Bahrudin Atajic

I thought it was a great goal last night, he has scored over 40 goals in last 2 seasons - do you feel deafened by silence on his potential- he may be leaving because of limited opportunities?

12 goals scored in last 2 domestic games 0 conceded and NL asked if he is happy re where goals are coming from?

Media prefer to concentrate on Pukki (takes time to settle I'm not quite convinced- but they have an agenda of unsettling our players)and Balde ( number of games quoted but never game time). Am I paranoid?should I have another drink?

So glad to see the wee fella finally get game time + grab a goal. I think if Stokes and Pukkie consistantly struggle the next month then it's Bahrudin time!

Hi guys, first time poster - long time observer. Being Celtic minded and desperate to see the team reach a competitive level at European competition, I read Neil comments regardinf the requirement to bring in a proven goalscorer with interest, . He said we may not beed to break our record but we may need to break our payscales. Our record is £6, illion for Hartson, Lennon and Sutton so I think it would be reasonable to think we could shoot for a striker of the ability of Finnbogasson, Marko Janko or (my preference) Jordan Rhodes. The fans expect, and the fans deserve to be heard and to be respected. Please Mr. Lawell give us our european reputation back. Let the people sing!

Everyone would love to see that mate, if only it was so simple.Players agents will demand more with every big transfer that comes in.These self serving snakes have been killing the game for years all to benefit themselves.

@ barrybhoy, sorry mate I had a bit to drink before I wrote that post. so i'm going to apologise for the name calling. I may have been a bit imature but I felt you insulted me. Yeah I do worry about us spending large amounts of cash but i'm sure you understand why. To be fair though you don't have to spend a lot to get a good player. One thing you got wrong though is me brown nosing the board, I have been p!ssed off with them since we failed to get fletcher.

I read that finbogy didn't want to join celtic on news now in an article about his comment. So finding a link for the page that was in the summer isn't really feasible.

Im not convinced we need him, the strikers we have haven't really had a chance yet, excluding pukki and stokes. between here and january we need to give some of these guys 90 mins so we can have a look at them in a competitve match. if they aren't ready then yeah buy someone, do we need a 6 million pound player though? I feel the answer is no. Tomlin is a good player who will score goals here. Wont cost 6 million either. We have world class youth facilitys and sh!t so why not look there first? Ajax never buy a player and look at them.

must be some action taken against that ref and linesman regarding the 2 penalties and pukki booking unfare you can't challenge a yellow card the handball was worse that the penalty we got at tyncastle last week

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was it deliberate? Should we not be seeing more indirect free kicks in those situations?

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 that's a good point, when was the last time you seen an indirect free kick in the box? I can't remember. If the hand balls not deliberate give an indirect free kick. I used to love those turning into a mad stramash as 11 players charged off the goal line as soon as the ball was touched, then the ball fired straight at them from point blank range and all attackers claiming hand ball. mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, can you explain what the UEFA's rule on handballs is? My understanding was if your hands are outwith the diaphragm of your body (ie hand out to the side or above your head) then it's deemed a deliberate handball?

HamiltonBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Basically it is down to the referee's interpretation of the incident. In Fifa's Laws of the Game, Law 12 says a free-kick or penalty will be awarded if a player "handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)".

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into consideration:

• the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
• the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
• the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an
infringement
• touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement
• hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement

Based on they considerations it's tough to call then based on how close the Well player was to Broony when he crossed it in. My opinion would be his hand was away from his body so it should be a penalty though. Got to lol at the bottom two, I wonder how many times someone's threw their boot to try and deflect a shot from going in!

that will be my last away match with 10 year old son who was caught up in the smoke bomb at the start of the match we had to leave early due to this having an effect.

I tried to speak to a couple of these fans and explain the risks but was given abuse and told where to go.

Time for the club to refuse tickets for away games then it will be up to the home team to be responsible for safety and police.

