As the Diouf debate seems to be winding down [;-)], what about changing tack to start discussions on the truly important issues?

Should Scotland participate in the the GB olympics team?
Should football be included in the Olympics at all?
Is it more important to look after thy own team or Scottish football generally?
Goaline technology? A blessing or a curse?
Which will occur first? Scottish Independence or a Rangers takeover?
Has the snood been given a bad press (and I don't mean how it was ironed)?
Should northern european footballer players wear gloves?
Why do some players wear their socks over their knees?

Any takers on which question will be tackled first?

Jamie Mac, agree the game as a whole has been completely blown out the water, theres more trouble at English games every other week. Ye theres the odd OF like wed where it all kicks off but i think, particularly this season, familiarity breeds contempt, in other words were sick of the f***ing sight of each other lol. Cant agree with you on the red cards, there where at least 2 worse challenges made by both teams b4 Whittakers first yellow but admittedly he should have known better b4 making the second challenge. As for Bougherra, the first was undoubtedly a yellow but the second was a good, hard but fair challenge.

The media have sensationalised the whole affair the way i look at it, at least in most ways. The lennon - mccoist handbags was exactly that, handbags. Some verbals and pointing, where is the massive massive disgrace in that exactly?

Sure it happened twice(i will be extremely surprised if it occurs between they two again) but if they had been the only incidents in the game then there would be no story.

However, the facts remain that the whole rangers staff(sourpuss smith aside) had too much to say too much of the time. Both Gough and Goram have said they are a disgrace and that they tried, only, to kick the opponents. Whittaker was very stupid, Bougherra tried to seriously hurt hooperman then rags the ref later. Diouf sums it all up, no more required on the matter. Gough and Goram boys you really know its true when their making negative comments.

jamie mac im nearly forty(will never get enough)

Baz, yes, Diouf is a crackpot. No, his temperament is not questionable. .it has long since gone beyond questionable. That his history is not pretty is, I think, something of an understatement.

I just hope Walter Smith can see the bigger picture and keep him off the teamsheet, at least on domestic duty.

But above all, I hope whoever is involved in the remaining OF fixtures behaves in a way that is beyond reproach. . whatever the provocation and whatever the result.

Sickbhoy i understand most of your points in that massive rant lol. However, i think you would attempt to defend anyone who plays for Celtic, regardless of what he has done in the past. Most Rangers fans accept that he is a crackpot, his temperament is questionable and his history is less than pretty but while he is wearing a Rangers jersey, we will support and defend him, its only natural. The argument i have been trying to get accross is yes by all means give the guy abuse and ridicule and banter, its all part of the game, but there is a line that you can't cross and its been crossed with Diouf and Lennon. That is indefensible!

Re: Sickbhoy (big El haj rant)
Mate the only reason we love him is because yous hate him. It's a wind up. The guy is a nugget and prob in need of a shrink. I don't think he should have been arrested. I also think that the media has blown the whole old firm game out of proportion. Look at the Midlands derby. no calls for that to be stopped. and what went on their was far worse than the old firm game. What actually happened in that game? Two managers argued. .never seen that before eh. People got sent off. . Surely not. 137 arrests after the game. so what. There was 141 arrests after the Man U game during the week. NO big media stories about that. Jim Jefferies was right. If it wasn't for games like that there would be no interest for outside investors in Scottish football. rant oor

I agree with you C-Bear85 about the media etc, but I only posted that because people were trying to justify his behaviour, comparing him to other players like Roy Keane. I admit after the incident at Parkhead I hated him, but what he done to Jamie Mackie is one of the worst things a professional player could do. Imagine if a Celtic player had went over and had a go at Papac like that the other night? I wasn't overly concerned at first because usually if a player goes down like that and it is serious there is teams of doctors, paramedics straight on the park, I just thought he was knocked out ala Murdo MacLeod against Brazil. The Brazillian FA recently contacted the SFA to see if Murdo was still alive, and then asked him if he had any permanent brain damage etc, for a book they are writing. And if the Scottish Government want to get involved in football they could start by putting some money into it. Did any you guys see that copper typing on Soccer AM this morning? No wonder English folk think we are all bonkers lol

