Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

I think we all agree our goalkeepers need more protection from our defenders.
Celtic have allowed 79 shots on target this season.
When you compare that to Sevco,
They have allowed only 45 shots on target.
It’s about time Celtic started working as a team and play out of this crisis.

The fence around CP has irked me. It's like the board are sending a message along the lines of 'Go fekkkk yourselves and leave us alone', whilst failing to realise that it is us who have put every one of them where they are. Their arrogance is shameful. They have quickly forgotten where they came from. HH.

I think it’s more to do with social distancing.
In the 90s the fans demonstrated outside the front steps and I believe that would’ve been allowed on Sunday if it wasn’t for the times we’re living.
Sunday was an unfortunate experience for all who’s connected to the club but I think having 30 police vans in attendance with police vans lined up a row along with fencing was like a red rag to a bull.
If it wasn’t for the C. V regulations the demonstration would’ve played out peacefully.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - After the police statement tonight I think they might have called for the fence to be put up.}

Many have had their say on the possibility of MON and Keane coming in for the rest of the season. My view is that if we leave things as they are then the league will be over before the next game against the Sevs (I won't refer to it as the Old Firm because that died in 2012) and we'll be lucky to finish in the top 3.
MON and Keane are definitely a good cop cop/ bad cop duo and they couldn't do any worse. Keane will either put a real rocket up their a-holes or he'll piss them all off. What have we got to lose since it's almost gone anyway? HH.

The GB have created the atmosphere at Celtic Park for many years and sometimes have been the only thing worth watching. They have crossed the line for me on occasions but their banner today was 100% spot on and the irony of the reference to an Irishman as an absentee landlord in Scotland can't be lost on anybody with half an understanding of Irish, English, Scottish politics and was right on the money.

But I don't know if it was the green, pink, purple rinse or blue brigade that was responsible for events after the Ross County game. But whoever they were those that crossed the line were self entitled fuds.

If somebody surrounded my house and threw fences, bottles whatever at me and verbally abused me to the extent that I needed to escort my family out of my own house I'd have built a steel fence around it this week as well.

And I wouldn't have divorced the wife no matter what you thought of her or how much you or me didn't like her or how bad her cooking was because I was brought up never to bow to bullying neds no matter the personal cost.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2020 19:09:59
There would be an inevitability about splitting up with the wife.
Why wait when it’s never going to work out.
Everybody in the household would remain upset from the husband, the wife and more importantly the children.
There’s no point cutting your nose off.

The supporters have tried everything for change in the last couple of months.
They did try and be nice about it but the board weren’t listening.
Lennon was called a legend and he was thanked for his efforts and everything else he’s done for our club as both player and manager but a change was needed.
Now the supporters have been forced to try a different kind of pressure.

It’s a hard one.
At least the board can’t be criticised for rushing into getting a new manager because they need to make the correct appointment.
Realistically Dan Petrescu could be a good shout.
He put Cluj on the map by winning the last 3 Romanian titles.
Dan also has good European and International experience as a player and he’s took that experience into management.
He’s the perfect age for a manager who’s learned his trade and also has plenty of mileage in the tank.
He will also be affordable because he’ll earn more money with Celtic.
And his time at Cluj could be coming to an end. Maybe it’s fate.

{Ed007's Note - Petrescu left Cluj a few days ago, Leon.}

04 Dec 2020 21:14:24
As we all know, a manager works with his own team. Is there a realistic possibility that our board would KO Kennedy and Strachan to facilitate Petrescu's guys? Fekk me, at the moment I'd take Ken Dodd and the Diddy Men. HH.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Remember the Club tried to appoint John Kennedy as DOF under Rodgers

04 Dec 2020 21:28:58
Would that have been a good thing Ed007? Is that his real calling instead of being on the coaching staff? Why didn't it happen? I know he's Celtic mad (which in itself shouldn't be a defining factor but is an added bonus) but IF he is part of the problem then he should go. HH.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know if Kennedy could do the job but Rodgers was all for it before he done a bunk and Kennedy became NL's assistant instead.
It's hard to know who would be good DOF, look at Ajax just now - they have Marc Overmars as DOF and Edwin van der Sar is the CEO - but Kennedy has been studying football at different levels for years and impresses people who know more about the game than me.
I can also see Kennedy moving on when time is called on the Lawwell/Lennon project to make his way as a manager in his own right.

