Most if not all are sold now. Think maybe 100 tickets here and there last I heard a while ago. Maybe other posters have a bit more knowledge on this.

Season tickets are sold out apart from restricted view and the ones you don't get to see sevco. Father in law was down trying to get a couple last Thursday.

Not seen any of this tour or match reports. Any impressions from anyone who has?

Ajer mcart ralston janko have impressed . team played ok but just typical friendlies so won't criticise anybody just yet.

The early pre-season matches are not meant to be a source of giving impressions on to what to expect in the incoming season and our two matches have been prime examples of that .
Daviebhoy, you really have missed nothing, apart from seeing it took 23/ 24 players to see out the 90 mins.

Watched both games, Ajer has looked very good although he is playing out of position at center half. Janko also looked good.

Cheers guys, the Janko thing is potentially very good news. Would be like a new signing. Looked handy at the start last year and him overlapping with Roberts could be lethal.

The deadwood clear out is looking good so far with mulgrew 14 thousand a week commons 20 and Efe 10 set to be leaving along with Cole ckr stokes borigter gone all ready must be saving quite a bit off the wage bill.

Scepovic as well we sold for €1.5 million could see Bitton sold for €7 million.

Would be good news, but not sure all of them would go, on loan or sale, I think KC and Effe would be sitting out their last year if a move does not suit them, not putting them in the Bobo caterogy, but money is money.

04 Jul 2016 19:16:31
There was a difference with big bobo.
He was better than the players that replaced him.

04 Jul 2016 19:30:21
Kev83 I happen to agree with you 100%, but money is money and Effe and KC will dictate and stick to their contracts if what's on offer does not suit them.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2016 19:41:06
I don't think it's the same situation with them remember bobo was his own agent on 30 grand a week with a loyalty bonus of 1 million if he seen his contract out with us so he could afford to sit tight. doubt celtic would ever sanction that kind of deal again.

It's all looking very optimistic that this seems to be a priority. Ditch the duds and bring in some gems. Don't think anyone could ask for more. It's panning out ok so far.

Hi Ed, Hope you are well.

Just catching up on all the news and results. Very happy with the players that were released never an easy thing to get rid of dead wood but we have done it quickly and hopefully another 3 or 4 yet. Amazed we managed to sign Dembele but i'm also impressed that we have gone out and signed the young lad from Dunfermline and also the young Irish lad.

Just a quick question Ed is Janko still wanting to leave?

And just to finish i think Allan is going to flourish under Rodgers. Its good to read so many players are happy with the training etc. HH.

{Ed007's Note - It's looking like Janko is a lot more settled in Glasgow now. He asked to go out on loan in January RD told him to get himself fit and see how he felt in the summer, staff felt his injury problems (which were blamed on the change of intensity in our training to Man Utd's) were playing a major part in his unhappiness and feelings of loneliness.}

04 Jul 2016 15:14:39
Cheers Ed, I think he can be a decent player for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I know a lot of Man Utd fans thought highly of Janko and were disappointed, and surprised, that he left on a permanent deal.}

04 Jul 2016 16:30:31
I. Would imagine any young player injured would feel very lonely and unloved at a new club. Once playing I think he would see his surrounds in a new light .
Janko has very impressive speed and I think Rodgers will be able to put his speed to good use.

04 Jul 2016 16:32:29
Interesting that about intensity being higher than Utd's. Perhaps our players were a little overworked?

04 Jul 2016 17:22:35
He has looked a good player most of the games I've saw him play his pace is blistering n with a run of games could well be the man at rb with it on the other side n big Erik n a fit jozo that's a strong defence as 4 training being more intense I think that's the it should be your training 2 earn that jersey n anybody who didn't want 2 put in the work, that any true Celtic fan would do in a heartbeat and for no money, well those players aren't needed or wanted at the greatest football club in the world the mighty Glasgow Celtic hail hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2016 17:28:27
Also meant to say if big jozo isn't fit or can't get fit I'd like 2 c lustig at centre back think he's more than capable n would make a good pairing with big Erik hail hail.

If players felt the intensity was high last season under R D, they have a big surprise this year under B R they will experience intensity of an even higher level . From day one it seems that B R has held two intense daily sessions . B Rodgers knows as the season proceeds that with 3 matches per week he needs to have everyone up fit and ready for the tough early mid- season . Celtic will hope to play 42 games before year-end.

