Hi bhoys ano its the silly season but with advocaat back at Sunderland and already been linked with big Virgil would anybody except when the time comes if they make an offer say 8 million plus Steven fletcher??

Believable5 Unbelievable5

05 Jun 2015 06:29:46
No chance of that mate, that would mean a combined deal value of about 12m. While all us celtic fans rate VVD higher than that, the max we will get from anybody will be £10 m

Agree0 Disagree3

05 Jun 2015 09:55:09
Wouldn't be a terrible deal.

@Sacktheboard, I know where you're coming from but we have to stand strong. Some of the figures being bandied about for players are already silly. We have to say look, the likes of Ki, Wanyama, I put VVD in that bracket of class, are quality players, despite playing in Scotland we'll only take the going rate.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2015 10:00:07
Sack the board we got 12.5m for wanyama and 10m for Forster! I think we will be looking at a wanyama type fee for VVD!

Yeah totally agree lads should be holding out for as much as we can OK then 12 million plus Fletcher lol

I think fletcher wage demands would scupper any deal

05 Jun 2015 16:16:51
Fletcher just doesn't get my heart racing. He's sort of the 'type' of striker we're after, just not prolific enough for me at 28/29.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2015 18:39:28
I haven't heard Virgil demanding a move . I think Fletcher is a good big strong scoring type of striker, but I doubt if he would have the mobility that Deila wants for leading the attack . It is said he is earning £50k per week and that would also be a major stumbling block .

What do you think of the news that the football association of Ireland took a 5 million pound bribe to stop them going to court over the henry hand ball .

Believable0 Unbelievable1

04 Jun 2015 20:38:03
It proves that there corrupt people at every level of football. We will replace the con men at the top by equally as corrupt administrators . I think we should be trying to change from bottom up rather than top down .

04 Jun 2015 21:13:18
Chris being Irish this is close to home for you , I think it's scandalous this money can't make up for the joy of watching the national team taking part in a major finals, I remember when Scotland qualified for the 1998 finals and how much me and my friends enjoyed going to packed pubs and watching the games (we were only youngsters at the time lol) I also remember watching a documentary about the republic at the 1990 wc and how it brought the country together how can a measly 5 million quid make up for missing out on that? I hope they make sure every penny of it is accounted for and it goes back into Irish football.

04 Jun 2015 21:37:14
Chris02 this FIFA scandal is going to result in every FA being scrutinised and it will hopefully weed out these ar$eholes at every level

Unbeleivable story,$5 million 'loan',wonder if any of the money was used to build the stadium,is that the Aviva stadium, the whole things astounding, the FAI would have got nowhere in a court case if it was just an officials mistake,or did they know different?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 22:15:21
The stadium was built long before 2010. The stadium is owned jointly between FAI and the Irish Rugby Union . The Irish Government gerously contributed to the building costs . The IRU sold all their executive boxes for a ten year term which meant that they were in a reasonable position to repay the loans involved . The FAI found great difficulty in selling their executive boxes and were reported to have difficulties with their loans .
The one thing that I think is wrong is how accurate the Fai 's accounts are if they can hide £5m coming in in a year .the secrecy of the deal is wrong . If £5 m can be slipped in without anyone seeing it , what would stop an unsculperous CEO or treasurer or someone in a similar position , slip out a couple of hundred for themselves . All secret deals , lead to questions .

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2015 01:18:05
I'm sorry it feels like the FAI are complicit in the Fifa fraud. Doesn't it seem funny that if Fifa are willing to give them hush money then this might not be the first time (with other countries). The Irish football supporter has been cheated out of potentially cheering on their country at the World Cup because the path less travelled was for Ireland to take on Fifa

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Of course the FAI were complicit in it and they won't be the only FA cacking their Calvins tonight. It's only all coming out now because they've all fell out, nobody seems too worried about human rights in Qatar now do they? And I see England are ready to step in, quelle surprise Rodney! Bonsoir!
So how many people died doing their job in Ireland? 55 people were killed in work-related accidents in Ireland during 2014. That's the highest in the previous 6 years, 6 years cover that covers 2009 when the play-off tie was played and 43 people lost their lives, although it was a 25% drop on 2008's figures when there was 57 work-related deaths in Ireland.
Where's the outrage?
Now I don't know how many of those poor souls were asthmatic but Ireland does have the 4th most prevalence of asthma in the world. 470, 000 cases in a population of 4,581,269 - 9.8% of the population or 1 in 10 people.
Just as a side note, CFC fans are desperate for us to qualify for one of the most corrupt competitions in football called the CL and some are even desperate for us to get involved with the corrupt EPL and FA 'coz Engerlund get more money than us from the most corrupt news company in the world.'
Morals eh? Who'd have them?}

05 Jun 2015 06:35:05
Guys the sad facts of life are this. As long as there is a human being in a place of authority someone somewhere will be on the take, it is simply human nature to look after número uno! People are on the take in every walk of life and that will never change. For me, as long as the actuall game results are not influenced in any way I think that's as good as it gets! Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2015 10:24:26
There is so much money involved and in the end too much temptation for a lot of people. No one should be allowed to stand on executive committees or as president more than two terms of office. Even then it should be limited terms. It's good enough to for Governments so it should be good enoug for sports. In addition this closed shop type of voting has to be stopped and the vote granted to other members of the affiliated associations and not just a select group of elite members. Where did Blatter come off with spending association money to conduct an in depth investigation the he is able to refuse access to its findings? (Amongst many other decisions HE has apparently made)
Sick of the whole bloody lot of them

the problem with organisations like Fifa is, they self police, handle huge sums of money, and step ladder had no one to answer too.
It's similar to the European Parliament, and probably all parliaments, greed & self preservation.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You do know FIFA is a registered charity, J and it has been from its early days as a tiny voluntary organisation run on goodwill from a house in Zurich.
FIFA pays very little tax in its home country of Switzerland and it also requires tax exemption in countries who wish to host a WC competition. Any host country requires a comprehensive tax exemption to be given to FIFA and further parties involved in the hosting and staging of the event
The 2010 tournament cost South Africa 33bn rand (£3bn). Yet, a 'tax-free bubble' was established around the event at FIFA’s request, relieving FIFA, its subsidiaries, and foreign soccer associations of any obligation to pay income tax, customs duties or VAT.}

