Not since martin o'neil have I been overly happy about a manager choice we've taken but this one I am for the simple reason were thinking outside the box(I hope and not just cheap option)sure I'd I've liked a spaniard, German or wot but all foreign clubs always play good football against. Us and I know scotland have good coaches but there mostly all stuck in dark ages were size matters, we need youth and skill hopefully Ronny bhoy can bring that hail hail

Hopefully John Collins does n`t get the assistant managers job, cause if he does we may lose our captain.
Brownie had an acrimonious fall out with him at Hibs!
Don`t think they get on or like each other!

I'm sure they can put their differences to the side for the great good of the club if it is to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you be sure of that TTTS?

Can't be but how sure are you it isn't?

Wondering how to pronounce our new managers name? Just heard him on TV - It's " DIE -LA " . Gives us the opportunity to update an old anti-gers chant - to the tune of "Those were the Days" - Die, Die, Die, Die - La La .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No doubt he'll get the generic "ooh-ah Ronny Deila" that was used for Gary Hooper.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would hope the Green Brigade are on it right now. Surely the old Tom Jones classic will be adapted? Why, why, why etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gj, alex Harvey version surely

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt mate. I can't remember feeling this optimistic about Celtic. A manager with the correct philosophy n style, a bit of personality - throw in also the possibility of a full north curve safe standing, n the GB getting the section back!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 23:27:49
HB I had similar optimism when Mowbray came in.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ DRB: Of course mate I just thought more peeps would have known the Jones version! Except of course Vambo!

Cheers for that GJ, of course if they do make a song from that, it will wind my wife up no end. She hates when I sing Alex Harvey songs

Hey ed was just wondering of you know of any top players from danny bhoys last club that we might be interested in?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know of anyone from Stromsgodset but I wouldn't mind seeing 23 y.o. CB Stefan Strandberg from Rosenborg coming in.}

07 Jun 2014 12:30:09
In today's s#n! They have a 15 year old wonder kid, already been scouted by bayern and man utd. Their fans seem to think ronny will come back for him . He see's ronny as a father figure! 5 first team appearances 1 goal. Youngest ever player to score in Norwegian league?

Welcome to paradise Ronny! The one thing our great support will give him is a warm welcome. A change of manager is always risky and we need to get sorted out pretty quickly. I fear we will lose a couple of big names if we fail to qualify for Europe and the knock on effect could set us back big time.
Saying that, I think this could be a good appointment for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The big names have already been sold, Lawwell now has control of the dressing room.

I don't know much about our new man in charge but his philosophy sounds about just what we need! Developing young players with potential! What sort of budget do u all think will be available to him?

Really excited about the future of our club can't wait for ronny to get started hail hail

Would just like to add - one of our (official or unoffical?) scouts, Peter Houston, has been linked with the Falkirk job. If we lose him, I can't see Celtic also letting Park change roles at the club. Our scouting network seems to be one of the few things that works at the club, and now we have a manager who'll give players a chance, I don't want to see this fall apart.

I had a moan before he was appointed but he is celtics new manger and I will be right behind him as every fan should good luck ronny hope you go down in history at are great club as a success hail hail

Same here. Underwhelming appointment. But it's a change none the less, which most of us would agree needed to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think this is the right man, unlike the other supposed candidates this man is young and a winner . The others have mostly failed somewhere. If we all get behind Ronnie we could have great success.

Obviously the appointment of Ronny Deila isn't the huge name a lot of us wanted and some expected but I'm delighted we didn't go down the Henrik Larsson route, that was a disaster waiting to happen, the weight of expectation would have been unbearable. I'm willing to give the new man every chance to prove himself and he certainly seems to have a set plan and style of how he wants his teams to play, something we were definitely lacking under Lennon.

Speaking of Lennon, he really hasn't covered himself in glory today and I think he has twigged that the club were already looking to replace him this summer, does he really expect us to believe that someone who was supposedly going to be his assistant is now seen as the best candidate for the manager's job?

So Lennon and his ego seem to think he was that good a manager our new one was only good enough to be his assistant.

What happened to him having input on who was to replace him? Considering he has been in Portugal on holiday since he left Celtic Park two weeks ago I'm not buying that, he should have came out and backed Ronny Deila rather than speak of his disappointment that Keane didn't want the job, he knows a lot of supporters still hang on his every word and I don't think he should be talking Deila down when he hadn't even been announced yet.

