How about poll - given the choice between either James McLean or Paddy Roberts (permanent signings) who would everyone prefer?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed033's Note -

McLean or Roberts Poll

04 Jan 2018 23:49:16
Paddy all day long. as much as McLean is a Tim. I'd rather sign John McLean from diehard.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - What an absolutely stupid and pointless comparison, McClean and Roberts play in different positions and are completely different types of player. McClean's a more rounded midfielder who plays on the left and Roberts is an out and right winger who has never shown that he can track back and do the defensive work McClean does.
A better question would be should Celtic have signed McClean or Hayes in the summer or should Celtic have bought McClean for £1.5 million in 2015 rather than give Kris Commons a 2 years extension?}

05 Jan 2018 00:53:57
He's not even anywhere close to that good.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - OK then, you're probably best stick to watching films with balding middle aged men wearing a simmit.}

05 Jan 2018 06:49:42
Totally agree ed McLean would walk it up here he's a completely different player as u say to paddy. daft poll imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 09:18:37
Pointless poll as had been said. I'll pass thanks. What really pisses me off though is people taking the boys political beliefs into account and being worried about a PR disaster. What a load of totally politically correct utter pish.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 09:56:49
James Mcclean is a winger/ attacking midfielder that has scored a total of 11 goals in 160 EPL games. so not far off 2 goals a season. He's pish. end of.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - is he that good? He can't shoot, tackle, pass or cross. He has no intelligence nor discipline on the pitch. His sole redeeming feature is that he has pace, unless you count hard work, as he does work hard but personally I think that should be something every player is expected to do as a bare minimum and not be considered a plus point.}

05 Jan 2018 10:46:26
Bhoy wonder my comment didn't relate to his ability or lack of but to the politically correct pish that some of our supporters seem to think is relevant and a concern in terms of being a PR disaster for the club. Different club and supporters from the one I grew up watching if that's the case.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 10:36:50
Just a note:
the idea behind the poll was not a like for like positional comparison.
It was meant to be a straight forward ‘who would you want to see in the hoops (permanently) ?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 07:51:08
Never seen Rab C Nesbitt playing. Might be worth a punt ed?
Oh, you meant the other guy from Die Hard lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 08:04:16
Come on let’s not be having polls on here! Leave that to the tribute act! More ‘polls’ than Lewis Hamilton over there! 🤣🤣🤣 paddy on top form any day of the week but like the other lads say theyr 2 completely different players! Just a question ED is there any actual interest in James Mclean lol!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's all just speculation for now mate. McClean's available and he recently done an interview with the Celtic View about how much he would love to play for us and people are putting 2 + 2 together. It's a possibility but I wouldn't hold my breath on it happening just yet.}

05 Jan 2018 11:48:23
001 while we have your attention I did say to you a while back both VVD and big Fraser would improve your team if your lot would have listened you would have saved yourselves £60 million plus?

PS Have you solved that goal keeping problem yet? :-P (Y)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Fraser Forster is the only keeper in the Prem worse than Mignolet. He still can't move his feet. Crap keeper.

As for VVD I would rather we had signed a better defender, as that is his weakness. Good footballer but not a good defender, when we have plenty of footballers, just a lack of quality defenders.

Not sure why you felt the need to hijack a thread to have this convo. You could have quite easily just started a fresh one and left this one for the discussion of McLean that it should be for, so I will ask Ed007 to delete any further comment on here taking away from the actual discussion it should be for.

Is McLean a European level winger? Not in the slightest, he is a downgrade on the players you currently have, so why bring him in? Makes no sense. Yes he will be good enough to win the SPFL, but you already have those players so it is just stupidity to bring him in. If he was English or Welsh not one person on here would be calling for him to sign. He has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at relegation strugglers, he is not Sinclair who was a regular in a midtable team then struggled at the top team.}

05 Jan 2018 13:51:48
It’s not often I agree with you ed01, but I do with you assessment of McLean, think he is a very average player, trying to work his way to Celtic, just my opinion though, and have been wrong a couple of times before 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 13:58:39
He’s a downgrade on Johnny Hayes?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 14:35:00
Aye fair enough 001, Just not seen you on here for a while and wanted to highlight what I already thought was a good fit for Liverpool

The only keeper worse than Mignolet in the EPL is Gomez @ Watford IMO Danny Ward has to be the best keeper @ Liverpool?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Forster is the worst, at least Gomez can play well at times, he is just incredibly inconsistent. On his day he is sensational, while Forster on his day is below average, he is just a big lump who takes up a lot of the goal.

I like Ward but Klopp doesn't.

As for the rest, no worries, just don't want to get threads taken too far from the actual point of them.}

05 Jan 2018 23:15:40
Klopp won't be at Liverpool for too long, so Ward might be at 'pool soon enough .
Klopp seems to be a nearly man, a couple of wins and just when the fans thinks they are getting somewhere defensive sleeping costs them badly .
I will be amazed if he is still there at Christmas.

Just glad we picked Dubai and not Florida for our winter break poor Sevco Florida is under a wee bit of snow.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

04 Jan 2018 23:53:37
I hope the snow doesn't affect the game between Sevco's first eleven and their opponents youths . It appears Sevco don't understand who this tournament is for .

