Alright lads. What's your thoughts on leigh Griffiths contract situation. By the time his contract is up he will be 31. Has he lost his peace and unable to get fitness levels back to his best. Will he get a new contract or will club sell him in the summer.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Feb 2021 23:18:53
The fact that some fans feel we need him shows how far we have regressed.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 23:23:03
Cork paul - Sell.
He can still score goals but for him, as a professional football player, not being fit and available for selection at the start of the season, especially this season is, for me, unforgivable.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 23:26:39
I'd offer him to Aberdeen or Hibs in a deal for Ferguson, Porteous, Nesbitt or even Boyle. Ok none should make our first XI next season but potential is there. We will move forward and the likes of Griff and Rogic need moving on.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 06:48:17
This year, only turnbull, welsh, taylor and soro have been decent enough to earn a place, id try and flog the most of the squad to get bigger budget and less chance of disruption from any wantaways for next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 08:08:51
The older he gets the less wise he becomes and although may be the most natural finisher, he will never be that 40-goal man again and the fitness, fatness and tantrums are wearing thin on club and fans.
Thanks for the good times LG, but a player-plus deal is best for all.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 09:12:38
As good as griffs can be the guy doesn't appear to have the right mentality to keep going at this level. The fact he came back over weight and unfit was shocking. He may be a great goal scorer but when can't manage to get on the pitch then he is not much use to us. Time to move him on.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 10:40:38
There’s going to be big changes at the club next season and it’s a perfect time for Griffiths to move on and also for Brown to take a coaching role.
If Brown wants to continue playing then he will also need to move on.
Celtic need new young blood in our team to compete next season.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 10:45:48
hes taking a wage from us, and a huge one at that his bad attitude towards fitness is there to see, he thinks he's still got but its gone at this level its not enough to score the odd goal, he's done lads time for him to move on. before he ruins everything,

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 10:54:21
Griffiths will be at Celtic till the end of his contract, I would love to see him sold however he’s on a lucrative wage which no other team would match or better, I’d be surprised if he was willing to take a wage cut to leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 09:36:55
I love griffiths, he’s be in my team every week up top with edouard based on what we currently have. I to have criticised him for his attitude and fitness especially pre season. On the fitness side of things and I agree with ED, every player should strive to be the fittest they can be. My question is this, how many players this season has lennon questions on their fitness? Why are these players unfit? Is it because they simply can’t be arsed? Or is it deeper than that and down to the management and what they’re doing in order to get them fit? If it was just griffiths I’d say ok he’s at it, but by Lennons own admission there’s a helluva lot more players he’s claimed aren't fit enough, why is that?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Why did it take Ajeti so long to get fit even if he didn't have a full preseason we're in February now and that's just a glaringly obvious one but as you say the fitness level of the whole squad is very poor but that would mean Lennon admitting there's fault on his part.}

08 Feb 2021 12:50:21
Send them all to Andy's from now on.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 14:38:51
Griffiths should be done at celtic. The nonsense from him is now outweighing the good.
We should use him as a part of a deal to get Nisbet from hibs.

07 Feb 2021 21:16:54
Did anybody see the start of the Sheffield Utd v Chelsea game? A mate sent me a picture of the Sheffield players in a huddle, 2 weren’t partaking, fleck and mcburnie 😂 how petty is that.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

07 Feb 2021 21:54:22
Steph it’s good to know the Huddle annoys them.
Another 9 in a row and a Quadruple Treble has seriously affected them.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 08:10:45
They can still boycott their teams huddle when they get relegated, victimized, demoted or whatever Sevconians call it these days.

08 Feb 2021 09:44:02
who is there captained i would have went through them not participating with the team to prepare for a match because they support another team.

It's also been a strange season for Liverpool without their fans.
They're breaking all kinds of records for the wrong reasons similar to Celtic.
Losing 7-2 in the league.
A few weeks ago they went 8 hours without scoring a league goal.
Losing at home in the league 3 times in a row for the first time since 1963.
Earlier in the season Celtic lost 4 games in a row at home for the first time since 1957/ 58.
This is definitely a season to forget in trying to win the behind closed doors title but with the changes coming throughout the club and with our amazing fans back in Paradise, we can get back to our glory days.

