Benfica have lost another one of their top players. Axel Witsel who had previously been linked with Man Utd has signed for Zenit St Pettersburg tonight. Can only be a good thing for or upcoming CL games

With Barca and Benfica topping their leagues it looks like we're gonna struggle against both. But Spartak have lost 3 out of 7 matches in Russia so far, plus we have beaten them before recently and NL presumably knowing everything about their assist leader Aiden McGeady, maybe i'm being naive but i reckon we have a chance in the CL, not expecting anything really and very proud we've made it this far but 3rd place Europa wouldnt be a miracle, we belong here! Tabloids today saying the football authorities set aside 2 days next week to deal with old Rangers, the one with the history, and stripping of titles.
Correctly asking why Green or McCoist would get involved in that? Not any of their business as they don't have anything to do with the old club.
My point is that the SPL is a race to be first after all games are played. In a horse race, if first is disqualified, then second gets the prize. In the Olympics, if a winning athlete is stripped of a title, then silver medalist gets gold. In fact this happens in every sport or competition I can think of. The SPL has a competition each year. A champion is required for each year. There is no good reason why when Rangers are stripped of 5 SPL titles, they are not awarded to second place. No reason whatsoever. Every sport does it.

So you would happily accept the passing over of titles that your club weren't good enough to win?

Put the dirty,tainted,worthless titles on the scrapheap where they belong,only leave an asterix denoting "title stripped from glasgow rangers for cheating" in the history books.seems fair enough to me

TTG, I for one would just be delighted to see a cheating shamefull mob stripped of titles they had to cheat and manipulate to unfairly win against honest/decent teams.

To ttg. celtic were good enough that`s why rangers had to cheat.

If Celtic were good enough how come a Rangers team that consisted of players like Marvin Andrews, Nacho Novo, Bob Malcolm, Chris Burke , Stevie Smith, Alex Rae, Thomas Buffel et al managed to win the league, if Celtic can't beat that team to title then that's Celtic's fault. Celtic were unbeaten against Rangers that season, so explain that?

The next season, Rangers had more or less the exact same team and finished third. It's not exactly cheating to gain an "unfare advantage" is it. Alex McLeish hardly spent a penny at Rangers and still managed to win the league, the players he signed were poor quality.

Personally I would not take the titles (go with the above poster ) . Thinking my next job will be tattoo remover as I can see stars being removed .

TTG...if they are found guilty of having side letters (duel contracts), then the rules were broken. End of story. Keep the titles, strip them, I don't care. The black cloud of cheating will hang forever. Mrs E

The titles themselves are not tainted nor dirty, it's the old cheating Rangers club that's tainted and dirty. Celtic won all 12 SPL titles and Rankers cheated in all 12 but managed to get 5. For the integrity of the competition and honouring all the players in all the SPL teams who played honestly, they should be awarded to the team who genuinely won them. Rangers didn't totally destroy the SPL in those years. Like was said there has to be a credible good reason for not awarding them to the real winners. The titles are clean.
