Watching Milan, there GK is a 16 year old so let's have no excuses in not playing Fasan.

Gordon has IMO has lost it, Bailly seems like a new Zaluska.

Now is the time to play our young stars and see who can make the step up.

Out of Europe, no domestic competition when do you think we will have a better time.

The fans are not happy with what's on show so we currently have nothing to lose.

Hi Kev, A have championed this lads cause mate he is fantastic his only real weakness is his kicking

Buffon's time is nearly up, Sigiru is the wrong side of 30 I thunk this bhoy could be involved in the Italian set up within 5 years!

Agile as a cat, and a magic shot stopper he must get a game this season IMO.

07 Dec 2015 09:14:13
This lad might have potential but it's highly unlikely he'll get any game time this season as he's the number 3 goalkeeper and it stands to reason if your number 1 is dropped/suspended/injured you turn to the number 2 (Bailly) . He more than anyone should be sent out on loan to gain experience as not many teenagers become number 1 at most top flight clubs. Fraser Forster stepped down a competitive league coming to us and massively gained from the experience so if fasan went to a championship club he could gain vital experience also.

So, getting bumped out of the Europa League will make us a better team, according to Delilah.

I wish they would just sack the deluded, irritating, Fud.

I nearly choked on my roll n tottie scone reading that too. His statements are just getting bizarre. So getting knocked out of europes 2nd tier tournament in such an embarressing fashion will fill the team with confidence and we will kick on from here then Ronni eh. jesus wept. Iv never disliked the man, and i don't want him too end up a total laughing stock. He has to accept he is just not cutting it and go with his dignity half intact.

If you read behind the headlines (slanted as usual against Celtic) Ronnie says he will have more time on training pitch with players rather than lots of midweek games, let us hope he can improve team come qualifiers as well as bring in one or two quality players.

Agree4 Disagree2

06 Dec 2015 11:59:47
Where did you read Ronny saying the team will be better being out of Europe? The column I was reading was Ronny saying being out of Europe means more time on the training field and more time to work on things . The headline in the twisted Level5 pr run rag says " Europa League exit can make my team better " not once did Ronny say what the headlines are implying . When our own fans are believing what a biased scabby rag is churning out daily over what our manager is actually saying then maybe it is time for Ronny to walk away.

Agree6 Disagree1

06 Dec 2015 12:24:09
Sort it out. He is saying that when you have European games the midweek is spent sorting out travelling and pretty much just ticking over. Bottom line though, the players need the extra training and they should be in doing double sessions because we are a million miles away. The same mistakes keep happening and Ronny has to be ruthless now because he's the one that will lose his job while the players just carry on picking up their wages. He has to be ruthless in Jan and get rid of a good few and bring in a few real strong characters, a few warriors, they don't have to be old just experienced and mentally strong. The younger players will learn from them also. We need a few that will thrive on the pressure from the qualifiers not buckle. The man in the street knows that you have to get the spine of the team right before anything else and we haven't really had that since we had guys like Mjallby, Valgaeren, Balde, Lennon, Sutton and you know who. Even last year when everyone was raving away about Van Dijk and Denayer - we conceded more goals in Europe than we ever had before. It's alright saying we set a new record in Scotland, and Ronny kept saying the defence last year was great, against good teams is was rotten. I know Izzy, Matthews weren't good defensively either but our defence has needed improved for years. Now we have Lustig, he has went from our best player in my opinion to not having had a good game in over a year. He's always injured or carrying knocks meaning he's not at it. Ronny has to realise that stats don't wash, my young 10 year old cousins know the defence is a disgrace and we have no leaders/communication in the team!

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Dec 2015 12:43:54
So by some folks logic. we should get knocked out both domestic cups. then we can have all the time they want on the training field. It seems to be the methods ON the training field that aren't working in my view. Its a new coach/manager and back up staff we need to train better ideas into the players not the same guff the players don't seem to get from the current staff. And everything that's writtin about celtic isn't anti celtic. To believe that theory is just wrong. The Ronni revellers seem to use this excuse everytime someone writes or says something against him. Lovely man. Wrong manager.

Agree2 Disagree1

06 Dec 2015 13:02:37
The embarrassing campaign and early exit from both European competitions will certainly allow us to focus fully on domestic dominance.
However, we have been poor defensively all season and Gordon and Lustig are way below what's expected of them and Blacket, Ambrose and Mulgrew and Bailey obviously cannot be trusted by RD to do the job in their place, so we need to strengthen in January - which is a terrible window to attract any decent quality, while we offload the dross and unsettled players that are picking up wages for nothing.