07 Feb 2021 18:59:53
Well said Buzz.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 19:34:33
First time they let 4 in since 2009. Remember the 4 - 4 game against Arsenal ( Andre Arshavin ) . At the moment they are missing big Virgil.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Aston Villa beat them 7-2 in October with van Dijk in the team - maybe there's an ex-defender on the coaching staff they can blame 😁

07 Feb 2021 20:12:51
No excuses we’ve been sh. te they’ve been sh. te.

Lol Ed
Damn defensive coaches that can’t coach defenders, maybe they could get Carragher in to pass on his wisdom although not sure sly could do without such outstanding punditry lol 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can just see Carragher standing there giving the players a spiel and they all turn round to Klopp to translate it for them 😂

07 Feb 2021 20:25:13
Who is the ex defender Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - ??}

07 Feb 2021 20:50:15
Corkpaul think Ed007 was relating it to folk slagging off Kennedy for our defensive lapses this season, due to him having been a defender.
Lol Ed007 his is a real thick (being the operative word) scouse accent, saw him at the tail end of soccer am (weeks ago) giving it 'c'mon stevie g's gers against hibs as they're going for the treble'!
Not sure if he's so thick that he believed that (or blanked out st Mirren pumping sevco in the cup) or he thinks they've a hope in hell of the UEFA cup lol not to mention we can win our 5th Scottish cup in a row n will be going all out to do so, if its played/ played to a conclusion.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've actually started watching SoccerAM again recently, it's nowhere near what it was like but it passes an hour and a half when I get up and tidying up on the sites. I've been arguing with myself for months though that Jimmy Bullard used to be called Jamie, but it's like I always thought that TV show Grotbags watched was called Sex In the City but it's really always been Sex and the City, and Looney Toons was really Looney Tunes - this $hit keeps me up at night mate 🤦‍♂️
Oh and don't even get me started on the Star Wars stuff like C3POs silver leg and how Darth Vader broke the news to Luke in TESB.}

07 Feb 2021 21:35:58
Used to love soccer am, especially when Noel G was on it, I catch it now and again when I remember. Jimmy Bullard lol mind him doing the was it Phil (cant mind his surname) that did the lecture on the pitch Haha I thought it was sex in the city too, shows what I know 😂
It bothers me more that simbas dad was Luke's dad too lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Here's one, the Jack character from Titanic is really a time traveller sent back to save Rose from dying 😉 Google it lol He mentions fishing at a lake that didn't exist until 1917 and he promises to take Rose to a fairground or ride on the Santa Monica pier which wasn't built until 1916.
What if Jack never actually existed like in The Sixth Sense or Dead Man's Shoes?
I can talk absolute garbage about stuff like that 😂 I need to get out more when this lockdown's over.}

07 Feb 2021 22:18:07
So is bendy water real or not?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not answering that but I will say you should ask LG, he's never been the same since that happened. International football has never been the same since Diana Ross missed that penalty at the opening ceremony of USA '94 and LG has never been the same since this:

07 Feb 2021 22:30:19
I'm going to tell my son that 1. He is obsessed with the titanic, been to the museum over in Belfast and he loves the DiCaprio film (God knows why and he's watched it multiple timeslol) and is a bit of a history buff especially with ships,
He has a book on the titanic, the DVD, a Lego titanic set, memorabilia from the museum and everything haha can't wait to pickle his mind lol
I bore the missus with constant talk of the Beatles and John Lennon/ oasis over and above anything and everything Celtic related. That and married with children/ al Bundy lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Make her watch the Last Will and testament of George Harrison and stuff about how Paul McCartney died in a car crash in the 60s that'll lead you to stuff about Laurel Canyon (Google Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon) and what was behind the 60s hippie movement in LA. I'm not saying all this stuff is real btw but it's interesting to watch and think about and a bit of a laugh - and I know piles of it lol
What's the Al Bundy stuff about?

