This absolutely stinks. SFL are attempting to enter Newco directly into Div 1.

See details below in blog from Tomo: -

"A senior Football League source has just leaked this to me. Note second section which appears to be a clear attempt to by-pass any vote and shoehorn Rangers Newco into Div 1. Incredible.

You have been warned:

Subject: SFL Special General Meeting Friday, 13th July, 2012

Dear Sir or Madam,

NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING SCOTTISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Notice is hereby given that a Special General Meeting of The Scottish Football League will be held within the Bell/Baird Suite on the fifth floor of Hampden Park, Glasgow on Friday, 13th July, 2012 at 11.00 a.m. for the purpose of considering and, if thought fit, approving the following proposals:-

(i) That the Scottish Football League Members agree to admit Sevco Scotland Limited as an Associate Member and agrees to permit Rangers F.C. to play in the League during Season 2012/13.

(ii) That the Scottish Football League Members direct the Board of Management of The Scottish Football League (the Board) to provide that Rangers F.C. shall play in the Third Division of the Scottish Football League during Season 2012/13 unless the Board shall have to its satisfaction negotiated and reached agreement with The Scottish Premier League and The Scottish Football Association on a series of measures which the Board shall consider to be in the best interests of the game, how it is structured, how it is governed and how it is financed, whereupon the Board shall be authorised to provide that Rangers F.C. shall play in the First Division of the Scottish Football League during Season 2012/13.

(iii) That the Scottish Football League Members in terms of Rule 12 approve the resignation of either Dundee F.C. or Dunfermline Athletic F.C., whichever shall be admitted to join the Scottish Premier League for Season 2012/13, such resignation to take effect as at the date of admission of such club to the Scottish Premier League, notwithstanding that the requisite notice under Rule 12 shall not have been given.Details of the series of measures referred to at (ii) above shall be made available to the Members in advance of the meeting and an opportunity for full discussion of those measures will be given prior to the proposals being put to the meeting.

In accordance with the terms of SFL Rule 53, your club must send one representative to this meeting and I would be most grateful if you could advise me of the name of your representative by return.

A buffet lunch will be served at the conclusion of the meeting.

Kind regards,
David A. Longmuir
Chief Executive, SFL."

It has to be Div 3 or a 'holiday' for them..there is no other way now or Scottish football with desend even further into a farce. There is no credibility left at Hampden as it is.

Looks like Sevco 5088 will play in the 1st division after all. The SFL clubs might bitch and moan about it, but they can't afford to say no. Forget integrity, money WILL determine this. Let's just hope that if they are in the first, they can't afford a decent team to win promotion, and spend a few years languishing in the lower league. I know this probably won't happen and they will get back up again, but by that time we might have missed the old firm games enough to want to get back to skelping them again! The decent football fan will never ever forget how this played out to suit the newco shame.

hi ed, if we are not gonna sign anyone new this summer (its still early of course, im not worried. eeek) Id like our starting line up to read as follows:

this is just my opinion of our strongest side.

Forster

Lustig Wanyama Mulgrew Izzy

Kayal

Forrest Brown Ledley

Watt Hooper

i imagine we might sign new folk maybe a centre half. with the knowledge that i may be internet punished here id also maybe drop/sell scott brown as he can sometimes just be a doughball and put kayal and ledders in the middle with kris commons out left or maybe paddy seeing how the guy deserves a game big time.
people may slag paddy for whatever reason but i think he may be a good player for europe as he can change games. sadly though maybe he is ideal as a super sub. still would like him to get a run of 10 games or so. people say he cant last a full match. so what. put him on for the first 60 and let him do the damage. Also this markus henriksen lad looks like a player imo. hope we can get the deal.
thats my piece
ParadiseAndy

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I think it would benefit everyone if Paddy left, the ability is unquestioned but a luxury player that doesn't really contribute anything apart from the odd 'wonder goal' from the bench, cult hero but not a player we can rely on to put a shift in if we do manage to get to champions league proper, Scott Brown has to play, no coincedence that when he is injured we tend to struggle. johnbhoy79

Hang on a minute Lennon said only last week that whatever happens at ibrox celtics transfer plans wouldn't be affected? So why now is he saying that he must sell?

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Because maybe Celtic have finally woken up to what is happening in Scottish Football. Good preparation for Champions league, maybe selling one of your best players to be replaced by who? A second rate championship player. Worried or still think the garden is green and rosie?

All this talk of selling Ki. Where would you get another such player for that sort of money - which seems to be the only prerogative. I live in Seoul for the time being - where we see old men and young boys wearing the hoops: much more so than man utd strips or whatever. This makes me smile nearly every day - and the revenue surely means there's no need to cash in on his obvious quality. Chill out - give him a proper turn in the team this term - and see what happens!

Now that the SPL clubs have said no to a Newco in the SPL what do you think Ed will be the outcome in deciding where they will play next year if indeed they can put everything in place to play next season at all in any division. PaisleyBhoy. {Ed007's Note - The time-scale is their biggest enemy just now. For me though it has to be SFL3, there really is no other option without making a mockery of the whole system.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Ed What do you think spartans chances are if they took the sfa or SFL to fifa to cas for allowing sevco entry into the SFL as I am sure you need three years of audited accounts before you can submit an application to be allowed access to the league format. its in the sfa/SFL rulebook.