Fortunately we have some positives with Tierney, Rogic and Allen showing promise and Bitton and Johansen looking like they want to be here long term.
We need to see a lot more from the Dundee Utd imports and Forrest needs to stay fit and continue to contribute.
Griffiths has done a lot better than I expected and has really improved his all round game but I would like to see us add another good striker to share the load as Cole and Ciftci are not the long term answer in my opinion.

A treble must be RDs objective and without European 'distractions' after Thursday he will have few excuses if we come up short or falter in the title race.

There are too many players in the squad where training won't make the required difference. Blacket and boyata have been trained by coaches working for two of the biggest clubs in the epl, trained against some great players and they are still not up to it. You can drill players on their technical ability and positioning but it's down to the player for their decision making on the park. We just don't or can't recruit the right level of player. That extra bit of intelligence is what you pay for and makes the difference in big games. Our scouts can't identify it and the club won't pay for it.

Bhrydobhoy, I think the Ronny revellers as you call them, are the real ones who are anti Celtic, as they want us to keep watching this rubbish, and don't want us to improve.
They are more concerned in sticking up for Deila than they are about the fortunes of the team they claim to support.

To me the guys just not got it! Reading between the lines or not! The guy spouts one bizarre comment after the next! Progress in Europe will give players far more experience and bring there game on more than any extra training session would! More utterly garbage exuses to mask over the fact that he just isn't up to the job! How Any fan can come on here and defend this man is beyond me! His record speaks for itself! Woeful! We're going for the all time EL record without a win for gods sake! Does that not set alarm bells ringing for some people! I think certain people on here don't want to see what's right in front of them! And come on here to defend this guy just for the sake of it! I can't remember a Celtic manager who gets off so lightly for producing one pathetic European result after the next! Is this man a protected species or something? I really want to know! I want every RD Lover on here to come on again after our next failed attempt at trying to get in the CL! But then again I'm sure they'll have more exuses for why he's a failed! But hey I guess we'll have plenty of extra training session!

How is this season's European campaign an embarrassment? For people of my age getting into the league stage is an achievement in itself Over the last 40 years we have had numerous seasons that glory hunters seem to gloss over . I imagine the fans that joined up around the time of MO'N probably thought it would be glorious campaigns ever since .
Blackett and Boyetta must have special skills if they could get two of the biggest clubs in the world to give them long contracts . Can't blame a club from a lesser league taken in by them .
It's almost impossible for Ronny to get his ideas and methods across on the training ground . Nothing really can be done on medium term development on the day before, day of our day after first team matches . This season until last week we have been playing twice weekly or else the players have been away with some Int squad almost every week . Ronny could hide behind working and developing his players to play a solid 3-5 -2 or something take no chances grind out results .
Maybe he should have played for Celtic . Tommy Burns never had us playing in Europe after Christmas and he was much loved and still is . One trophy in four yrs .
Ronny has had 2 in one yr . It wasn't Rangers who stopped T B always either, he was quite capable of losing to lesser teams but did the fans want him out .

Agreed gerry, the Ronny revellers just want to blame every media outlet and claim them all as anti celtic. The blinkers go on. If they said he was a genius and that they know where he's going with his methods they would want him sacked because the media would obviously be "up to something". I read about celtic and i make my own mind up about which is true and which is not so true. I don't believe all i read, but i believe i know when i'm watching below standard football and don't like it. Banksie, not all u read is untrue. Good journalists and bad ones i'm afraid. Old bhoy How has this European campaign been an embarrsment! Hahahaha! Let me think, was it getting humped off the team 6th in the Norwegian league home and away! or maybe it was the gutless performance in Malmo! And for your information we didn't make it into the EL group stages! We dropped in there when we again for the 3rd time in a year failed to get in the CL! And to come on here and compare the great TB with the manager we have now to me is utterly despicable and gravely disrespectful to a man who served our club with passion and pride! A man who was up against a top class rangers side with the likes of gascoine laudrups and the rest! And all of murrays millions! To me pal your a disgrace to the club I love and shouldn't be allowed on any Celtic site! Half wit!

old bhoy I've got to agree with you mate, I'm just getting my neb in first before folk compare Tommy burns and Ronnie for all the wrong reasons, your point is simply that it's down to players on the pitch, coach them all week and come game time if they don't do what's asked off them, apart from drop everyone ( no chance ) I will always argue that TB should have dropped dicanio on more than one occasion but he ws given free reign on the pitch, his talent was undeniable but the fact is he cost us more games with his desire to try and do everything himself instead of being more a team player (no having a dig at dicanio as he was a favourite of mines, just trying to point out its players on the pitch that it all comes down to.

