Guys the boss said he would wait and see once the English market had calmed down surely that could mean he will wait until Man City have started pre season to make a proper move for Roberts. He was told he would get a chance in pre season so this is maybe why we haven't made a bid yet. I am hopeful but all I know is that the boss is the man we have to trust as he took our club to a new level last season.

Would love you to be right Hutty but i think the roberts ship has sailed, with the gaffer looking at musonda i get the feeling paddy wants a new challenge, If he dosent return ill remember him fondly and wish him luck wherever he goes, Really enjoyed watching him last season.

I also hope your right Hutty, but had never the impression PR wanted to stay. That said, if City want rid, we could end up his best option.

I see Aberdeen are trying to sign Stevie May for around £400k, I think he could a job for Celtic, if he can get back to early form he showed at St Johnstone.
I realise he will not dislodge Moussa or Griffiths but for that price he would be a good addition to our squad.

Heard it all now.

Or save the £400k and use one of the youngsters. they're better than May anyway.

Had a load of potential but injury has held him back a fair bit. Don't think he's any better than what we have.

I see what your saying Tim, minimal outlay for a third choice striker that's scored goals in this league, But id rather one of the youngsters got the nod.

Cheers Bhoywonder the only positive response, I forgot about all the "experts" on here.
My point was when we signed Sinclair he had not really played in 3 years but Brendan revitalised him, same with Brown, Armstrong etc he got 100% more out of them than Delia, May is still young mid twenties I think, and last season we struggled for replacements when both Mouusa and Griffiths were injured, he would be a decent player in the SPFL and also with his running and aerial strength a good guy to bring off the bench in some games.

I see Aberdeen are leading the way in trying to get talks on changing Scottish Football so games are played between March-November. The Scandinavians have been doing it for years and now Ireland with bigger crowds and a better standard of football being played, Dundalks performances in the CL last season is proof of that. What's everyones thoughts yes or no for March-November? I'm a yes.

the problem with that is when there are big competitions on i. e world cup euro's we will lose players giving sevco an advantage (lol)

I think we definitely need to do something to help our teams with European qualification.

Agree1 Disagree2

03 Jul 2017 19:37:54
Our ambition should be regular last 16, even last 8 participation, certainly Europe after Christmas, but this format would place these games in our pre season. We would need to be well up to speed to compete at that stage. I agree change could be required but March to November, not for me.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't fancy playing 3 CL group matches at the end of a season either. This year for example there's 2 CL fixtures in November and the final round of group matches will be played on 5/6 December. That would be quite a heavy fixture congestion of important games if we were to be playing in the Scottish Cup Final too.
Playing March to November is also shortening the domestic season by 2 months which would mean playing more games in a shorter space of time which would really affect players recovery time and fitness.}

03 Jul 2017 19:55:54
I would only be in favour of summer football if all the other leagues changed as well.
I don't think that we could attract players of any quality if we played matches at that time of the year.
It may benefit Aberdeen, but they are not looking to sign the quality of player that we are.
I think that we have to find a solution to this problem whilst keeping the season as it is, otherwise I think that we will lose our dominance at home, and we would be so much weaker that reaching the second round of qualifying for the CL would be about the best we could hope for.
I think that we should be aiming a bit higher than that.

Have they not made it where it is the individual clubs gather co-efficient point's rather than the country as a whole surely that's helped us enormously.

{Ed007's Note - The changes don't kick in until season 2018/19.}

when do the scandic teams ever do anything in Europe? teams like St Johnston give the league a rid neck with their performances at this stage. happens every year to Scottish teams they are caught cold. its embarrassing and really drags down the league reputation.

Ever do anything? Have a look at FC Copenhagens record in Europe since the 90s.

04 Jul 2017 13:35:25
the nearer we get to 10 in a row the more you'll hear calls for league reconstruction, we might even get a shout to join the lower leagues in england these secret society handshakers will do anything to stop the 10.

Im all for it, better weather conditions for longer, bigger crowds i believe too. Even for the youth football, i watch my boy play over the winter months and some of the lads are just frozen snotters standing still, it puts some off.

Our climate just isn't good enough to play through the winter. Football has changed so much recently, the pitches have to be lush to play the modern game, our pitches are wrecked before christmas. Time to change i feel, a better match day experience for fans too.

@stan petrov 19, Copenhagen record in the 90s is hardly an argument for summer football. Steaua Bucharest had a great record in the 80s why don't we introducing communism.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 14:00:07
If you read what I said it says from the 90s. Have a look at their stats in UEFA Cup and Champions League from then until now before you state they have done nothing in European football.

Communism? What you on about what comparison has that got to do with wanting to introduce football to a time of year when there is better better weather like that of other countries.

aye mate there records amazing won the league once then got humped by Ac Milan 7 nil. let's build our model on that. what are you smoking stan? wiki even had the headline Years of underachievement for 95 on words lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 15:48:18
Well if drawing with Barcelona, Chelsea, Juventus, Club Brugge, Porto, Leicester etc is regarded as underachievement i don't know what else they have to do in CL coming from one of the so called smaller Leagues in Europe like ourselves. Anywho i'll have whatever you are smoking because its clearly so strong it makes the mind appreciate the wind and rain more.

04 Jul 2017 16:10:38
a few draws over 27 years are you for real?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2017 16:44:36
Who cares if its from the 90s or 3 years ago you made the point the Scandinavian teams have done nothing in Europe. let's go back to last year then Copenhagen knocking out Astra then Apoel Nikosia in the Qualifying then drawing with Leicester the Champions of England, drawing with Porto the Champions of Portugal. Thrashing Club Brugge the Champions of Belgium 4-0 in the League is doing nothing is it, I take it unless you win a European tournament its failure in your eyes. Anywho my initial point was regarding other Countries playing throughout the Summer yet still being able to compete in Europe. As proven for many years it works and some are all for it, others are not.

If we continue to have a strong Scottish presence in the team, the advantage will be reduced 😂.
