Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

After reading that nutcase wee fud's post I had a squint at the dark pages. It is truly laughable how deluded the majority of these guys are.

One seems to think sneaky will turn out to be another Alex Ferguson, seriously! But the staggering thing is how little they seem to know of what's going on at the crumbledome. It would appear that dave king is ready to ride to the rescue any minute, this on the day when rumours abound that Wallace the CEO, is ready for the off after trawling London for money from corporate versions of wonga. the easdales are also mentioned.they will sell their bus company for £100m and pump the cash into sevco! What a state, makes you think about the way we are run eh? maybe they are not so bad at this business thing after all.

I often think of a game I used to play where if u left it alone it still ran but it ran itself into utter destruction. One time I had a platoon of Greek gods attacking my poor villagers whilst my fire brigade fought off a dragon. I look at Ibrox and liken it to that game and wonder if the guy's just forgot about the game and left it running and the little forgotton leperacy ridden dwellers are left just spouting all kinds of rumours to make the kids sleep better at night.
Long may it continue
Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

I had a really good laugh at that post too! The way to make a small fortune out of a football club is to start with a large fortune especially if you're a club in govan!

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately "wee bud" represents the majority not the minority who actually believe this nonsense. seems like the mantra is if we don't say it then it didn't and won't happen. history tell us differently.

Johanson had a really good debut at the weekend there, u could still see a little bit of rust but he was gliding about the park like modric at times. What did u all make of the bhoys first game?

Seen someone down the page a bit talking about Lennon potentially leaving and who would be his replacment, Coyle and Mackay being the two names mentioned in replies. Someone then said that they don't think any of those two could better what Lennon has achieved, which I think is fair comment.

Now, I know Celtic have failed to win a treble in the absence of a challenge from Rangers, which a few have an issue with. But winning a treble is not an easy feat, hence why their have been so few of them over the years. It's also never been a foregone conclusion that if Celtic win 1 or 2 trophies then Rangers will win the other(s) and vice versa. So the fact Rangers aren't there to challenge Celtic only really affects the league title, as unless they draw each other in the cups (which hasn't happened), it's just like any other season.

Lennon has comfortably won 2 league championships (soon to be 3) and has had some memorable European nights in the past 2 years as well. Also look at the money he has gotten for players he identified, signed and improved. They also all seem to love playing for him. I think he has done a very good job for Celtic, often with his hands tied in the transfer market. I have said before that Celtic are a huge club but are stuck in a catch 22 as they have very little room for improvement with the lack of TV money and lack of Old Firm games to attract top signings.

So my question is, is there any manager out there who could really do a better job than Lennon has done? I'm not so sure. I do think he will leave, possibly as soon as this summer, but that will only be to test himself at a higher level week in, week out. Not because he has been deemed a failure or not good enough anymore.

Are u for real?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the OP. Given the parlour state of football in Scotland, the lack of competition to our great team, falling attendances across the board and a largely unattractive product for substantial revenue from tv companies there is a real danger of Scotland becoming a backwater in European terms.

This is a catch 22 as lack of income understandably leads to a lack of investment in the grass roots infrastructure of our game.

I would not blame NL for looking to pastures new. We are the only club in Europe to be bigger than the rest of their league combined and the long term outlook of our great club is bleak unless we get a more competitive league. I fear that won't be in Scotland, but the constraints that bind us to this country and the short sighted SFA mean that in the short to mid term there is nowhere else for us to go.

I see that Bangura has signed a 2 1/2 year deal with a Turkish club, good luck to him.
ED007 we keep hearing of these "mutual consent" deals, did Celtic pay him anything to leave, or, as I suspect, he had this deal lined up but needed out of the Celtic contract. Timalloy

{Ed007's Note - They will come to a mutual agreement over the money owed on the player's contract Timbo.}

I'm really starting to get tired of the moaning from some Celtic fans. "we should have spent big money on a striker", How do you know we didn't try? Players of the calibre we need to improve the squad want big money and come with big transfer fees. Would we be happy if we paid 6m on a player with £30k wages for 3 or 4 years and he turns out rotten? I think some fans need to understand that we are running a business as well as a football club. Right now we have a decent squad with some really good young kids coming through. We are building for the future with the bhoys we have. We will walk the league for the foreseeable future. I think the need to bring in a top class player would be to get bums on seats and to entertain the fans.

