Ed could you put a poll up for me, and the question is.

Is Timothy Weah the Messiah?

1. Praise him, Weah not worthy 🙏
2. No, he's a very naughty bhoy, no one on Earth could possibly have such a positive outlook on life.

{Ed007's Note - You reckon? I suppose if needs must but I'd have him sitting in the house.}

03 Feb 2019 23:08:13
Ad rather that 2 ed but maintaining our form just now is more important to me than anything else right now.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 23:16:19
I suppose 'needs must' but he is usually very jittery after a lay-off and takes a few games to get going. I'm sure Broony will cover him.

is there anyway you could help with finding out if we have sold our allocation for the Valencia away game? Valencia have issued a statement saying that tickets will be available, 2 nominated per person, but they also say that anybody who is trying to access the home stands who is identified as a non Valencia fan shall be ejected, very complicated for me to understand. Have you seen the statement? Can you make any sense of it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2019 13:20:14
I was confused by that too. It says you can't buy online in advance and that you can only buy them in person from their ticket office, but the name on the ticket must match yours? Clear as mud. I've never been to a Euro away, but if I thought I could just get a ticket over there then I'd be very tempted.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 13:23:28
Mal Hopefully that statement is just for uefa's benefit. If it’s not a sell out which I doubt it will be in their end I’m sure they will sell tickets.

Talking about biased referees, i received this today from a Rangers fan.
TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY - .
" Rangers issue a hands off warning to all clubs interested in John Beaton, Bobby Madden, Willie Collum, , Douglas Ross and Andrew Dallas, all of whom are vital to their title challenge "
#HonestMistakes.
Anyone any thoughts?

Having watched Sportscene tonight and saw their "penalties" compared to our Burke one whci was not given.
It is a JOKE not one of their penalties came close to the tackle that wiped out Burke.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 22:38:31
Burke's wasn't a penalty Tim, the St Johnstone defender clearly got a touch on the ball. Could possibly of had a penalty for the foul on Christie just before Edouard got Injured. On Edouard's injury I thought it was accidental, the St Johnstone defender got the ball but it was the follow through that caught Eddy.

Having saw their penalties, the first was a stonewaller no doubt. The second was a dive and Dallas was conned. The third was just outside the box and to be fair to Dallas he originally gave a free kick and it was the linesman that called it a penalty. The fourth was clearly outside the box.

On another note I was impressed with Zander Clark looks a decent keeper. Would be a decent back up/ challenge to Bain. Most saves and clean sheets in the league this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 23:23:07
Sorry disagree with tackle on Eddy, it was reckless with studs showing. It's a foul possibly even red but definitely a yellow regardless of intent. Also think challenge on Burke was ball played through man which is also a foul on a clear goal scoring opportunity so it's a penalty and a red for me. The tackles going unpunished on our players is past disgraceful. A message has been sent to all teams who play us. It's ok to kick our players and dive yourself if challenged.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 09:03:04
malkybhoy. how refreshing to see a tic fan without green googles

the burke one he won ball, edourds injury is just unlucky as its a forceful tackle but not a foul, the christie one i can see being given more often than not

as for our pens
1. stonewaller
2. very soft but can see why given although defoe owned up
3. its a close call, def a handball but could have been given as free kick any othe day
4. foul starts outside box but continues into the area so ref has every right to gvie pen according to the laws of game

biggest problem was st mirren players giving the ref a descicon to make with some stupid tackles.

Nothing annoys me more than someone forming an opinion with blue/ green tinted specs on👍.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 10:55:13
@Malkybhoy nothing annoys me more than a sychophant trying to suck up.
Be honest, if the Burke tackle was on Morelos, we all know it would havwe resulted in a penalty.
It is guys like you that give the cheats an "out"

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 11:43:38
Bit ironic malky you've gave a thumbs up to a guy forming his opinion with red blue n white specs with orange lenses in them.

Sycophant? Who am I trying to suck up to and what advantage will I gain by doing so? Why don't you just do what your good at and posts fantasy stories about your fantasy friends and a talking suit😂😂😂 leave the constructive debating to the grown ups👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 12:15:09
Dasa77 there is nothing about alwayscheated's posts that suggests he has his "red, blue and white specs with orange lenses in them" on or maybe you are unawre of the correct definition of the word " ironic"👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 13:24:28
Intent does not matter when it comes to fouls. When determining what action to take the referee has to determine if the challenge was careless (no caution) , reckless (yellow card) or excessive force (red card) .