I have wrote to pl today to explain my concerns and suggestions and also informed that next action will be no home matches

Know what your saying mate took my 12 year old and it was his first away game and unfortunatly think itll be his last for a good while as his mother saw it on the tv and let's just say wasnt best pleased as you said these people don't give a toss to what damge they cause with the smoke bombs breaking seats and as you say the abuse you got especially with having your boy its disgusting and just downright disrespectful what chance do we have for our youngsters with these clowns I wouldn't go as far as refusing away tickets but maybe a look into the way they're getting allocated so the club know exactly who is getting them and if that person decided to sell then its on his own head if something happens

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't tell me in these days of mega surveillance we can't pinpoint a few clowns in a crowd via CCTV or won't for it - via the stewards or the police doing their jobs. Identify them, and grab them when leaving or better still in the middle of the match as an example. Announce via the pa why they are being removed. Makes me mad families are being out of by these clowns. We all slag off the orcs but we have our own that are just as bad. HH joe

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It happened right at the front of the stand so stewards or police could easily have moved in. So you have went from blaming the GB to expecting technology and other people to identifying them. Why should they when CFC have a full list of GB members and their personal details. According to you they will know exactly who's door to chap no matter the evidence.
Just go down the list arresting GB members until you get the right ones. What about the seats in other areas that have GB stickers on them and aren't broke? Who gets the blame for that?
Why bring The Rangers/Sevco/Newclub fans into this? It has nothing to do with them but you generalise over them yet put all our problems at the feet of the GB.
Both sides have idiots in their ranks, you don't need to be affiliated to any group to be an idiot.}

Ed 007 - you really go over the top at times. Where did I mention the GB? HH joe

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You are comparing our supporters to another's clubs fans that have nothing to do with the situation, are you comparing a few broken seats at Fir Park to what happened in Manchester?
Now that's over the top!
The GB were being blamed all day for what went on at Motherwell on Friday night, that's why I mentioned them, why did you bring The Rangers/Sevco/Newclub fans into it? I never mentioned them, they are as relevant to this discussion as they are to our league, football wise or financially.}

I brought the bears fans into it as I don't mind a bit of self deprecation or critism. We are always the first to point the finger at them and adopt the high ground, I don't think it hurts for us all to realise we have our halfwits as well. As for the GB, they're not bigger than the club, or the families that goto parkhead - the elememt that behave like this are a disgrace. Plain and simple. I can't believe your deflecting or making excuses. HH. Joe

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You're bringing other club's fans into it and accusing me of deflecting, aye, good yin. That make loads of sense, what colour's the sky in your world?}

You can't see it for smog. Fair dues you could just delete the
Posts. You sit on your fence. I'll sit on mine. Joe

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not sitting on any fence Joe and there's no reason why I should delete your posts. You're putting your point across and in a civil way. I've no problem with that.}

Another fantastic display last night.I had forgotten how good it is to fillet Murderwell in their own midden.We were slick and full of invention, things we have been missing for a long time. I thought Stokes was excellent, as he was on Sunday.and Pukki showed he has got something, some lovely link play and a good hard working shift, culminating in a booking for diving when a leaden footed defender stood on his foot!

Ledley seems to have really regained his fitness and is driving us forward at every opportunity. Broony is chasing and harassing other midfield's into submission and Mulgrew seems to be revelling in this free role he has. With Lustig and Izzy, who now looks like the player he was, bombing forward teams are struggling to deal with our movement.Even the introduction of the subs never altered our domination or level of play.