My second point is about NL. Would the fans want to see him go? I get the impression from hearing from a few that they would. I wouldn't! I think he's still learning his trade and will get better. Last 16 of the Champions league one year and the group stages the next. Winning leagues titles and breaking records. What more do some fans want?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the problem is that Lenny does not seem to have moved forward tactically. There is also the strange, and sometimes unfair, substitutions he makes which leaves a lot of us shaking our heads.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here buckin here. Some folk just like a moan. These are glory days, enjoy them. We weren't even in the CL for years and years and to do it 2 yeasr in a row with a bigger gap than ever finacnically to other leagues is a superb achievement. And the record in the league with being unbeaten and the clean sheets is remarkable at any level. Yes, I would like maybe one big signing to give us a little more flair but no signing of this is value is guaranteed to do this. Think about the number of average players that cost £6m+. I for one like how we go about our business and live within our means. Perhaps if we could fill out our stadium in possibly our biggest game of the season on Saturday it might make us more competitive but only 30k so far is shocking

Agree0 Disagree0

@green Jhedi I agree that he can be tactically naive at times but as I said he's still learning. But if you look at how we've done in Europe and in the league with the players that we've got I think he's done brilliantly. Plus who exactly is going to come in and do a better job? We're playing at out level, the last 16 is an over achievement for us, we have to be realistic. Then if some other manager comes in the squad gets ripped apart and we're starting again. Na I'd rather stick by Lennon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said marty. I agree with your comment about the game on Sat, you might find that it might be a last minute sell out. Let's hope so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, doing a fine job with resources, Mancini couldn't get into last 16 with the team and money he had at his disposal, the Lenny bashing a needs to stop and if he does walk could throw us back years.

Agree0 Disagree0

The manager has to consider a lot of stuff that we aren't privey to - discipline, niggling injuries etc etc. Not as black and white as we think.

Sometimes I despair. For the game against the sheepies there are LESS than 30k tickets sold. No one can use the lack of competition on this one as they are coming on to a game, and look dangerous as well. The financial argument does not add up either as this game has been coming for weeks, plenty time to stash cash for a ticket.

I have always been sympathetic to the reasons above, but on this occasion they do not work. After what happened to Lenny we should be packing the game out in a show of support for him and the team.

@GJ disappointed to hear of tickets sold, surely with Aberdeen going so well there fans would travel down in big numbers and our fans should turn out to see 2 good teams.
I actually think Aberdeen will score and thus end Forster's record, and I think we may even need a replay if Aberdeen play to their full potential, also if we treat game lightly we could even be out of cup, that would not sit well with Celtic fans with only the league left.

Agree0 Disagree0

@GJ . If you say less than 30,000 tickets have only been sold and I take it that counts Aberdeens 5000 then why don't Celtic guarantee every fan who attends that to retain their stubs and if we get to the final their stub would guarantee a ticket or go into a draw for one . Last year I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the final even though my mates who had been to the same games as myself never even got a sniff of one . Get really pi$$ed off when it comes to finals the amount of people who don't attend games seem to turn up with a final ticket . DH

Agree0 Disagree0

It has happened for years like that DH. Day tripper fans turn up with their half & half scarves and digital cameras just so they can brag at work they were at the game. We have circa 40,000 season ticket holders and this season there must be about 10,000 of those lying unused on a Saturday afternoon for whatever reason (can't they offer it to a relative or friend) but as soon as their is a sniff of a trophy or a big European game they all come out the woodwork, glory hunters who haven't been to a match since the last final are scrambling about for tickets as if they have never missed a game and the sad fact is they usually get them over lads like yourself who turn up every week.

Agree0 Disagree0

@DH: The perfect solution mate. You would have thought Celtic might have thought of it tbh.

04 Feb 2014 17:42:32
well said lads. I wonder how many fans will go in search of say a "celtic vs sevco" ticket if we draw them?

we are playing the 2nd/3rd best team in the country now on saturday and for only 30k tickets sold that is sh!te

but yet somehow if we play that team that is TWO divisions below us everyone will be scrambling for a ticket. I just don't get it

Agree0 Disagree0

@Che, GJ . Celtic would never consider an idea like that because too many of their friends and celebrities would miss out on big games . Another thing is ex players who ply their trade elsewhere and players who even play in England but claim to be celtic orientated can lay their hands on briefs no problem . Seville was the biggest farce ever considering the amount people who I met there and knew they never went near Parkhead but managed to acquire a cup final ticket . DH

{Ed007's Note - You weren't logged in when you sent this DH that's why it has took so long to be posted.}

We have a good system in place with the home ticket scheme. Take your tickets for every home game and semi - final and you would be more or less guaranteed one for the final if we got/get there. The hardcore of around 4-5 thousand who go everywhere should be first in line in my opinion.

As I have been working abroad not been able to catch up with all the gossip on these sites bith CFC and RFC. As some will know I am a self confessed Rangers supporter but like to come on here for the banter.
So my question to all the Celtic fans on here are you happy with your club's transfer dealings, it seems again you are spending on cheap players instead of trying to improve your sqaud for europe.
If my club was in your position, we would be pushing the boat out to sign marquee players and extend the gap even further. we have did it in the past and we will spend big again once we return to the top flight again.
The gap, even just now is not that big and when rangers finally return to our rightful place in the top league we will surely challenge for both the league title and the champions league, we are only about 3 players off that just now. As for your manager it has been proven he does not have the tactical brain for european matches, so my team's superior coaches tactically will win again in the Champions league.