04 Dec 2020 18:36:07
As a pair at the back, both have been rubbish at defending but watching last night, Ajer and Bitton carried the ball forward better than calmac and brown. Begs the question again if we really play everyone in their best position.

I have a question regarding teams and players suffering because of the CV rules.
In America in the NFL games are POSTPONED if teams cannot field a strong enough team, why does SPFL insist games must be played with severely weakened teams.
THIS question I have to ask Sevco now have had 2 players breaking CV rules and another first team player more recently having to self isolate because of Cv, how come NO other first team Sevco players have had to self isolate and miss games, are Sevco hiding the truth about who has come into contact with these players.

The suspicions have been there since pre-season and how it seems to miraculously avoid them domestically, in Europe and Internationally is beyond belief. Not for a minute wishing ill-health on anyone, but something seems very odd. The gods are certainly smiling on them, between our shambolic mess, their guaranteed penalties and the amount of their opponents being decimated week-by-week. Spooky stuff.

04 Dec 2020 20:30:39
They can't afford to regularly test their players it wouldn't surprise me if they're avoiding it to cost cut. Not sure how much it costs to test a full squad regularly for this full season maybe Buzz Bomb can come up with the numbers but it won't be cheap.

The Gloves Are Off.
First the club put fences up around The Celtic Way for our game on Sunday.
And then the GB respond by putting up a massive banner calling out DD, Lawwell and Lennon claiming there’s a loss of connection with the Celtic support.
The banner is 100% correct.
It’s been obvious for months we’ve needed a change of manager and our board have showed a lack action with no Plan B.
I’m not going to criticise the GB because if I was 20 years younger,
I would be standing next to them (2m apart) .

They will all miss games against Livingston and you’ve guessed it Sevco.
It’s becoming beyond a joke now.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2020 16:08:26
Buzz Bomb I agree even the C.V. appears to be a Free Masonic conspiracy to stop the 10 but not that long ago we could have fielded an A team and a B team and both would have beaten slippy and the gstrings handsomely.

The gap has closed massively and there’s not a lot between us which is disgraceful we should have been out of site. After 10 the club could have sold Eddy and the kitchen sink and we’d have bothered not a jot because our grins would need to have been surgically removed.

The gap closure is 35% attributable to their improvement and 65% down to our demise. It’s not the C.V.-1690s fault it’s not the refs fault it’s not the linesman’s fault it’s not the MSSMs fault albeit they’re loving it. It’s our fault. We need look no further than home to lay the blame.

The GB warmed them they were gambling with the 10. It remains to be seen but it could prove to be a bet lost.

04 Dec 2020 16:29:02
JFP, I agree.
I just thought Tannadice looked like a tricky place to go too after a trip to Poland.

Also away to Falkirk and Ross County.
I think they would’ve struggled away to a C. V free Dundee United side.

I noticed interesting statistics regarding the goalkeepers.
I mentioned last night Barkas has conceded 40% of all shots on target.
Bain's record is worse,47% of all shots on target have resulted in goals.
Surprisingly Allan McGregor has also conceded 40% of all shots on target.
He's now conceded 11 goals and has only made 16 saves all season.
Jon McLaughlin has been a successful signing so far.
He's kept 9 clean sheets from only 10 games.
He's only conceded 2 goals from 18 shots on target, which is only 11% conceded.
McLaughlin is saving 8 out of every 9 shots.
McGregor has had 9 more shots to save than McLaughlin this season which incredibly all 9 extra shots have resulted in McGregor conceding goals.
In summary the Celtic goalkeepers have both been horrendous.
Also McGregor has received good protection from his defence by only having to deal with 27 shots on target but those statistics suggest his saving % is just as bad as the Celtic goalkeepers.
The success story of the season has been Jon McLaughlin.

Hi Buzz as you like stats then apart from having the worst defensive record in this years Europa Group Stage we are currently 570th out of 576 of the worst defensive record of all teams that have played in the group stages.
We have a game to go and if we concede 3 goals we are jiont 576th, 4 sees us with the worst defensive record ever in the competition.
What is it that DD and PL can't see?