ED007: A few months ago we had some great posts about coaching, during a sticky period for us when we just seemed to be going through the motions. You mentioned a coaching style from the French Academy system I think, that uses no fixed positions.The theory being that all players should just play wherever they find themselves. Do you think that Lenny has started developing this style? If so he must be really ahead of the game as the last two games have been wonderful to watch. So many times
over the last two matches it has has been very noticeable that players seem to be popping up everywhere.The time on the ball we have now is vastly different and all the players seem to be loving it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Here it is GJ:

{Ed007's Note - The French are trying to revolutionise football. There was a discussion a while back (between top football tacticians) where it was decided that the only time formations could be considered fixed was at kick off. There is a guy currently at Clairefontaine who for maybe 20 years has been studying if and how different formations are applied.
He advocates and teaches that certain sides (he cites Barcelona, Chelsea, Ajax and Kashima Antlers) that have achieved varying levels of success have actually now reverted to something between no formation at all and the Metodo approach and that strict formations should be a thing of the past.
He wants to see intelligent players that can adapt as the game changes and this is what is being taught to the French kids who are seen as the future of the game in France.}

Over the last couple of matches our players movement off the ball has vastly improved. Maybe NL has seen what European teams are doing and implementing some of it. I have said before that CFC should be using the SPFL to improve the quality of our playing style so that when it comes to the CL the players don't need to change their natural playing style, if you pass the ball to a team mate and keep possession the other team can't score.
The fans need to show more patience as well, if the ball is just being played short passes amongst our own players let the players get on with it, for too many years the fans have willed the team to attack at every opportunity but football has changed so much since those days.
We need to keep the ball until an out becomes available, start teaching that ethos to our youngsters and have it become THE way the whole club plays
When it comes to Europe it is always us that needs to make major changes to tactics and style whereas other teams just tweak their natural game to suit the particular match. Our whole game plan changes for Europe whereas our opponents don't change much, they will be told things like get men on the posts if Mulgrew is lining up a free-kick, watch Ambrose at corners at set pieces, just small adjustments here and there, we seem to change formation, tactics and entire playing style to counteract the opponents.
Plus we STILL need a player who can spot those out balls in tight situations, we badly need a No.10 (Lubo, Naka) type of player who can spot the spaces that players like Brown can't see in the game. I think buying a player like that is just as important and vitall as buying a goal-scorer }

Thanks for that Ed. Your right regarding the playing style and having to change so much from League to Europe. I think after the hearts win, and the manner in which it was achieved, The fans last night were happy to see us move the ball around and just enjoyed it.The speed we regained possession was also impressive.

On the 'No 10' role, Lubo would have been magnificent with Naka not far away, either had the ability to slip passes inside defenders. With Lustig and Izzy pushing up very high we have lots of options. When you think of the last two games, and the need to replace Hooper, Commons, stokes and Broony have all scored from where you would have expected Hooper to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's a good point, maybe they have realised someone needs to do the job and whoever spots the space goes for it.}

Great points raised. We change our game to 'hit sammy' in Europe. It hasn't worked and opponents have sussed it out. let's just get players in who can play along the deck, develop a playing philosophy, like the one Ajax shagged us with. Like Ed says if we have the ball, we're in control. I felt we lacked confidence on the ball this season in CL. I'd love a naka or a lubo type player. They'd obviously have to be somewhat 'undiscovered' like those two were (yes naka came from serie A but I'm stoll amazed noone snapped him away from us). I'm not underestimating the importance of a penalty box goalscorer though. I still think we need a proven clinical striker.

Simply no excuses. let's weed out these persons who are blackening our fantastic reputation . We are quick to take the moral high ground when Ajax were in town, there is no point ignoring this mindless vandalism.

joeshmo1888

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Joe, what I find strange about some folks 'opinions' is they change with every incident (not your opinion, you are consistent)

That banner at the Milan game is against UEFA rules, organising unauthorised marches through busy streets on a Saturday afternoon (the kettling incident) is not on, CELTIC themselves speaking about repairing seats in section 111 - I could go on!

Maybe if the fans from last night had been standing on the seats whilst waving a Political banner, some would have found that ok?

In this day and age of CCTV and Health and Safety laws etc, Celtic have a huge responsibility and I cannot fathom anyone who did not understand why the Club spoke out the way they did after the Milan game.

Is it really too much for some to comprehend that the vast majority of fans are there just to watch the football and support the team?