07 Feb 2021 22:33:39
That fandan who is spouting pish about flat earth needs his head examined.

There is loads of proof that the earth is a sphere. You can use Gaussian geometry of spheres for example. Or you can set up a laser and detector and fire the laser over a long distance and it shows that the earth curves over large distances because the laser does not hit the detector.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So how does that explains LG's fitness problems since then - it's a hex I tell ye 😂👍 Isn't Gaussian geometry based on the ASSUMPTION that during any measurement values will follow a normal distribution with an equal number of measurements above and below the mean value?
I Googled that just to be annoying LAW lol I have no idea what it means 😁

08 Feb 2021 09:45:54
This is called the bell curve.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Feb 2021 09:45:23
You are talking about gauss distribution, which is different topic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍😁

08 Feb 2021 00:25:11
Think of it like this, if you had 2 people standing at the equator at a different line of longitude and they both headed north in a straight line. If the earth was flat they would remain parallel and never meet. However, if the surface is curved like a sphere, they will meet at the top of the sphere. This is easily testible.

Also in cruved geometry the angles in a triangle no longer add up to 180 degrees.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You know far too much about this stuff, LAW. Answer me this then, if you had 2 people standing at the equator at a different line of longitude and they both headed north in a straight line would the see a fit LG? 😁

07 Feb 2021 23:17:26
Ed I watched some documentary on laurel canyon, with Crosby stills and nash, Jim Morrison moved in for a bit, Joni Mitchell was down there too, which was all before Manson moved in and then it all went a bit Pete tong and the nobody trusted a hippie.
The macca rumours were really funny, the fact Lennon sang about it in how do you sleep seemed to add to the myth, it's kinda like the 1s about jim Morrison being down somewhere in Africa and that elvis is still being spotted in burger joints in Alabama or some other red neck area lol
Al bundy is just I love al bundy from the show and bore her with tales of episodes featuring my hero lol (yes not really my hero but the character is just gem) . I even have an al bundy polk high football shirt with the name bundy, folk kept asking me if it was for Ted bundy Haha
Apart from his fitness, or lack, but lg's first touch recently had been gash. In general in football seems a common thing that a first touch takes you 5 yards back the way lol, what happened to stopping the ball dead.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Al Bundy? that's just weird mate 😂

Ben Davies still not fit even for the Liverpool bench, Maybe we were right to ask for a fitness clause. How many players have arrived not fit to play.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Feb 2021 17:46:54
Surprised he isn't fit as he played a lot of games for PNE.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 18:32:34
Maybe they have accepted standards of fitness that all players must achieve before getting into first team and he's not at that level. almost like a contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 19:23:45
Apparently we had a fit to play clause in his contract? If that’s the case well done Celtic we needed a centre half who could hit the ground running not warm the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 19:37:21
Davies was on the bench Wednesday against Brighton.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 20:13:52
Jonbhoy seems strange that 1 as if he hadn’t left them he’d have played regularly at Preston. Jfp heard folk slagging us for having inserted such a clause, surprised they didn’t blame Lenny for that too Lol well done Lawell then as we need players to play straight away like Kenny has, but I do find it strange given he was playing regularly but also how bad Liverpool are doing at the minute defensively you’d have thought he may have went in straight away.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's a massive step up from PNE to Liverpool and people are misunderstanding this "fitness clause" it wasn't that at all - it was a clause in the pre-contract that Davies had to be fit when he joined Celtic, it was all part of Lawwell looking for that leverage I spoke of, basically sign this and push for a move or risk playing for PNE and breaking your leg - then the deal's off and you have no security when you return from the injury.
It was nothing to do with questioning Davies fitness.}

07 Feb 2021 20:44:13
Looked the type of player we need but c'mon when Liverpool call can’t blame him. Stories knocking about are all clickbait the guy has landed on his feet there good luck to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