Oldbhoy, in Tommy Burns time as manager we were up against a Rangers team that had dominated football at that time for the best part of 10 years, we couldn't compete with them financially.
In those days all us Celtic fans wanted was to try and stop Rangers winning 10 titles in a row, it was more important to most supporters than any success in Europe. Although he didn't win the League as manager he laid the foundation for Wim Jansen to come in and complete the job.
This is the whole point about judging managers, you have to look at where we were when they took over, and compare it to when they left.
Tommy Burns, Martin O'Neill, Gordon Strachan, and Neil Lennon, all of them improved Celtic in their time in charge, all of them took over when Rangers were Champions, and all of them apart from Burns succeeded in winning the title back off them.
Ronny Deila took over when we were Champions, we were playing in the Champions League, and there is no Rangers to challenge us, yet he couldn't even keep us at the level we were at when he took over, this has nothing to do with whether or not he played for us, they are just the facts.
In my opinion Ronny was brought in for one reason only, he was cheap, if he was any use, he would be touted for jobs around Europe, but I've not seen him linked with any club of a half decent stature.
Whenever we play a half decent team, Ronny is found wanting, the way it's going it won't be too long before the zombies are finishing ahead of us, that will be the ultimate humiliation.

Beav81. I admired Tommy Burns when he was manager of Celtic, the fact that he only one domestic trophy during all his years and didn't progress in Europe wasn't down solely to Rangers .
However the complete hatred that some people who argue they are Celtic fans against our current manager just doesn't make sense . I know some didn't. like Lennon and discussed with the media him bringing it on himself and others didn't like WGS for trying too hard against Celtic years previously but neither have to suffer the naked hatred Deila has . Deila has a very comparable record to both Lennon and WGS had in their same time as Deila .
The SMSM are using and building on the anti Deila hatred that a small% of Celtic fans have . If these people are Celtic supporters why not support?

Id say its becoming an endless and pointless arguement about whos a better manager. i'm sure there's good arguements on most celtic managers for and against. But its like compareing players from different eras. Impossible to get to a conclusion. And because fans don't agree on the subject doesn't mean that the other fan is less of a "supporter". Its good healthy debate but it should not get to the point were one point of view gets berated for dareing to disagree with the masses. We all want what's best for Celtic. let's not lose focus on that.

Old Bhoy I never know if you're at the wind up just to get replies or you really don't see the same problems as the majority of Celtic supporters and the alarming decline?
For people my age - who went to their first game around 1962 - we have seen countless great, good, bad and ugly players and a huge variety of managers and coaches - all trying to emulate the success and example set by the best.

I saw us losing to Ujpest under Big jock and many other defeats in Europe through the 70's, 80's and 90's including Anglo Scottish or Texaco cup ties and that was before the format changed to group stage participation and guarantee Celtic 6 games come what may.
The reason I stated that this was an embarrassment is because we have not yet won a single match - in the secondary competition of Europe with 2 home defeats.
NL had a very poor CL group in his last season and it contributed to his term coming to an end, however RD may claim to have taken positives from his attempts, but the performances and results have been consistently poor over a concentrated period of stewardship and failure.

Jungle Jim 2 . I see you have about 3 yrs up on me, so we are both of roughly the same age . As u know we have had various levels of success in Europe over the last 50 yrs including not qualifying for either competition at all. Now I might think that is embarrassing.
However the current hatred of Deila is at a greater level than the managers who didn't qualify or the dislike that existed for both Lennon and WGS .
I am surprise Jim that a man of your great experience wouldn't have a bit more tolerance .

You go on about the press and media having it in for Celtic, well who's giving them their ammunition?, yes it's Ronny, because he's responsible for one humiliation after another, I bet they can't believe their luck.
If Celtic were ever to get in a decent manager, apart from yourself and one or two others, the people who would be most disappointed would be the Scottish press, and the zombies from the other side of the City.

I am not a hater of Deila and would never want any Celtic manager to fail - as that is crazy and counter productive.
It doesn't matter who the manager is and I have always given the manager and team credit and encouragement.
likewise, with concerns or doubts, I give an opinion.

