It's getting tobthat time of year again will be see if we can rid ourselves of some of the non usable players the ones who just drain the resources and contribute little and if so what additions and more interestingly what areas Ronnie will try to strengthen? I honestly can't see us adding anybody we just don't need to as the money men will say we have enough domestically? On another point looking to get a droid box maybe the t8 but also like the look of the Amazon stick with inbuilt kodi what's the better option.

Get an Amazon fire tv box not stick 4K ready £65 at the mo.

07 Dec 2015 21:50:50
But does that give you football streams does it have in built kodi.

If you want the Amazon Fire stick just order from eBay and get jailbreak with kodi preload. Check reviews and details of the seller.

Get the box yourself kodi is easy to install yes with correct build u can get everything. There is a specific build for fire tv called blackbox it has everything u will ever need. If ed allows I can post instructions.

{Ed007's Note - Sure mate, if you send in an e-mail address and anyone that wants to help sends in theirs I'll make sure you get in touch. If I can get one, set it up and have it running for the last 4/5 months anyone can.}

08 Dec 2015 23:56:53
Cheers Ed

Assume the viewing quality is as good?
Also do u need to constantly go searching for specific channels or always in same place/station no.?

Ignorant I know!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've taken a note of your e-mail so come on lads, there must be someone out there that can help out? The quality is as good as TV but my T8 is hardwired to the router which is meant to help with buffering or so I was told. I've been messing about with mine but the basics is, put it on, it updates itself if needs be and then I choose one add-on that takes me to a FULL TV guide including all your Sly channels, another add-on takes me to movies and TV shows box sets etc, another takes me to sports and the final one takes me to a classic TV/films, documentaries etc etc.}

09 Dec 2015 00:36:11
You don't actually need one of these boxes to run Kodi, you can download it and run it through your PC.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And then you need to tie up your PC and connect it your TV, it kind of defeats the purpose of it for me. Why buy a laptop to run it when you can buy a box for much cheaper?}

09 Dec 2015 00:49:09
Was just suggesting an alternative. My PC sits next to my tv so all I needed was a graphics card with an HDMI output, which was cheaper than one of the boxes. I would also suggest downloading The Beast build.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 01:10:47
In addition the graphics card supports dual monitors so I can run kodi on the TV and still use the PC as normal through the monitor or even have two games streaming, one on the TV and one on the monitor.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's far too complicated for me lol I'm trying to talk the Mrs into letting me have another TV in the living room, playing the PS4 is having a seriously detrimental effect on the amount of time I'm putting in to watching TV.}

09 Dec 2015 01:53:42
Got my PS4 hooked up to the tv too! It's all about management it's not that hard to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think I've got enough sockets for all of that!}

09 Dec 2015 10:00:52
Cheers for the feedback folks I've went for the t8 box it sounded easier to use as it's for my parents Christmas to save them monthly charges to sly sports and movies they aren't the greatest with technology but dhoukd manage with the t8 hopefully? Mon the hoops 🍀.

I bought a Raspberry PI and installed Kodi, it's pretty easy to set up and configure.

Hi Ed what add ons do you currently have? I've just reset my box because xbmc crashed so back to basic setup with a few add ons like Dexter and Zeus which seem to work well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I use Operation Robocop for football and sports, UK Turk is a great add on as well for older/classic films & TV shows, I'm going to check out Wookie as well, I had a free membership but never bothered with it but now it's free for everyone I'm going to give it a try.}

09 Dec 2015 13:34:01
I'd would be careful what box you go for. The first one I picked up was around £85 and found after a simple t8 android box search and seemed to have all the spec requirements. None of the preloaded material worked and much of it was in chinese so beware. My advice would be to bash in top 10 android boxes and take it from there. A good all in one box load is wookie and it has a preloaded tv guide and plenty of working addons and every sports one I've heard mentioned here that are updated regularly. For those that are unsure of kodi or worried about their connection speed as a previous poster said download kodi on your pc, open google and search for the wookie addon and you will find a walk through for you. Unlike a pc some boxes don't like wookie because it is produced by a competitor (entertainment boxes will have it as standard) . Another tip as a remote to choose with it. I would go with the one that looks like a game console controller. I have an air remote and it is a pain in the @rse my missus hates it. Remember most of the better boxes have USB ports so you can plug a mouse/keyboard right in and navigate that way wich can be handy when you are loading your own addons or using the box to send emails or go online.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I bought mine from here: www.entertainmentbox.com and have had no problems with it and their after sales support is top notch if you do have any problems.}