07 Feb 2021 21:16:49
Ah I get you Ed, I just thought with the frailties with liverpool's defending they may have thrown him in, but I get it's a step up. At least pl was playing hardball as he gets accused of not having our best interests at heart enough. Regardless I'm just glad Welsh is getting game time as he needs the experience and he hasn't let us down when he's played. And unlike some he seems like hed run through a brick wall for the Celtic. Hail hail.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Lawwell has always has Celtic's best interests at heart, the problem was he took on the responsibility that he wasn't qualified to do, at least he listened to John Park but after he left Lawwell thought he had learned from Park like a Peter-san Mr MayagiPark type of deal and that was never going to work.
What happened in 2012 & Res 12 - but that's a whole different shambles - should have been Lawwell's Waterloo and even ignoring that the McGinn saga should have seen him reigned in but the 10 in a row hype helped him survive, he's pushed that ticket for years and the board and fans settled for just being better than TRIFC.
Lawwell thought we had done enough and spent enough £ to win the 10 but he messed up with appointing Lennon, that was the pinnacle of a down ward trajectory. If we had (or do lol) win the 10 Lawwell would have been front and centre claiming the plaudits and rode of into the sunset, I honestly believe he would have left at the end of this season regardless
Oh and Lawwell can take the Hearts supporting head of PR guy that likes to remain anonymous with him.}

07 Feb 2021 21:50:23
Ed I don’t doubt lawells love for the club but I’ve always felt that his business head has known that financially sponsorship wise the old firm as a selling point was needed so the remit was as long as were ahead. Res 12 is a shambles Lennons appointment is a shambles Lennon still being here is a shambles. We all could see we weren’t progressing but in all fairness we assumed 10 was a given. This season is embarrassing from the board to management to players and it’s us fans who have been let down. Accountability should be taken and would go a long way in the eyes of us who have forked out a small fortune in a C.V. to support the club we love.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't argue with any of that, Welshy. Just look how quickly all the Lawwell and Lennon cheerleaders have turned though. It was nothing to do with Res 12 and the governance of the game, domestic FFP, abject failure to progress in Europe - even under Rodgers - or the wasted money on projects until we fell behind TRIFK in the league by four points. Even if we were 21 points ahead the underlying problems that have been there would be ignore because we're winning the 10.
What was the Club's plans after that, just going for 11 or actually trying to realise the potential we have without worrying about poxy TV deals.
Extend the main stand and that'll bring in more money than we get off TV, after Covid is over push to allow Scottish teams the sole rights to stream their own games worldwide and we'll soon see where the money and advertising regarding Scottish football goes.
We've all read what Rangers director Hugh Adams said about Rangers worldwide appeal in 2002, Celtic need to start using our worldwide appeal better.}

07 Feb 2021 21:57:15
Yeh its a pity as he could and the way sevco are playing he still might😉 go out in a blaze of glory having delivered the 'holy grail'. Park signed us some cracking players, as well as some not so great however I'd say more good than bad, I just don't know why pl felt he should do that football role, ego? As financially he clearly is top notch. The McGinn 1 was a strange 1 as Brendan, correct me if I'm wrong told him he couldn't guarantee him 1st team football, and I assume pl thought hed sign for us no matter what and allowed villa to snatch him with the offer of guaranteed 1st team football and leaving McGinn hanging. Looking now he would certainly be a starter and possible contender for captain as well, did pl not learn under rd with Scott allan, the chosen 1 lol, kazimir richards etc that picking players wasnt really his forte.
Plus our midfield would be class with soro/ brown, McGinn, McGregor, Turnbull, and wee James.
As for the hearts guy, (take Gerry the soup taker with him) and give jp a more prominent role.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Brendan Rodgers had McGinn in his house for a couple of meals and told him what his role in the team would be and was going to be in the future, it was up to Lawwell to do that deal with Hibs and he dropped the ball. Petrie was quite entitled to ask for more money than he wanted off Villa as that is common when selling to a team you're fighting against in maybe not the league but cups, that's the way transfer fees work.
Did Lawwell think McGinn would sit out his contract and sign for his boyhood club to make a personal dream come true - I think so - but McGinn was never going to do that and stiff Hibs of a fee and St Mirren their sell-on clause.}

07 Feb 2021 23:03:06
Yip ed, I agree he gambled on McGinn just signing as it was the boyhood dream, shame really as he would be a mainstay and for even £5 million would have been a steal. One of my main worries about the club is the lack of progression to the 1st team over the last 25 odd years from the youth, as that should be providing us with a good core of the team added to with genuine quality.
Which would cut transfer fees and give us a bit more to spend on quality rather than quantity, add that to extending stands and as you say using our worldwide brand to better use would generate cash too, as would have champions league qualifications if we had prepared better, ie players in earlier rather than gambling on qualifying then look to get players in.
Too many are into the 'old firm' talk despite the fact it is no more.
The hibs game that Turnbull goal should have won, I was taken aback at how poor some of our youths were (the livi game after was worse) , whether that is down to coaching, lack of experience/ games/ fitness/ strength or players themselves not up to it but we don't have enough ready to make the step up, as far as I can see, except Welsh and time will tell on Robertson and Henderson.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - For me it's down to a general lack of discipline, poor coaching and youngsters looking for & getting too much too soon without them having to put in the hard work to get it.}

