in the game against legia? When we were reinstated! When the truth be we done nothing wrong? Infuriated quite a lot of Celtic fans with their negative reporting of Celtic! Oh no I agree that once the mighty tax dodgers, who ripped off every honest business in Glasgow of monies owed, will get all the positive publicity sly can offer!

I'm sorry rayman I, as a lifetime celtic fan (60years) want rangers or what ever they are called to suffer as much pain as possible.this is the same club that didn't give a toss what happened to us during their recklessness (spending) to put us out of the game altogether and nobody inside ibrox or the press had any sympathy towards us.at the time we were in dire straits it was jokes all the way from all and sundry broken crests on a daily basis.so for me it would be a great pleasure to see them disappear altogether.killy.

Rayman of course I want the best for celtic, but I want It done by celtic without any involvement from a team who shamed scottish football, a team who left numerous companies without any income, A team who cheated their way to league titles and cup success, a team whose owner was instrumental in trying to put celtic out of business, a team who since I was a boy have been looked after by the establishment, and finally a team with the backing of the media are blaming everyone but themselves where the are today.i have absolutely no sympathy for them or wish to have them back in the top league.the sooner they crumble for good, cannot come soon enough for me, what goes around comes around .killy.

Robbie keane was never really an opton 2 sign permanent tbh

McGeady was one of the most over rated players ever to pull on the hoops and the it was a great piece of business to get the money we got.

Mates and I were talking in pub last night (yes Mrs T allowed me out lol) and topic came up about players wages.
Both Lawwell and Delia made point about players especially in England wanting big wages but firstly do we really want players like that only interested in a quick buck?
I made the point Celtic do not exactly pay "poverty" wages circa £15k/£20k a week with some like Scott Brown on maybe £25k. I would also imagine there would be bonus payments and a signing on fee on top so decent earnings in my book.
Surely an ambitious player should be saying to himself "not great money but not bad, but I will be playing to big crowds and playing european football of some sort and in front of big crowds, I can then attract attention of bigger EPL clubs and get my desired move"

Amido balde's goal bonus nearly put club in administration last season lol