I think probably, Like a lot of Celtic fans that even without Rangers in the league after 2 maybe 3 seasons if they can keep the core of the team say 6 or 7 players they can dominate the SPL and make decent inroads into Europe,What do you think..ED {Ed007's Note - I don't see why not, making an impression in the CL group stages and maybe getting a bit of luck there could be the odd last-16 spot.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Are both of you having a laugh lmao.you must be lfc supporters as well as you are both totally deluded.the money is simply going to dry up.spl clubs are going to have to cut their cloth accordingly.celtic need a team good enough to win the spl by 4-5 points, any more than that will be extravagance they cant afford as they wont generate the income anymore to pay for quality players they dont need.EUROPE LMAO get real it will become an embarrassment to watch any scottish team trying to qualify for europe in a few years time.i dont support any scottish team,my team plays in london but i do feel sorry for the rangers supporters and unfortunatly i thing rangers are going to bounce along the bottom for a few years before they then fold completly, shortly followed by several other spl teams if not before rangers.you lot may be laughing at the misfortune of rangers, but rangers is your alter ego reflection looking back at you every time you look in the mirror. and the morning you wake up and look in the mirror and your despised alter ego isnt there anymore looking back at you, well then your dead.you just wont realise it for a while.CL YOUR HAVING A LAUGH

Agree2 Disagree3

In all honesty, unless there is some serious money made available to strengthen the team from season to season, I think Celtic will struggle to make in roads in the Champions League. Europa Cup.. maybe VHSS

Agree2 Disagree0

In reply to the mock cockney who keeps laughing his ar5e off. is this what old rangers supporters have come to. masquerading as people who support A team from london. because they're too ashamed, to admit their team died of corruption.. nobody supports a team from london, you support spurs, arsenal or who ever.... you do feel sorry for the rangers supporters because you are one.... shamrock

Worth a read. At last a club who can see through the sfa/spl lies!

Raith Rovers statement:

The club has this evening received the notice of resolutions to be voted on next Friday and we are told to expect an information pack at some time next week. We hope that this pack will present a more balanced report to SFL member clubs than they have so far received.

At last Tuesday’s meeting, financial information provided by Neil Doncaster showed an unrealistic worst case scenario. It showed the impact of potential total loss of 3 TV contracts, all of which had been inexplicably agreed on the basis that the broadcaster could walk away if either Rangers or Celtic were not in the SPL. His information did not, however, set out the potentially positive impact of negotiating replacement contracts with other broadcasters or alternatively the much mentioned possibility of launching SPL TV (which we understand could have been launched within a matter of months).

Mr Doncaster warned SFL members that if these contracts were indeed lost, this would mean the annual payment to the SFL under the Settlement Agreement would either be greatly reduced or not paid at all. Raith Rovers FC believes this not to be the case, and that the SPL would remain both contractually obliged and able to pay the £1.9m – £2m annual sum, even in that worst case scenario. We call upon the SFL Board to clarify its view on this vital point urgently, before club boards finalise their positions on these important votes.

We are also concerned that there has not as yet been an opportunity for clubs to receive legal advice from the SFL and/or debate the potential consequences on the smooth running of our league in the event that the Courts are asked to annull/strike down any of the corporate transactions that have led to the current position of Sevco Scotland Ltd as owners of certain assets of the Rangers oldco. Indeed, the position as regards the potential sanctions to be applied by the Scottish FA via its Appellate Tribunal has also still to be bottomed out. In summary, we remain concerned that the SPL clubs have overwhelmingly voted to pass on this potential time bomb, which may yet explode once passed to the SFL’s jurisdiction, and we are being asked to accept this new company into membership, worse still in our top division.

Without all of this information, and the opportunity for clubs to further discuss these issues on a fully informed basis amongst themselves before the formal SGM, in a similar format to last Tuesday’s meeting, we are concerned that the fairness and transparency of the process itself is at risk of being compromised.

Raith Rovers FC will consider its stance with regard to attendance at this meeting once we receive the information from the SFL.

Briggs

Believable2 Unbelievable1

A very good statement. All we have had from regan etc. is a worst case scenario focussed only on the negative impact. At no time have any positive points been discussed. If its true that sky had old firm guarantees in their contract it is inexplicable and indefensible. Dont be surprised to hear another meeting has been set up to discuss sevco in spl as the timescale is now too short. The most damaging thing about all of this is how long its taking. Sevco should have been applying to div 3 by default. If the spl/sfa have signed contracts which contradict their own regulations the executives responsible should resign.

Reading today's Record it looks like Rangers will start in Div.1...But if they do, Does that not set a precedent for other clubs to liquidate and leave their debt behind,Then start in Div.1,Sorry if this has been posted before.Oh and will Livingstone not have anything to say about it.??

Believable2 Unbelievable1

If rangers ( or what ever u want to call them) go straight into Div 1 what's to stop every other club with unsustainable debt going into liquidation and expecting to go straight into Div 1? A marker has to be put down here or our game is f* ck*d forever.
