Ed, hope you and the family are well and safe. Can you shed any light on the different reports that French Eddie will sign for Liecster fir 15 million? Seems like a ridiculous amount. cheers.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'd be amazed if Celtic sold Edouard for £15 million, I just don't see that happening at all and it's just made up newspaper rubbish imo.}

05 Mar 2021 22:13:57
Thanks Ed, looking forward to podcast.

If we sell Eddy for a paltry £15m whoever agrees to that needs tarred and feathered. No way do we accept that. He hasn't helped with his downing tools, shows a lack of character and might prevent a better fee as he may be seen as someone who throws a strop if he doesn't get his way. But £15m woukd be the tin hat as we need all we can get to rebuild this shell of a team. I can't see DD spending even after King called him and Lawell out. I hope I'm wrong and he is raging. But, I doubt it.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2021 20:06:47
I'd rather keep him then let him leave on a free. When you consider the original investment then the sell on money due to psg the profit would be a couple million. I'd take the chance of the new manager and eddy hitting it off and potentially then signing a new deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2021 17:36:41
15m for Eddy, laughable. 15m + Choudrhuy and Iheanacho maybe.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Mar 2021 18:04:29
Yeah, what sort of offer is that £15m is ridiculous, considering we bought him for £7M when he was a nobody. There’s also a large percentage add on sell on transfer fee too.

05 Mar 2021 20:09:18
We paid 9 for eddy. 7 was for jullien.

Just saw that Taylor is out of the game on Sunday. This means that the bomb scare who is Laxalt will be playing on Sunday. ☹️☹️.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2021 22:00:05
Thanks Kev for the correction, so on that basis 40% of the transfer goes to PSG, we’ll be selling at a loss!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2021 05:07:31
It’s 40% of any profit made by Celtic.
If those figures turn out to be correct,
then PSG would get 40% of £6 million profit.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2021 09:29:26
So we’d be selling him for 3.6 million? No thanks, I’d rather keep him till his contract runs out. Next season is massive if the winner gets automatic cl qualification.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2021 09:37:11
I thought a while back we’d paid the price on the park for keeping our prize assets when they wanted away albeit that’s easy to say now with 20/ 20 hindsight. We’d have collectively been in uproar had they been sold in the year we were going for the 10 but the situation should have been explained to us and the players named and shamed.

We’re now going to pay the price again when cashing our chips. Their resale value has gone down dramatically due to their performances having failed to hit the heights of previous seasons combined with the fact clubs know they want away and we need to release them.

If Eddy goes for £15m it will another humiliation in a year of humiliations and if it’s to Leicester that will just rub salt into the wounds.

Afternoon ED007 will there be a pre match press conference today or tomorrow?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure it's today but not 100%.}

05 Mar 2021 12:54:58
Cheers ED there could be some suggestions that celtic player should maybe throw the game on Sunday but am one for winning and beating them on home ground build up for winning the sc to get something out this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We will be going out to win every game.}

05 Mar 2021 13:29:32
Make them Earn it as they have had everything bounce for them this season.

05 Mar 2021 14:05:46
Ed that's sly started the sevco can win the league this weekend. tbey can but they are loving it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Here's a question for you I was asked earlier on, what do you think was the bigger upset, Leicester winning the league or them doing it this year?}

05 Mar 2021 14:42:54
Ed Leicester winning the league was a bigger upset. They needed all the big boys to fail ie. Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc. They just needed us to fail this season which statistically had the greater potential to happen however unlikely. We didn’t let them down.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2021 14:44:19
got to be Leicester ed with the spending power other clubs have down there. sevco have spent over 90 million pound since they were formed and spending that in Scottish football and to not have won a trophy by now is a bit embarrassing.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2021 14:50:23
Leicester a lot of us seen this coming wasnt too big an upset! Some folk were sleeping instead of see what the challenge was. We were in decline under lennon for too long.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Mar 2021 15:45:39
A would say Leicester to but they got a wee bit lucky in the fact the big 4 were all kind of in transition. but celtic and Liverpool failing is a major shock as they were so dominant. but hey ho let's sort it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I went for Leicester as well because they had to beat a lot more top teams.}

05 Mar 2021 16:03:21
Ed exactly 👍 I dropped you an email.

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate 👍

05 Mar 2021 17:49:42
UI, is that correct they have spent 90million? They have sold players for very little, so that is some net spend. If we were in their position there would be no way our board would sanction that, in fact if the shoe was on the other foot, I’d presume they would have pushed away from us further and prob got to ten .
This just doing enough to win the league has cost us massively. What will be interesting now though is how the deficit is to be paid back, are they still gambling that they get to the champions league and the big pay day that comes with it.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2021 18:33:04
Really hope they get knocked out in qualifying for champions league that would put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Mar 2021 19:32:21
We all hope they fail, but I bet they tool up for it, knowing getting there pays for upgrading. something we never do. If they do and we again make our usual utter arse of it, we are facing a complete flip and that's all down to never being prepared and buying too many punts and even when we soend n8ney, our recruitment team bring in far too many duds. I certainly how thst whole department get shown the door too.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The recruitment team never brought in anyone, they just found players and recommended the likes of Colley and Toney only for Lawwell to walk away from signing them.}

