Ed di you think the Board will make any kind of statement regarding Christie? Cheers JW67.

{Ed007's Note - I'd be surprised if they do mate but I do expect Lennon and Kennedy will have their say.}

Thanks 🍀.

Celtic Football Club and Ryan Christie are extremely disappointed at the outcome of the hearing today.

“Given the recent treatment of Celtic players and the lack of sanctions being imposed on those responsible, the fact that a sanction has been imposed on Ryan for the incident in question demonstrates a worrying lack of consistency in the Scottish FA fast track process.

“Naturally, we will be contacting the Scottish FA regarding our concerns. Scottish football deserves a disciplinary process which is fair, consistent and fit for purpose. ”.

{Ed007's Note - That's a good statement to be fair but we'll see how it all pans out.}

Celtic have issued a statement to the sfa.

It's a professional and dignified statement compared to the toys out the pram scattergun p*sh that gets churned out by the mob on a weekly basis.

I'm absolutely delighted for Ronny Deila after he was named the head coach of New York City FC earlier today 👏👏👏

06 Jan 2020 17:08:08
Superb news. Weirdly, he's the least NYC-type character you'll run into, which makes him perfect really.

One of the worlds good guys.

He is that mate hope he does fantastic am sure he was at Man City as a youth coach or had some connection before he came to us.

Great guy and a well respected coach. Hope he does great things there!

Yeah all the best Ronny. Is it not recruitment for City Group that Mark Lawwell does? Good shout.

06 Jan 2020 20:01:03
Could listen to him talk football all day unfortunately just never really worked for him at us would have been a great number 2 to Brenda.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Or Neil Lennon - that would have been some management team imo, Lennon, Deila and Kennedy.}

06 Jan 2020 20:21:33
That's what makes the world what it is, people can have completely different views about things, and I know I was one of the few who couldn't see the emperor's new clothes, but I wish him well, at least he will improve the teams nutritional intake.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2020 20:34:08
What I always wondered was would he have done better if he was backed like Rodgers.
If ronny got the stuff he asked and was able to bomb out the players that were causing problems what would he achieved.
Remember he was cheated out a treble and got us to next stages of Europa league as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Have you read THIS Kev?

06 Jan 2020 21:16:16
That's a cracking read ed.
Just annoys me a bit when fans don't look at the big picture with ronny.
He asked for things like the new pitch and improvements to the training ground and was told no but rodgers got it no bother.
He wanted the likes of mulgrew and commons bombed out because they wouldn't adapt to his methods and he was told no. Rodger bulleted them the minute he walked in.
Look at griffiths under ronny. He saved the griffiths celtic career and got the best out of him.

Hed be a choice for me for running the academy if the job ever became available.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Would KT & McGregor have been giving their chance without Ronny and I doubt Ajer would have signed for us. Some of our players are still complaining about the pitch Rodgers chose and the plans of investing at Barrowfield all stem from Deila. The diet, nutritional & nutritional stuff RD brought in was carried on and even more enforced under Rodgers and is in still ALL in place under Lennon even if not as strict. I've said for 10 years on here and even before RD's tenure that our players don't and never will be expected to be as good as Ronaldo but there's no excuses to not strive to be as fit as him.
RD's a bit like Lawwell, Kev, if he sticks to what he knows there's no complaints, as you say a job behind the scenes or coaching and out of the spotlight would be (have been ideal) but sadly the pressure of being the main man at a Club our size was a step too far.
I still f***ing love the guy and nobody anyone says will change that.
I see ESPN described him today as "the Norwegian Klopp" 👏😂

06 Jan 2020 21:32:40
I always liked ronny, that article is eye opening clearly highly thought off. Just felt the board never quite believed in him enough to seriously back him and bowed to fan pressure. I hope he does well never know he is young enough to succeed and maybe come back if he's successfull.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2020 21:44:38
He was working with hands tied behind his back from the very beginning. Had collins forced on him and players he didn't want getting new contracts.
Problem was always going to be that he wasnt a big enough name and celtic was always going to be his biggest job.
He had no real leverage to stand toe to toe with the board.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He also lost our main CB pairing in VVD & Denayer after one season but appointing Collins was a massive mistake and I said it at the time, he brought nothing to the table apart from being Lawwell's eyes and ears within the squad and on the training pitch. It's telling - but not surprising - that he's never found another job within the game.}

06 Jan 2020 21:55:25
I always thought if you were bringing in a number 2 like that then it should have been jim Duffy.
Old head and knew our game inside out.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I mentioned Duffy at the time and I'm sure (hope lol) a couple of other posters agreed.}

07 Jan 2020 01:54:52
Collins defintely had his flaws and I know he rubbed some of the players up the wrong way but I have heard VVD state that Collins played a big role in his development into a top player.

A good read that ed007 👌
I liked big Ronny a lot, I don't know if it was him or the club that partnered him with JC though?

I saw an interview with him when big Ceaser died and he had stuck a sticker on the press box window of the great man himself lifting the trophy in Lisbon, gave me goosebumps watching it haha
He was one of those guys who come along and just gets it and falls in love with club 🍀💚

I will always wish him the best wherever he goes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronnie was a one trick pony and he always set up the same way. Any decent opposition manager knew exactly how Celtic were going to play and they capitalised on his inexperience. It was always a myth that Celtic were a fit team under Ronnie. Even with himself and Collins being fitness fanatics, I always felt we struggled as a team with fitness under Ronnie.