09 Dec 2015 13:51:50
Ed and Henrik. Wookie will wipe all the manual addons you have installed but everything mentioned on here is automatically reloaded anyway. I can't belive I didn't load wookie sooner it would of saved me hours!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Ah right, but it's worth downloading?}

09 Dec 2015 14:18:10
Its excellent. If you are a bit unsure load kodi on your pc and install wookie to try it out before you reset your box. My Internet is down and I have a droidbox so I haven't loaded it yet. I put it on my note 4 phone last night and couldn't belive the amount of content.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

09 Dec 2015 14:22:12
There are still a few things I will have to put on manually that I want. If you have an entertainment box already then it should just be like an update for you with a different skin. As a hassle free set up for someone that is new to the boxes it is great.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sounds good. I know they used to charge people but I got a free Wookie account because I bought my T8 from that particular shop/site but I thought to myself, 'I bought this to cut down on what I pay for TV so why do I need an add-on that charges other folk, why support something that's charging people?'. But now it's free to everyone it sounds the dog's danglies.}

09 Dec 2015 15:13:54
Only thing I'll say about the tv guide is the renegade one doesn't work on my phone but the ftv one does. When scrolling down it stops and won't load to the sky channels bit but you can still load them perfectly from the various other addons. Might be my phone and there will be ways round it I'm sure. Tbh seeing this set up now I would of gladly paid that bit extra for it considering all the time I spent doing it manually. I still might even go for the wookie pro version after I have a chance to look into it further.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The TV guide was a bit of a pain in the ar5e time wise to set up but it's worth persevering with it.}

09 Dec 2015 17:43:13
************* is my email addy ed I know my way round the kodi and iptv scene pretty well feel free to pass email on and I'll help any of the bhoys.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Good man, and thanks. I'll pass that on to Stevo and if anyone else wants it just let me know. You might fancy giving us some input on our Android site http://android-review.co.uk/ as well mate. Up until now it's been mostly Ed001 talking to himself and me and Ed023 bumbling about lol.}

07 Dec 2015 15:54:03
Evening Ed, Early bells I know mate but RD is talking about buying experience, strength and a BIG JAN window for us

What are you hearing (if anything) / expecting in the window underneath you were talking about Bosman's we used to get 1 in now for new season we need a ball playing CH IMO a real great winger would be great and more punch up front mate

They're were talk about a striker getting "re-visited" in Jam (not that tripe one radio snyde invented! )

Any ideas / info? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Sorry mate but I've not heard anything at all.}

07 Dec 2015 19:15:07
Thanks Ed, As a said early bells just hope we get a bit of quality/experience through the door nice and early would be great too but known PL and how it goes in general clubs will leave it late :- (

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - (This is from Ed002) Lennart Thy: The suggestion that St Gallen, Celtic and Brugge were watching Lennart Thy recently are true in part, but I understand that Brugge were simply checking on Waldemar Sobota who is on loan in Hamburg with St Pauli. St Gallen makes sense as Josef Zinnbauer tried to sign him last January when he was (for a brief moment in time) in charge of Hamburg.}

07 Dec 2015 20:10:26
The choice and availability of good players is very rare in January as well as the limited appeal of the SPL - and Scottish winter ha ha - with no European football to boot.
It would be great business if we could offload two or three of the surplus and even sign one quality addition?
We seem well equipped in midfield, but could strengthen the defence or add some pace and power up front?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 14:03:14
I would be happy if we can land one good footballer that will stay with us for 3 or 4 yrs . My thinking is that between those youngsters we have loaned out and those still at the club, we should get some back ( if we can) and spend the 2nd half of the season giving plenty of youngsters run outs .
We won't know without giving them a few games how good or how not so good these players are . I Reckon Tierney has proved to be a bit better than Deila and his. Managers expected .
Getting a decent run out with the first team relatively early could help to get them to live the proper lifestyle of a professional player rather than go down the way of their predecessors.