05 Jun 2015 17:56:44
I didn't know that ed, don't get me started on big charity organisations either.
That's the problem with institutions like Fifa, so easy for blater to form a dictatorship, and dangle the money carrot and everyone falls into place, absolutely scandalous

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2015 18:50:40
FIFA and Blatter are corrupt . Changing the executive members at FIFA won't reduce much, if any of the corrupt behaviour . Sack the board is correct , if any human is envolved and if there is room for acting in a corrupt manner, then there will be corruption. Most nations buy voted in one way or other . Germany sent a consignment of arms to get Saudi Arabia 's vote .
How can we stop this?

Aye buddy better stayin away from down there! Those half wits will be running wild down there! Utter disgrace that this is allowed to be held bang smack in the middle of the city centre! But doesn't surprise me at all! The funny hand shake brigade on the council have gave this the go ahead!

Exact same mate. Me and mrs had planned a nice night out in merchant square to celebrate our anniversary. Had to cancel now wouldn't be anywhere near glasgow on sat. The dregs of society will be out in force. Mrs is gutted and glasgow council should be ashamed. So much for the big clamp down.

Aye mate use would be better going somewhere far away from round that area! Have a good night elsewhere! U would be sittin down there with in a cold sweat if u were sittin anywhere near there!! And the only big clamp down is on our side mate! That mob still get to run amok with there walks and orange party's in the middle of the town! Makes it all the more sweeter that we're miles ahead of that mob on and off the park! Because we all know it makes the funny hand shake brigade sick! 😆😆😆 let them have there bigoted bash! It's the only party they'll be havin this season! Let them kick the crap out each other and wreck the pubs in George square!

These bloody bigoted marches are becoming more regular every year . In our austerity times , I think it should be the responsibility of the parade organisers to strive to keep all parades to a minimum ump to reduce policing costs and to allow normal trade and commerce to continue .

Chris you won't believe this it's not a walk that's next week its an all day festival talking place in the center to try and humanise these people and their bigotry to the general public , you could not make it up .

I have to say I am against them on all sides. Don't see the need for them at all. I will be staying well away on sat so thanks to the glasgow council and orange order for leaving a my wife who has no interest at all in religion or football apprehensive about going into her nearest city centre. When I phone to cancel table tomorrow I will be explaining exactly why I am cancelling and I would say to fab and anyone else who had plans for Glasgow on sat to phone where they were planning to go and explain why you are staying away. I'm sure a bar owner would love to hear from you fab when you tell them that you and 10 friends won't be coming in and emptying your wallets thanks to the Orange order

04 Jun 2015 21:27:22
Done it already Gary , we were going to go to the golf lounge first before the game but I phoned up and told them why we wouldn't be coming and the girl on the phone told me 2 other party's had cancelled for the same reason. I'm the same Gary don't believe it necessary to have marching from either side .

As some on here know I have been doing specific bets all season on Barcelona games. ( a penalty for either side, BTTS, etc. ) so for the CL final on Saturday I am putting up a long shot with big odds, and, in my humble opinion, a banker bet at very short odds. Long shot is Messi, Neymar and Suarez ALL to score at enhanced odds of 25/1, I have been doing this treble all season and it has paid off several times at various big odds. All 3 to score in a CL final is a very big ask but at 25/1 worth a WEE punt. My hopefully, "banker" bet is Messi, Neymar or Suarez, ANY ONE to score in 90 minutes, odds are a skinny 1/4 but surely one of the trio will score so this bet I am going in BIG on. Putting bets on early as odds will drop if a lot of people bet them.

Anybody else get annoyed about this in that rag -SPFL Premiership suffers £11million hit for season 2013-14 as Celtic's revenue dips'. Reads like it's all celtics fault, sevco not even mentioned! Beggar belief

Believable3 Unbelievable0

04 Jun 2015 17:06:32

Ed was reading a report yesterday that Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer fears that Jordan Rhodes will be sold this summer and that Derby and Middlesbourgh were interested in signing him! It may just be paper talk but I think a move to either of these clubs would be a sideways step! Although he is a regular scorer for Blackburn his career doesn't seem to be moving forward the way everyone thought it would! I would love to see this guy at Celtic although I'd imagine we'd be priced out of a move! What's your thoughts Ed?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's not just paper talk mate, Middlesbrough tried to take Rhodes on loan in March with an agreement to pay £8 - 10 million for him whether they went up or not but the deal couldn't be agreed. Blackburn won't get quite that much now but that's the kind of money we're talking about, £6-8 million(??), so I can't see it happening and that's why I've never suggested him as an option even though I think he's a cracking player and in my opinion would be ideal for the system we're playing.}

04 Jun 2015 17:09:18
Yeah i'm sure Redknapp in typical fashion stated that Blackburn would not budge on an £8m fee. I'd pay that for him but we're never going to be in that market. Got my heart set on Finnbogasson and Araujo now out of recent links.