I seem on twitter some eejits having a go at the 'PLC', as they like to call it, whilst banging on about how Politics do have a place in football and Celtic themselves have maybe promoted that or made money from it. They actually were using the slogan 'CELTIC F.C. not PLC' - they had no idea. They were dead right about Celtic being a Football Club but wanted politics involved just not the PLC! Go figure

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Mrs E. i'm maybe over reacting but I just don't like where some of the fans are going at the minute.
Yet again, we are talking of the fans(small minority) and not the football. If the Murderwell fans had did that at CP we would be condemning them.
I grew up to hate thugs, bullies and yobs whether they wear maroon, red white and blue or green and white.

joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

The most frustrating aspect of it all is it has given ammunition to the evil eyes. Do these fools not realise this is causing us untold damage to our magnificent reputation? If it is not allowed don't do it.It is really that simple, sadly these persons seem to be portraying themselves as some kind of moral minority amongst us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Last nights incident beggars belief. The flare is thrown on the pitch near our OWN goalkeeper. These persons have no consideration that there are kids at these games. Still seeing comments on FB attempting to justify it "cause it happens at every other ground". Please note people pay good money to WATCH football, not have to put up with a bunch of mindless idiots who are now bringing shame to the club on a weekly basis.

Rant over!

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought it was a great post and an even better reply Mrs E. I posted about it on the gers page. We simply need to start naming and shaming people who tarnish the reputation of our football clubs. i'm not bothered about people on their feet singing but some people get the mob mentality and decide to start damaging another clubs infrastructure and throw objects onto the pitch. People like this are not fans, the are fuds. Fuds please stay at home.

Too many times now, celtics name is being tarnished.we took great pride in getting the uefa award to our fans in the seville year.we take pride in saying we are not the same as the fans from the other side of the city.this destructive element has to be nipped in the bud before it grows arms and legs.our name goes before us we are welcomed everywhere, its what we are about, we can't sit back and watch this happen.we don't want to read about our fans smashing up seats.its not the celtic way.i think a way forward would be to get supporter group rep, a rep from the board, a rep for the gb.it seems there is an us and them mentality, we have to be together, u don't have to look too far to see what happens when seperation sets in

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post, its actually start to be a bit of a worry, these louts have no place in a Celtic end of any stadium we play in. All us law abiding fans must root out these persons before our reputation is lowered even further.

joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Arent we all getting a bit too hot under the collar here. A flare was thrown and a few seats damaged. This fundementalist mantra of all things not santitized and controlled as being the devils work just won't do, the offenders seem to be being treated as mass murderers. Its pretty ironic that the press and fawning masses are in mourning over a man Mandela who himself broke more than a few seats. This Royal prince did blow up and kill men women and children to effect his political aim. So now we have a flare and a few broken seats appalling the Celtic board and a man responsible directly for killing innocents put forward as a hero and saint. Now I am not saying that Mandela does not deserve some respect on some levels but to villify the Celtic fans on one hand and to applaud this man on the other just seems plain crazy to me. Sopotcelt

Agree0 Disagree0

Sopotcelt . What has Mandela got to do with some of our so called fans failing to behave themselves yet again? Let's not read too much into it, there have been a number of incidents of late where the good name of our club has been tarnished because of the actions of a small minority, some justified and some not so. Let me ask you a question, do you take your kids to the football (if you have any)? How would you feel about some eejit letting off flares or smoke bombs next to them?
Forget politics or ridiculous comparisons with things that have nothing whatsoever to fo with football. Is it really too much to go to a game of football and support your club without damaging other clubs stadiums and acting like louts?