Hopefully Deila gets the backing of the board and on-field improvements will unite the support behind the team. We all know how the synergy between the club, the team and the fans can create something special at Celtic.

So welcome to THE greatest football club in the world Mr Deila - I have a feeling that this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As long as he wins the treble gets to the last 8 of CL, plays free flowing attacking football, gives youth a chance makes great signings, all the things the dastardly Lennon didn't do!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 19:08:15
Ha ha Mallybhoy, you're right though, to satisfy some on here that's the least he'll have to do

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the last 8 of the CL is a bit much Mally but it's refreshing to see more and more fans have started admitting to Lennon's many blunders and failures as manager. It's just a pity they couldn't do it while he was here, we might have some more trophies in the cabinet and more money in the bank or invested in the team.

But thankfully there's no longer any need to worry about it, no doubt it's not the last we've heard from Lennon and his ego about Celtic and what they should be doing but he's not our problem any longer, we've finally moved on.

Who knows, we might actually get the club back to where it belongs and fans might get the club and team they so rightly deserve.

Have read what Lennon has said Che and can't really see where he has been disrespectful to anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was bad enough giving it to Lennon when he was our Manager. Lennon is now past tense, we should move on and support Our new Manager.

Welcome to the greatest football club in the world Ronny Deila! Any idea who will be his Asst Manager and First Team Coach, or is there going to be a DOF? He's got roughly 6-7 weeks until our competitive season starts. Hopefully he's fully supported by the board in the transfer market and with regards to retaining those of the playing squad he wishes to keep.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's sounding like John Collins as his no2 HB. But then again how many managers were being touted before the appointment.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm also hoping he gets the best out of players that have not exactly proven themselves yet. Pukki, boeriggter, Balde and even Forrest. Looks like he prefers a 4-3-3 formation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just seen that mate, would be a good appointment tbh. I reckon Collins would make a decent #2 guy. I seen a Godset fan the other night on the GB board talking about Deila, he favours the 4-3-3 but on occasion plays 5-3-2 if need be. Will be interesting to see who gets a chance, who's out the door, who's in, and just in general seeing if Celtic can play successful attacking "sexy" football. PS: Delia looks like the kinda manager you'd find down the Gallowgate wi a pint or three after winning the league or even on Champions League nights! Hope he gets 100% support, no doubt a few will give him stick for not being Irish and/or "Celtic minded" or part of the "Celtic family".

Agree0 Disagree0

I suppose Steve Clarke is a bit ambitious.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clarke is a good shout, if you don't ask you'll never know! As for RD i'm glad they have went for someone like him. As for people shouting for R Keane, one question, why? He's a, how to put it, dud as a manager/head coach, maybe decent as assistant but not as a manager. Anyhoo, onward and upward. I wonder who the 1st Scandinavian player is that we will be linked with?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - How can a manager who took over a team sitting second bottom in the English Championship, turned thing round and won the league that season be seen as a dud, yet Malky MacKay who has a similar record was being championed as a prime candidate for the job?
If you want to see a dud manager look no further than who people want as Deila's assistant.}

I don't care if he makes a footballer out of any of the players who has failed so far. I want him to have a winning team who plays good football

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 11:59:28
Well he's young, he's foreign, he's 'outside the box', he plays attacking football - happy?

Best wishes Ronny and looking forward to the new Season 🍀

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am looking forward to this. We could really Be on to something big .

Agree0 Disagree0

Excited Mrs E. let's hope everyone from the fans to the boardroom to the players gets onside with Ronny!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm always onside HB 😊

I just can't make a judgement on him until there's been a good few games played an we see what players are brought in but exciting times and looking forward to the wee change. Optimistic as always, I think lol