Contact is also irrelevant as a player can slide in with excessive force but fail to make contact. When that happens it is still a red card for using excessive force.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 13:27:52
thought if went into a tackle with the studs shown it was a foul if so then the tackle that got eddy was a penalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 19:45:15
Read a good piece on how Kolo Toure helps players settle coaches them etc I honestly think he's been one of brendan Rodgers best signings since he joined the big man seems to so professional the way he goes about things he says to Weah today this is your chance take it and Bhoy did he time to really turn it on now Celtic let's go 🍀.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 19:02:55
The more you see the challenges on Christie and eddy the worse they get Ryan gets completely wiped out and the challenge on eddy is a karate kick what did Gollum see.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 19:32:21
If this keeps up Edouard might want away many injuries does this young Bhoy have to get from reckless tackles before his career could be ended the refs just do not give a monkeys about the well being of our players it actually saddens me to be honest how much it’s hit home how corrupt Scottish football is. Ps please speak up Celtic.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Feb 2019 18:48:26
I read on the Celtic website that Griff and KT were back in training, while Ntcham would resume next week. Haven't heard anything on Boyata? Anyway, just as we seem close to getting players back, the injury hoodoo strikes again with Benkovic, Rogic and now Forrest and Eddie.
The big striker has now been hurt by two horrible, illegal tackles that both referees neither gave a card or indeed awarded a foul.
KT, Broony and others have been targeted all season without any protection or retribution and yet I think today was our fourth red card of the season? Incredible!
I know we have a large and talented squad, but I really think we should be challenging the establishment full-on regarding these consistently poor decisions.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 19:35:50
Once a Bhoy time to stand up wance and for all this is ridiculous now it’s going to end up with one of our players careers in the gutter before anything happens basically if they have a Celtic jersey on do what u will with no consequences.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 19:56:16
I'd like to see Boyata sit out the rest of the season and leave quietly for a Fulham or Cardiff. He'll be another guy who didn't realise how lucky he was to be playing for Celtic.

Kev, the defence is full of big holes.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2019 22:40:45
Hugh Jarse, I like the big holes that fill our defence because our defence has given us 5 clean sheets in a row this season .
A water tight defence would do well to manage 5 clean sheets.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 17:50:22
Favourite thing today? We got a breakaway for the second goal, and Whea played a pass INTO SPACE for the runner to carry on the momentum and get forward. I've said for ages, the most frustrating thing was when we attach and the ball gets played to feet (or behind) rather than into space for the runner. Brilliant goal. Huge game on Wednesday. I fancy Aberdeen to get something, could be another small nail if we win. 🏆.

I always wanted Brown to sign a new contract and thought that his drop in form may have been a result of his future at the club being uncertain.

So after todays top class performance from our captain I just wanted to say again how pleased I am that he is here for 10 in a row.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 17:47:09
Despite what the huns are saying they will be very disappointed he’s stayed and will live to regret their gloating about his performance after the game at the bronx. I couldn’t see Broon signing out on that note and delighted he’s signed for the next two years. He was excellent today.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 18:14:05
Agreed lads. Scotty Brown was brilliant today. He epitomizes everything good about our great club. We need him and he needs us, simple. For all their gloating, the Orcs will be absolutely devastated that he's staying for another two seasons. They will never admit it, but they know how good and important he is to us. They would love to have a Scott Brown playing for them. A great three points today, onto the next one.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 21:02:12
agree RAW, it would not have sat right either if his last game against them had been the defeat, as he showed today he has still has a good engine✌️🍀🇮🇪.

03 Feb 2019 21:29:18
His running through the middle today was something I’ve not seen from him in a long time.
I remember watching his last game for hibs against us, he played brilliant and we were singing ‘that’s why we’re signing him’.
All that talk of Kevin Thompson being a better player.

Broonys here for 10IAR!

With all the injuries should we call Shevd back from loan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 17:14:34
With the injuries and suspensions we've currently got, my team on Wednesday would be:

Bain
Toljan Lustig Jozo Izzy
Brown McGregor
Weah Christie Sinclair
Burke

Johnston and Hayes would likely be the only 2 attacking subs we could bring on to change it though.