07 Feb 2021 12:59:09
Seems we raked in 800 grand for Elham on top of the reported 8.5 Mill from Frimpong and the ntcham wage going that's a tidy sum. naybe we'll blow it on a couple of quality players in summer 😆.

07 Feb 2021 13:29:34
What was the sell on fee from Moussa's transfer to Atletico Madrid.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He's only there on loan mate but the agreed we'll get between £1m - £1.5 million if they finalise the deal in the summer.}

07 Feb 2021 13:49:49
Mally we need you and rest of the bhoys on here to keep the faith.

If Fergal Harkin is to be our D. O. F that could be a big step for the club. Baring in mind our connection to Man City via PL's son (not sure if he's still there) we could, through Larkin, have access to some very good players as City have been stockpiling some of the best young talent in Europe for years.

We just need announce the new manager in the next couple of months and we'll be on the one road singing a song.

07 Feb 2021 14:13:00
Pedro you’re bang on the negativity is depressing. Night is darkest just before the dawn to maintain your lyrical theme. Even as regards this season I’ve conceded nothing. We should be playing every game like a cup final and see where we end up. It’s maybe unlikely but anything can happen. It’s never over until the fat lady sings. She’s warming her vocal chords but she hasn’t sang.

All our "connection" to Man City has brought is players who have left there as no chance of getting game Come up here think too good for us and then leave We need rethink whole strategy regarding youngsters. I'd prefer buying from lower leagues where potentially good kids see us as big club and dream destination. As opposed to stepping stone To where billy bigtime attitude thinks should be Our own kids should be good enough or shouldn't be there. Whole setup needs major rethink.

Spot on jfp, we fight till the end, that’s the Celtic way and given Sevco form wouldn’t surprise me to see them drop more points. They’ve had masses of luck, referees scared to give decisions against them but they are a poor team n it’s the same core of players playing week after week and Hamilton showed how to play them, pin the full backs in and put them under pressure and they are very beatable. We would have beaten them had it not been for another bad decision, never a red for Bitton, have to laugh at the ‘it was as a goal scoring opportunity’ pants, who had the ball? Misses a lot! so no chance he was scoring and he was on the wing. Last time I checked a goal scoring opportunity was when your through on goal, which he wasn’t as Ajer was easily covering/ getting across. However unlike a lot we concede nothing, I find that pathetic. While our form has been patchy while there’s games to be played we keep going as nobody ever knows in football, think this season has proved that. Hail hail.

07 Feb 2021 15:52:58
Bigshaw agreed 100%. If could do it I’d send you Ed’s Vladimir Putin hand clap in agreement GIPHY.

Every time the players pull the jersey on it should be do or die and we’ll see what happens. I thought I was the only one that didn’t think it was a red card Ajer was covering. If Hamilton can take points off them anybody can take points off them. We should forget them concentrate on our ourselves one game at a time and see where we are in May.

👍 jfp spot on with your reply too mate. Go and Try and win all games and see where it takes us and we’ll see how the silly billies get on, there’s a way of playing them and they’re distinctly average when they don’t get their usual penalties or men sent off.
if half the panty wetters who’ve already given up were in my team I’d have booted their baws over and over. (faithfully through and through lol 😂)
Not to forget if it goes that far, a possible history making 5th Scottish cup In a row.
No matter what happens Glasgow Celtic is still the greatest football team in the world and I just can’t get enough. hail hail.

You’ve definitely won a watch with your good lady Ed.
I liked watching Cobra Kai, it brought back good memories from watching the Karate Kid films when I was younger.
I just finished watching Suits last night. It took me months to watch all 9 seasons.
My favourite box sets have been Prison Break and Outlander.
I hope your feeling more like yourself soon.

