I know it was a sore one tonight lads but we are still right in this group.
Only in 3rd by a 2 goal difference.
Few players missing tonight that would make the team a lot better.
So let's get the chin up and move on to Sunday.

I think Christie needs a run in this team and could provide the drive in midfield we're missing. He has a great first touch and can pick a pass.

Christie is not and never will be good enough for us! We need players who will improve us as a team and he won’t!

He's awful.

Agree to disagree there, never seen him have a decent run in the team but tomes I’ve seen him play he’s rarely done anything wrong and has had moments where he shows real potential.

Regards Christie, i agree but who else do we have? We have no real options up front. That was our hardest game in group playing Salzburg away, at least its out the way. Concern i have though is, how much Red Bull are still involved with Salzburg? If it comes to deciding what 2 times progress (salzburg leipzig ownership) will they instruct how each team should perform in order to ensure both the clubs qualify?

My last rant is uefa coefficient points. Wish to God each team representing our league would chip in with better effort. We are roughly 5 points away from overtaking Switzerland and gaining 2 CL and 3 Europa places which means higher TV deals and more incentive for players that will make a difference to join.

Totally flawed points scoring policy that needs taken advantage of.

Ryan Christie is an excellent player at SPFL level.

He has scored critical goals for Aberdeen and is a prolific goal assist.

Brendan plays him out of position. He is a natural right winger (James Forrest’s position) .

Christie is a big reason Aberdeen finished second in the last two years. His absence is a big reason Aberdeen are now seventh behind TRFC.

Defended well first half, Hendry and boyata playing really well at this point. Missed Dembele big time I think. Second half we collapsed and again Lustig fails to deal with a dropping ball. How many f'n times is he going to cost us. Near enough every one of their attacks came towards him. Don't know what Gordon was doing with the 2nd, should've dived right at the forwards feet, Hendry should have moved to near post when Cross went over his head as well. All ifs and buts again. Forrest should have been stronger but was unlucky. I thought McGregor was poor again tonight and the less said about Griffiths the better.

Mulumbu was everywhere, good performance from him. As someone said down a bit, playing him and brown with Ntcham ahead in Leipzig could be a shout.

Really wish Gamboa and Bain would start instead of Lustig and Gordon, god knows what the manager sees in they two.

If it's because of the Sevies result compared to ours johnbhoy there's no comparison. Rapid Vienna are dire and are languishing 18 pts behind Salzburg after 9 games . Salzburg haven't lost at home domestically or in Europe for 2 years and have won all 9 league games this season. How the feck we ended up in this group being 2nd seeds is beyond me 😣.

05 Oct 2018 08:10:18
Agree stevie, we have a very tough group and will have over achieved if we get through. Salsburg and leipzig are both CL standard teams.

04 Oct 2018 21:44:11
Must've watched a different game from ya'll. The criticism of Lustig and Hendry is out of control. Both played well enough over the 90.

With an out-ball we would have conquered them tonite.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2018 22:22:41
I thought overall we defended well. My issue is Craig Gordon. He gives the defence absolutely no confidence and needs replaced with a top keeper. Love lustig but we're crying out for a new right back. What a difference these 2 things would make to us.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 22:33:28
Lustig was rotten and hendry did as well as he could. Time to play Gamboa more often.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Oct 2018 00:05:05
Lustig was shocking for the equaliser, he was more focused on not conceding a penalty when he should've put his body on the line to stop the ball. As a team tho in the second half we weren't at the races, infact it was before that we started gifting possession.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Oct 2018 11:58:08
Stephboy2 you're right mate, that's 3 goals conceded from lusting square onto the guy at the by line in Europe this year, not good enough. Time to hang the boots up or move on .

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 21:21:55
Well, glad that final whistle came.
Not much to say but I think we need to spend some time in training learning how to pass the ball to one of our OWN players and not giving it to the opposition.
I lost count of the number of times we broke down an attack then gave the ball straight back to them.
If it's not that, it's someone under pressure passing to another player then HE, passes it straight back to the man under pressure.
We also need to work on how to stop imploding as soon as the opposition score a goal!
Anyway, just my tuppensworth.

We need to learn to create space when we have the ball and block spaces when we don't. Get back to the basics.

I think it is a confidence issue.

05 Oct 2018 12:00:45
Totally lost any confidence from past 2 seasons . WHY THOUGH?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 21:17:41
The most disappointing thing about tonight was the lack of belief when we went 1-0 up. We invited them on to attack for about 88 minutes and paid the price for it in the end. We defended pretty impressively in the first half but unfortunately there was almost an air of inevitability about the final outcome.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2018 22:15:39
Agreed on that.

We looked pretty solid defensively first half but I never really believed we were going to win that game.

04 Oct 2018 22:48:42
BR can't win, play the BR way try to play with style and confidence: heavy defeat no shame as teams with more money and better players lose by similar score, questions hysteria. . Change tact with a team minus of major players in defence midfield and attack in a game most anticipated a loss anyway to a very decent side. reality check please! Still think we will progress. The home game against Salzburg is the game which will decide out fate (imho) think we will deal with Liepzig away draw at worst Rosenburg away win home games expected wins. For me that game is the one. Hopefully we have more options by then and less on the treatment table.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 19:56:05
We got off to a great start and defended well in the first half. Well outplayed the second half. Lustig is a big pussie standing there with the hands behind his back which led to their equaliser. He should have put his full body into charging the ball down and stopping the cross. As for the second Hendrys stumbling about like the town's local piss head! Forrest was to lite weight for the penalty. It was the usual groundhog Day in away European ties. Also Leigh Griffith's didn't look fit enough.

