Well done to Stefan and Jason as the celtic players continue to win prizes. Looking forward to playing Aberdeen next week, if we don't take our foot off the gas I expect to beat them by 2 or 3. Hail Hail

ED007 if we do not sign Guidetti, do you think we will recall Balde, Pukki or Fridjonsen? Also looks like Scepovic has poor attitude also, to my eyes only the young lad Fridjonsen has not had a proper chance I would like to see what he can do. As for Guidetti, as you say he is not 100% fit yet, surely a good agent should be advising him to sign a 2 year contract (with Celtic hopefully) work with Delia on his fitness then after 1 year then maybe ask for move, in the meantime he has got fitness back and the club can maybe make a little back in transfer fee.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I can't see any of those three having any future with us.}

03 May 2015 21:36:06
RD will trim the squad down to players that could get into the first team on any given day. Your Balde and Pukki's off this world would not make the first team. I expect at least 6 players to go and 3 or 4 to come in!

i thought dealing with players with atittude was RD's forte,Scepovic has a 4 year contract and he's not realy been given the chance to show what he can do with aprolonged run in the first team,think he might link up well with Griffiths,what are the stats for this season for the players playing main striker,how many were there?,i disagree with RDs chopping and changing the team,for what seams to me no good reason.

I'd say he chops and changes as much for motivation than anything else. Imagine training all the time knowing your not getting into the team unless someone breaks a leg. Also keeps the first choices on their toes. Just my two cents

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2015 10:01:53
I don't think Scepovic really wanted to sign for us and does not seem to have any connection with manager, team mates and supporters alike and will probably be offski in the summer.
Balde and Pukki would also seem to have futures elsewhere and there could be more players leaving from the current squad.
The board backed RD in January with Armstrong and GMS and I would hope they have better quality replacements in mind for any players who are surplus to requirements.

RD sees Scepovic every day in training. If he is not playing it's because he is not good enough. We do however need a striker. Can't see Griffiths making it at CL level. Hopefully we can unload Pukki, Balde etc and free up some cash.

One of the problems seems to be , that Deila doesn't see as much of Scepovic as he would like, as he has a habit of turning up late and sometimes not at all for training . Valse Pukki and Fridjohson will be gone if we can get anyone to take them of our hands . I wouldn't be surprised if Stokes goes as well. Dek and McGeogh . I wonder about Mulgrew and Lustig , are they genuinely injured or do they not want to put in Deila's work .

Delighted for Ronny and the bhoys after a difficult start to the season. Hopefully now we can get a good pre-season, buy wisely (and early!!) and we will have a great chance of making the CL and another shot at the treble.

04 May 2015 18:24:01
Every season , the board thought they were buying wisely but unfortunately many of those who arrived , haven't adopted to the Celtic way , of winning every day we play and some of these may have thought they had made it signing for Celtic. If we can get young players with a hunger for success to match Deila we won't be too far away.

Ed what's your understanding of the Guidetti contract situation? Although he's not featured much in the second half of the season I can't help but feel it would be a great piece of business getting him for no fee albeit I appreciate he would need to sort out his attitude and wage demands would have to be within reason! Don't see us signing as striker on a free transfer of Guidetti's calibre! We all know what he can do on his day and if RD can work with him on his attitude I would like to see him sign a permanent deal

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - People seem convinced that he won't sign a deal with us but for now I'm not so sure. Derby were keen but after their flop yesterday I can't see them following that up but perhaps if McLaren gets the Newcastle job he might fancy taking him there instead. Burnley were keen to sign him to replace Danny Ings - but Guidetti himself wasn't interested in moving there.
All this talk of Marseilles offering him Β£60k a week is bollocks, Marseilles simply can't afford that kind of money, talk about Feyenoord is wide of the mark as well, according to the Dutch side of the deal Guidetti and his agent are ignoring all their attempts to talk to them, whether that's because they simply can't afford anywhere near the kind of deal Guidetti is looking for so he is not wasting time I don't know. Sporting Lisbon have made an initial contact but so far there's nothing really in the story, as far as I know there hasn't been any official talks - yet.
I'd be happy enough if we could sign him, I was delighted we got him on loan and wasn't surprised in the slightest by the start he made but I won't be too disheartened if he leaves, but that could depend on who replaces him in the squad.
If I'm honest I don't see much wrong with his attitude except during the penalty decision in the LC final and that was blown a bit out of proportion. There's nothing wrong with having a bit of a swagger about yourself on the park.
IMO he was expecting to have top clubs from Europe beating down his door with contract offers in January and although officially English teams can't approach him he would have expected to have heard whispers of interest from a higher level than Derby and Burnley.
Although the transfer speculation has obviously weighed heavy on his mind and affected his game I still don't think he is 100% fully fit. He was out of the game for a long time with his illness and he's played 35 games this season - the most he's managed in his career - and didn't do a full pre-season with us after managing only 6 apps for Stoke last season.
If we could sign him up and RD can get him fully fit and fully focused we would have a great striker on our hands, his early season form showed what he is capable of.}

