I see that that Mark McKenzie has signed for Genk today.
Not sure if he would have got a work permit to play in Scotland even if we had been interested.

We've suffered on that front already. somewhere in yankland are two lost hoops probably who'll never be seen in Glasgow.

Ray a fantastic player I was gutted when he went to Liverpool for what £480,000? But I always remember Liverpool won the league when he was manager and Celtic won the league as well either the same day or thereabouts. The reporter pointed it out to him and his reply always stuck in my mind -words to the effect ‘Whit are you telling me that fur I’m the Liverpool manager’. So never seen him as a man who ever had Celtic at heart.

440 it was, he was made captain in hope he would stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 22:59:18
Would you rather have a player who had Celtic at their heart, I can think of one or two at the minute, or a player like Kenny, who was the best player, I ever seen playing for Celtic, and it was £440,000.

After his time at Celtic with John Barnes, he was finished in my eyes.

DEAR RECRUITMENT PERSON OR PERSONS AT CELTIC PARK. With regard to player recruitment in the January transfer window and potentially Benkovic we need players that can come in and hit the ground running to bridge the gap between us and them which is largely due to the clubs recruitment activity to date. We don't need sick notes, projects, ex-players or players who haven't been playing and would need half of the half season we have left to get fit. . PS: I hope you enjoyed the break in the sun and happy to have made a £559 times two charitable donation towards it. It's been feckn freezing here. Kind Regards. jfp.

Leicester have recalled Benkovic because he couldn’t get a regular game for Cardiff.
He played his first and only game of the season only 9 days ago.
Benkovic went on as a sub and played 70 minutes.
He’s spent the rest of the time either injured or on the Cardiff bench.
I agree JFP, we need someone who is currently match fit.

We all know a CH and winger are needed asap but it will be the usual hanging about and low bids from Lawell.

Think Benkovic is a great player but as you pointed out he is not what we need due to his injuries.

08 Jan 2021 14:49:04
He’s a pu$$¥ we could do without any more of that type.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 18:38:13
If benkovic is fit getting him back for me is a no brainer. He's clearly not in Leicester's plans and he's proved here before he can play up here easy.

i was hoping he would have joined in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 19:28:17
Don't know how much truth there was in the last minute rumour last summer - or if it was just wishful thinking? However with both our wingers currently injured or recovering, a winger has been a priority.

In response to GGGG
Before we lost to Sevco in October,
Celtic under Neil Lennon had won 33 games out of a possible 36 domestic games.
The majority of the players we still have were part of that run.
Now that we’ve found a system that works,
Celtic are more than capable of going on a fantastic winning run.
Two of those games we didn’t win were on the plastic pitches at Livingston and Kilmarnock.
But we’ve found out we need to play 2 up front on these surfaces to create the chances we need to win.
Baz Fergie might be on to something
“No Whit A Mean”.

Since Sevco lost at home to Hamilton in March.
They are currently on a run of 22 wins from 25 domestic games.

If preparation for next season doesn't start this month, our slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League will disappear.

It is possible that we could win 18 out of the 19 remaining games and Rangers slip up 5 times but there's not a lot of evidence to suggest it will happen so we need to be realistic.

Clear out should begin now, everyone I've spoken to are over losing 10IAR. Winning the league next year and getting the automatic CL spot in 22/ 23 is imperative now.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 15:39:27
As long as it's mathematically possible we will compete 100%. However, I am sick fed-up of consecutive poor preparation and last minute quick fix transfers every year for qualifiers we perennially falter at, against teams we realistically should beat.
TRIFC 2012 have had much less experience, quality or resources, but have made great progress in two years of European football.
The current Board are repeat offenders when it comes to complacency, hesitation and stubbornness - verging on incompetence and that is why we are where we are right now.
This is not a slight hiccup or a run of bad luck, it's the result of very poor planning, realization, anticipation and keeping ahead of your rivals with intelligent, prompt action.
We must have no more smugly looking backwards, shrugging their shoulders and burying their heads in the sand hoping for the best.

Agree4 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 16:02:07
We win all our games that includes two against Sevco. That means one loss and one draw for them other than thst and it's 10. If we can't defeat them twice it's a but rich to expect anyone else to. I think over the 20 they have, we can beat them twice, depending on this window sorting the defence. and they clowns will drop points hooefully starting at the Dandies.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 16:21:14
Sevco have 4 games coming up with 3 away against Aberdeen Motherwell and Hibs so hopefully they drop a few points and we go on a winning run.

Sevco are on a run of 14 league wins in a row and the 6 officials you’ve mentioned above have played a part in 11 of those games.
Alan Muir has also been the referee in one of the other matches and he’s worse than the 6 mentioned.
It seems to be if you write a letter of complaint, you get to pick and choose who will Not be allowed to referee your game.
They have a doubler for their next game away to Aberdeen,
Beaton will be the referee, with Ross as his assistant.

Think we should push the boat out for Steve Clarke. What's your views. Think he has great potential. Hail hail.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2021 13:46:22
Steve Clarke was my choice when Ronnie got the job.
I think Clarke was 8/ 1 at the time for the job.
I don’t think Celtic would lose 20 goals from set pieces in half a season if he was our manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 14:19:17
Definitely a better defensive coach, but the sectarianism from the **** would be a huge hurdle, especially when our Establishment, Broadcasters, Government and Police still condone it in 2021.