04 Oct 2018 21:19:02
Pud I said that to my brothers did it home and away v Aek and they scored both times. Go and block the player if your touch tight and the ball hits your arm no ref will give it and the player won't get a cross in.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 20:47:37
I wasn't expecting too much from tonight; so - although I hate seeing us get beat in any game - it's not a crisis or a disaster; however, when we lose one goal away in Europe - it's a sure thing we will virtually collapse.
Great first half defending after snatching that goal, but we are so nervy and soft-centred in Europe and failing to keep the ball for longer than ten seconds put us under a lot of pressure, but they were a very good team once they got going.

Anyway; it's all about domestic dominance and success for me, until we get the required quality we have been crying out for in these key positions, to make any sort of progress in Europe.
The manager has come in for some stick about his record and tactics in these games and maybe so? but he has to use who is available and tonight we were second best, although Mulumbu, Forrest, and KT were excellent and Eddy took his goal brilliantly.

OAB it’s just disheartening to watch us in Europe. We never really seem capable of delivering a good result unless there is turmoil at the other clubs ie Anderlecht

55 mins of hope destroyed by our biggest weakness that we have known for many a year

Defending.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Oct 2018 04:06:25
Kev T i agree if we had more solid defence maybe things may have been different.

Not just saying this cause im drunk but honestly can't remember till there that benkovic name. what's he actually done? Really need to tighten defence january but poses question if Boyata is sold, how quickly will new centre backs gel?

Regarding benkovic i've not a problem with club developing other clubs players in higher rated leagues, but i think he is going to be injury riddled player. I think he will be away back January if macguire is sold.

04 Oct 2018 20:40:31
I've loved Lustig but I'm afraid he's becoming a liability. I wouldn't say I would not play him again but he's not up to 2/ 3 matches a week. He's constantly becoming a fault for most of ours goals conceded, doesn't make forward runs and never makes a forward pass that finds a Celtic player. Good things come to an end.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2018 20:14:26
Do we still think Lustig is better than Ralston give the boy a run in the team or has he done something to anger Brendan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2018 21:35:31
Gamboa is more effective than Lustig? Or do the Scotland truck switch kt to rb get Izzy in lb?

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 20:05:02
Not a bad display against a side that hasn't lost at home for 2 years and are among the favourites to win the tournament. What tonight did show us is Lustig is finished and has been for a while now. Salzburg identified he was our weakness and exploited it with all 3 goals coming down the left. The Forrest sending off came from him covering for Lustig.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Oct 2018 20:24:23
Sending off was harsh. Apart from that outplayed by a team high on confidence and on an amazing run.

A rocking Celtic Park, with the team pressing them hard, as the few times we managed to run at their back line, they were stretched. Classic style of play where offence is their defence.

Hard night but I am going to put something positive on.
We have won a watch with Yousouff Mulumbu.
Next euro game away from home play him Brown and McGregor in front of back 4.

04 Oct 2018 21:10:32
Can Ntcham play the more advanced role? Love Cal Mac and he's stalwart, but think with a bit of space Ollie's worth playing. Mulumbu and Broony would be fearsome.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 22:09:06
Not away from him though cava. There was no space tonight. Get the 3 hard working players in middle to protect back four away from home.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 22:17:04
I think Ntcham is the most overrated player we have had in years. He was absolutely appalling tonight.
The penalty and red card were a disgrace. As was Lustig's defending for the first goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 22:32:51
Kev was saying to my matesbefore I like Mulumbu as much as I love broony he tends to drop into a 3rd ch too often which doesn’t allow the midfield to function as a unit Mulumbu will be a great addition.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 22:39:20
Ntcham does not look interested now that dembele is away. Sell him in Jan and play mulumbu in there instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 23:06:28
Marco don't talk nonsense.
He run riot against the mob and done not bad in other games since.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The next time KT misplaces a pass or overhits the ball we'll just say he's missing Paddy Roberts and looking to leave, sell him in January and play Izaguirre or Calvin Miller in there. Craig Gordon.}

05 Oct 2018 03:56:44
Bit harsh Ed mate regarding KT, in his defence think it was more a case he couldn't concentrate knowing that the clown known as Rod Stewart was in stand lol only joking

Makes me sick seeing him at any game. Only appears when suits, yet parades himself as celtics biggest supporter ( I actually chinned a radio station host via email about him being "one of them") . Biggest supporters in my eyes are each and every single one of us. Each of every one of us who love club unconditionally and not some absolute charleton like rod.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You might want to read back why I said that about KT, every time we lose or Ntcham doesn't put in a MOTM performance it seems to be - according to some - because he is missing Dembele or he doesn't want to be here etc etc.}

05 Oct 2018 10:29:54
Ntcham on form is a great signing, i think Dembele leaving has turned his head a bit, but once he realises Celtic won't sell him for a season or two yet he will settle down a bit and return to top form.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2018 16:12:33
Well it's Murrayfield and Hearts feel they have one up on us. Surely this means all Season Ticket Holders of both club can now attend the game as we have 53000 and Hearts have 13000.😋😋

Now I would be over the moon with that arrangement. Not a hope in hell this will happen. But would love to see the reaction of their Manager's face if we did ask for this!
I'll be going and can't wait to see the smile wiped off Ann Budge's lovers face.

It doesn't matter were we are playing our slow build up play and lack of penetration will screw us. We need to up the tempo in games and start to press teams higher up the pitch.

Not sure if it's been said yet but I think Murray field will suit our players more than hearts with it being a bigger wider pitch and the grass being the same we have a Celtic park.
