First summer transfer window for quite some time that I haven't panicked nearly everyday when no new star hadn't been signed.
Similarly not panicking over loosing one of Celtic stars to transfer
Hopefully confidence is well placed, and we get a couple of more star quality players than any we might lose.

I'm the same Chris. We are in a good place just a few tweeks here and there and we are good to go. The players resigning, with more to follow along with the introduction of Johnston will see us ok. It looks like BR is being ruthless with players not in his plans leaving and that's the way it should be. I have no doubts come the start of the new season we will be stronger.

It’s always nice to be sorted as early as possible but we shouldn’t need to strengthen to get through the first 3 qualifiers. Depending on opponents for the play-off a quality signing could make all the difference. If we need to wait for the players we want then that’s ok with me.

Maybe the world cup will throw up a few players from some of the lesser nations that will be worth signing.

I forgot to mention we have no worry about B R and any of his coaches leaving . I haven't seen Jim McGuinness getting fixed up with a job . I believe his family live in Scotland .
On a lighter note, I appreciate some fans are fonder of loan deals out, more than others, I was thinking that we could buy that Brighton player with the "dicky" heart and loan him out to Rangers2012 . Just to help a neighbour in distress.

If you go to Wikipedia and search for "2018–19 UEFA Champions League" you will get all the details you need to see how qualifiers work and who is in the draw.

Cheers lads will have a look at the wiki as I think the stuff out uo by ed has been worked of the pages with new lists and I don’t know how to find the old ones.

{Ed007's Note - It wasn't me that put it up, MP but here it is from GerryMurphy....

Full list of teams we can face in UCL qualifying (we'll need to beat 4 of these) .
Shkendija, Dudelange, Spartak Trnava, Valletta, Vikingur Gota, Crusaders, Olimpija Ljubljana, Alashkert, Sutjeska Niksic, Suduva Marijampole, Spartaks Jurmala, Cork City, Valur, Flora Tallinn, Torpedo Kutaisi, Midtjylland, CFR Cluj, Red Star Belgrade, Hapoel Be-er Sheva, Rosenborg, HJK Helsinki, The New Saints, Videoton, Kukesi, Zrinjski Mostar, AEK Athens, BATE Borisov, Dinamo Zagreb, Qarabag, Sheriff Tiraspol, Malmo, Young Boys, Astana, Legia Warsaw, APOEL

Realistically 1 from the bottom 4/ 5 in the play off round, 1 from the 8 or so before that in the 3rd qualifier, and two from the top half in the earlier rounds.

08 Jun 2018 19:02:45
With an extra £10mill up for qualifying its more important than ever we qualify. I am not worried about Rangers they won't do more than last season but I am concerned about CL qualification. We need 3 or 4 quality additions. Not talking about squad players we neef 3 or 4 £3mill plus players. If we get it right the extra CL money covers the cost and we also go on to dominate at home so we get another CL spot next season. So having said that can BR get on with brining in these players sooner than later. CL qualifying in 4 weeks!

It's a dead cert Ed we will get Midgeyland and big Eric back for sure (Y)

Every transfer window we all have the same debate.
It centres round how much money should be spent and on how many players.
Most windows leaves me personally underwhelmed with the business that we do. i know we don't need a total overhaul but what we do need is quality.
BR has done everything asked of him and much more. i hope the board back him and send a message out.
If we qualify for this year CL it could push the club light years further ahead of everyone and it would take a big hit to "fold this pack of cards".

Well the rumour mills are in overtime regarding some massive signing, to be announced with two or three others. I would hope McGinn is not regarded as a massive signing, we need top drawer now, or as much as we can spend for the right guy.

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Jun 2018 17:46:12
A massive signing will not be McGinn. I don’t think we will sign anyone in that category. We can’t afford them.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2018 20:28:19
We don't need a massive signing, just to bring someone in who will stabilise the defence, so that it stops giving away silly goals, in Europe, and someone with some creativity in midfield, they don't need to be 'massive' signings as in massive reputations or massive transfer money, just people that will be judged at the end of the season to have had a massive effect.