Gary

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Gary. I can't believe that some people are attempting to justify the actions of the people last night. Its scary to think these guys would let a flare off next to children.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary. I did not bring Mandela into the discussion. I agree its ridiculous. My point is Mandela was the focal point of the before the game. what's he got to do with football? The comparison however is not ridiculous. On one hand we have a few eejiits and that's all they are eejits causing a bit of bother. No more. On the other all Celtic fans are dragged into applauding a man embroiled in politics and power and guilty of directly causing death by violence. We berate these eejits and applaud the killer. what's ridiculous about drawing that to peoples attention. Mandela has got nothing to do with football or Celtic fans but he was given a standing ovation by Celtic fans with the full backing of SFA league bodies etc. I find that offensive as I actually know the history of the fellow and that of his wicked murdering wife. Of course though I would be peed off with eejits throwing flares and damaging property but my point is we are missing the hypocritical nature of
The reaction to Mandela and the ridiculous castigation of a few eejits. Ie the eejits are being treated like devils and the man of power is being treated like a saint or idol. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

@4 be careful of bearing false witness who on this thread is justifying the poor behaviour of fans? Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Taxi for sopotcelt earplugs for the driver

Agree0 Disagree0

Ho Driver what is it about some Celtic fans that makes them need to be liked? You know all that we are the best fans in the world stuff. We have a reputation to protect and we are better than other fans etc. Quite frankly it makes me sick. We won an award. So what? Richly deserved, but does that mean all Celtic fans must be shackled to ensure that no-one besmirches such a great reputation? Self censorship is the dream of those in charge mate so you better watch out. I honestly think and its just my opinion pal that many Celtic fans nowadays have no real idea about what made this club great and being psuedo policemen and the boards mouthpieces is not my idea of nirvana. Everyone who steps a little out of line is a thug or a ned. what's with all this anti-Celtic feeling against our own fans? Did everyone suddenly become an establishment patsy?Football fans really. I wonder how many modern day fans could have hacked the jungle or Hampden on Cup Final day in the 70's. My opinion is we are all getting too soft and all so easily offended. This narcisitic nonsense is pathetic. In my humble opinion it is time to grow a pair and put things into perspective. You can take yer earplugs oot noo driver. Green Brigade HQ. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There is a large section of society that constantly crave something, anything, to be outraged over. It then becomes a competition to see who can be the most outraged.
And God help you if you have a differing opinion from the masses or an original thought of your own.}

Aye yer right i'm wrong, away an smash up as many seats as ye like, tell the fathers bringing the next generation of fans to the games to f. k off, its your club and you can do what you want with it.we will just sit back an watch you pee our name up the wall, away an grow up if you were there in the 70s how come you want to act like that, is it a mid life crisis, has your long suffering wife just told you its over, whatever the reason keep it away from dragging our clubs name down

Agree0 Disagree0

We are not in the 70's and 80's anymore, those footballing days are gone and i'm sure you will agree has become more of a family day/night out. Is this a bad thing? I don't think it is. I love Celtic, I have loved Celtic since my first game. What I don't love is persons wrecking a stadium. just because they can.
If it was your house/garden that was being vandalized you would go to the police.
Im a fan, have plenty idea what made our club great.but watching these persons really does make me sad.

joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Back in the 70s and 80's we didn't need any help to create an atmosphere at CP, people went to watch football and support the team. I definitely think it's a bad thing that football is now seen as more of a family day/night out than how it has been viewed in the past. That's when we became seen as consumers rather than fans or supporters and embarrassingly needed to start a singing section in the first place.
I've said it before, if everyone in the stadium backed the team like happened in the 60s 70s, 80s and after the takeover in 90s we wouldn't have any need for a singing section or the GB at all.
It is the Celtic fans who are responsible for creating the 'monster' that the GB has become, look at all the fawning on social media about displays, and the atmosphere they create etc then when anything goes wrong the hand-wringers appear to condemn them, and a lot of the time it is the same people who do both.
I'd take standing in The Jungle ankle deep in p!sh and beer in the 80's or 90s over today's family friendly, chips and pizza carnival any day of the week.
Now people are thinking we need standing areas brought back, allowed to sell alcohol at games etc, it won't make one iota of a difference, it's still going to be the same people at the matches.
It's just over 13 years since Roy Keane made his prawn sandwich comment, now Man Utd are opening a singing section at OT, they are threatening fans with ejection for standing, Liverpool cut Utd's allocation for Anfield because their fans wouldn't sit down.
Do club's just want rows and rows of robots, who will sit, cheer a goal and either sit straight back down or make their way to the nearest food selling kiosk?}