07 Mar 2021 05:39:53
Ed it’s easy to use those two as examples mate but they also must take responsibility for recommending players like bayo, shved, ajeti, laxalt, etc. That lot should not be near our shopping list.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Weren't Bayo & Shved signed under Rodgers tenure so it would have been Congerton that came up with them - and we all know how Rodgers felt about the Shved signing so who decided on that one?
I don't think Ajeti would be seen as a failure if he had done a full preseason or if he was set a personal fitness program to get him up to speed, he's never looked fit and that's something I have never seen or heard about him.
Laxalt was probably only on any of our lists because he was an available LB and the loan part caught Lawwell's eye.
We also dropped the ball over Mark McKenzie and dithered over a move for Brenden Aaronson although that would have been unlikely to happen he would still have listened to our offer.}

07 Mar 2021 05:57:06
Without a shadow of a doubt Leicester winning the league i'd say.
The odds on Leicester winning compared to the rotten mod reflects that.
There was also a strong chance of the team regressing under Lennon too and if you take one horse out a two horse race there's only going to be one outcome and we were running on 3 legs at best this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2021 09:58:11
Thats over a week since our glorious leader left and still no news or even a incling of who the new guy is . they usually take their time before the white smoke is seen . hope this due diligence pays off and we get the right men in, as we can't feck this one up.

It was 27 years ago yesterday that Fergus McCann saved Celtic and took control of our club.
In Fergus McCann's first season, Celtic won our first trophy in 6 years by winning the 1995 Scottish Cup.
But it took Celtic 18 months to build a team that was capable of making a decent challenge for the league when we went back to the new Celtic Park in season 1995/ 96.
It was still hard going in the early days of Fergus's reign.
Celtic had 13 leagues left that season of 1993/ 94 and we also played 36 league games the following season, when we played our home games temporarily at Hampden Park.
Out of those 49 league matches, Celtic only managed to win 15 league games.
To then go on to win the league within 3 years was an unbelievable achievement.

Buzz Bomb

It’s incredible it’s 25 years since we were decanted to Hampden before returning to the Holy Ground. Where did the time go but that’s life as they say.

One of the best teams I’ve watched with Any Thom, Di Canio, Cadette, Pierre et. al. up front and some great football under the one and only Tommy Burns. Celtic supporters managing us and Celtic supporters playing for us. Paul McStay will we see another? Great memories.

I remember getting my letter from Fergus as a season ticket holder when shares were going on sale stating he would build a 60,000 all seated stadium and we’d have 59,000 season ticket holders with 10,000 on the waiting list. I thought aye right Fergus as I’d just watched Celtic play St. Mirren at a foggy Parkhead on a Wednesday night with 11,000 at the game to shouts of sack the board back the team. But Fergus delivered.

That’s what I call vision.

That’s what’s needed from Dermot Desmond now.

Buzz Bomb

I remember hearing the team read out at Hampden and could have started greeting.

Carl Muggleton and Wayne Biggins come to mind.

Did we sign two soldiers or am I tripping? Do you know that team?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - One of them was Gary Holt that played for Kilmarnock etc managed Livingston and is now working at Falkirk.}

05 Mar 2021 12:03:31
Your right JFP,
Lou Macari signed 2 soldiers.
Like Ed I can only remember Celtic signing Gary Holt.
Gary Holt was a Chef with the army but he bought himself out of the army and turned up at Celtic Park and Macari signed him and his buddy.
Holt came on as a sub in the Mark Hughes Testimonial and both players soon followed Lou Macari to Stoke City.

{Ed007's Note - The other player is called Justin Whittle, Buzz. He played with Stoke, Hull City and Grimsby Town.}

The older fans will remember the whole "Smell The Glove" frenzy back in 1998 when Celtic stopped 10 in a row.
The rumour back then was the "Smell The Glove" came about because Rangers goalkeeper had thrown his glove into the Celtic changing room after a 2-0 victory at Ibrox.
With only half a dozen games left Rangers had to beat Celtic by 2 clear goals to go to of the league on goal difference and they did.
Years later Alan Stubbs mentioned it was nothing to do with the Rangers keeper and that was only a rumour.
Paul Lambert recently told the real story.
Lambert and Tosh McKinlay were training down in Kilmarnock with the Scotland squad.
They happened to be on the bus when Tosh noticed a hand, spray painted on a wall in Kilmarnock with "Smell The Glove" spray painted underneath.
The next day in training, Tosh kept on shouting out "Smell The Glove".
And when Lambert and Tosh got back to Celtic Park they kept it going.
It was Tosh's idea to get T-Shirts made with the slogan on them.
It got leaked to the press that if Celtic won the league, they would have this slogan on their T-Shirts.
And that was when the Flying Pig got the blame for it.

You are 100% correct Buzz. I know this cause my older brother asked him lol. Before all the haters pile on my brother played him at pool in a wee village in the North East about 25 years ago, as Goram had a mate there and used to drink in a few boozers there. Wouldn't have anything to do with the man myself but its just funny seeing that story again cause at the time it really annoyed me.
