Cant understand why people jump from either celtic or sevco to support the other side. It's a cardinal sin.

Re the Sean Connery question, the story is he used to get VIP treatment at Celtic Park for all the big games in the 1960s and 70s.
When Fergus McCann became owner and was told Big Sean wanted a 'freebie' for a big game, the wee man said, he can pay the same as the rest of the fans. Connery is notoriously tight fisted and declined.
David Murray heard about this and stepped in to wine and dine Connery at Ibrox where he was seen thereafter.

Can anyone shed some light on the Sean Connory thing. I'm almost certain he was once a Celtic fan. Maybe I imagined him in a video I once had about Celtic.

Yeah. I has the video too. Season 91/92. He gave an interview saying he used to come to parkhead as a youngster. What a croc.

Dear Ed001,
Why don't those people who bring in players negotiate such a deal as your suggesting. It's just a thought - I'm assuming the media are saying tt Gerrad rekons he has made the wrong choice by going to the USA. I think he would combine more effectively with GMS and Armstrong, thus less flawless play in midfield - therefore stronger defence and attck.

{Ed001's Note - I am sure they could, if they tried, but I am also sure his legs are gone and he would struggle and disappoint.}

04 Nov 2015 19:11:30
Agree with Ed. Wrong side of the hill and not worth uprooting Bitton and Brown for the sake of what, a season, two at a stretch? Like a few on here I thought we should have went for Giovinco who moved to the MLS on a free, he's tore it up and now apparently top Euro clubs are sniffing. Barrios was another over the summer I would have loved to see us at least go in for. There are certainly players that come along on Bosmans, albeit slightly higher wages, who offer good value and would improve our side. Unfortunately even at the end of his Liverpool days I don't think Stevie is one of them.

Assuming most people agree with the "idea" SG is rather old and perhaps past it, well perhaps he is. But then again their are those who speak about change in the market. I often wonder what does this imply?, any suggestions. I think SG knowledge and ability on the pitch may perhaps influence but not manipulate RD's decision making regarding FC's ability on the pitch whereby encouraging their job properly. Then again - I might be wrong.

We have signed EPL players at the end of their careers , and the vast majority haven't been of much benefit to us . Liverpool players have come before and have let us down . If we sign a midfielder I would rather he was young and eager to do well.

Following today's announcement I am not among those shouting for titles to be stripped, what's gone is gone and it's the occasion and memories that matter.
Gers fans can have no doubt they cheated!

Anyway looking at our trophy cabinet I see the very real possibility of our great club winning its 100 honour, 46 leagues, 36 scottish cups, 15 league cups and 1 big cup so far.

A great achievement for a great club and done without cheating and the aid of institutional bias!

I have to say that I think titles should be stripped from those who have broken the rules . Not just as a punitive action against Rangers but as a warning to all clubs in the future . Remember junior clubs have been thrown out of competitions for illegally fielding one player. We don't want certain members feel big clubs can get away with cheating, whilst small clubs are punished for rather trivial offences .

Why do people slate Gary Hooper? He was a loyal servant, a great player forus, yet get slated for ending up at Sheffield Wed? Wasnt the same story when Larsson went to Barcelona! Give the bhoy a break.

{Ed001's Note - does it not tell you something, the difference in the two clubs the players ended up at I mean?}

Hooper wanted to better himself which is fair enough. He let a lot of the supporters down by basically deciding that Norwich was a bigger club than Celtic. Personally, I have no feelings either way other than he had a better chance to prove himself against CL sides with Celtic so I did not see it as a better move career wise, only financially. (which a lot o supporters saw, and selling your loyalty does not sit well with them)
He has not moved up the way he thought he could using Celtic and Norwich as stepping stones so you can't blame supporters for rubbing it in after they felt slighted by him.

04 Nov 2015 10:38:01
The lad is English, not a Celtic fan, and wanted to play in the BPL. Can't really blame him. He'll know there are aspects of playing for Celtic which will be missed, and from what Kelvin Wilson was saying in the press Hoops does miss us. He wasn't to know Norwich would go down and he'd find himself out the side. That's why it's nice this morning to read Bitton's comments. Despite our p! sh league he'd rather play for Celtic than a mid-low BPL side. He's headed for the top though. Higher than Hooper. Bitton will play for Barcelona I'm tellin yees.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 11:56:28
I must admit I'm surprised Hooper didn't do well down there, it shows that application/dedication is as important as ability, - look at that Jamie Vardy, he is like a man possessed every time I see him. Hooper was a great finisher though, he was ice cold in front of goal, I loved those 2 goals against the other mob when he passed it into the net at ibrox off the left hand post from the angle, and the one he killed weir with the first touch and scored. His goal at Dens Park also was world class. He was a strange character, - he came across as backward. Getting him on a Bosman in Jan is tempting I must admit.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 12:17:21
As long as the player does his best for Celtic when he pulls on the hoops, I will rarely complain when they leave - for whatever reason. However there seems to be more, for whom the grass isn't always greener when they go and very few get a chance to come back.

05 Nov 2015 00:58:42
Jungle Jim 2 it's what he does when he plays for us is all I care about . I wouldn't really be too happy if Hooper came back to us but 25/30 goal a season would win me round .