With all our bad luck this season, you just KNOW what is coming next

The Dubai trip has drawn so much criticism and now the Government is talking about refusing entry to anyone not testing negative.
What are the odds of one or more of our squad being POSITIVE re entering scotland.

The luck has certainly deserted us, but a lot has been brought on by ourselves, with self-inflicted 'damage' one way or another.
Right from the Bolingoli farce in August, a lot of our decisions have been questionable in the least. Let's hope for better luck, common sense and old fashioned, hard graft in 2021 and see what happens?

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 12:50:33
This was always going to be an issue and the club will be a laughing stock if it happens Tim. it was too big a risk to take.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 13:15:51
We have been heading to where we are for years. A deid club over taking us is self inflicted. Lack if ambition, dreadful recruitment, a manager who persisted with players out if form. couldn't see Soro and Turnbull were the real deal. Pushed Duffy up as a striker after taking Griff off Never being prepared for the CL, playing with McGreggor st LB, going without a strike, is all down to Lawell and Desmond for where we are. These weeks coming we will see if they respond. Its long overdue. They can start by sacking everyone involved 8n recruitment. Our buy 5 players hope one is good needs to end.

Id be interested on the legality of that Mally considering there is a travel corridor between Scotland and the UAE. To change the goalposts so to speak solely for Celtic would open up a can of worms.

magicpole. a dead club that has spent over 80 mill in scottish football since it was formed 8 years ago any one spending 80 mill pound in Scottish football in that amount of time is going to challenge whether that is a dead club or east fife.

Ryan
The difference is Celtic have brought in £130 million in transfers in the last 9 years.
The most profit Sevco have made on any player in their whole history is Windass.
And that profit wouldn’t cover 38 year old Defoe’s annual salary.
Last season Sevco received only £700k on player transfers.
Yet the SFA allow them to accumulate more debt than the other 41 Scottish clubs combined every single season.
If they had morals,
They would’ve spent that £80 million paying off creditors,
And brought Rangers FC out of their Liquidation process.
They could then go after a real and proper 55th title.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 17:40:39
exactly my point ryan they have spent the same amount of money as us basically and that's why they are challenging. as buzz stated they have ran at a loss and accumulated more debt than every club in the country combined. the question is how are they allowed to spend that if they do not make money were is the money coming from how can a company survive with debts of over 80 mill pound yet still spend big like there rivals who are cash rich and pull in mass profits

does this sound a bit familiar like the club before them debt after debt every season to gain success then it all came on top of them. there only punishment was play in the leagues below for 4 year everything is forgot about. there was nothing our club could have done for them to get were they are its the people who run Scottish football who are allowing them to get strong wile every other club has to spend within its means. be proud your a Celtic fan and our success was gained on share footballing ability and class and playing the game fairly.

big french eddy has changed his agent could this be him trying to get a move if so best to take the cash in January and buy a replacement. let his mate go ntcham to.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2021 11:07:43
I would sell him this month and give a replacement time to settle for next season. On form he's a good player but not as good as he thinks he is.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 11:46:14
Yep, read that this morning.

It seems Eddy is itching to get out of Dodge asap and with 7 goals this season and a contract that's up next Summer, I'd be looking to get as much as we can for him as quickly as possible.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 11:47:31
At this stage of the season can only really see a relegation threatened pub team going for broke. Not sure he would be interested in that. We will see though.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 12:03:52
it may be he is trying to wangle a pre contract and pocket a few quid.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 12:40:04
It's a catch 22 because he was valued at £30m+ when he was at his best, but after such a poor season, the constraints of the January window and clubs struggling for cash, we would be lucky to get £20m and that with a with the 30% sell-on clause conditions.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 12:49:44
offer him new contract a years extension on top of his 18 months left if he hits 15 goals from here to the end of season he gets a nice bonus with an agreement to sell in the summer. if he knocks back the contract then just sell in January to highest bidder.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 12:51:32
The leagues gone so take the dosh and buy a right cheap replacement that will sit on the bench 😅😅.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 13:38:21
We sold KT for £25m and spent £3m in replacing him. with an absolute disaster. That sums up everyth8ng wrong with Lawell. Not only does he go cheap, but his punts are 90% guaranteed to be duds. There is a list as l8ng as Argyle St of this disastrous strategy. If our recruitment team are useless, it doesn't matter how much we spend, it's either cheap crap or expensive crap. The prices range, the crap is a constant.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2021 17:48:48
we spent over 5 mill to replace him we bought 2 left backs then we spent 7 million on Julien so a large chunk was put back in to the defence to be fair.

Julien has been a good signing taylor is a decent player and capable boli came with a good cv but just did not work out. to replace some one of Tierney's ability was a huge task as the boy has everything he is the best player in that arsenal team right now probably a good argument for them as the 3rd biggest club in that league everyone down there is ravening about him he will go on to be the best left back in that league and possibly player of the year for the league at some point. so to replace him with some one with same ability was a huge ask we were never going to be as strong at left back when he moved.

See Edouard has a new agent does this mean he seeking a move and this new agent can deliver what he's after?
