Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

04 Mar 2015 22:25:02
OK it was our first league defeat since December, but we have only won once in our last four games.
Whatever the angle, we missed a great chance to go nine points clear before the very important Cup games; although StJohnstone are an old bogie team of ours.
We have had injuries to important players in Commons and Izzy, but we should be able to carry that with the squad available - but when you add Armstrong and GMS who are ineligible then we have major changes to a system and formation that was working very well this past two months.

Guys like Forrest and Stokes have to step up and show some sort of desire and effort to fight for a place and the centre forward situation is causing concern?
A victory tonight would have sent a strong message to Utd and confidence would have been sky high but we have put a bit of pressure on ourselves - as usual.

RD has to get it right, not once but at least twice out of the three successive meetings and the support will expect a hat trick of wins.
This will be his and the players biggest test to date and I hope tonight serves as a wake up call and a reminder, we have won nothing yet. C O Y B I G.

Manager made a big mistake with his line up tonight. Johansen playing fantastic in an advanced role and all of a sudden dropped in the midfield. Out only real defensive midfielder left on the bench and once again the very poor Anthony Stokes given a game. Another game when our right back cannot finish 90 mins so this again takes up a substitution. And please, please tell Effie he's just not good enough!

Agree1 Disagree3

I agree that Johansen's is more suited to an advanced role and that is where he has played his best games for us.

However, Deila stated that Biton needed a rest and that he wanted him fresh for the Dundee Utd game. As this was the case who else could have played at CM? Mulgrew is even worse than Johansen in this role plus he we not 100% for last night.

In fact I have pointed this out on another forum, we are actually weak in CM if we pick up injuries or need to rotate. As things stand we don't have any decent cover for Brown or Biton and this is something we should address in the summer, ideally we could bring a development player in but not sure we have someone at the moment.

Win after win., and never any mention Deila got it correct . We have people who with hindsight can state Deila got it wrong . To me any fool can tell us after a game whether a manager has got it right or wrong . No manager ever gets all team selections right and all substitutions right, but he can only use the best information available to him, which is usually by watching all his players in training between matches and of course matches that we all see.
Something is surely wrong Efe has played against top class Italians and all four back four positions and he has been at least as good as his defensive colleagues .
Why should we decide now he is not good enough . He is the best substitute defender in Scotland, at the very least .

Total gash performance tonight. Bitton should of been starting, bad subsitutions, just was not our night.

I know of late I go on about Scepovic, but he is without a doubt the best option we have playing this system. What is going on with him? Clearly there is a serious issue and if Deila has no intention of playing him, he shouldn't be on bench. Valuable spot for a youth striker to make the grade if Scepovic is nothing more than a benchwarmer.

Cant understand situation. He is a good player and although Sporting Gijon play in 2nd tier, that league surely is on par with SPL. Scored some good goals last season on youtube, including aganist Zidanes castilla team. Have a look on youtube.

Finding it hard to understand the subs, Wakaso, really. Real poor performance tonight sort of brings us all back down to earth. We need to regroup and be ready for Sunday. Keep the Faith Bhoys and Ghirls Hail Hail

Im the same TamTimTic, the subs were a strange selection. Really don't rate Wakaso, its a massive relief he is only a loan signing

Dn30 under Deila or any other successful manager if you want to attract the manager's eyes to get on to the team, you have to do it during training . That must be the reason Scepovic isn't getting a run and Wakaso got a chance last night . I don't think Wakaso lost us the game last night, but I am not sure he was good enough to get a long run on the team .

04 Mar 2015 21:45:23
That was a joke tonight, Forrest is a waste of a jersey, GMS taken off when ineligible for weekend, Wakaso is crap, stokes shouldn't be near the side. If you're going to shake the team up i'd sooner Henderson and the other lads played because the lads listed above are just plain Garbage!

Puts Sunday's result in the shade, anyone who thinks a treble is a given needs to give themselves a shake

Believable1 Unbelievable1

04 Mar 2015 21:42:04
That was pathetic tonight, with a cup final coming up I expected much more.

Forrest and Stokes should be nowhere near our first team.

RD should not have dropped Biton that mistake is all his.

I would usually come on here ranting and raving but I'm not going to tonite! This was on the cards! Johanssen brown and van diyk must be runnin on empty! What it highlights is the lack of depth in our squad! Ambrose stokes Forrest Wakaso just ain't good enough I'm afraid! And as for scepovic, I know he scored goals in Spain but it's obvious RD just doesn't fancy him and doesn't like what he sees in training! And let's be honest here, he'd still be in Spain if someone would have took him! The boys heart was never in coming here.hopefullu this is a wake up call before Sunday and the cup final! But to me the lack of good quality back up was the reason for tonite! There's only so many times our regular starters can pull us through games! Especially johanssen who puts in a power of work in games! He could defo do with a rest.

so who bought Scepovic?, I thought it was RD, some guys are just bad trainers, they don't come to life unless they are playing in a real game, maybe RD is being pigheaded, and won't play him unless he performs in training, its my way or the
highway, I think he should get a run in the team for three or four games in a row and then he can be judged.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Mar 2015 18:13:23
Aindoh, I cannot agree with your surmising that Deila is just pig-headed . That s daft and comes from reading too many posts on too many forums. Ask yourself who at Celtic Park last night wanted the most to see Celtic winning . I think Deila would want Celtic to win above any petty pigheadedness.