Was going to post similar McGarvey, we are in for a tough run in if the refereeing standards from the last couple of days continue. I've never been in the biased refereeing camp more just incompetent, but after this weekend I'm having 2nd thoughts, apart from the two pen shouts there was various strange decisions by Gollum, one that stands out is the lad Goss committing 3 or 4 booking offences b4 he was finally booked in fact I thought 2 of his challenges bordered on a straight red. Maybe I'm just paranoid😭.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 17:31:32
GET FLEMING OUT NOW.
Tough at the top.
If a manager continues to play the same players that are not learning from the same mistakes week in week out, the attention turns to the manager because by now everybody knows the players are not good enough, so you start blaming the manager for picking them in the first place.
The same can be said about John Fleming.
The standard of refereeing has took a nose dive under his watch.
Next step must be to replace him, cos its only going to get worse.
We need someone who is not biased and is honest and has a history of telling the truth especially under pressure.
So my selection would be the linesman who stepped down after the Dougie Mcdonald fiasco. At first he played along with their lies but then showed he had morales and wasnt afraid to stand up for what was right.
Its someone like that linesman we need running our referees, someone who gains respect and everything that Fleming is not.
Time for change Fleming out asap.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 17:41:45
The more it happens - with varying camera angles as proof and the more blatantly regular they occur; reckon we are all getting para.
However, as long as the club shrugs it off - it will get worse.

Don't think he looks better than Lustig or even Ralston. but only his first 45 mins . if lustig out for any time the position and a secured deal if he wants it are there for the taking . I'd like to see more of him . (not saying he was bad)

03 Feb 2019 15:55:04
You can see he's a player drb, I know it's only 45 mins. But you don't come from a side like Dortmund I you can't play a bit. Fully confident on this one he"ll do a good job for us ( if he can avoid the injury curse)

Campsie . How is giving an honest opinion doom and gloom. if I saw him do that in a game against us I wouldn't be screaming get him signed he looks class . would you? I did say he didn't ply bad and it's only his first 45 mins. stevie as we've both said it's his first game I don't think he was bad but he never stood out for me . just offering an opinion . kev i thought he played high up the park told to? And as you say wasn't rested defensively. with lustig injured it's good we actually got someone in and he could well be the boy to fill that role.

Thought the lad looked tidy to be honest. with more game time I think he’ll be an asset! Love big lustig to bits but the big man is done for me. to many touches on the ball before he gets rid, to slow, and all over the place positionaly. every team we play, either home or in Europe know he’s the weak link. tojan should be givin a run of games now and see how he goes.

Forrest
Benko
Edward
Rogic
And others to injury fingers crossed we don't lose anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 16:36:34
Thought everyone done well today, I was a bit worried until we got the first goal but we have a lot of options now going forward. On broony, I mentioned on a post a few weeks back regarding him moving to Australia . Being the competitor he is, I couldn’t see him leaving with the people floating over him, I presume that sort of thing rankles with him and I can’t wait for him to return the favour.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 14:41:17
Great 3 points at a tough place to win, well done the hoops.

The eddy incident was surely a foul though so had to be a pen, the defender went in with the studs up. Or am I looking at that through green tinted specs?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 14:48:53
Both eddy and Christie fouled with in seconds of each other.

"if that was outside the box its a free kick but its not a penalty" another gem fae that fud walker!

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 15:02:10
It was a foul and at least a yellow card for studs-tackle, so it should have been a penalty - unless you're Andy Walker or Collum.
The tackle on Burke was also a penalty in any other game.
However, correct decisions and player protection are regularly absent especially in away games, where the establishment are strongest.
The club have remained far too quiet and submissive on these matters in my opinion and the fact we are still winning may be a reason? However, I do not think for one second that rival managers or club spokespeople would stay silent if it was their players that were cluttering up the treatment room like extras from The Alamo.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 15:11:06
Brutal it was.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 15:25:58
IMO a really big reason we are carrying so much injures is because we aren't getting any protection from Referees and your body can only take so much punishment before it has to repair itself But I think that as a football club we need to start highlighting the abuse our players are receiving and don't let the Referee turn a blind eye to issue.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 16:25:32
I can't understand how collum gave a goal kick for the penalty kick incident.
For me he had 2 choices.
One was if he thinks the defender caught Burke then its a penalty and possible sending off.
Two is if the ref thinks the defender got the ball, then its a corner kick.
But not oor wullie. He some how makes up a third option.
Stick to giving whatever team is playing at ibrokes a hat trick of penalties, which you have done twice in your brown nose career. Or maybe we would have had a better chance of getting a penalty off collum if he actually had his back turned and couldn't see a thing.

