Does anyone know if there’s been any more news regarding lee congerton leaving. It’s seems to have gone very quiet, there was talk of park coming back ( does that depend on Lennie getting the gig )
Has congerton actually handed his notice in? This is a big close season for us with all the players out of contract, loans going back, and early qualifying for the champions league. Throw into this, possibly a new manager and surely the club are looking at all this . If we aren’t proactive, we could put ourselves under pressure next season.

What? Celtic making a mess of things in the recruitment market?
Are you for real Quinn1888?
What makes you think we would be so slow and amateurish? lol HH.

Really we have to have all the "I" dotted and "t" crossed by the 7th of April or we will be too late again.

I don't think we should be judging Lennon at all on our performances since he's taken over. He should be judged on his previous time at celtic and what he's done since he left. This is Rodgers team and Rodgers style of football being played. don't know if it would increase or decrease his chances of getting it as he done very well for us last time in Europe but never won a treble and his time at Bolton was very poor but the club was in disarray at the time so can't be all blamed on Lennon. Then there's question marks over his time at Hibs especially towards the end but they were playing some great football at times.

What a load of rubbish judge him before? Who was sad to see him go? This not wanting to change things and leave it as Rodgers left that’s rubbish too if he wants it change it to what he wants then do it leaving it is a cop out never saw him as a yes man but that’s what he’s doing if it’s him next season tell him now and let him get on with it if same old Celtic it’s fkn embarrassing.

Actually; Lustig, Brown, Forrest, Rogic, Griff, Biton and Izzaguire; they were all here under NL's first tenure and although the others are additions since then, he knows Celtic inside out - back to front; so virtually no settling-in required and should be more than capable of getting these guys playing.
I accept the circumstances of his appointment were like a bolt of lightning and he is undefeated in his seven games, but everyone can see we are under-performing and not scoring enough goals.
There is still a title to wrap-up and a huge semi-final next week, so the support need to get behind THE TEAM and hope the Board make the best decision for Celtic, in the long term as anything less than the right man at the right time, will end in tears and anger.

new to site. thinking about next manager there is no real candidate that makes me think yes go get him. if we go for a European manager then it's a risk, as they might not adapt to scottish football. don't fancy moyes (poor record since leaving Everton) , Clarke ( good job at killie but can he change tactics to become attacking manager that celtic are looking for? ) Lennon ( stabilised the club since the person left but performances suggest he's not the answer) or Benitez ( done ok at Newcastle but not sure he fancies it or would be fully committed to our club and may always be looking to leave. ) I think we should maybe go for Chris Houghton from Brighton. he's done a good job with them. he changes there style regularly which suggests he is tactically aware. he maybe have taken Brighton as far as he can and I don't think he will be on an enormous wage. has experience of being at a big club ( spurs, newcastle) would have good contacts and is knowledgeable on British football. what are you thoughts?

I’d like Nuno Espírito Santo from Wolves If we could get him.

I really don't envy the choice Peter lawells / the board has to make in the summer 're manager I don't think there's an outcome that will really please all or the majirity the fans. go with Lennon. playing safe . go with another British manger ie moyes Clark oneill . not thinking big enough . european type ie rose is he . experienced enough can he do it without money, and the latter for someone experienced . say Benitez . a big choice needed to take us to 10 and beyond let's hope the board are on their game and get it right.

Don't think going with Lennon will be safe in anyway but I agree that it's going to be a tough task to get it right.

New poster guys, but have been reading the site for a few months now.
As far as manager is concerned I would say that the board will probably not want to pay compensation for a manager (or not much anyway) . No comp for Rodgers paid, that's why we got him.
That would suggest Lennon or Moyes might be favourites.
Rafa Benitez out of contract in the summer so he would be my choice, but we need to act fast.
Maybe Ed could confirm but I'm sure NL said in an interview not long after he came in that he was to have a meeting with Congerton on player recruitment.
Not sure if that statement is a clue, but thought Congerton was leaving soon as well?

