Why are we going to pay 1.5m for ciftci with a year left on his contract and sell a player for a similar amount who is proven in the CL? Ciftci is not that good a CF I wish we would stop with this sh*t and spend 4/5m on a good CF! All we seem to do is waste cash on CF's! Let's get Finbo!

Never going to happen buddy! The usual penny pinching will continue aslong as Lawell is in charge! We should all get used to the 1-2 million player from now on! Reading the other day Bristol City bid nearly 3 million for a hull player! This is what we've become and it really pisses me off! How can we expect to get in the CL never mind give it a go in it if this is what we're Lookin to spend on players! Not going to happen I'm afraid!

The only way to get the board to spend money is if we all tell then that we are not buying a season ticket till we know the calibre of player we are getting.

Marco that's exactly what I did 3 years ago! When Celtic overcame the odds to qualify for CL by beating Shaktar Karagandy in the play off I expected the board to spend a bit of money bringing in two or three quality players knowing Champions League money was guaranteed and we had also raised around £20m buy selling Wanyama,Hooper and Wilson! Instead what we did was sign Temu Pukki who didn't get a game for Shalke and had 3 bids rejected for Lee Tomlin from league 1 Peterbourgh! That was the last straw for me! So when I received a call from a female member of staff asking what the reason was for me not renewing my season ticket I replied " If Peter isn't prepared to spend money on the team, I'm not prepared to spend money watching the team and you can pass that message onto him" I doubt he ever received that message!

Good post Ice man, the only way forward with regards to signing better players is to replace the board. We need people in place that don't need to make cost savings in order to make up their bonus. We the fans need to take to the car park to let Pedro know that we are fed up with his spin and lies! Hail hail

The board run the club well, I think changing the board is a bit radical! We get promised money will be spent if we qualify for the CL all the time and it never happens! We need a good CF to qualify for the CL and make an impact! Ciftci might be a decent signing but not what we really need! I'm pretty pissed off with the wasted money on balde, pukki, scepovic! That's the cash for the quality CF we need but we so me rather waste the cash! That's just bad business!

I think changing the board is a bit too far but what we should do is at the next agm. Bring up this matter and see what he says.

We all know what he'll say mate! He'll spout his usual garbage about what comes in gets invested in the team! Not spending on a few quality players cost us CL qualification last year,and it will this year if we don't get our act together! we gave RD the benefit of the doubt because he was just in the door,but if we fail this year there will be no exuses! And I don't even blame the manager! It's Lawell who's to blame! We should have enough to get through the 1st couple of rounds(hopefully) but in the play off we could come up against a half decent side! Just hope I'm proved wrong ,but I think we'll struggle! Remember wee griffiths for the 1st half of last season looked like he wouldn't even be here! And scepovic just hasn't done it! Is this what we expect to get us in the group stages? Granted wee Leigh has done well when he got his chance! Europes a different level but! Ciftci for me is nowhere near enough! any views ED?

{Ed007's Note - If we don't sign a better standard of striker than Griffiths or Ciftci we'll really struggle to qualify for the CL. I'd prefer that we kept our money and just kept with Griffiths than waste any money on the very average Ciftci.
We've wasted enough money on Balde and Pukki level of players and I don't think Ciftci is any better than Pukki, the Dundee Utd striker would be a good player for 41 clubs in Scotland, CFC isn't one of them.}

I agree with you ED, you would think they would have learned their lesson from the last couple of years.
If they are not going to spend money to actually improve the team then why bother.
Gary Mackay Steven and Stuart Armstrong is one thing, but if we keep buying players from Dundee United, are we not going to end up as Dundee United.
Surely Celtic can do better than this.

{Ed007's Note - I don't believe Ciftci is our main target this summer so hopefully he's only being targeted as a squad player. I still think Scepovic will return to Spain, possibly on loan, before the end of the window, maybe Ciftci is seen as his replacement in the squad?}

Well said mate! Sick to the back teeth with us lookin to bring in these mediocre strikers! It gives me no pleasure whatsoever to say we'll struggle to get in the CL! But the reality is,u get what u pay for! These 1-2 million strikers just aren't good enough! And the stats prove it! There's vossen away to burnley! I'd have put money on him scoring a barrel load in Scotland,and at least making some sort of impression in Europe! A strikers who's played for his country and in CL for under 3million! And he's at a good age! Like I said if we fail in Europe Lawell has to shoulder the blame! He's done good things for our club,but his failure to provide our past 2 managers with decent funds is costing us on the park! I think he forgets that's the most important part of football! Not what the bank balance looks like! And I'm not sayin let's be daft and throw silly money about! But give us half a chance eh!

Agreed if we wait til January we can sign him on a pre contract then there fans will moan and say should have sold for 1 million it's obvious to see that they don't want to do business with us but can see there point after gms and Armstrong

Is Ciftci or Vossen going to sign? Come every transfer window we seem to have an exhausting and embarrassing public struggle to secure a striker. I wish we would keep our transfer dealings secret until they are 100% agreed (although I know this is virtually impossible given mouthy agents etc.) I realise 95% of our supposed targets are tenuous flyers being taken by the red tops to shift papers.

The interest in these two appears to be genuine but I hope someone with more quality becomes available late in the window. Vossen appears to be using us for other means, and Citci is going to be banned for months and therefore unavailable. I am praying that we pull one out of the bag for the qualifiers