Our transfer policy and player selection has been a long debated point on the site, so hopefully someone can put me right. Do PL and JP have full control over who comes in or oes RD and the coaching staff draw up a list of 'potentials' that JP looks at and adds to and then PL comes in when it comes to the negotiate the transfer and wages? It seems crazy if RD and the coaching staff are simply told who is coming and they then have to play, or in recent times, not play them.

I know that a lot of you don't like loan deals but to me it seems better to get a loan and ship them back when they don't make the squad rather than being on the wage role for 4 years - not saying it's the best, just the least worst scenario.

I like most fans would like to see some of the reader moved on but appreciate that there won't be a queue of teams looking to take on our first team squad never mind those that can't make the bench. I would like to see us actively move them on and offer incentives to the players to cut the squad down. January and no European football means the board will not sanction money so it'll be the usual dross and last minute panick buys- essentially what we've been used to for far too long.

Golden Bhoy What use is a loan player got for us in January. we need players to get us through CL qualifiers not to play in SPL.

Seen Bittons agent Dudu Dahan has said and I quote "Celtic have been approached, but right now is not the right time. "The market price for him is not less than £10m. Some players in the Premier League are not as good as him and have been bought and sold for a lot more money.

"He will go to the Premier League - but in the summer, not in January. "

I'm sure I've read on here before that the agent Dudu Dahan is a decent guy not like your average agent who does not put pressure on his clients to move on to another club for more money unlike guys like for example Wanyamas agent? Well for me this is as touting a player out as you can get. I do wonder though why the likes of Ciftci, Armstrong, GMS, Boyata etc all signings made under Ronny's stewardship in which he sanctioned and wanted haven't been being touted to be sold for potential millions to other clubs down south, with no one banging down our door falling over themselves to sign these duds, I wonder why? Oh yeah that's right, because they're duds no ones interested in and we're stuck with them.

Whilst Ronny keeps on relying on sales of players that came in under Lenny to keep digging him out a hole every time he makes a hash of it in Europe. That's now Forster (£10M) , VVD (£13M) , Watt (£1.2M) and Matthews (£2M) , about the guts of £25M there sold of talent that came in under Lenny, how much profit have we made from any signings that have been made under Ronny? Oh yeah that's right a big fat £0.

Btw see if Southampton take yet another of our players that really is just taken the biscuit, and before anyone starts saying we've done the same to Dun Utd 1. I would rather we signed none of the trio from them and I said so at the time 2. They're duds imo and the three we sold to Southampton are very decent players and 3. We're a much bigger club than either Dun Utd or Southampton just play in a much pisher league than the latter.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed007's Note - Dahan never mentioned anything about him leaving in January or next summer:

http://goo.gl/1QkD8a

It's actually a total non-story when you look at it in context.}

07 Dec 2015 02:57:20
Fair enough Ed read his quotes there from that site and they seem a lot better going by his comments there it seems he has been mis-quoted.

I still stand by the point though that Ronny has become over reliant on selling players that came in under Lenny to dig him out a hole for his failures in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - All agents are slimeballs but from what I know about Dudu Dahan he's a decent operator, I'm not getting into the who brought players in argument again mate it just goes round in circles.}

07 Dec 2015 03:59:43
How does having players sold (not selling) dig a head coach out of a hole? Why are you so arsed about how much profit we make on players? Why can't you get it in your head that JP and PL make the signings?

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 11:44:37
JimTim Ronny was a big part of the reason why we have current duds Ciftci and Boyata at the very least which cost £3M in transfer fees and they're both on four year contracts with us having no chance of shifting either of them for the forseeable future.

