So when is it possible to win the league now due to tonight's result?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Apr 2018 16:45:50
If us and Aberdeen win all our games, the earliest we can win it is the second game after the split, unless we play Aberdeen in the first game of the split and beat them. In that instance we would win the league first game of the split.

However, it is hard to give a precise date because each set of results could change the date the league is won.

Although I fully expect to win the league, let's keep in mind that it is not yet won as there are 18 points to play for and we are only 10 in front.

Poor show tonight at home again. Thought we were screaming out for wee Roberts and musonda to come on second half. Totally get Griffith's coming on but rather that use two strikers as subs thought we could've brought Roberts and musonda on instead of ntcham and Édouard.

Bottom line is it was another rank rotten performance! Another 2 points chucked away at home, to one of the bottom 6 clubs! Just not good enough IMO! Some of Brendan’s team selection and substitutions are baffling to say the least! A blind man can see that Forrest has done his usual by stop playing after new year! It’s crying out for paddy to get 5 or 6 games on the bounce! And what’s happened to musonda god only knows! And even when we’re crying out for creativity he keeps both on the bench! Yes we’re going to win the title but any hope of doing it in style looks a long way away! We’re practically staggering across the finish line! I can count on one hand the amount of games I’ve watched this season were I’ve thought we’ve played really well in! And the home games have been woeful! So predictable it’s actually scary! It’s the same old every single time! These lads have done us proud the past 2 seasons but we need a major shake up in the transfer window IMO! Far to many have gone stale and need moved on! Honest question for all season ticket holders on here, how many times have u came away from paradise this season domestically and said to urself or mates, what a bloody game that was today? Honest option lads, if I’m out order I’ll take it on the chin!

100% correct. While we'll win the league, hopefully the double treble, there is no getting away from the mediocre performance's especially at home this season. That's 6 out of 9 draws so far this season at home. It's simply not good enough given the talent at our disposal. I'd imagine we payed Chelsea a handsome loan fee plus wages for musonda yet he can't get off the bench, i get Roberts was injured but surely he could've managed 30 mins tonight and another thing that bothers me, commper? This guy was brought in with a view I'd say most believed he'd be a certain starter in our defence yet he's gone AWOL, where is this guy?

Unfortunately - as far as I'm concerned - I don't think BR rates Paddy Roberts as highly as the support and much prefers Forrest - even when he is ineffective or struggling against packed defenses.
Maybe it's because JF is a Celtic player and PR is a loanee, or it may be other factors; but it looks like Roberts face doesn't fit.
It would be a shame as I feel we need like-for-like replacements for Forrest (and Sinclair) when they are off the boil or injured?
As for the game itself:- it is the fourth 0-0 we have had at home because we lack ideas, pace and composure too often, when teams defend in numbers at Celtic Park and we are far too predictable (another reason for getting Roberts on IMO) .
It was also a night where the shooting was abysmal from too many players, who normally know where the goals are.
Another factor could be how much we miss KT's influence and work rate starting attacks and linking up - although to be fair, McGregor did his best and put in a good shift.

Maybe it's because Forrest looked our only threat tonight and if you think he was poor you either didn't watch the game or already made up your mind about him years ago.

Agree1 Disagree3

05 Apr 2018 05:54:33
I don't think Forrest played that well that it kept Roberts on the bench. Forrest has had a great season but he along with a few others last night could easily have been substituted. he should've been replaced by Roberts, not because he was having a shocker but to freshen it up. Wee Roberts has loads more tricks up his sleeve than Forrest ever will and that's what was possibly needed last night to break Dundee down.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 06:59:53
We created enough chances last night for it to finish 4-0, on another day it might have been. Why is it if we don't win against a team fighting for survival individual players get a slagging. I prefer Roberts to Forrest not going to deny that but Forrest had chances and created chances for others so to single him out is quite frankly ridiculous. What happened to win as a team, lose as a team, or in this case draw as a team. Celtic have no given right to win any game without hard work so leave the finger pointing to fans who really do have something to moan about. The league is won having played an insane amount of games since July so how about giving any player who plays some encouragement to see the season out rather than abuse for being part of an 11 that drew.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 07:14:14
Stan who's abusing Forrest? The point people including myself are making is we have great talent on the bench more than capable of coming on and making an impact, Roberts and Forrest just so happen to play the same position so it would be a straight forward swap. No one as far as i can see says Forrest was having a shocker, personally all I'm saying is what we started with wasn't working so why not try change it with 2 guys that could've made a better impact at a time when it was needed?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 07:33:46
We could say that about 90% of games this season Garry hindsight is a good thing. The 11 picked created enough chances to win comfortably so why not see it as 1 more point gained towards 7 in a row rathee than looking for the faults. People do that quite a bit on here. nothing is said after a win yet plenty after a loss, or a draw. We are nearly over the line let's enjoy it.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 08:52:38
Stan you do realise we have a squad on the bench the envy of any team in Scotland who would all be starters elsewhere. The players get praise when they put in good performances against rivals aberdeen, rangers as the performance and result usually merits praise but far too often this season we are putting in crap performances against teams we should be humping. Performances like last night will only encourage rangers that they have a chance in the semi final which they do if we play like that and Brendan makes a mess of substitutions like he did last night.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 09:02:40
Not once did I 'abuse Forrest' or even have a go at him; I simply stated that Roberts is not getting many opportunities these days to influence or change a game even from the bench and I felt he does not have the 'managers eye' - along with the frequent (four scoreless) draws at home where we struggle against well organised, packed defenses with so much of the ball and little penetration/ composure.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 09:33:22
Bottom line is we didn't score v st johnstone, motherwell and now dundee and these 3 are league 1 teams at best so we should be putting these teams away. We struggle unless we score early at home and all these teams know how we play at Celtic park, dundee conceded 4 at home to st johnstone recently and we can't score against them. Hendry was all over the place and the boy caulker who rodgers was keen on played very well. Rodgers has spent over 2 million on eboue and never in team, a million on commper and never in team,3 million for loan with musonda and never in team. Last night was crying out for a player like john mcginn and his powerful runs towards the centre backs. He would be my 1st signing in the summer as he would walk to glasgow to play for us and if the best midfielder in scotland bar none.