It's clear we struggle to break teams down who park the bus. Instead of always trying to play through the lines I don't understand why we don't stick 2 big guys up top. We got plenty of crosses into the box yesterday but no one attacking them. I think it's time for Bayo to get a run in the team, seems decent in the air from limited footage I've seen of him. It's not always the most attractive style but sometimes its needed and it certainly worked for O'Neill and Strachan.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Then fans could moan that we are just punting balls into the box at two target men.}

07 Apr 2019 13:44:04
I don’t think I’ve seen a Celtic team with less of an aerial threat and Bayo can head a ball. Why him no play? Think the criticism of Lennon is a tad unfair. We’re paying the price of the dearly departeds lack of interest since last summer and two panned in transfer wondows. I’d appoint Neil amd let him try for the 10. He’s a safe pair of hands and we know what we’ve got but don’t know what we’re getting. Appointing a new manager is always a risk and one I don’t think we need to take. I think the tanned fella with the teeths BRexit must have had an impact on the players. If we feel let down think how the players particularly the younger boys must feel.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Apr 2019 13:59:23
We can’t break teams down because we over play it we want to pass it in from 5 yards, what has happened to shooting from outside the box rarely see it anymore when theirs plenty of opportunity too, we play into their hands they sit behind the ball and hit us on the break they no we will over play and pass pass pass pass all day long and any ball into box we won’t score because we have no target man griffiths was lethal in the air and we miss him and bayou is good in the air from what I’ve seen, the tactics are the number 1 problem here, we play 2 cm and 1 am behind striker when one holding mid (brown) is sufficient since they all sit in against us, we should then play two am behind striker mcgregor Christie rogic and Henderson can all do that job well eddy on left and griff or bayo up top I believe this would make a huge difference 🍀.

It's anti football Livingston tactics.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Apr 2019 18:38:47
Totally agree Phil, it’s horrible to watch 11 men sit in their own box against us no space whatsoever, any of the rangers games I’ve watched recently the opposition doesn’t seem to sit in as much against them, they seem to have much more space especially today against Motherwell they handed them the goals on a plate.

Livingston are playing within the limitations of their capabilities and resources. They came to Parkhead set their stall out and did what they had to do. We just we’rent good enough to break them down and when we did we couldn’t take our chances. Fair play to them.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Apr 2019 21:33:06
It's simple. When people park the bus we are required to pass it through them.

We have no threat in the air. Seen against monchengladbach, valencia Zenit and Anderlecht at home

They just centralise their team and allow us a bit more space out wide.

As they know we won't cross and if we do then it's usually harmless.

Likewise with corners and free kicks.

Make no mistake, the appointment of a new manager is the biggest decsion our board will face in a long time.
Tbh I don't see any outstanding candidates pushing there way to the front of the queue.
Will we go for a tried and test spl manager or a British manager or do they cast an eye to Europe.
I think if NL was getting it I really do see the problem in announcing it and letting everyone get on with it.
Who ever gets it has been left with a bit of rebuilding job to do.
It makes no sense why we have let so many player run there contracts down without trying to cash in.
We will still have the guts of a good squad.
When fit I believe we have to give bayo game time instead of Burke or weah.

I’m not a fan of Lennon, the games games since he has been in charge have been pretty dire, although unbeaten I think it’s fair to say it’s not been nice to watch. Yesterdays game was pretty dismal due to the way Livingston played, to be honest I could have managed them. That was anti football at its best Man City, Barca, Real Madrid would have struggled to score, and to hear pundits praising Holt for his tactics beggars belief and to see him cupping his ears at the end wasn’t very professional either. Football is supposed to be an entertainment, that yesterday was torture no wonder fans are staying away from the game these days. oldkilly.

Killy i know what your saying but guys like Christie and rogic are there to open teams up eddy I think should have scored 2 and Burke missed a sitter.

07 Apr 2019 09:26:23
Lenny seems to be getting it in the neck for yesterday, but the hard facts are if eddy finishes 2 stonewall chances and Burke doesn't miss a sitter then they win comfortably, maybe we should be blaming the players ;and av heard his substitutions being criticised but a thought they were very positive there might be an argument he could have thrown on Sinclair but there still no guarantee he would have scored.

BR has been getting it all season as well, our players constantly miss easy chances.

Yesterday we put in cross after cross but for who? No one in our team seems capable of heading a ball. So tactics wise Lenny set us up and it was another miserable performance. He’s obviously not entirely to blame Pedro and BR are just as guilty. Astonishingly our league is so poor that another treble is on and we have been rotten all year.