However, it was an expensive 3 points as we lost Edouard, Forrest and Ajer for the upcomming games.

Did Lustig get hooked or was he injured too? Looks like Edouard might've broken a metatarsal just all he needs after coming back to fitness. May get to see Burke in his favoured RW position with Weah up front next game with Jozo and Biton at CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 15:12:23
Not for me mal. His foot plays the ball at same time as he plays Burke. Burke then plays ball as well so no corner.
The next two on Christie and eddy are stone wall penalties though.

03 Feb 2019 15:40:34
Contact with Burke then the ball penalty for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 14:55:46
The tackle on Eddie was dangerous I thought should have been a pen high feet and studs was showing. Hopefully he’s not out to long. But ohh weah god he made some impact in his first few games, at controle from the long ball was class and to get at in to Forrest was brilliant. Ed? What’s the chances of us getting him on loan for another season? Don’t think he well get much game time at psg. If he keeps this up the rest of season I would be worried about a bigger club looking to snatch him up on loan. Don’t think psg would be looking to sell this bhoy at his age, he’s going to be world class but he will need a club to devolepe more at with plenty of games.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't see why we won't at least try to extend Weah's loan.}

Boyata has got himself in a difficult position and completely of his and his agents making. For his next move he needs to finish the season strongly and a performance in Europe a must. Of course he also risks injury and being left out of contract. Pressure is on big man.

Couldn’t give a toss about his position to be honest! Guy would have never wore a Celtic top again if it was up to me! And if bencovic was fit he would have been left to rot in the stands! The level of arrogance him and his idiot of an agent have shown our club is staggering! Treated us with utter contempt! I for one cannot wait to see the back of him! Will never ever understand why we knocked back 9 million for this guy!

I see that Gutman's loan to Nashville has been cancelled by the MLS. What happens to the lad now? Will we try to loan him to another club or will he come to Glasgow now? HH.

{Ed007's Note - We'll probably try and loan him out elsewhere.}

Why has Gutmans loan been cancelled and not Perez's too?

February looks like being a crucial month for us with 5 league games 3 away against St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Hearts, the cup game and two Europa games against Valencia, hard at any time but with our horrendous injury list and trying to cope with "all the honest mistakes" well.
Best way to answer Dallas and co is win today and keep our 6 point gap.

Hopefully Bayo is fit to play in the away games at Killie and Hearts as that's the games we need him in as it'll be physical and hard to break down packed defences.

2nd point to add is the transfer policy. I am wondering if Peter lawell has adjusted our policy to meet the demands of current football climate. Let now be honest we can't afford the like of oli Burke, Tim weah, benko, Roberts. If we were to buy one of these guys that would be our whole transfer window gone. I wonder if the new approach will be bring loans in 12-24 months (players of decent quality valued >10million) develop these players but use them to project our club to a competitive level. This way we don't pay high transfer fees, just contracts. Obviously outwith this we can buy the odd deal, or potential if available. If this is the new policy I would accept it so long as the football ambitions are being met. What's your thoughts?

I’d be more than happy with your thinking provided the loans were 18 months. Having wee Roberts for the time we did felt like a proper signing. Seeing the likes of Burke, Weah for 6 months is just a taster for me, by the time these boys are really settled in and we’re seeing the absolute best of them it’s time for them to go back to the parent club.

I agree Garry, these transfers have been a bit frustrating but again if it gets us over the line and a bit more progress in Europe I'd accept it. I just hope that we have started negotiations already for summer targets, even if it's going to be loans to get us through the CL qualifiers. It attracts better quality players, brings money to sustain the club and keeps Celtic a household name in football.