Most of my negative comments have been about the direction the club has taken since the death of rangers in 2012 and the complacency shown by the board.
We have a history of never strengthening when we were on top (as far back as I can remember) and we have never had such an advantage - of having no serious rival - to forge ahead in all aspects of unhindered supremacy; but in the last three years + we have not dominated full domestically or progressed in Europe considering the advantages we have in facilities and resources and we have been extremely incompetent in transfer business.

Not a dig at RD or NL - just an observation of a worrying trend and some very poor decisions within the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 13:10:09
Good post Jungle Jim, I agree with everything you say.
Where I have major doubts about Ronny, is that I think the club needs to be run differently, this set up where John Park and Peter Lawwell pick the players and give them to Ronny to coach, just isn't working. Unfortunately Ronny is Lawwell's man, Lawwell appointed him, so Ronny has to toe the line. I think we badly need a manager/coach who will speak out and stand up for himself, the team, and the fans, but from what I see, Ronny only cares about himself and keeping his own position safe. At least Lennon had the guts to walk away and not be part of it. Players aren't stupid, they know when there is a weak person in charge, in my opinion that's why a lot of the players seem to have lost respect for him.
I think Ronny only cares for himself, he doesn't look to me as if he has any passion for the club and it's fans, as long as he keeps Peter Lawwell sweet and he holds on to his job, everything else can go to rack and ruin.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - NL didn't walk away from anything - especially his pay off. On a one year rolling contract the manager would have had to give the board a years notice or give up his severance pay but NL was paid up in full which would indicate the board instigated his leaving as they would also have to give him 12 months notice or pay him a full years contracted money.
NL worked under THE exact same constraints as RD but the money spent on player recruitment was higher during his time.}

07 Dec 2015 14:38:27
If that's the case with Lennon then so be it, I'm not arguing for Lennon, the issue is that it's the constraints that are wrong and dragging the club down.
In my view, Whoever the manager is, if they are prepared to work under these conditions, they are just putting their own interests ahead of the team, I don't have a lot of time for people like that.
We criticise players for being selfish and greedy, why should it be any different with managers/coaches?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm still waiting on a RD calendar, when that happens you know the manager has a massive ego and more front than Brighton!}

07 Dec 2015 16:57:16
Gerryc on a serious note, explain how RD is in it for himself? Your beginning to sound as if you have a vile hatred for RD.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 19:18:22
DN30, I feel he's in it for himself because he seems content to have the job at any cost. He hasn't got his own backroom staff, and he doesn't look as if he has much say in what players come into the club.
A manager who had any steel about him would surely at the very least insist on his own backroom team, the fact that he can't or won't even argue for this makes him look weak in my opinion.
The way Celtic operate, is not working in my opinion, John Park and Peter Lawwell are only concerned with figures on the balance sheet, they seem to buy any old rubbish as long as they are cheap.
I can't separate Ronny from them though, they appointed him, and he seems more than happy to go along with their methods, they are all dependant on one another.
I know full well it won't happen, but I would like a manager who was willing to speak out on behalf of the team, and not be under the thumb of Lawwell and Park.
It's not a hatred of the manager, it's a real dislike of the way the club is run, the fact that all three of them are content with this way of working means I can't take to any of them. Lawwell and Park seem only concerned with their bonuses, and Ronny seems content to go along with it all rather than speak out, so he keeps his job.
To me that looks as if he's more concerned with keeping his job rather than speaking out and doing what's right for the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Dec 2015 20:43:38
Gerryc would you of rather of had someone like owen coyle? RD obviously thought the right tools would be in place off the field to assist him. A club the size of celtic why wouldn't he?

There is too much interference from PL for any manager. JP does not have aptitude to identify suitable striker or winger. We need a scout that is familiar with 4-2-3-1 cause its a major failing and to be honest would of been the difference in europe.

Realistically since Strachan left, we have all been divided over each manager since.

It doesn't matter if you hate R D or not . If you come on here on practically a daily basis and find fault at nearly everything he does and tries to do at Celtic . If you believe the nonsense and quote the SMSM including Sutton you are trying to undermine the job he is doing at Celtic . That means you are undermining the club you all profess to love . I know we have some young things on here, who don't remember the almost thirty years in a row without us having European Football after Christmas . However those who remember Jock Sein's era also remember some of the leanest years ever . Let us show some appreciation for what we have, we have had worse.