TT why are you displaying what can only be described as childish behaviour by calling me names attacking me personally and bringing my age and wife into the discussion. Is it because you are hiding behind your tough keyboard? If we were discussing things man to man would you talk to me this way just because I disagree with your model of reality? Do you generally react by being loutish once having lost the intellectual debate. Is that the way you teach your kids to be respectful? don't assume you are more worthy than me as a CFC fan because you have the best interests of the club at heart in your opinion. You don't like being challenged do you. How do you react when your wife disagrees with you? Do you call her names? You maybe need to go and chat on twitter and leave serious debates to the grown ups. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually pretty much agree with everything you have said Ed. The atmosphere back in the 80's. even when I was in a crowd of under 20 thousand was great.
I guess I have changed a bit, having 2 young kids myself I am in the position where I want to take them and I want to feel safe taking them. The consumer bit is spot on too.we the fans are the last to be consulted on anything.
However. none of this excuses the mindless vandalism last night.It was totally unnecessary.

joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm all for those responsible to be caught and dealt with appropriately Joe, no matter what they have done to bring the wrong kind of spotlight on our club. As you say, it is mindless and it serves no purpose other than give ammunition to be used against us in their jealousy of us being Scotland's most successful current club.
I don't go in for all these games of 'whataboutery' either, comparing what other club's fans do/have done to try and justify some of our own reeks of blinkered loyalty.
That's when it becomes you either condemn or condone, there is no room for discussion or debate, you are either for 'us' or against 'us' by both sides, but you MUST pick a side, there is absolutely no (sensible) middle ground allowed by either side of the argument.
If you back the GB you are a hooligan and if you don't you're tagged as not being a true fan. God knows where I fit in amongst the modern CFC support, and if I am honest I really don't care that much. I'm just me and I am more than capable of forming my own opinions on thing.
The GB do a lot of good with their singing etc but there are rules that they must follow, it's that simple, whether they agree with those rules is immaterial at present, they are still the rules right now. There are just as many things from fans who are against the GB that I disagree with.
I do think it is wrong, very wrong, for the club to provide the police with personal details of supporters, the way the police use the information is questionable, turning up at people's works etc but who's to say it is only fans from Section 111 they do that with, where is the information stored and who has access to the information?
Just wait on the first story about someone on benefits being asked how they afford to pay for a ST at CP......Would you be surprised?}

Sopotcelt read what you have posted today.then read what I have posted.can you tell me where I called you names.can you show me where I lost the debate.now let's look at your posts.your first post talks about mandela.when challenged by gary you reply gary I did not bring mandela into the discussion.i don't do twitter.i don't smash seats, and I would not lose any sleep if chatting man to man .we do it in the pub ask the mrs if ye can go 1 time .is that you that's just lost yerintellectual debate, I thought I was just on a fans chat page sweet dreams spoiltcelt

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I missing something here, throwing missiles, letting flares off, wrecking grounds, is that not wrong?
Nobody would have a problem with green brigade if they went to game, did the singing & signs etc within the rules ( as all of us have too) but when they start with the political stuff and just plain simple hooliganism that pi55 has to be stopped. Most of us have Irish roots, celtic park always had great atmosphere at big games before the gb was even thought of, so let's cut the cr@p that gb are being made scapegoats. Jbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed007's Note - The point is that it is not just the GB from our support that do these things. If you honestly think that then that is a very myopic viewpoint. You admit the atmosphere was great at CP before the GB, so there was no trouble from any CFC fans before the GB in your opinion, what about what happened in Amsterdam, are you blaming the GB for that, or Vigo in 2002 before the GB were even formed?
If a CFC fan farts a stinker in the away end of a ground they would be accused of 'smuggling' stink-bombs in.
In a support our size you will always get a certain percentage of wannabes and juveniles/Under-5s or Baby Crews trying to make a name for themselves, impress and and catch the eye of the older ones.
Not everything done wrong by a CFC supporter is down to the GB.
If you have any evidence regarding last nights ridiculous (and uncalled for) damage and vandalism and you feel so strongly about it I would advise you to contact the club or the authorities with it.}