@Aindoh. The biggest problem we have in Europe is playing far too openly.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2018 15:54:05
To some extent I agree with you, but I think we give European opposition too much respect . We stand off them a little, we are not able to move them into a blind avenues, we panic with ball and release it either too quickly and give it away, or too slowly and let them take it off us .
We just need to settle down and not allow them to dictate us . Domestically we dictate most of most games, we need to up that in Europe Confidence is key.

what's your thoughts on us potentially loaning morgan out? i think we should keep him and would save some money?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

07 Jun 2018 14:31:08
or loan him out and make money. I am sure BR knows best and if he is already good enough or not.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jun 2018 16:44:36
All over the world there are younger players cutting it. If he can’t it has nothing to do with his age. He will just not be good enough. Give him his chance if he can't cut it loan him out then punt him to Dundee.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2018 18:43:51
The question is - can he fit into our first team, or better suited to any season playing regularly in a new environment
And with the continuity of the same manger who knows his abilities?

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jun 2018 19:06:47
Surely judgement will have to be made after pre season. If he stays or goes out on loan again BR will know what is best for the club and the player, as it was with Ajer and Christie. Looking forward to seeing him in action hope he has a great pre season.

07 Jun 2018 19:12:02
I don't doubt the lad has potential. But as many have said before me we have that, in abundance. We need a finished product, more than 1 imo. And with that view i don't think he's going to be anywhere near that yet.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jun 2018 19:18:54
The only way to tell if he’s ready is to give him a go, even if that’s only a run in pre season.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2018 19:32:19
I know a young player that played with him and against him. Says he is some talent but very inconsistent.

He's young, cheap and for the future. Give him 6 months training with us. Find his feet at club. Asses him against the first team.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jun 2018 19:45:37
If he is good enough he wil fit in. If he isn’t it’s another project from the room crammed to bursting with them. Looking great in the championship is no guarantee he can even make our bench. If he can’t make our benchbthen he is nowhere near where we want to be in regard to the CL.

Hopefully he is, but I’ve been hopeful about every project and as yet not one is even on the bench. That’s a worry.

Talking about projects anybody know what happened to the young Australian guy who we signed?

07 Jun 2018 21:16:47
He just signed a 5 year deal MP 😉.

If Morgan is a winger, then it is almost a certainty that he will be inconsistent for at least a number of years.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2018 08:27:25
Well to be fair to Morgan then. Forrest has been since he started and for the second half of the season returned to it.

We have another Forrest.

I hope you are right but it is hard to do, even when you are the dominant team. Just need a bit of bad luck in the cup and you can be out.

07 Jun 2018 09:26:52
Agree with a bit of bad luck of a dodgy ref decision, I just get the feeling Brendan really wants to step it up this season the new hybrid pitch the sound system and the lights everything a level above and The performances on the park he wants to up the level again and he can Hail Hail.

Talking of dodgy refs came across a vid on youtube last night called 'Johnny Doyle and a hun ref'

Before my time so hadn't seen this incident before. Outrageous is an understatement!

There is no doubting the ambition and commitment cascading from the very top of the club and it is very encouraging and satisfying.
I remember successful spells in the past, where we tended to stand still and enjoy the moment, rather than consolidate and strengthen, however, BR is always talking about improvement and has no intention of settling for what we have and giving others any incentive.
The coming transfer window will be our most important since his arrival and although we may lose a couple, I am confident the club have identified the quality we need to progress even further.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jun 2018 10:05:46
I'm quite excited and confident about this being a good window OAB. Getting Bain, Ajer and Rogic tied up early will have been a huge boost to BR. Hopefully Griffiths and Edouard not too far away from being tied up also. Fingers crossed for Dembele too. Be great to get our targets in early and settled in before pre season. Also good to see players who are not in BRs plans leaving.
