Last week the plates where spinning, looking at all our reported targets, they are now crashing around hammonds feet.
Yes we have had a good window but even Steve wonder can see our week spot.
Why we have waited so long for lb is just crazy.
I dought anyone coming in now would start in the rangers game.
Hopefully we get some business done.

Taylor should start in The rangers game, which is more than I can say for Brown.

In an ideal world whenever a club wants a new player for a particular position, all the buying club should have to do is call out position and numerous clubs should offer a suitable player .
However it is not an ideal world and in Scotland mischievous sports writers write made up stories about Celtic in talks with various clubs for players . This may or may not be true but many of our fans do believe and cannot understand why position isn’t filled . Celtic know they can buy a player below the standard they want, but apart from shutting a few fans up it won’t solve problem position.
Hopefully before Monday night we get our man.

According to the press? . With everything else going on the world I'm pretty sure wether we get a lb or not is not paramount to our continued success in Scotland. "Steve" has done well in Europe, but just like his beloved Liverpool not much use in the domestic dogfight, last year being an exception for his Liverpool. Its always the same with the new debt free rangers bluff, bluster, capitulation and by Christmas done!

We can't however rely on Rangers crashing and burning. Nice thought but they appear to be better equipped than previously. We on the other hand look ropey at the back and very predictable and lethargic on the attack.

Broony needs to start against them, for his heart, midfield dig and leadership, and he will .

Think this window has been one of our better transfer windows for a while however if we can only make 1 more signing before Monday evening it has to be a LWB. If we can get that sorted, especially if it's a player of proper quality then it will be a fantastic window, however if come Monday evening Celtic roll out for instance the boy from charlton, no disrespect but what an anticlimax that would be, especially as given the fact a signing like that won't cost the earth so should've already been done. I'm hoping the fact it's taking what looks like till the last minute we've a trump card to play and a right good calibre of player in that position is brought in. Have u any info on the LWB position ED?

One of the biggest problems Celtic have is youth players not being given the opportunity to break into the first team. All our players out on loan this year are highly unlikely to make the first team next season, regardless of how they get on.

Current Celtic players on loan X11:

GK Doohan (3rd loan/ Ross County)
CB Hendry (2nd loan/ Oostende)
CB O'Connor (2nd loan/ Tranmere Rovers)
LB Gutman (2nd loan/ Cincinnati)
RB Perez (2nd loan/ North Carolina)
DM McInroy (loaned/ Dunfermline)
CM Robertson (loaned/ Gillingham)
RM Shved (2nd loan/ Mechelen)
LM Bolingoli (loaned/ Basaksehir)
FW Bayo (loaned/ Toulouse)
FW Afolabi (2nd loan/ Dundee)

Subs:
GK Mullen (loaned/ Cove Rangers)
LW Paterson (loaned/ Queen's Park)
FW McGrath (loaned/ Grottu)

Aside from the deadwood like Hendry and Bolingoli, who don't deserve another chance, Robertson has the most potential but it is doubtful he'll make the first team with the current manager's track record. Henderson, O'Connell, and Welsh are still here and have shown flashes of quality, but are nowhere near the first team squad. Dembelle has all but disappeared. Harper has been getting excellent reviews but as a right winger, he has no chance. Our last notible youth player, Mikey Johnston, can't stay fit and is barely referenced. Our current number 3 goalkeeper is another prospect Hazard, but that is meaningless without being given an opportunity (league or early rounds Scottish cup) . Furthermore, he's 22 now and should be ahead of Bain. No one else is coming through. With the additional subs rule this season, this is the time to give youth a chance.

Robertson is well capable of first team football he's treading the same path as the legend that is McGregor.

Mcinroy if he hadn't got injured last season would have made the break through and dunfermline could be great for him and us.

I’ll agree with most of what you say and it’s been a perennial issue going back to when I started watching youth football to the time Derek Whyte was in the Under 18 team. Most of the youngsters just don’t develop beyond youth football and even the decent ones who do develop never get the chance of sustained first team action.

To me, the position regarding Ross Doohan and Conor Hazard is an enigma. I prefer Hazard out of the two of them and he’s done well to be promoted to number 3 keeper yet Doohan is getting games on loan. Hazard is getting Stevie Woods’ coaching experience and learning off Bain and Barkas but is that better than actual playing? Celtic’s young keepers have been excellent but they don’t get games. The dilemma for Lennon here is what happens if he sends Hazard on loan, as he was hoping to do, and who does he get in to replace him? Is Hazard good enough or got the experience to be a number 2? He’s good enough but not got the experience.

Scott Robertson will make it – I’ve no doubt about that and so will Cameron Harper. Harper is a main striker but cuts in from the right, a bit like Klimala. This is as much true as Dembele and Edouard who were main strikers and both cut in from the left. I also believe that this current youth squad is the most dynamic I’ve seen for years, yet you’re right about Henderson, O’Connell and Welsh. The latter 2 have the advantage, though, of being in positions where the team is weak so there may be more focus on their development, than say Karamoko and Henderson where their positions are strong.

