Moving on from last week BR was good for us at the time And sure at the time I was angry when he left and it was really bad timing but he had his own reasons and I don't think a lot of people will know the true reasons why. I don't hate him for it it's his choice we just have to move on no man is bigger than the club but I don't hate him And truly I wish him and his family well.

I totally agree and think some of the stick he has been getting has been way over the top.

I agree with you Tony, I wish Brendan all the best, think if you want to criticize people, do it to Dembelle, and Boyata, these two stalled, stopped, disrupted, changed, the whole of Celtics season, what is the point of having s contract these days,?, if it infringes your human rights, don't sign thing, in the first place,

I respect your stance but on reflection cannot see Amy reason for his departure except the huge job (a lot his own making) that we face in new season. Self interest is (to an extent) justifiable but I cnnnae go the talk of his legacy I’m hearing. His legacy is yes, improving players already there but his signings! Good grief! Ed might turn out well but who else? In June we need to sign a back four and a striker to stand still! Mountain! Good coach, MAYBE a god manager but more his loss than ours. The grass for him will never be geeener than what he had. I personally also find it funny that he moved before the Hibs game, what was his league record against them.?

I agree Tony, there are always two sides to a story, always cause and effect.

Unless you were present in every meeting, all you can do is guess at what happened.

He won us 7 trophies in a row, I thank him for that.

No one man is bigger than Celtic, we move on.

tonybhoy tonybhoy tonybhoy have you amnesia mate. regardless of the reasons he left he tried to destroy our dream of 10iar and the tt by trying to poach every senior coach we had leaving us with no one for the 2 edinburgh games. for that mate he will always be hated by me. i do not wish his family any ill feeling but i hope he fails miserably at every club he ever coaches at and then mabe one day he will realise what he gave up for his own wee ego and the 30 pieces of silver.

Don't think I'll ever understand him leaving at the time he did, it's unforgivable as far as I'm concerned. Having said that what happened to his family, I wouldn't wish on anyone, horrible situation for a mother and child to be in, they must've been terrified. Hope they're both OK.

The Board must have known the score and prepared as best they could; bringing in (quality) loan signings until a new boss was secured, agreeing long term deals with KT, Ajer, Cal-Mac and Rogic, while securing Broony's services for the transition.
They also must have had NL on 'speed-dial' when the moment came.
I will always be grateful for what BR (and the team) achieved during his tenure, but the manner and timing of his departure was damaging.

07 Mar 2019 09:14:12
Fully agree with u stephbhoy. Hard to understand the timing and how he could leave the way he did. That being said my heart goes out to his family over that shocking incident at there home.

As DownunderBhoy pointed out, we do not know what was going on behind the scenes but speaking from experience I know when I am not happy in a job your judgement can get clouded and you are only too happy to leave when the opportunity arises.

My opinion is that I thank him for what he done for us and wish him well in the future. Yes I was disapointed he left when he did but I shall not judge him for it as I don't know all the facts.

guys i totally respect your views but please don, t forget he tried to hurt the supporters. if he wants to hurt the board that's fine i have a few ex employers i wanted to hurt. no doubt he signed a confidentiality clause so he can't speak out against the board so he tried the next best thing stop the tt and 10 iar knowing how much hurt it would cause and the ramifications against the board.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree totally with downunderbhoy on this as there are two many unknown factors. Facts are undisputable but the problem is when we try to give an interpretation to the facts. If you look at a circle >o the most you can possibly see is 180 degrees but all of us have a tendency to judge as though we could see 360 degrees. It is true that if you have various people looking at the circle from different angles you get a clearer picture but I doubt that we can ever know everything.
We can speculate all we want but that is all it will ever be speculation. whose fault isit, The Board, PL, BR, the players, the sectarianism, us fans, Boyaya, Dembele etc etc, I surprised no one has said it was it was Neil Lennon's fault who with the help of senior players in the club who had been dropped by BR sabotaged Br and negotiated a Coup (you know that's not any more ridiculous than some of the theories I have read.
BR is the PAST and a new permanent manager is the FUTURE. Let's stop worrying about the past and the future in case we balls up the PRESENT The present is Lennon and whether he is here for 3 months or 3 years he has my 100% support (and when the present becomes the past the new guy will have my 100% support)

It is always a risk appointing a new manager and with a Rebel Treble and 10 in a row in the headlights for me it's a risk that Celtic don't need to take. So give Neil Lennon a 3 year contract to see it through. He did the first 3 titles and got us to the last 16 of the Champions League which is more than some people with better suntans achieved.

And here are some of the players signed by Neil Lennon:

Leigh Griffiths
Joe Ledley
Emilio Izaguirre
Fraser Forster
Virgil van Dijk
Anthony Stokes
Charlie Mulgrew
Victor Wanyama
Kris Commons

Just the thoughts of the Airdrie jury.

It happily take Lennon permanently but it depends on how ambitious lawwell and Desmond are this time round. If they have any ambition and want to pursue someone like rose or bielsa then great. But if they go down the lesser road which is more likely imo then we could do a lot worse than lenny.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 22:22:25
We should be aiming as high as we can not settling for someone who can do a job.