Ronnie done what was expected of him and delivered a couple of league titles and he had a good relationship with the fans. I do agree he was undermined by the board and should have been given more respect. At that time the board wanted a yes man, who wasn’t going to rock the boat until Sevco came into the picture.
Ronnie is a likeable man and I hope he smashes it in NY.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2020 10:46:50
Aye it's that much of a myth nearly every player spoke about how much fitter they were.
Both the griff and VVD raved about how much fitter they were.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2020 13:22:11
Yes, I think it was a Molde player that said, that his team had never beaten a fitter team twice, he said he was amazed by Celtics fitness levels, .

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2020 15:32:45
It was a myth Kev and I have the facts to prove it.
In the 2 seasons Ronnie was the manager, Celtic failed to win 21 league games.
Only 3 times did Celtic pick up extra points with a goal in the last 10 minutes of those games. VVD scored a winner at Pittordrie in the last minute. Griff scored a late winner at home to Partick Thistle and Rogic scored in the last minute at Rugby Park and that was it. No late equalisers in the last 10 minutes over those 2 seasons would suggest if his team were getting beat, then Ronnie didn’t know how to turn it in our favour. Celtic also conceded a few late goals that cost us points over the same period.

If Celtic were going into 20 odd tight league games and we only managed to pick up points in 3 of those games in the last 10 minutes of those matches, that to me would suggest that it was a myth that Ronnie’s Celtic team were fit because they were not fit enough.

Today will let us know if Pedro really does have Celtic's back.
This trumped up charge against Christie first, (when I saw it on tv it just looked like his whole arm brushed wee el coo's crown jewels (IF he has any lol) to prove Christie meant it will be very hard for SFA.
Also I hope Pedro enquires what offences "Pistol Kent" and "Slasher Morelos" will be facing.
While Pedro is on a roll, he should ask SFA what they intend to do with the Res 12 question and the granting of a euro licence to the old club.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2020 15:18:59
There was nothing in the Rangers players' gestures for me. Christie did no more than Morelos has done to him either and Morelos escaped punishment. Maybe they should just get their feelings for eachother off their chests.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Jan 2020 15:45:15
I agree with you JimTim. The number of grown men with their knickers in a twist about these celebrations is embarrassing. Probably a lot of the same guys who hark on about the good old days as well, when you were allowed to tackle two-footed and knee high. I don't think there's any way they can say Christie meant to hit him where he did, it's total reflexes he's just stuck an arm out to stop him getting past.

Football fanz are turning in to the most offended bunch of pansies out there.
Officer officer he made a gesture!

06 Jan 2020 17:00:36
Too right lads. To me he was saying 'game over' or 'league over'. Naturally some people will have a different interpretation. But who actually took that as a threat that Morelos was going to slash their throats. Laughable.

Christie got a two game ban and not a peep from the people we trust to promote, protect and defend our great club. 'Cowardly Custodians'

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2020 18:42:19
Well Ryan banned for 3 games for nothing av seen harder challenges at the weans football time for Celtic to grow a pair and refuse the punishment although am not sure the rules.

06 Jan 2020 19:29:12
I think that’s an appalling decision, only saving grace that he’ll be injured for the suspended games. Anyhow the precedence is set now, NOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2020 19:44:22
Another saving grace is he won’t be taking penalties LeedsCelt.

Good to see Simunovic, Arazani, Elhamed and Elyounoussi all back training. Along with Shved that's a fair talented bunch to add to the quality of the squad. Couple of quality sigings or loans to push us on and we'll be fine. Here's a question though, does anyone think Arzani and/ or Shved might be about to surprise us and push for a place? I liked the look of Shved when we signed him anyway, and was he not the Ukrainian teams player of the year or something? He's got something to offer, surely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Shved's problems seem to be his attitude & work-rate in training are not impressing the manager or coaches.}

06 Jan 2020 15:19:59
Disappointing to hear that. I was looking forward to him settling in and getting up and running.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - A stiff talking to - the proverbial boot up the backside - would probably help Shved a lot more than the mollycoddling, arm round the shoulder approach that he's been getting so far.}

06 Jan 2020 17:03:51
If that's the case then I agree Ed. Likewise with Mally down the page. It's a step up for him. Roll your sleeves up and make it. I'm sure his wage will be a step up too. Start earning it.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2020 17:28:13
Aw that is sad to hear Ed. I wasn't aware of that. Hopefully he straightens himself out and uses his talent to it's potential, and doesn't go wasting it like so many other young players we could mention.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - When he first came in the feeling was that Shved was just a bit homesick and taking his time to settle in Scotland - the same thing that happened when he joined Sevilla at 18 - but he's 22 coming up on 23 and needs to start acting more professionally in his approach to training.}

06 Jan 2020 20:30:52
Aye I suppose this is a real turning point for him then at this stage of his career. he's not a kid so time to step up or fall flat. I do hope he can find som of the form he was showing in Ukraine though. For our sake and his.