Have we got a sell on fee with mgeady?

heard he may be off to another club in russia? {Ed007's Note -Not that I know or heard of, and would doubt it if the reported transfer fee is true, if the installment rumours are true and they sold him they would have to pay Celtic off in full}

Bhouys. im gona miss you all when the champions retain there tittle.surely to god you would not have the brass balls to come back on this page again. did this web sight exist this time last year ed? if so were th hoops on here this time last season claiming they would be champs last season aswell?.bhouys have you checke the goals for in the spl league table? for all the attacking football how come you have only scored 2 goals more than rangers and you have played 2 games more? {Ed001's Note - all the individual club sites were only started last year, before then it was just the main football rumours website.}

I'll be here anyway, you can win a cup with luck, but a league is earned, no matter who wins it.

Because of the trouble Diouf was causing at Sochaux including assaulting a team mate(1998-1999) he was transferred to Rennes (1999-2000) he was convicted of driving without a licence and causing a very serious car crash, where because of his age and "remorse" he showed the court, he was ordered to carry out community service. He was transferred to Lens where with a 2 year (2000-2002) rather uneventful off field lifestyle earned him a move to England with Liverpool. In March 2003 he spat on Celtic fans, UEFA banned him for two games, his club fined him two weeks wages. He was charged with assault and initially pled not guilty. He changed his plea days before his trial was due to start and was fined £5,000. In season 2004/ 5 he was initially loaned to Bolton and in Novemeber 2004 again he was charged by police after spitting on an 11yr old Boro fan. The outcome of this case I am not sure of. The same month Diouf spat in the face of a Portsmouth player. Sam Allardyce fined him the usual two weeks wages and the FA banned him for 3 games after his club made him plead guilty to a charge of improper conduct. On the 20 September 2009, Diof was arrested and questioned after allegedly racially abusing a minor after telling a Everton ball boy "f*** off, white boy", he tried to justify his actions by saying the Everton fans were racially abusing him, but the police report stated they could find no evidence of this.
Then in April 2010 Diuf was arrested in Manchester and charged with serious motoring offences. Finally there was his shameful/ disgraceful/ sewer rat actions against Jamie Mackie as he lay injured was the final straw, Blackburn looked into the legality of sacking him, but they couldn't so he was immediately hawked all over not just Europe but the world. The only team who showed any interest was Rangers, and IMO it was WS only option to replace Kenny Miller. I posted all this info when he signed and I can't see how any decent Rangers fan can defend him. As I said of the other nights fiasco, if it was a through and through Gers man like McCoist/ Gough/ Durrant/ Goram etc you could understand a reaction like that to an extent, but this guy has been here weeks and is acting like a Rangers legend. Whatever else happened no other Rangers player tried to get that close to supporters, I personally think the police officer who stopped him should have arrested him there and then. It took Kenny McDowell to drag him off the park. Sam Allardyce has stated that he considered sending him to a sports physchologist! Alot of faults on both sides the other night, but Diouf disgraced himself again, and could have caused a very serious incident. Again it's only my opinion but if Rangers weren't in financial trouble WS, the type of man he is, would sack him or tell him he would never play for the club again. How can anyone compare guys like Roy Keane and the others to that record? The man is a disgrace to football and himself, when he is sitting retired he should phone up Keane, Viera etc and ask to compare medals. What will Diouf be remembered for?
Gers fans I am not getting at you guys, just at Diouf, there is heat of the moment stuff that happens, but Dioufs had a heat of a lifetime. His actions are undefendable.

Re champions
so you want some bragging, how about beating rangers 3 times that sounds good to me.
how about we have more chance of winning the treble than rangers.
how about this is now and not last year and celtic are the better team.
mind you rangers have only half a team right now plus a clown so st mirren are up for it on sunday.
celtic's paul mcgowan will be playing and rangers have not been able to keep celtic strikers from putting the ball in the back of the net, have they?