Lennon wasn't in total control of signing but it seems people are forgetting just how poor a lot of our signings were at that time.

There were more bad signings than good id say.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 23:53:17
For me it's simple. There's no point bringing in a high profile manager and not backing him properly.

If we go high profile it must be accompanied by a different transfer policy.

If we are going with the cheap options again we are better with a manager who knows how to set up defensively.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 00:43:42
Kev83 unless it's another marquee manager I would rather see Lennon than someone or similar stature.

There was a lot of bad signings back then, but I also remember John Parks inability to identify a striker was a huge problem.

Problem we have got is not only do we need manager appointed, we also need backroom including Congerton replaced to tackle imminent issue of loss of centre defence, right back and loan players returning.

It's a bit of a mess that has to be sorted promptly.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 02:02:10
We shouldn't be settling for anyone, we should aim as high as we possibly can. We've got a lot to offer any manager we go for, trophies, fame and glory if they get us to the 10. I'm behind lenny 100% and I'm grateful he's back but I do want better.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Mar 2019 09:22:38
The only problem with a marquee manager is that they will want a transfer budget to match and l can't see Celtic matching it. Yes celtic do and have spent money but the level some of these top managers look for are much more than Celtic are willing. Remember up to eddy the highest we paid is 6 million ( if l am wrong apologises ) .

Do you think the semi final will be the day or Sunday? Looking to book a holiday and was maybe going to fly out Sunday morning.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Mar 2019 21:06:01
If it's sevco then I think it would be on the Sunday.
I would have thought the policing of it would be easier on that day.
Just a guess though.

The last 3 years we have played sevco in the scottish cup semi final, all games were played on the Sunday.
The Saturday semi final is usually on bbc.
I reckon Celtic will play on Sunday, broadcasted on Premier.

This happens oftener than we think . I don't think we would ever sign any player from EPL if money was the player's goal . We may not be far off the immediate money a player would get in his initial year but player could expect much more money in subsequent years . Craig Gordon would surely been offered more money with Chelsea . Boyota would certainly be on more money if he had stayed in England
Tierney would be on a lot more money if his agent had put him in EPL shop window . Scot Brown would have earned much more money if his agent had done the same Many other Celts could have earned more.

Sammy said in an interview once that if you follow the money, that’s all you’ll remember when it’s all over. He commented on how the memories of playing in big European nights at CP against teams like Barcelona were worth much more to him than money. A true Celtic legend in my eyes.

Some major decisions will need made and soon the loan players go back in June weah Burke benk tohjlan. boyata lustig hayes out of contract . so if it's lenny he'll need told soon so he can start his preparations if not the new guy should be sounded out now and get things moving this could be the biggest and most important window ever as it should stabilise us for next 2 years if done right. us did is needed.

We've got a bit of a rebuilding job to be ready for European qualifiers and, more importantly, going for 9 in a row. I can't wait. At least there will be a fair few signings (or loans. ) but the new manager should be given sufficient funds to get the squad ready.
The only thing that concerns me is the wage bill which needs reduced somewhat. Lennon (if appointed) won't be paid as much as BR was but it would be great if we can get a few more peripheral players moved on. It'll be an exciting time for sure.
Ed will be looking forward to it too I'd imagine.

Mally I would imagine plans are already in place regarding replacements, Lennon or the new manager will have an input but I think agents and players will already have been contacted. Most of these transfers take months if not longer to put in place, so Lawwell and our recruitment team will already be on the case.
We hear talk of our £59m wage bill must be reduced, but this summer is the perfect opportunity as 11 players will either be out of contract or their loans ending. The club can trim the wage bill but still bring in 3/ 4 quality players. Remember also we have the 2 Americans and the Ukrainan winger all coming in and Bayo should be integrated and up to match fitness same with Griffiths coming back.
We will need to replace the 2 centre halfs leaving Boyata and Benkovic, but no major surgery to the squad, given that Rogic, Nitcham will also be ready to play.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 14:35:09
Good points Tim, the cb position is a major prob, my concern is we never seem to get business done early, especially with the qualifierslooming, but take your point major surgery not required just a couple of quality signings and trim the wage bill at same time.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 14:57:11
Yes Mally all eyes will be on Lawwell to finally bring in 2 PERMANENT quality centre halfs.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 15:11:03
The consolation is we had a very large squad even before the loan signings and although there are a couple of positions that need urgent action (including manager? ) ; the vast majority of the team that have been doing so well, will still be here; plus the additions mentioned above.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 16:43:14
I’d love to see us keep Burke and Weah beyond this season in some capacity Toljan and Benkovic can head back to their clubs.

06 Mar 2019 18:07:17
Mallthetally. I hope P Lawwell struggles to get two new centre backs in . The worse thing that could happen is for P L to sign 2 centre backs in June and for you and many others going mad in August that they are not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2019 19:26:45
If there is to be a new manager and as much as I love NL l hope we bring in some one new and he is in place for May with his budget target for new players in place but knowing us if it is to be a new manager we Will get him in August with no time for new players there IS no excuse for time to get it sorted but 3am sure PL will come up with one.

I'm not too fussed about losing benkovic. Is a good player but seems to be Boerighter reincarnated regarding injuries.