Ed I never said there was never any trouble before gb, I'm old enough to remember the 70s & 80s, ok no one was hurt last night but right now gb are making themselves look like a bunch of spoilt delinquents, just go to the game, enjoy and move on afterwards, is that too much too ask? Jbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So you have proof that it was members of the GB that were responsible for last nights vandalism? From what I have heard from a couple of people now it was more like a teenage house party/Friday night pi$$-up than something the GB would organise.}

Good morning. So congratulations for beginning to pay attention. Now begin to critically analyse your tone and childishness. You are correct you did not directly call me names but you did strongly imply I was immature, you assumed my wife and I had a poor relationship and you also strongly suggested I am the type of person to ignore others and ride roughshod over the opinions of others. I have no problem with your opinion. I do take offence and this in my opinion taking offense is warranted when you start to bring my family into the debate. Do you think its reasonable to hide that type of insult behind light banter? You also presume you can speak for others in the debate. I am sure Gary or anyone else can speak for themselves. Gary actually again in my opinion made a good point and articulated it well.
Just so we are in no doubt. I agree those who cause criminal damage and alarm and those who cause physical and psychological injury should be dealt with appropriately by the proper authorities. My point and it seems to have grated you is that I made some comment about Mandela. Perhaps he is a hero of yours I don't know. But I will try to clarify. On one hand we see Mandela applauded at the start of the match. Now very few people are actually aware of his politics and history of violence. Our manager applauds the stadium applauds and the football authorities encourage and issue directives on the type of respect to be shown to him. I think we can agree Africa is a complex place politically and SA continues to be a very violent and unfair society. But we decide as Mandela is socially accepted by our political classes that we should pay homage to the man in spite of his record. Contrast that to Irish and British politics. I think we can agree British and Irish politics is complex. It has a violent past. Many in Ireland and further abroad would say at the same point recently in history there were many similarities between the associated struggles of the SA and northern Irish. Of course there are big differences. Replace race for religion and we are beginning to see a closer resemblance. Of course in Ireland nowadays north or south striking working men are not gunned down and killed by the police in their dozens as hapend in SA some months ago.
Now bear with me. A political statement was made at a Celtic match including a general comment about class struggle and equality and a poster of two some would say heroes of the struggle between the dominant or controlling group against the lower or oppressed group. Now I am not sayng this is my own opinion I am stating the situation. So why on one hand is our manager seen proudly and reverendly applauding and on the other hand is embarrassed and his heart sank?
Its clear that it is or appears at least seems to appear that African politics can be brought into football and Irish and UK politics cannot. Seriously do you see a disconnect?
Now as for discussion I was speaking in general terms are you telling me you cannot see that? Mandela was the focal point of the proceedings. We had all been told to pay respect. The crowd and herd then dutifully applauded and
As I say paid homage. Now when a feww eejits later in the evening caused a bit of bother eveyone is baying for blood and wants them rooted out punished lifetime bans etc etc.
Do you see how ridiculous that is? Do you see the contrast? On one hand we are celebrating the life of a violent man who never renounced violence and on the other we are attacking our fellow supporters for the fact they might have caused some minor damage and alarm or even some respiratory problems with younger fans ( all of which is out of order of course).
My more general point now is that we are all being conditioned to accept the right kind of political figure/terrorist/freedom fighter as a society and we are all as a group ready to defend our version of reality or insult people for the greater good if their opinion is different from official doctrine. In your case the royal We when defending your or our club against infiltrators and those not upholding with our reputation. My heavens would you defend my good reputation so readily? Then as a society we are taught to accept the state sponsored political figures and to integrate into sport when it happens to suit the power brokers or and political ruling class of the club and country.
Enjoy your Sunday mate and no worries I don't hold any of the comments you made against me personally to heart. Sopotcelt.