Of course it gets him and the club out a hole selling players and making profit to cover the CL money losses two years on the trot now under Ronny.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Pukki, Balde, Bangura, Boerrigter and Efrain Juarez - there's well over £10 million totally wasted in transfer fees without even counting the other costs involved, adding them in you're pushing up towards the £16 - 20 million mark at least.}

07 Dec 2015 13:04:51
You've been set straight that RD's record is better than NL's at this point and now you're desperately trying to compare them with sell on values of players signed under them? Without even considering that neither NL OR RD have control over transfers. You really do come out with some tosh.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 13:48:32
Ed007's list and the others not mentioned show that we have a short sightedness and ignorance regarding quality recruitment and if this has filtered down through the youth scouting we have a big problem.
Obviously every manager makes a poor signing or two in their tenure but hopefully it is compensated for with a few gems or one or two with star potential and re-sale profit.
In the past few years we seem to be bringing in less and less quality or potential and more journeymen and duds.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 13:59:45
I was going to say the same thing Ed, he seems like one of the good guys, and obliging, he has worked on a few deals for us and doesn't seem to make everything drag out looking for more money. Things seem to get done quick/behind closed doors. I only wish we were the same with our other transfers. I've said before that I don't care that much who we sell as long as we replaced them. If we sold him for £12 million and went out and bought a centre half, a striker and a midfielder for £4 million each I'd be happy, but that is far too normal for us!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not expecting or even demanding that any incoming transfer fees should be fully spent on the squad but off of £12 million I'd be hoping for £6/7m to be spent on say 2 players who are proven quality and offering better wages to potential signings including Bosman's, look at Joe Ledley and Mathews, 2 players who left England to come up here because we were paying them good money and when they left we banked £5m from them. That's good business instead of keeping hoping to unearth a gem, sometimes you need to buy proven players to help the team and the youngsters progress. We should also be using money from incoming fees to reinvest in the club's structure, improvements at Lennoxtown etc.}

07 Dec 2015 17:02:36
also biton was rubbish under lennon, i don't see how lennon gets the credit for bitons current form. people will literally grab hold of anything to beat RD with.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 19:45:47
Aye celticforever thought you would say that. Bet you if RD wins treble you will be giving Lennon the credit.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 20:17:17
@CelticForever

Maybe it's better to read the entirety of a story - especially if you are going to come online and try to use it as another stick to beat Ronny Deila with.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 17:24:53
Ed imo Bangura, Pukki and Boeriggter as much as they have turned out a waste of money are still better football players than Ciftci, GMS and Armstrong.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I don't know how you came to that conclusion but they certainly never showed it at CFC and I know our previous manager would disagree with you on that. For a start the cost of all three of them is only £500k less than Pukki OR Boerrigter alone and Bangura cost more than Armstrong and GMS combined - and we gave him a free transfer, Boerrigter will be off in January on a free and Pukki's fee was undisclosed, but there's no way did we even get a third of our outlay back on him.
Once again it shows the abject failure of John Park to identify attacking players, but which group of 3 have been better value for money?}

08 Dec 2015 11:51:29
Hahaha I'm struggling to understand if Celtic forever is being sarcastic or he is just delusional.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Dec 2015 15:19:45
I know knocking the club, p, players, managers, and Board seems game for all seasons but can be a tad biased in our judgements . Over the last five years we have signed a number of players who with the benefit of hind sight we would have been far better keeping far away from . We have also signed some who have done a good job for us . On top of that we have signed some who have done a super job for us, the only down side, is we were not able to keep hold of them and they insisted on moving on but at least we made a good profit . Of course the first group probably has more numbers and our biggest problem is getting them to move on .
I must confess, I am a Celtic supporter and nothing about other clubs, so I don't know in great detail about their buys . I suspect every club buy too many who don't deliver what is expected .
Just one other thing, if a player insists on moving, we have to let him go and I couldn't careless where he finishes up, in fact I am quite happy to see them play away at Southampton knowing that maybe they will get even filthier richer than Celtic they will have less big European nights than if they stayed with us .