04 Jul 2016 22:42:45
Think the jump in intensity came because most of his training at Utd was with the development squad was it not jimtim?

Heard Rodgers is triggering the £1 million release clause in Chris Gunters contract at reading, would be decent signing. Also, black away kit has been released on the website and it looks tidy! HH.

Gunter would be a good signing, do not like the away kit at all however.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jul 2016 16:33:49
I like what I see about Gunter, good no frills right back .
The away kit neither impresses nor disappoints me as far as I am aware Celtic are the team in the green hoops first and foremost, no other strip excites me .

The real tests are still to come so far so good. Looking better in defence even though we have so many young players in there. The Wolfsburg, Leicester, Barcalona and Inter Milan games will give a greater indication of where we are. Brilliant youth buys so far, now we need a couple of experienced players to help the youth develop. Still need to clearout a lot of dross.

The European ties will be a better judge than friendlies against 2nd string teams playing each other trying not to be competitive.

Just seen on that celtic are going to trigger Chris Gunter's release clause of 1 million Rodgers has been impressed with him at the euros and wants him in quick you seen this Ed?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I doubt it's true because the story is absolute garbage. Release clauses are only legal in the country of origin - only an English club can trigger Gunter's so Reading would be perfectly within their rights to ask us for £2-3 million, even £5 million if they want.

This is a horribly complex area not least because they are written under individual national laws.

The "buy out" clause is legally binding between a club and a player. The "buy out" is effectively what it says - a means for the player to buy himself out of the contract. As an example, if a player wishes to buy himself out of a contract, he pays the applicable FA (on behalf of the club) the amount of the "buy out" clause effectively becoming a free agent. The problem is that in most cases a player would need to obtain that money from the buying club - and this is fraught with issues regarding "tapping up" and, of course, taxation as it can be seen as income for the player and would therefore be subject to income tax. There was a test case about the taxation issue in Spain about three years ago. So "buy out" clauses are very rare.

A "release clause" is far more common in that it gives a figure that the club would accept for the sale of a player to another club - but it is not legally binding except where both parties are in the same country (for the sake of argument I should say that Spain and Portugal count as the same country as do England and Wales) for legal purposes. These are normally unreasonably high figures (Messi at Barcelona for example) introduced to act as a deterrent for hostile bids - and even then the club could easily block a move. However, if a club does agree to match a release clause then the selling club would be obliged to ask the player if he is interested - there is no obligation on the player to make a move. For interested clubs outside of the country the selling club may use it as a guide but are under obligation to accept a bid.

There is then the becoming popular "termination clause" which is binding between the player and the club and if met would see an offer from anywhere accepted and the player given the opportunity to make a call on a move. This overcomes the issues associated with "buy out" clauses as the money would be paid by one club to another.}

Never knew that ed. As they say you learn something new everyday

Perhaps the media have ran out of names under the brendan Rodgers file and moving onto Chris Davies

You think we could be going 3 at the back with wing backs this year. Shaping up to look like this if we sign Duffy/ toure.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's one of the many plusses of having Ed002 around mate. I'm not a big fan of 3 at the back, it leaves you open to fast counters and long diagonal balls into the FB position. And Craig Gordon's decision making is bad enough withouf him worrying about 3 CBs. Patrick Roberts would be a disaster as a wingback and I'm not convinced KT would be much better, I've always felt it's a position created for players not defensively good enough to be a FB or players not skillfull or intelligent enough to be a winger.
I've seen this mentioned on a few sites so I guess one of the teams at the Euros has been playing it? I'll guess it's the Italians.}

04 Jul 2016 10:10:03
Yea a few teams from what I have saw have been playing the 3. Going by the first pre season game I think the full backs will be getting forward a lot this season with the more defensive midfielder dropping in to form that 3 at the back or slightly in front

Really surprised we haven't been linked with a goalkeeper just yet. Suppose Gordon hadn't had that opportunity to palm it out to the striker hovering in the 6 yard box yet tho.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jul 2016 16:44:36
I would prefer to watch the three at the back in action before I would either write it off as disastrous or claim it to be an answer to our prayers .
I am sure B R isn't going to waste time on experimenting on three at the back if he hasn't the personnel to have some chance of it working.