Talk now that Deila is part of the new set up with a DoF to be appointed. Who's been earmarked to take the roll? You guessed it! John Park. I'd personally like to see Jansen, seems to have done a cracking job with some of the lads Feyenoord have brought through and bought.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do you not think Park deserves it?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 12:58:05
Not sure. There's no reason we couldn't bring in someone as well as have Park where he is, although roles may cross. Unless you can tell me which signings are his and which aren't I'll remain uncertain. Don't think he's done badly. All I know is I was told a couple seasons back, very reliably, that he has more influence than coaches desired with regards to transfers. I can't see that having changed and a DoF roll would only cement his influence. Let's just hope any dynamics aren't upset. A DoF and Head Coach relationship takes two guys who can often concede they may not be the one who is 'right' and too often you see these relationships break down. It's a system I've championed though and Deila has worked fine under that system so far so I'm willing for us to give it a go. Basically my point is that just by tagging somebody, a DoF, if it is to be Park, the club essentially aren't changing the way things operate anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the previous times we've had a DOF + Head Coach:

Jock Brown (DOF) brought in Wim Jansen (Head Coach) - they then had a heated argument, we lost the man who stopped 10IAR (doing the double that year) n bought one of the greatest ever Celts, Henrik Larsson, after one season.

Jock Brown (DOF) then brought in Dr Jo Venglos (Head Coach) - we might've not won the league, but I'm not sure many will forget (Johan Mjallby's debut) pumping oldco 5-1 at Parkhead. Thanks to a wee man called Lubo Moravcik n the previously spoke about legend Henrik Larsson. Brown got shot of Dr Jo as well after a season.

I think everyone knew who the problem was at that time n it wasn't Wim or Dr Jo!

Last but not least, Kenny Dalglish (DOF) + John Barnes - we don't need reminded about that partnership, but I can always remember how Kenny stuck the knife in Barnes' back n twisted it. Tried to get himself the job!

Seen a picture on Fb on one of the Celtic pages for the new away top, Does look like its a darkish green tartan with gold through it. Was in sealed packaging so it was hard to see what it looked like properly but people didn't seem to like the look of it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Seen the same pic as you and it does look GARBAGE. Celtic strips need to be modernised, not like something Salmond would wear FFS.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a Hearts supporter, GJ, I don't think MR . Salmond would be wearing a Dk. Green Tartan Celtic-related item . And given recent developments at the Edinburgh-based club, perhaps 'sackcloth and ashes' might be more appropriate, in any case .

The Sno Man

Agree0 Disagree0

The new tartan top is acknowledgement of Scotland's independence .

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't agree about modernising the kits, they done that with the Hoops last summer and I could count in one hand how many times I've worn it - always get it off somebody for my birthday in August!

I'm a bit of a plain Jane when it comes to my Celtic kits. Basic green + white Hoops, basic away kits.

My favourite Celtic away kits of the past 25 yrs were last year's 125th anniversary kit wi the Celtic cross, the original bumblee, the black/green kits from 92-94 + 98-00, the green/black stripes from 2006, the white 01/02 kit and the most adventurous I liked was the 3rd kit from 94/95.

I was hoping for a simple design like the Greece kits. White wi green collar n sleeves or black wi white collar n sleeves. Instead we've got yet another horrible design!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I'm actually being a bit harsh - Firstly we need to see if this is the real kit or not, secondly I'll wait till I've seen it in the flesh before criticizing!

see that john collins has been suggested for the asst managers role not so sure if I would welcome that due to his time at hibs. another name that has been mentioned is willie mcstay now I would take him as asst manager in a heartbeat but whether he would come back is another thing. but would be good to hear who my fellow tims have in mind HH

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was Collins problem at Hibs not to do with pampered players not liking training ALL day and not following fitness guidlines? This has worried me for a while at Celtic, in Euro games we look a yard slower than every other team

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be happy with Collins, thought he did a good job at hibs. Played some decent football. And like gj said I think he was a bit of a task master. I really liked lennon and big johan but the team did look a yard slower at times. Also the fact that any players sent out on loan seemed to be getting pelters for being really unfit.

Agree0 Disagree0

John Collins would be a sensation at Celtic. The reason the players at Hibs were unhappy was because he wanted them training twice a day, working more on technique and pushing them harder every session, they older players didn't like it and went behind his back to the chairman. I can tell you from 1st hand experience that John Collins is a wonderful coach, his attention to detail is second to none, his desire for players to do things the right way ensures players concentrate and he WILL develop the younger players at Celtic by making them technically better.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard fitness was an issue with four players . This was likely to be match fitness. The main reason the players were sent out on loan was a lack of opportunity to play matches at Celtic