I see the Dundee game has been rearranged for 18th March. Typically a midweek game when we play the Sunday before. in the cup final! Desperate to make it as hard as possible as always with the fixtures arranging. Aberdeen after Europe was no coincidence either, Carefully thought out fixture planning where we could be vulnerable. I suppose the SPL has to try their best to make the league competitive

I was excited when we signed Guidetti but now feel he should not start in front of sceptic, griffiths etc as he has no intention of staying.

If and when we win tonight I would like to see O'Connell getting a run in the team at centre half. We know we are going to have to overhaul this part of the team in the summer, so might as well see what the boy has got. To my mind the few games he has played he has looked alright. Buying isn't always the answer, can't moan about no youth coming through if we don't give them the chance!

Ed, looks like you were on the money with the New Balance deal. I bow to your tremendous inside knowledge. However, there seems to be a lack of info regarding figures. Have you heard anything Ed or anybody else, and do the club usually announce these things publicly? A couple of media outlets are suggesting more money than Nike. Either way it's an exciting prospect!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I've heard it's circa £30 million over 5 years but also heard it's £7 million p.a. but don't quote me on that.}

04 Mar 2015 16:58:44
ED007 surely that is pocket money to Mr King with all the cash he squirreled away in South Africa lol

King kennys birthday today the day after Caesar, isn't that ironic two Celtic legends, one a money grabbing chancer, who shows the club and our fans no respect and who's stock diminishes everytime he opens his mouth the other a true hero, who would bleed green and white and who would rather pull his own teeth out than say anything bad about our club or fans.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've never bought into the whole Dalglish being a CFC legend fallacy. IMO you can only be a playing legend with one club and Dalglish done more for Liverpool than he ever done for us. Would a CFC legend have worked for Rangers?}

04 Mar 2015 14:11:04
Like many fortunate Celtic fans I witnessed Kenny playing great stuff for us for about 5 years. He was pure class and a joy to watch. The fans were crazy about him. I consider myself fortunate to have seen the young carefree King.
Alas, I agree with fab1 and Ed007, he was a typical football mercenary in every respect. I feel he only related to Celtic when he played for us. After he left it was as if we were some Junior training club he had come through. I was very disappointed when as part of the so called Dream Team, he left the inept and inexperienced Barnes to sink or swim. The boy sank like a stone.(Barnes did leave us with Stan Petrov for which I am grateful)However, I think of Dalglish as a terrific former player - but not a True Celt.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Mar 2015 14:52:55
I agree Dalglish was a mercenery first and foremost more fitting players should be called Celtic legends like his team mate at the time Danny McGrain

I loved seeing Bertie Auld before the Inter Milan match, his passion for Celtic is infectious.
Although Kenny Dalglish was a great player, I never feel Celtic is in his heart. For a man born in Glasgow, the fact that Liverpool is his team, shows his heart really lies at the other side of the City.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think his heart is more concerned with his bank balance than his morals. Anyone remember this moonbeam from 1996?

'Kenny will be given a roving role to go out and recommend - and try to attract - the best."We're not talking about young or middle of the road players - we're talking the VERY best. Dalglish will be given an open chequebook to make sure the big names are made an offer they can't refuse. Murray knows the name of King Kenny will not only help capture top stars, but will increase interest from potential investors.

That Dream Team in Full

Ajax attackers PATRICK KLUIVERT and MARC OVERMARS would immediately create a £15 million hole in the Ibrox funds - but would no longer be an impossible prospect.

Paris St Germain's brilliant Brazilian RAI would also come into the equation and players like JURGEN KLINSMANN and PAOLO MALDINI would become targets.

Dalglish's brilliant record in England could prompt moves for ERIC CANTONA and ROBBIE FOWLER.

Top agents like Edinburgh's Jake Duncan reckons even Barcelona's RONALDO would not be out of Dalglish's reach.

If Rangers are making millions then the sky is the limit.'

04 Mar 2015 16:58:56
Think you're being a bit harsh on Dalgleish, he's in the top three most naturally gifted players I ever saw playin for Celtic, Johnstone and Connelly being the others, so I think its fair to say that as a player for Celtic he was a legend, after his playing career was over that's a different story.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Mar 2015 18:15:37
There's no doubting dalglish playin ability, but for me when I think of celtic ledgends McNeill Johnstone larsson and mcstay! Dalglish doesn't even come close! He's one of that mob across the road in my eyes and what he done In a celtic top is long forgotten! Don't even like his name being mentioned in the same breath as our great club!

Hi folks, I hope we go flat out tonight and secure 3 points with another emphatic win. Place plenty of clear daylight between the Celts and the wannabees. Get a huge lead in points and keep piling it on.
I'm a glutton for Celtic goals and Celtic victories. Just can't get enough.

Looking more and more likely JG has no intention of staying with celtic, not a major loss IMO. What is being lost though is a chance for Scepovic to grab some game time after all he is a permanent signing. Why should celtic maximise JG fitness for Ajax, Feynoord, Marseille ect to swoop in when celtic improve him. Think he may have took the huff a little at playing second fiddle to LG.

After promising start, I just don't rate Guidetti and can't see a stampede of clubs chasing his signature in summer.

If there was any serious interest from clubs that could break our payscale, he would of signed for them on pre-contract by now.