I was in vigo ed are you saying the fans were responsible for trouble .are you talkin about in the airport, where the police came in with battons, and you are right out of order suggesting celtic fans in the dam were the reason for trouble think everyone knows the truth .I think what the general opinion is don't smash up seats it makes our club look bad.for some reason you and spotcelt seem to be continually backing this behaviour, givin us well its that or prawn sandwiches.the gb are smaller than cfc, if we keep wakin up to headlines that blacken the clubs name, the gb time will be up.support and atmosphere wise that would be a miss, but they are turnin into a law of there own,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You should maybe go back and read what I said again. You're obviously only seeing what you want to see and can you point out where I am continually backing such behaviour as was seen on Friday night, please.}

Ed 007 I suggest you look back on what you have written and how you portrayed it I have a feeling you are backtracking now that you see the gb have condemned what happened themselves all I and a few other posters on here were saying was the actions at fir park were pretty much a disgrace and the headline stealing from the team week in week out must be addressed, your replies have been its that or prawn sandwich stuff.your wrong with the right leadership the gb can be our 12th man with continued mis leadership they will bring the clubs name down

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - As I said, I suggest you go back and read what I have actually said. So the GB have condemned it, they never said it was them though, which was my initial point all day. I'm not back-tracking anywhere.}

Spoiltcelt in @2 YOU SLAUGHTER MANDELA IN@5 no gary it wisnae me as for the rest of your journal yawn now away back an read point 2 that was yours yes then go read point 5 that was yours too.can ye see where i'm going with this as for gary being mentioned well he must have responded to you semewhere in between your points simples no journal reply required

Please stop calling me names mate and please stop personalising the debate. You really are showing bullying and aggresive tendencies. What is it about you that makes you think you have the authority to be right about everything on this thread. Mandela needs to be assessed and you just don't seem to have the intelligence to understand that a thread can develop and the discussion can naturally be broadened. I do accept that more than 5 lines can be challenging for you to digest but please make the effort and please also realise that you are at least partially responsible for causing seperation between at least two fans. that's me and you. I think your grand solution on your first post was to ensure no seperation betwen fans and all you have done is attack me personally for being a fan who you think is not as worthy as you are and also attack the Celtic support both specifically and generally. Tell you what mate let's let the readers decide and gracefully agree to disagree. Sopotcelt. I Know you can read so I will sign off again so you know how to spell it. Sopotcelt.

Ed I don't have proof, the same way nobody can prove they're not part of gb, but I think the point is if they wee neds are trying to impress the gb, then that in itself shows what a lot of people think that's the way the gb are or are heading. Jbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Well the GB's statement proves that they weren't directly responsible for it but I am in total agreement with you about groups of wee neds trying to impress them, that will not end well.}

Sopotcelt if bullying or aggresion is simply pointing out what you wrote then I am guilty you obviously feel mandela needs to be discussed as you have just stated may I suggest googling mandela discussion goups then a warcrimes thread and you will get your wish sorry if this offends you bullies you or seems agresive to you but it may help where is sopot anyway am I at 5 lines yet can I finish my post yet

Thanks for the tip mate. Since you are giving out tips I will return the favour why don't you read the Tavistock Institute of public behaviour which you can get on pdf free if you do the search. Also a great book on revolutionaries (since Mandela is on the menu) called Fire in the minds of men by a guy called Billington. Again a free download on pdf. I appreciate the use of my proper sign off name so thanks. Sopotcelt.

Great display again bhoys, 3 common denominators in last 2 games. No Forest, no Samaras and 2 starts for Ledley.

I totally agree about the absence of those two wasters but Commons coming back to full fitness is a major plus.
He is one of the most skill full and comfortable on the ball players we have and without his goals this season we would be in a sorry state.