I see Vidar Riseth, has came out and suggested Ajer has potential to be as good as van Dijk. I've thought that for over a year now. What does everyone else think?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

04 Jan 2018 23:23:51
Different sort of players, Van Dijk is vastly overated, thinks he is has the skill of Bechanbauer, but will get his come uppance, Ajer is potentially a much better player if he keeps his feet on the ground, the best thing about saint Ronnie's time at Celtic might turn out to be his part in bringing Ajer to Parkhead, for as sure as little green apples don't grow in Minneapolis, He didn't do anything else positive.

Agree0 Disagree4

04 Jan 2018 23:57:26
Of course he has, every decent centre half has the potential to be as good as you can get in Europe . Becoming as good is the difficult part and I believe Ajer can be as good and maybe better, if he continues with his attitude and training and living the right life style, there is no limit to what he can achieve.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jan 2018 11:29:46
Bit harsh on Ronny Aindoh. OK the job was probably too big for him but he did a lot of good in my opinion. Not least bring on youngsters like KT and CalMac as well as help the likes of LG hit his potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 11:40:05
Sorry can't have you slagging RD off. It's the board who appointed him to manager when he was coming to be number 2. He still won the double and nearly the treble and left BR with a decent squad. All the infighting affected the players fans and performances. He just lacked the ability to manage the personalities. And the press loved kicking him and the team and some of our fans believe the guff in the press.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 13:33:03
I think people on here are going slightly overboard on ajer. I appreciate he’s young but he’s still learning the position, and the last game he let his man go quite a lot, ducked out of a header that was six yards from goal and he’s hardly the quickest. People will say u don’t need pace but in today’s game u do, or if not great positional sense. He may become decent but I personally think the comments are slightly over egged. In the euro qualifiers he looked like a rabbit in the headlights when the pressure was on, but I appreciate he was part of a poor defensive unit at that point. Maybe he will go and and have a strong partnership with Compper, for me the jury is still out.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2018 01:34:08
Ajer is quick enough for a guy of that height/ build Quinn. Not off the line quick but to be fair to him he could track most if his position was right which is all you can ask for for a cb. I'm prepared to give him a bit of time. He has done more good than bad when he has pulled on the jersey and can only be measured against his peers. different kettle but vvd doubted by some was judged against his peers and his stats were some of the best in the epl. doesn't say much I'll admit but where 50m funny money is common 75 isn't out of context. if vvd has a blinder into 2018 pl cl and wc he may get the move to Spain or Germany. nobody takes the piss out of that.

{Ed007's Note - When post just attract abuse from morons it gets to a point they're best removed. We don't want to lower the tone to the level where the moron can't even address people with their posting name.}

I read an article saying kouassi will be going on loan, do you think this will happen ed and wondered where you all thought would be good for him to go to?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah it looks like he will be going on loan and it's definitely for the best. Young players are always better regularly playing competitive games imo.}

04 Jan 2018 22:57:23
Definetly, I was thinking he could do well in the English championship rather than in the SPL. He’s got ability but just needs the right opportunity to show how good he is . Have you heard of where he might go?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 00:07:00
Kouassi, probably needs a loan for rest of season . One loan period should be sufficient for any youngster around 19-20 as after that he should either be part of the first team squad or loaned out with the idea of moving on .
Christie got plenty of opportunities last season with the Sheep. I cannot understand how B R sanctioned another loan to them unless he thinks Christie won't make it .
Surely if he had any thoughts of Christie playing for Celtic, he could have foreseen the possibility of injuries and loss of form and would have had Christie available this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 10:37:47
I do agree next season Christie has earned a crack at our first team but there are too many variables to say that one 6month loan period is enough for a player and if they are not playing when they return that they should be moved on. We have a lot of CM in our squad and there is still the possibility of McGinn coming in! If we are buying players for the future they may need to be out on loan for 18 months of regular football to be ready to play into our first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 23:32:42
We are not playing in the EPL . We are not Chelsea or Man City, we need value for money . Value for money doesn't include players chasing around after sheep , or for that matter getting coached under the tuterage of elbows Mc Cullagh . As far as I can gather there are plenty of games for our youngsters in Scotland and in Europe without sending them " to learn their trade under Rangers supporting managers or lower league managers . The game has changed since wee Jimmy was loaned out over 55 years ago.
Two players Ager& McGregor has come through to our current team through the loan system . Tierney Ralston Forrest Johnston and Miller have all come through without loan
I just cannot believe that if Christie is ever going to be any way near a first team player, then he would have been very valuable to us in our squad over the last 3/ 4 months .
Our manager has said he really doesn't like training loanees for other managers, surely other managers are the same and don't work as much with the players they have on loan, compared to their own.

Was having a wee thought today after seeing yesterday's league table which I'm delighted to see UJ's near the top of! 😂Forget Sky. Forget BT Sport. Our Live Chat for away games is better than the telly. 👍Never have so many many men talked so much pish for so long long and had such a laugh. Thanks Eds. I wouldn't like to see us all attempting a feckn night out together though! It's actually a better craic than going to the game and I miss it when we're playing at home! PS: I think Ajer is a great prospect fae Norway which is just north of Derry or obviously I wouldn't think so MP? 😂👍☘️.
