Any chat on sell on % in Matthews deal?

Would have been silly not to have mate especially when you see the likes of clyne going for £10 million in last year of there contract

06 Jul 2015 11:40:40
completely agree Campsie I think Matthews will do well for himself in EPL and with some of the prices going on down there. may be a good bit more we make when all is said than done!

Ed what are our chance's of signing Vossen as a bid from Burnley is rejected no disrespect to Ciftci but I think the biggest majority of us Celtic fans want Vossen his strike rate in Europe is respectable surely this is what we should be aiming for and for the price of 2 million it's a steal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The longer it's dragging on with Vossen the less I think we have a chance of signing him.}

04 Jul 2015 19:18:13
Can't help but thinking this vossen character is becoming a better player in some people's eyes through not signing. I have doubts over signing him the scepovic deal dragged on last season he came with the same excitement and for one reason or another never cut it. Most saying a lack of effort being one of the main reasons.could be spiteful but me personally I would move onto another target that doesn't drag his heals in when signing

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jul 2015 20:14:27
It's not celtics fault our bid has been accepted the player is waiting to hear all offers

04 Jul 2015 20:30:39
Vossen is hardly a character! Lol
There was no excitement with scepovic singing on it was more wonder? And we're still wondering!

Jelle Vossen, Tim Matavs, Tom De Sutter to name 3!
Are players that could and would have made a difference?!
Being priced out the market isn't their fault nor Celtics!
What was our fault was going for the cheaper options.
Balde, pukki and tryin to find a gem lol

Vossen is still the same players as 2 seasons ago, score goals for fun In this league for almost the same kind of money as Cifti lol
It's a no brainer

Funny when you get folk that don't follow fitba know it all!

I agree that we should move on. The guy talked up a move to Celtic about 3 weeks ago and if we have had a bid accepted by Genk I can't see what the issue is or why he won't come to at least discuss terms. If he is using our name to attract other offers then we should withdraw the bid and move onto the next target. I don't want Ciftci personally but at least he appears interested in joining us.

Anybody used the Zebra finance for season tickets, how much more does this cost from paying them outright?

I read somewhere its a one off fee and others its interest per month.

Anybody know which one is true?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Jul 2015 20:26:40
I usually pay cash for my ST. but it will be along the lines of. St is 600 for talking sake so the monthly payment on that would be 50.00 pounds a month. So with interest it will be something like 53 or 56 pounds a month.

My defence woes are looking likely to stay for another season

Mrs E its a problem I think Ronny knows needs addressed quickly. With the number of defenders we have been linked with for all positions, its evident Ronny wants an overhaul.

Hopefully players we bring in will strenghten defence. Glad we never signed Wilson. An average player who in my opinion, mulgrew is better at CB

Agree2 Disagree1

04 Jul 2015 15:03:11
Just for the European games at least, we are needing a defender that can defend. What we have is *probably* fine domestically, although you could argue our defending cost us the treble last season?

I know it's only a friendly blah blah but surely it's also about players proving themselves to the Manager as well and 5 goals never bodes well with me.

Agree DN, Wilson wasn't for me either. Going from playing in the Scottish championship to CL qualifiers?

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Jul 2015 16:31:54
Mrs E we do not need to panic just yet, these friendlies are there to get the players fitness back up and in the case of Lustig and Forrest, maybe Boerighter give them game time and improve their fitness and confidence after injuries. Also Boyata needs time to fit in defensively, I was at game today and I counted about 8 substitions for us which had a negative impact on us, but it was done to give as many players as possible some game time, I expect the same next week against Sociedad lots of changes and substitutions, but as long as we get it right for Stjarnan game it will all be worthwhile. When qualifiers start I am certain we will be ready, better losing now in a pre season game than when it really matters.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jul 2015 17:03:10
I know many fans write-off pre season games - especially defeats (where we lose a bucket of goals); but I remember when Celtic teams hit the ground running every season and used them to sharpen their skills and prove a point of intent. Obviously we do not the abundance of quality of years gone by but we all have pride in our unique and special club and expect the players to show the same.
In these days of CL qualifiers in July it is imperative to be fully prepared physically and mentally with priority given to positions that obviously need improvement or players that need replacing.
Denayer was a huge stand-out last season and has to be at least matched in class and composure.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2015 17:58:12
I think we still need at least a gk, 2 cb's and a left back to complete our defence.

