For those not understanding. Danny Macgrain = defensive full back who overlapped a lot. Agathe essentially a winger slotting back = not as good defensively. In big games the FB needs to be able to defend. Hayes and Elhamed outstanding at eye brix. Frimpong and Bollingoli not so good at CP. Bauer not seen much agreed but can't break in so that tells its own story. Boli not near good enough and an expensive mistake. don't take offence i mean not understanding my point as opposed to not understanding the facts.

Hayes “outstanding” at Ibrox?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2020 01:49:48
Hayes got 10 mins st Ibrox. He was also awful in the cup final. If Elhamed was fit he would have started the last two derby games before Frimpong.

05 Jan 2020 11:20:53
Why do people keep trying to pedal the myths that hayes
1) played left back at ibrox
2) he was out standing at ibrox.

The truth is he played about 10 minutes. He did score a goal but even that was almost messed up.

Baz can you explain how he was outstanding at ibrox?

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jan 2020 11:38:49
Kev why do you keep on saying Hayes nearly messed up the goal he scored at Ibrox. The guy scored for crying out loud didn’t he and in doing so lived out a childhood dream that we’ve all had of bagging the winner at Ibrox. I get that you don’t rate him as a player but can’t understand why you keep referring to his “goal that he almost messed up” to use against him.

Will the board help or duck? This is what the fans fear this transfer window is open let's hope they give lennon what he needs striker and a good midfielder anything else is a bonus.

Who will drop out to accommodate this 'good midfielder'? .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Jockey you really need to start posting from just one account mate, folk get banned for running multiple accounts unless there's a technical hitch and then Ed033 should be able to sort it out.}

05 Jan 2020 11:24:01
Aindoh if we always though of who would drop out as you put it wed never sign any players.
Would signing a good midfielder help the squad? Ofcourse it would.

We need some one who is tactically aware on the management team in the dugout more than any player IMO.

What Celtic need is a poacher striker like Louis Moult at Preston could even swap Sinky kill 2 birds with one stone.

Look JJ that security guard clearly didn't know the magnitude of greatness he was in the presence of when he stopped the 80year old sir rod getting into a kids new year's party. Sir rod was well within his sirly rights to smite the outlandish and disrespectful yank. socking it to the man again. If his music wasn't so crap and his attitude so grandiose that'd be rock star behaviour but he's a tube.

And he has a seat for life apparently, for what? . Promotes our club? . He needs better advisors, and stay in if he's pished. That's what I do, and I've never been in the papers once🤣🤣🤣.

I meant that frimpong more an agathe type essentially a winger but not solid defensively. The away game at eye brix showed the value of elhamed. Solid defensively and tidy with the ball but doesn't charge forward with gay abandon.

I don’t think anyone is getting it the problem is we are playing a 4141 brown drops inbetween the centre backs every time and Christie drops into middle, I don’t Care what the tv or the club say the formation is a 4141 has been since Lennon took over its horrible and doesn’t work, formation needs attention more than new personnel imo.

With the players we have at our disposal just now this is the line up I'd be using

In a r
4-3-3 that can fall into a 4-5-1

Forster

Boli/ taylor
Ajer
Julian
Eh hammed

Brown
Ntcham
McGregor

Christie
Eddy
Forrest.

Bench would be

Bain/ Gordon
Bitton
Frimpong
Sinclair
Micky
Griffiths.

04 Jan 2020 17:37:49
I’d like to see us try a 3-5-2. Martin O’Neil style

Forster

Elhamed
Julien
Ajer

Frimpong (Wing back)
Brown
Christie
McGregor
Taylor (Wing Back)

Edouard
Griff/ Sporar/ AN other.

Totally agree that's a tough team.
When we have the attacking full backs how many goals to we actually get not many.
That's why I say Taylor in front of him boli
And Bauer in front of him moi.

Some big earners need moved on.
Sinclair - 500k

Others also need moved on.

I've seen rumours that Bayo could be used as part of any deal for Sporar.

Why would Sinclair move now without a big payoff?
He can sign a pre and get a bigger signing on fee as well as all his wages.

Youd be incredibly lucky to get anything for the likes of kouassi or hendry.