{Ed007's Note - Thank you, BB. Yeah Cobra Kai is a good wee trip down memory lane. I'm not really into watching things that have already got a pile of seasons, I tried watching Breaking Bad and got to be about the 6th season and rapped it. I prefer documentaries and the docu-dramas about serial killers (Mindhunter is amazaing) and other stuff about UFOs and aliens.
I now consider myself to be an ancient astronaut theorist and have updated my CV accordingly 😁 I haven't cut my hair or shaved since we went into the 2nd lockdown I am starting to look like Giorgio A. Tsoukalos.}

There will been plenty of people looking like that these days, women included. 😂
I forgot about Breaking Bad, that’s also one of favourites also.

07 Feb 2021 11:42:55
We spent £5m on Barkas and released Craig Gordon and couldn’t re-sign square jaw McGraw for whatever reason. If you list every act of self harm inflicted on the club by those in control and calculate the substantial sums of money spent to get us to where we are at the moment there is more than sufficient evidence to sack Peter Lawell, Nick Hammond and Neil Lennon.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 11:49:51
My friends now so good with the goalkeepers Enrico still cannot work out why Gordon got what he wanted he would have been safe pair of hands in goals this season.

Johnny Hayes Gordon and big Jozo should have been kept on for a season of this importance

Enrico is away for a walk with the dogs before sipping a few grape juices this afternoon. 🍷🍀.

Better than Bain, Barkas and Hazard which is all that matters at this time in the context of this argument and one of the best shotstoppers I’ve seen in goals for Celtic.

At the time releasing Gordon was the right move as he was not prepared to accept the contract we were offering.

Also, as Kev pointed out, loads of fans didn't rate Gordon and were often criticising him.

Forster was our number one choice in the summer but unfortunately we didn't manage to get the deal over the line. So we had to go resort to plan B.

At the time I was disappointed that we didn't get Forster but thought Barkas was a good signing.

For one reason or another it has not worked out so far. So I think we are been harsh criticising those in charge of the transfers on this occasion.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 13:22:58
I wasn't a Gordon fan as although he was a great shot-stopper, he was very eratic and rash and his distribution was pants.
However, we have three on the books at the moment who seem to be nowhere near what is required and that must be a priority this summer.

You would think if the club signs foreign players they should be able to speak English.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not 100% convinced that Barkas can't speak English - maybe 90/95% lol. He was born in Holland to Greek parents but I can't find anything about when he left there for Greece though it does look like he played all his youth football in Greece. In fact just as I was typing that and looking about I found this:

07 Feb 2021 13:58:20
If Barkas went to school in Holland, he will know English. Most Dutch schools are bilingual over there.

Aussie Ray by your analogy club should not have signed Stilton Petrov or Nakamura then? Aye another belter from you.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's what I mean, Phil, he could have left Holland as a baby and just because he was born there he obviously has never identified himself as Dutch. I have a wee mate from back in the day and he was born in Singapore because his dad was in the army but that's it. His passport has that as his place of birth but he's as Singaporean as Isa from Still Game.}

07 Feb 2021 13:59:11
Why are fans still going on about Forster not being signed he didn’t want to stay he wanted to fight for his place at Southampton, let it go.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 14:12:21
Ed007 good chance that is case with Barkas. Its a shame though he is struggling to settle, I've watched videos on YouTube of him playing for AEK Athens and he looks the part.

Lol the bold Isa, every town has one of them lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍 Stevie Woods scouted Barkas for 18 months and both him and Hammond were very vocal about signing him. I trust Woods' judgement with regards to Barkas ability but as you say he seems to be struggling to settle.
Maybe his situation is like Elhamed, outside of training he has nobody around him and because of CV he's not mixing with the squad and building that camaraderie. I mean you'd have thought Bitton would have reached out to Elhamed to help him settle and feel welcome.}

07 Feb 2021 16:51:57
Ed007 I agree, cv surely can't be helping him settle. When he signed he most likely thought that the whole cv fiasco would be over and he could get back to Greece to visit family etc.

I hope club stick with him for another season to assist him settling in and work on his confidence. In summer might be an idea for club to bring in another GK on loan for a season until Barkas is either upto speed or transferred if still can't settle.