Celtic really need to have our new manager confirmed the day after the cup final, if we get there and get our transfers done efficiently.

07 Apr 2019 11:40:20
Kev if we play like that mince yesterday there won't be a treble.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Apr 2019 11:40:48
We should not blame Lenny for any of this, he said he would not change anything, just try to keep a decent momentum, the team was playing lethargic long before the former manager left, Lenny has done what he has said, not changed as he doesn't have enough time. I have said before, he brought us the first 3 of the titles in this run, some of our best results in Europe over the past 10 yrs, as well as some not so good. He has signed some great players on which we made great profit and enjoyed their time with us, he signed some rubbish as well, but don't All managers, just look at our previous 2. We have some players who should be long gone and some who need reminding about who they play for. He walked away when he found out that the planned expenture could not progress us in Europ. He has devoted many yrs of his life as a Fan and in a professional capacity to better our club. He will deliver the treble, and for me is a safe secure Celtic Legend to deliver the 10.

07 Apr 2019 09:03:47
Unless you look at the games purely on our results then it has to be clear to everyone that this squad has peaked and is on the wain, following the so called business model was always going to come to this point, when you continually replace your best players with lesser players there is only one direction you can go, what has helped paper over the cracks is that no other club in Scotland where capable of putting in anything resembling a decent challenge over the years this decline was taking place, even though results in Europe were some of the poorest in the clubs history we still went down the same route regardless, I firmly believe Rodgers saw were this policy was heading and his ego wouldn't allow him to stay until the unforgivable happens and we hand the title back to sevco, many fans are shouting for Lenny to go which has to be said is totally unfair this team has been performing poorly for the last year scrapping through games were if your honest we have been dire to watch, come the summer the team needs a complete overhaul just to retain the spl never mind making any impact in Europe, I have no doubt what so ever that that the glib and shameless one will somehow come up with funds for slippy g to improve his squad and the last 2 games against them have shown they are a lot closer to us than they should be in truth with the income attained by both clubs over the last 10 years we should be light years ahead and before the green specs brigade jump in about finance think about this for a moment 3 of the 4 highest paid players in the spl play at jbrokes, do I believe lawwell and the board will step up in the window and bring in a quality GK, RB,2 CBs, and a proper tested centre forward in a word No.

Our peak was the 'Invincible' season and it would be impossible to replicate, so our results, performances and lead at the top have all tapered off, since then as opponents adjusted to nullify us.
The amount of packed defenses we have come up against increasingly frustrate as we became predictable and wasteful in front of goal.
Last summer's transfer window was also very unsettling, selling Dembele at the last minute; damaging moral and potency of attack, so it affected performances for weeks (as did the Boyata fiasco) .
On the subject of transfers, we have stockpiled far too many nearly - men who have either been loaned out, or just hang around picking up wages for hee-haw, while the established, proven players have possibly been over-used and maybe contributing to the horrendous injury problems we have had this season?
I know we have been unfortunate with Griff and I believe Bayo has been out with injury as well, but I can't remember a Celtic team in five decades of support, playing a season without a striker and this has obviously had a lot to do with the reduced goals tally.

There have been too many heavy defeats in Europe as you say, but the club seems to be content with domestic domination and as history shows, complacency and a failure to strengthen from success could come back to haunt us if we don't act immediately.
There will be plenty players leaving for sure and the managers position will have to be addressed, so as to start rebuilding as soon as the window opens and preparation for the CL qualifiers.

Morning lads, just a wee question in general. when was the last time you's watched a Celtic game and we're happy with the all round performance? I'm not talking about results, yes the results are important especially last Sunday's, but I'm talking about a right good 90 minute performance? . this isn't me looking to have s go at Lennon by the way it's just an observation. For me it's been sometime that I've been able to say after a game " that was the complete all round performance and score line". we've one hell of s job on our hands come this summer regardless of who the next manager will be. I just want us to mathematically get this title and semi final wrapped up so then maybe it will become more clearer as to who will be in charge come next season. We've a hellava lot of players that will or should be leaving with for me at least 6/ 7 better quality players needed brought in.