Morgan would be another that would probably need to be given a wedge to move as he's never getting the same wages with anyone else he does with us.

I heard the Snyde guys talking about the game in hand Rangers have got and that, if they get past Braga, they could need to wait until March before they can eventually play it. Obviously that means if we both keep winning they have the edge that they can overtake us but if we keep winning and they slip up just once, it means they could have a 2 month wait to play a game they must win to keep hold of our coat tails. So it works both ways and the fact things can change so quickly shows the doom, gloom and panic has been OTT and it's all very much still to play for.

Would just like to see how many fellow hoops agree/ disagree with this.

I personally think after the game last week it's got to a point where enough is enough and a change of system/ players is needed. As bad it kills me to say it, of the past 5 games since Lennon has been back they've outplayed us in 4 of those and definetely have found a way to play through us. The only game we had pass marks was the 2-0 at ibrox and even at that Kent and morelos didn't even start that game. It's got to a point now where we've been absolutely rank rotten and are getting played right through and too many players are going missing.
I'm not buying the fact that the Forrests and christies have been unbelievable or whatever, yes they've done well, but they definetely go missing when we play them, especially Forrest.

For that reason alone and how poor we've been against them I honestly think we should switch it to 3 at the back and play frimpong right wing back with elhamed ajer and jullien at the back. This would give us far more solidity while providing the width of the fullback s to get up and down when required.

As much as I love edouard he's totally isolated when the rest of the midfield are crap so my honest suggestion is to play 2 up top to give them more to think about when we play them and pack the centre of the park so we can win those battles, that's exactly what they've managed to do to us and it's time we step up and do the same.

Thoughts?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's a no from me and it's not just against them that we struggle to really impose ourselves on the game imo. I'd prefer we switched to a 4-3-3 and let McGregor control the tempo we play at and really influence the game. Allowing Brown to be the main playmaker is a major problem.}

We played 433 for a while last season and didn't look any better. I agree though that McGregor should play in the deep lying playmaker role. Brown has his uses playing a killer pass isn't one if them.

If every supporter was totally honest, they would agree with your assessment of recent Sevco games, where we have been predictably outnumbered and outfought with several of our players bottling it.
It's not easy to admit, but a guy like James Forrest who has scored many, many important goals and performed well in European matches, just becomes invisible - along with usually two or three others - who we would rely on create chances and win us games.
The most frustrating facts (apart from star men going AWOL) are that our 'tactics' and formations have played right into their hands game after game and finally; Sevco are no world-beaters and are very average especially with a striker who can't hurt us.
On paper we have the strongest squad in the country, while they are mostly, an assembled who's - who from the bargain bucket.
Neil Lennon must take some of the responsibility for repeating mistakes and Slippy takes credit for moulding misfits into a consistent unit that knows their roles and steps up to the plate.
We cannot afford to play favourites again and again, who regularly fail to at least compete in these important title deciders and I hope we actually bring in some real quality to shake a few up.

I always laugh when it’s said they played us off the park when Celtic beat them 2-1 with Forrest scoring the winner.
After 60 minutes Sevco had 0 shots at goal.0 shots on target and also 0 corners.
They started playing well after they scored with their first shot at goal in the match, it was their last throw of the dice because they were losing the match and well behind Celtic on points. It’s the least they could try.

Remember Celtic also went down to 10 men due to an injury to Boyata and although Lennon got out of jail because of his terrible substitutions on the day, Celtic still deservedly won the game.

I totally agree with Ed on this. McGregor plays at a faster tempo and Brown slows it down.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Brown's still good at what he does which is breaking up play and harassing & getting in about the opposition but McGregor should be the main man when it comes to dictating our play.
Think back to the Keane/Scholes partnership at Man Utd years ago, Keane won the ball and let Scholes pull the strings.}

Hi Eds, Happy New Year to you and the family and same to the rest of the posters on this site.
A wee question for you, although a bit away yet.
If the same 6 teams at present in the top 6 stay there, then technically we should have 5 home games and the Rangers should have 5 away as games against these teams due to previous fixtures.
Assuming we get 3 at home and 2 away and the Rangers 2 at home and 3 away, does that mean our 2 away games are against teams that finish 5th and 6th and that would be the Rangers home games?
Not sure how it works.