Boyata is going to end up being a poor, poor mans Ambrose. Just wait a few months.

Agree0 Disagree4

04 Jul 2015 18:29:05
I think the main problem will be when VVD leaves! Boyata needs time to settle and ambrose needs left right back in the dressing room!

Watching this game and its been totally shambolic at the back yeah its a friendly and all about fitness but its been awful to watch suppose mulgrew playing what u expect

Try blaming the players that made the mistakes rather than jump on the easy fall guy for some celtic fans

04 Jul 2015 15:08:18
Jim 3 goals where mulgrew fault I'm no his biggest fan but I'm honest to say if he is good or not and he isn't and for me he suits central midfield not defence

Picking out one player is unfair and smacks of picking on the usual scapegoat for some. For me boyata sold the first and izzy the second and the third was largely brought on by fasans clearance and I struggled to see clearly the 4/5th goals as I was at the other end but I'm not sure if Charlie was on the pitch for 4th and he certainly wasn't on for the fifth.

Honestly Charlie Mulgrew is hopeless, he constantly looses position or causes a goal! Please sell him now RD.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

04 Jul 2015 13:48:33
Totally agree 'Sack the Board' . If RD had a COO on his Team Sheet for today he'd have been better aff choosing it than Mulgrew . His constant ball-watching and immobility in a defensive role is scandalous!!!

Totally agree . Due to his ball-watching and total lack of activity in defense(apart from the penalty he gave away) - he cost us THREE (3) Goals today .

Charlie is no more than a squad player, he gets bullied by smaller players and his passing is God awful. Can't hit a dead ball, I'm not sure why he is even near the team. Nice guy I'm sure but awful football player.

Sorry ed just subscibed to this site what can you honestly see before champions league qualifiers start we know we are losing van dijk(hope that spelling is right) so we need an experianed cb and a striker midfield is fine only going to get better actually

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site Garry. I don't think VvD will leave before CL qualifiers are over and done with and even then I think Lustig/Boyata will be our first choice CBs with Mulgrew, Ambrose and Eoghan O'Connell as back up. I'll be amazed if a striker isn't brought in before the later qualifiers.}

04 Jul 2015 12:08:24
Don't know him from Adam but new Man City signing Emes Unal has a sensational scoring record, should we capitalise on our good links with another loan deal?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Jul 2015 12:43:30
Hasn't replicated it for the senior side but 182 in 110 for Bursaspor reserves is pretty phenomenal, for that age at any level. For £2m too. We should have been on that before City.

Let's hope we start looking wider for new players, when you think of the talent that Red Bull Saltzburg they had a lot of impressive players, - surely we could entice some of their squad, can't believe our sights are on Dundee Utd and Vossen who was loaned out to boro, is that really the level of our ambition.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

04 Jul 2015 07:36:56
We've tried to cast a wide net for strikers in the past few years and failed badly! We've even had a striker from La Liga (Miku) and the Bundesliga (Pukki) who you'd think would stroll it in Scotland but didn't. Vossen had a good season at Boro last year and Ciftci can do a job as a lone striker as he's proved against us. Buying a striker who knows the british game is a smart move for us as you know they can handle the physical side. I'd be happy to sign either of these players, with Ciftci looking most likely

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2015 10:13:15
Difference being with Red Bull Saltzburg - we saw the team and talent. We've now developed a reputation as a club that can develop players and give them a springboard into the EPL, the richest (not the best) league in the World. Austria, Poland, etc. have a better standard of football, and the wages are not going to break the bank, we're not marketing the club well enough, or the potential opportunities that players can achieve by playing with us for 2 seasons proving their worth and we sell them on. Ciftci, will scores, don't deny that , will he make an impact in Europe? Very unlikely, plus when you factor in the baggage - he ain't worth it.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Jul 2015 12:03:24
I notice Derby are rebuilding their team and wondered if anyone thought we should try for Johnny Russell?
Obviously, we are being linked with Ciftci, but United will not want to appear to be our 'feeder club' and would prefer to sell to another team.
Incidentally, I think it's pretty poor that we have not been able to find and develop a striker at youth level in our own club for far too long; we should be doing much, much better with the facilities and resources available.