Agree with everything you said lads. But the main thing for me if the first team players get injured they got a few bounce games with reserved to get up to speed and the reserves would get to play along side there heroes when getting up to speed we don't have that any more.

If we failed to get in a LB or LWB in the next few days do people think we should call O'Connor back from his loan. The guy is a LB and and Irish international.

03 Oct 2020 23:45:22
Managing Celtic is a high pressure job and failure to win the league would mostly like result in the manager being sacked.

With that in mind, put yourself in the managers shoes when it comes to picking the team. Do you pick the experienced guy who is likely the better player right now or do you pick the player with potential who is at a lesser level?

Talking about Stevie Woods, I still can't believe he never went further than Motherwell in his playing career.

He is an outstanding goalkeeper coach, who is a natural at getting the best out of goalkeepers on our books.

If like me you have had a wee moan or three at the way we have played in some games, or debate the formation, starting eleven or issue with subs and the transfer window frustrations; then all you need to do is glance at the MSM page when you log-on and see the sniping, fake news, false phone-in claims and bull from ex-players having a pop, while all things Sevco and 'Slippy' are Heaven-sent.
Then you take a deep breath, remember we are NINE-IN-A-ROW Champions - going for TEN; looking to complete a Quadruple Treble. Within touching distance of table topping; into the EL group stage and are really no that bad a team.

Brother Bobby gave 2 penalties to Hamilton last night for 2 clumsy challenges.
There was not a hand ball in sight.
We will still be watching with interest.

Rangers fans are wanting to know our conspiracy stories now because Madden gave 2 penalties last night.
Both penalties he gave were due to clumsy challenges and not for handballs.
I will be looking to see if Madden will continue to award penalties for a handball when their arms are in a natural position.

Only 2 days of the window left and we have needed a lb/ lwb for over a month now since boli was sent out on loan. We are def weaker on the left side but def stronger almost everywhere else. Our team is lopsided at the moment and this has to be resolved sooner rather than later. The Italian guy has rejected us along with Aston villa. So we need someone in NOW.

It was either pay the money and bring in a player from Charlton last month OR
Wait until the last minute and get an EPL on loan.

03 Oct 2020 12:21:52
dangerous game we are playing with this i can't see us announcing a permanent signing now with how long we take to get deals done so i really hope a decent loan pops up i really do, the danish boy we were linked with looks a right good player but i think he has came out and said he won't be moving just yet.

03 Oct 2020 13:09:34
Still think we will be looking to sell as well; but as long as we cover the wings with quality, then we should be OK.

Celtic always take ages to get deals done. Piss fart around far too much. Been looking for a LB for over a month. Leave it to the last minute as usu.

If all fails getting in a LB or LWB is it worth calling back O'Connor who is a LB and Irish international.

If they weaken by selling Morelos the board believe we will be strong enough to win the league without Edouard.

I would still like Barry Douglas in from Leeds Utd.
His name has not been mentioned for a while. He is experienced, we don't need projects, too much to play for this season.

Loans are good for emergencies only unless they have an obligation to buy at the end. Then I can see a loan deal working. Otherwise its only papering over the cracks and you won't ever have a settled team. We need consistency in our team so we can start playing the football we know we can play instead of all this slow play at the back. I think sometimes we actually bore the other team so much they let us get a goal to make it more interesting lol.

Paper over the cracks with as many quality loan signing as we need to get this seasons league title over the line as far as I'm concerned Marco.

That's Niclas Eliasson joined Birger Meling At Nimes FC in France. How many targets are we going to lose cause of dragging our heels! Not that it's an important season or that 🙄! I serious hope Celtic have something up there sleeve in the next few days! HH.

mate this is one of our best transfer windows in recent memory and you are complaining about it. we have brought in quality and a lot of first team ready players and im sure a lwb will be in for Monday so why are you moaning.

@united Ireland we are moaning as this was a priority position for over a month now. Yes the window has been good that's not up for debate but we have strengthend in places that wasn't a priority. A lb/ lwb is a priority and there is only 2 days left.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Oct 2020 11:24:50
Just because we were linked with them online it doesn't mean we've "missed out" on either. Melling woukd have been an obvious and successful signing though.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Oct 2020 01:52:46
its not as simple as just gone and getting a left back the player has to want to come he has to be the right player and we have to be able to afford the fee and wages.

there were other positions that were more important. and we have brought in duffy and spent nearly 5 mill on a keeper and 5 mill on a striker all quality first team ready players and signed the best young midfielder in Scotland for 3.5 million now the club will be working on the lb positions that will probably be sorted for Monday so you wind your neck in crocodile dundee and stop yer moaning.