10 point lead in the SPL, when you look at the budget of the chasing teams it is simply not good enough. We can’t get on a winning run for love nor money.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 11:55:36
Can’t agree with u Stan! When we play well and win the players get praised, so when we don’t play well and draw or lose people are allowed to say if theyr not happy! No one has abused any player, but if theyr off form or not playing well in a game then of course we’re going to ask for them to be dropped or subbed. and I’ll go back to my original point, how many games at Celtic Park this season have u came away and thought we were brilliant and u were thoroughly entertained? This isn’t just about last nites game, this is has been the norm for most of the season! Yes we’re on for the treble again and maybe it’s because we were spoiled with last seasons performances and going unbeaten, but this seasons games and especially at home have been well under par!

God help Man City today having been thrashed on a budget like theirs 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 13:20:04
Jim what did the Man City team cost last night compared to Liverpools. If cash was the main attribute to a team winning or beating teams who have spent less why are PSG out of the CL.

Anywho not going to spend my afternoon arguing or moaning about a 1-1 draw.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 14:02:30
Let man city deal with themselves I don't care about them. There is growing annoyance at our standard this season Stan with the inability to string a winning run together (think someone mentioned 3 matches our best in league) . From where I see it our performances are akin to Ronny deila final season which wasn't acceptable. I'm not suggesting getting rid of Brendan but we need major investment in this team and prob our coaching staff as our defending is always bombs are material no matter who plays. Ps the game last night wasn't as entertaining as 1-1.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 16:39:51
Not going to disagree with that Jim investment is needed. We need proven quality players to play alongside the many project signings we make.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 19:39:03
The opposing SPL teams have all learned from the experience of losing heavily to us previously and have coached accordingly.
We have stuck with the same style and with the added handicap of lengthy injuries to key players and form lapses, making us less of a threat, easier to nullify and more predictable.
Obviously we have the best squad in the country, but we can't win games on reputation and repetition and need to be slicker, sharper, faster and more determined than ever to get back to our best.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2018 20:24:01
I know there is huge pressure on us to win every game, therefore difficult for BR to go with anything but his tried and tested but i was screaming for the likes of Johnstone to be given more game time before xmas. I think the energy the youngsters bring to the team is infectious and we should be doing it more regularly. Look at KT he is the perfect example. OaB at times i think people do forget the hidious amount of injuries we have had we have not really had a settled 11 all season.

OK He has a huge ego; but he has the talent and technical brilliance to back it up. I vaguely remember the end of the brilliant careers of Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskass in grainy black and white TV, but I've been lucky enough to have seen Pele, Maradonna, Cruyff and Ronaldinho in action and he is right up there with the most gifted.

04 Apr 2018 14:16:17
People talk a lot about not liking him because he has a big ego and loves himself.
But the amount of stuff he does away from football that helps others is amazing.
He paid for loads of stuff to be built in Palestine.
He pays for weans operations and treatment
He is a big supporter of donating blood and all that is just too of iceberg.

Second that, Kev. He's won me round over the years with various good deeds, especially during the last Israeli assault on Gaza. Might even say his ego has seemed to lessen; but he seems genuine enough.

Truly outstanding things the boy can do on the park, and he definitely deserves mentioning with those named above.

& what a goal! Wee kids will be trying overhead kicks for weeks now all over the planet.

He is just one of those who Grates on some people, but a small story, about yrs ago I was in Los Angeles, and attended a sports newspaper dinner, he was there dressed in a white suit and sunglasses, the yanks were actually asking who he was, as the European press people who where there were snapping their lensses at him, you could see that he was a bit macho and put out that the yanks did not really get who he was, but the next morning he was in a pair of shots and trainers and standing outside the Israeli trade centre, as an individual attending a protest against sanctions, this was hardly reported as well, but he stood there for a couple of hrs, no chanting or singing, just in silent protest and said hello to everybody.