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2020 11:34:21
The bad feeling and disharmony has festered right through the whole dressing room - unhappy malcontents, new signings struggling (with some not even getting a start) , careless mistakes by experienced players - and whether the rumours of Kennedy and Lennon are true or not this farcical pantomime cannot continue. The Board are either blind or stupid if they can't see the problems in front of them.

There's asbig a problem in front of defence as the defence themselves.
Browns 2 yards off pace, cal mac and rogic can't tackle, Christie fouls every other tackle.
Opposing teams are running right through our midfield time and time again.
We don't regain possession after losing ball and front players just aren't holding ball up for runners.
Defence is poor but must be a nightmare playing at the back for celtic just now.

04 Dec 2020 09:00:44
The thing that surprises me is that Lennon doesn't try making a few changes.

04 Dec 2020 13:47:19
That's twice now McGregor has got in the way of a defender while nowhere near the ball and cost us a goal in this group. He's done it in the league also. The drop in his standard this season is the most alarming as he's always been our Mr Consistent.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Don't worry about it, the Celtic Family on social media are concentrating on crucifying Barkas just now but they'll get round to McGregor shortly as they're running out of players, coaches and board members to single out. Taylor, Ajer, Brown, Ntcham, Edouard, Duffy, LG... etc etc etc they've all had it at some point in time. It seems that our defence's terrible performances and leaving the 'keeper exposed is actually the 'keeper's fault, who'd have thought it?
McGregor's form has been as poor as anyone's - if not worse considering as you say he was Mr Consistent - and he's started to give away possession too easily & far too many free-kicks. Maybe he's just needing a rest to get that sharpness back but McGregor is definitely not playing at his best and hasn't been for months. When McGregor plays well, pulling the strings and getting quick passing moves goes we look a totally different team, we're relying on Ajer bringing the ball forward too much when it should be McGregor doing that job.}

04 Dec 2020 15:43:44
Agree Ed while I'm not solely blaming McGregor it's collectively as a team, there's far too many that haven't performed consistently enough but at least last night for a long time it was slightly enjoyable to watch (defending aside) McGregor could do with a rest maybe give Turnbull a few starts to give Callum a chance for his body to recuperate especially with the December games coming thick and fast a firing Callum will benefit the team. Brown's form of late probably hasn't helped him as he's probably being exposed more than he's used too although I thought he had one of his better games this season last night.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If I was Lennon I'd be spending training/coaching sessions on defending crosses & set pieces, make sure that the players know their roles and positions when defending the goal area. That would go a LONG way to sorting out a lot of the defensive frailties we've been showing and Barkas would have some input on where knows himself he'd need covering at set-pieces.}

We have never replaced K. T. where did that money go? Scott Sinclair never replaced.

Much more positive from the team in terms of performance and application but again the defence being terrible and anonymous that's cost us a result.

{Ed007's Note - I think the fact we were 2-0 has got fan's backs up, if AC Milan had went 2-0 up and we ended up losing 4-2 the reaction would have been different. A lot of fans are forgetting that it was AC Milan we were playing, a team sitting top of Serie A who are undefeated in their league and one of the favourites to win the EL.}

04 Dec 2020 15:55:25
Over the 2 games there wasn't too much between us Ed don't you think considering we are struggling and they're flying. Granted their quality showed in the final third along with us giving away sloppy goals but we created enough chances to win both those games had we been defending like we had last season. Just need to be more solid defensively or we won't win many games defending like that. It's the 2nd ball that's killing us you can call it poor but it's slightly unfortunate too but good teams will always punish you for those. Injuries/ CV didn't help first game either. They've cruised to 5 points clear in Serie A already and by the logic of our fans that 5 points has won them Serie A already in December.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We controlled a lot of last nights game and when we were it was a lot more productive than we've seen recently against weaker opposition. Last night we were quite simply beaten by a better team. I honestly think we were worth a point last night.}

04 Dec 2020 20:09:08

I love NL but its clear to me and almost every hoop I speak to he can't turn this around. By all accounts he is a fantastic man manager ala Clough, MON but a master tactician maybe not. If that's his forte he needs players willing to run through a wall for him. Is that happening or is it likely to? Not after Ferenvaros. Our run of form and signings this year have been nothing short of disastrous and if the board think he will turn it around they see something few of us do.