03 May 2015 17:39:57
Ed have marseille not got a transfer embargo anyway? Personally I would rather wave "bon voyage" to Guidetti. That boy that plays with Ado Den Haag Michiel Kramer looks a cracking player. His name only came to my attention last week. Saw videos on youtube and looks exactly what we need

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Not that I know of bud, I'd have heard Ed002 talking about it as one of her exes works for them.}

03 May 2015 18:14:41
ED007 there are more rumours (not sure how true) that Sporting Lisbon are already in talks with his agent and ready to make an offer, but agent is hoping for other european teams to come in, again, going by agent, it is all down to biggest wage offer.

Timalloy sounds legit. Problem with Guidetti is his ego. Thinks he is a better player than he is. Good luck to him if he thinks he is a Β£60k per week player. Done nothing with Stoke City or Burnley.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2015 18:55:48
Of course depending on other activity i'd be happy enough to see him stay.

Think on a free it's not a bad deal.

His form seemed to slump directly when the Marseille rumours started and he entertained the idea. Having listened to RD talk about the way in which he talks and works with players who might have 'issues' then maybe he can get Guidetti focused. We've seen what he can do and if we get him tied down, knowing where he's at then RD will have the task of getting him to replicate that form on a more consistent basis.

For example, if we offload Scepovic + a few other strikers, and ended up with Griffiths, Guidetti on a free and somebody else. Bang on.

see that oldegaard has fallen out with zidane at madrid and is refusing to train as he's meant to,any chance he'll end up at parkhead on loan?

{Ed007's Note - Odegaard was on the Madrid bench for their La Liga match against Almeria in midweek and is expected to make his debut before the end of the season.}

Surely it's impossible to be sure whether we want Guidetti or not . For his form for the first couple of months , we all wanted him signed up and awarded a place on Celtic's list of legends . His form slipped and I think he suffered mentally when the goals dried up . He may have been unfortunate, that his goals drying up co-incided with Deila's hands been very busy as the whole team were beginning to take on board the Deila way and Deila just hadn't time to maybe give him enough one to one attention to get him back mentally and physically . Although he may look a little bit slow and ponderous and isn't among the goals Guidetti has played fairly well linked up the play and created chances . I will be happy either way .

Well done Bhoys, 4 in a row,
Just watching YouTube celtic clips with wee Jay and big sammy, what a bond between a fan and a player, IF he is out of contract I would bring him back [ he never wanted to leave ] to help coach the kids, never the greatest but I think he loved the place and that's what I want people who love it as much as myself

He used to infuriate me time and time again, but on the rare occasion, when he did play to his full potential, he was unstoppable, entertaining and a match winner.
There is no doubt about his love for Celtic and the affection he showed to the support.

Congrats to the whole team, another title under the belt and some nice football along the way.

Hopefully we can build on some good foundations and keep the nucleus of this team together.

Come on Ronny make Paradise a fortress on european games once again.

Season all but done, title in the bag. So which player has surprised you most.

Bitton -- Gordon -- Griffiths or just how well GMS and Armstrong have fitted in??

Believable0 Unbelievable2

03 May 2015 15:00:00
Think the only players that 'surprised' me as such were for the wrong reasons. Namely Guidetti and also Scepovic, Wakaso and was even clinging onto the idea Boerrigter would come good under Deila's system.

Bitton I thought we had a player but yes he has impressed me with the amount he's contributed.

Griffiths again has impressed the way he's applied himself, but again, albeit just domestically, I knew he could do a job at this level. Grabbing hat tricks in Europe would have surprised me.

As for Gordon. No. I'm sorry but despite his 'inspirational' road to recovery I knew we'd gone backwards in the GK position. Capable of some good performances yes, some reaction saves this season have been top drawer, but I feared perhaps his time out may, more than any other position, lead to a reluctance to dive in and stretch himself, an overall rustiness and hesitancy. And at three very notable and important stages of the season it has cost us big time.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2015 17:01:52
For me the stand-outs were :- Johansen, Brown, VVD, Denayer, and Izzy over the whole season and Giffiths, and Bitton who had major contributions.
Gordon and Commons had some great performances, but I think their best days are behind them, while Stokes, Forrest and Scepovic contributed very little over the whole season.
The pair from Dundee United have a great future ahead; while Guidetti, Wakaso and Berget will not be missed.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2015 17:20:52
The chances of us having a striker who will score hat tricks regularly in Europe are remote . Even the TV money bags teams in the EPL find that difficult .
I will be delighted if we sign a striker or two that are arguably better at scoring than Griffiths .
The number of goals scored in Europe or anywhere else by a striker depends to a great degree on the chances made by his team- mates . I expect our striker (s) to have better support in the incoming season than previously , but I still don't expect too many hat-tricks .