Yip totally agree 4leafclover, I've said all along on here that trying to attract the quality we need to take us to the next level is very difficult due to the league we play in. Your right we may get lucky in that a quality loan signing decides they want to play for us permanently. Our record in developing young players is a major attraction for the so called bigger clubs to allow us to take their players on loan. The club will always have to adapt to the ever changing football climate. I think we will have a good chane if we wanted to sign Burke and Roberts this summer. The way Weah has settled and the start he has made I would be surprised if his loan deal wasn't extended another 12 months. PSG must be delighted with his progress already👍.

Tbh I think this a backwards step for Celtic. To me it's says that you will only sign "squad" players and the "quality" signings will be made up of loan signings. Similarly to Rangers, if you can't arrange long term deals then you will have to rebuild every year. Trying to qualify for the CL with a new team each year will very difficult.

03 Feb 2019 10:16:45
I think these short term loans have been brought in to safeguard the league. Although I expect us to win it comfortably the challenge has been closer this year.

We looked at Benko and another cb from croatia whose name escapes me
For now at the same time as simonovic . simunovic was the cheapest . Benko if I remember was only 500k more.

I agree zikos on the short term deals but if we can bring in 3-5 loans in (or on loan) each season for 1-2 years it would effectively be like buying the player but selling them off. If we qualify FOR the CL we have lost no money on transfers just wages and made more than enough through the transfer funds. If we could have highly rated players or potentially highly related players it might give us that edge to be a force in Europe. We're never going to with the CL. If we get close to the semis of the EL fantastic what a statement that would send. I genuinely think that this business model might be the way we combat the top 6 rich leagues. Don't you agree? Remember it's never been about the money it's what on the park that matters.

I think weah will be here next season. Also Burke if west Brom go up. Can't get game in championship never getting game in premiership.

03 Feb 2019 14:46:20
I don't think this is our new strategy.

With regards weah and Burke they have been brought in to cover Griffith's and arzani. Hence 6 months contract.

The right back situation is different. The loan was not our top priority and was only done because we could not get our top targets on permanent transfers. My guess is we will try again for a permanent move in the summer.

However, saying all that I'm sure lawwell would have been happy at our outlay lol.

4leafclover, I agree that this could be a good model for a lot of clubs. However I think a club the size of Celtic will suffer in the long run. They will eventually have less valuable assets as they belong to other clubs and will find it more difficult to qualify for the CL because of the constant rebuilding, impacting on revenue.

2 things to mention. Refereeing and transfer policy. The quality of the referees in Scotland has been a disgrace for years but frankly this year it has been appalling and downright embarrassing. Outwith yesterday's decision the first penalty is given and not given player going away from goal. The handballnat quick speed is an easy decision to get wrong, not for a linesman and certainly if we get the VAR in. I think it's time the SFA got these guys on full time deals. Referees declaring their own allegiance (therefore can't manage those games) and VAR (in which a manager or captain can call 3 reviews in game time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 09:18:11
The 'allegiance' thing would be a mockery, with various claims of dyed-in-the-wool supporters of Clyde, Partick or East Stirling lol.
Yesterday was not only a swipe at Celtic's dominance, it was also a slap in the face for Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Hearts who are doing their best to challenge - without any biased cheating assistance.
It is also an obvious ploy to tamper with goal-difference which can be crucial in European places.

03 Feb 2019 09:32:59
Best way to deal with that OAB. If ever found to have allegiance else where photos in colours, attending these games in what ever end they support. If friends, family or acquaintances come forward to hold as much integrity as possible then if your found to be lying its a complete loss of refereeing license. That would put an end to it.

OAB
You are quite right and I have been saying this for a while.
However, until Aberdeen, Hibs and all the other football association members. step up and support us then we will continue to be seen as paranoid complainers.
I would love to see VAR brought in but I would also like the ref to have a mike so he can explain his decisions and why he has/ has not agreed with a call.
VAR should also be up on the large screen so the supporters can see what HE sees.
The technology is available however, open and honest process is not part of the SFA/ SFPL remit.

Only way to deal with it is to get refs from another country.

The reality is with those changes there would be incidents against us that we may have got a way with but won't any more. But at least we'd have consistency and transparency across our game. There been many decisions that have cost people financially (some not like timalloys bets on pens and cards) , cost league titles, cups in Scottish football and its time in this day and age its now removed and resolved.