Unfortunately due the economic impact of the current health crisis we are going to take a massive hit on the sale of our prize assets.

It's easy to say with 20/ 20 hindsight but we paid the price for keeping the want aways in the summer on the field of play and we'll pay the price again financially when we they go in the sale. While it will also mean we'll be able to buy cheaper to rebuild sales will be a massively bigger sum than purchases so the result will be a considerable nett loss.

Our performances and the fact that none of our prize assets are playing to the same standards also makes them worth less. Buying clubs also know they need to be sold.

Just about sums up this season right up to losing out on the centre half we badly needed after being gazumped by Liverpool for a player who wasn't even on their radar before Celtic were interested and one of the few buys to go through in one of the quietest transfer windows in Engerland in years. The majority of our wounds are self inflicted no doubt but circumstances have done us no favours either in a season that was just in so many ways the perfect storm.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Feb 2021 10:37:44
It has been an almost uncannot sequence of events; all the way back to Bolingoli and beyond, although we have been nowhere near the levels this squad can produce. The injury to JF was very damaging.
and guys like Eddy, Christie, Jullien and Ntcham have hardly had four decent games between them; while Ajer was also identified as wanting away, had some better games, he has still been part of our worst defense for many years.
That brings me to one of our biggest failings:- Between the sticks, where we have been extremely weak and the swapping about of goalkeepers almost game by game didn't help either.
The SPFL and Scottish Government have also been very keen to get involved, while other clubs appeared to be remarkably untouchable?
We can cry 'CV Conspiracy', but there will be no takers.
Both transfer windows, on reflection have been disappointing, but then again, coming into an almost toxic dressing room and bad attitudes all around is an unhealthy environment to come into?
There may be other incidents that have contributed, but finger pointing will not change the league table or European affronts.
The main thing Celtic supporters want is that the club learns from this mountain of mistakes with a statement of intent and positive action to regain what was thrown away.
Most of us could cope with a nine out ten every decade; Right?

Surely the boy Cole fae Motherwell has to be cited by the compliance officer? How that wasn't a red yesterday is beyond me, and more importantly what did the ref and linesman see? The linesman especially was right on the incident. Deliberate or not that kick / challenge whatever you'd call it was out of control. Be interesting to see if this compliance officer drags his ass up in front of a panel. Not slow these days in citing our players.

The referees need to start doing there jobs on the park it's as simple as that they are paid very well and they are shocking, if they do there jobs correctly it wouldn't have to go to the compliance officer.

07 Feb 2021 15:07:52
I actually think Walsh is one of the better refs so I don't get how he didn't send him off. Hardly a genuine attempt for the ball, it was high and studs to the chest and intent. Kicks out because he got dispossessed. 100% he will get away with it. Smith's elbow on Welsh was the exact same as what Brown got sent off for too.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 08:11:30
First task for the new manager, ( assuming that's a given) is a goalie. We have 3 and none seem good enough. Motherwell goal took a deflection but went in right in the centre of the goals and should have been saved. I have no faith Barkas will come good either. Rebuild needs to start from the back as the mob are showing you don't need to be great to win.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Said the same to my mate yesterday. It’s hard to believe we forked out £5 million on barkas and come this summer one of the first signings must be made is another GK. when u actually think of it though we’re going to need the single biggest amount of signings I’ve seen ya make in many a yet. Edouard, ajer, christie, rogic, jullien to name but a few will probably all go with everyone of them needing replaced, and that doesn’t include elyounoussi, laxalt, Duffy and Kenny who’ll all go back to their parent clubs, then there’s players there simply not good enough, not to mention frimpong, ntcham and elhamed who’ve already gone this window. Major work needs to be happening at Celtic right now to get things in place for the summer if we’re to have a chance of competing next season. We’re virtually going to have a new squad to try gel together with the exception of a few who’ll still be there.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Feb 2021 15:26:42
We'll need a quality ST to replace Eddy, 3 CBs if Ajer and Jullien leave along with Duffy, 2 RBs, a LB, a RW, a LW or 2 as most don't rate Johnston and Moi will be gone. They're key areas we'd be short on before looking at cover if Christie, Ntcham, Rogic go and Brown retires.
