This should never have been allowed to go on this long. 2 wins in 11 and garbage all season. We were 2-0 up and dominating and I knew we would lose. What does that say? We are awful in defence, literally the worst I’ve seen from any team at European level. Lennon must leave for us to move forward. I’m astounded this level of mediocrity is being allowed to continue. Listening to Lennon, he actually sounds happy with tonight. With that leading our team, we have no chance. I actually think Sevco could do an invincibles treble this year.

Said it before, Marshall on a freebie was a better bet that £5m for Barkas. Even Gordon is better. £5m? Jeezuz, they must still be laughing at us.

Celtic knew they’d made a big mistake from the start.
That’s why we tried to get the Roma keeper on loan.
He eventually went to Everton where he can’t get a place on their bench.
Our shortlist of keepers should’ve been better.
I thought we could’ve got better than Marshall but now I wish Celtic would’ve signed him.

Buzz I was reading an article where David Marshall said going to Celtic was never close and he is quite happy where he is it was after his heroics playing for scotland.

Centre halfs were excellent tonite by the way! Delusion at its finest! Like watchn a re run of a bad movie over and over and over again! 17 goals conceded in 5 EL games,2 wins in 11,27 goals conceded in that tome! Beat 5 times at home out of 10 games! Not won at home since September! Nothing to see here but, all will be ok!

Ajer is absolute gash. A good season a few seasons ago and he has not only peaked, rapidly declined.

To be honest I've never rated Ajer, he has always had a half decent CB beside him to make him look good apart from this season.

Forster covered his back on too many occasions last season and now he has been found out big time.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2020 13:55:03
Someone else pointed out that we could've went with Ajer in the middle with Bitton right and Elhamed left. Ajer isn't a left sided CB although he's constantly played there we aren't getting the best out of him by playing him out of position. He still has a lot of his game to polish up on so I don't get why he's trying to push through a move when he's still not fully developed. He needs to be a lot more physical and dominate his box more and stop switching off in games.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2020 17:57:24
Would prefer him in mid but we don't have lcb hh.

Pathetic! Garbage! Boring!

Only time we have a decent spell of possession against any team- is when they take a breather. Going absolutely nowhere. Playing frimpong on right wing is something a lot of people have said for a while, but to do it tonight was just desperation. El Hamed- deary me. He's left his tackling boots in the Israel dressing room.

Said all I've had to say about NL since Ferencvaros and beyond; however this is a team/ squad that are in danger of descending into oblivion before the transfer window offers some solutions?
Now you can say we came quick, out the blocks; scored twice and had good spells of play, away at AC Milan and that's encouraging; but this was another shocking defensive showing with International players unable (yet again) to do the basics and we have a severe goalkeeping crisis of which I have never seen the likes before.
Most opponents we play can score against us, having only 2 clean-sheets since Oct 4th; the last was in the Cup Semi Final Nov 1st.
I expect us to beat St Johnstone, but I thought the same v Ross C. and even if we do we may need to score 3-4 to be sure of 3 points?
As for a wee run and turning this around The Magic 6 Ball says?

I quickly looked at Barkas record since he became our keeper.
He’s played 16 games and conceded 17 goals and has only had 26 saves.
Which is 40% of shots on target are resulting in a goal.
I maybe unfairly compared him to Forster at this stage last season ( after 5 Europa league games)
Forster had played 17 games and conceded 11 goals out of 44 shots on target.
Which is 25% of shots on target has resulted in a goal.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2020 21:12:20
Barkas for me is absolutely rank rotten for me he is on a par with Ian Andrews and Carl Muggleton nowhere near as good as Scott Bain IMO I can’t for the life of me remember him making a save of note in any game he has played. and should have been hooked at half time. For all the good work we done until their equaliser he set the tone for the rest of the game shocking goalkeeping and wasn’t too clever for two more of their goals. I was quite happy with the team for parts of the game and with a bit of luck could have scored a couple of more goals. Rant over .

I get lennon is trying not to get on to the players but that wasn’t excellent tonight, we are still a mile off playing as a unit . As usual we need to score 3 just to get a draw, the keeper / keepers we have are awful. In hindsight joe hart would have been a better option than what we have ended up with. I appreciate he has a mistake in him but he is capable of making saves.

Ed007, I know all posters value your opinion.
I would like to hear your view on the way forward.
I am not against Neil Lennon and would have loved it if he had delivered 10iar. Alas, that probably won't be the case now as I think he has run out of lives.
How do we go about getting the season back on track?
Do we get as some have mentioned, a safe pair of hands to come in for the remainder of the season, hopefully to get us back on track and then get a new manager for next season,
Or do we bite the bullet now and get someone in to see out the season whether we win the league or not, clear out the players who don't want to be here and start rebuilding the squad.
Surely we have to get someone who will gain instant respect from the players (who have been dreadful so far this season) , is good tactically, gets players fit etc etc.
Whoever is responsible for recruitment of players, whether that be Lennon, Hammond, Lawwell or all three have failed miserably this season.
Goalkeeper, not convinced so far, but may come good.
We don't have one decent defender regardless of what permutation you put them in.
Brown looks like he can't hack it anymore, MacGregor has even gone backwards and then rest are not great either. Was hoping to see what Soro and Turnbull could do, but got to assume they are not up to much if they can't get a game in front of those currently playing.
Ajeti, can't play up front on own.
Klimala, "needs to fit into our system" rather than us changing to suit him, why was he bought if that was the case. We need players that can hit the ground running.
As per previous posts I would still hope for Rafa or someone of that stature, but have to be honest and say it probably won't happen.
So my question is do we go for a Rafa type, an Eddie Howe, a Sean Dyche type or do we go for an untried manager like the Rangers with a DOF.
If the bottom one was your way forward, who would you choose?
I kind of thought of WGS with Darren Fletcher.
But Rafa still my first choice.
Whoever it is, Lawwell needs to stop interfering.
Sorry for the long post mate.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - First thing's first with getting the season back on track is pretty simple, if certain players aren't going to give 100% and want to act like spoilt brats then we should treat the like spoilt brats and make them sit in the stands or just stay at home. I lay no blame for the Ross County defeat at the Neil Lennon's feet - that one's definitely down to the players. Brown's taking pelters but at least he's still out there giving it his all which is more than can be said for the likes of McGregor and Edouard - what's going on with LG and why persist with Rogic who has done his usual of 1 or 2 good games then he become Mr Invisible for weeks.
You say we need someone the players' respect well they respected Lennon enough over the previous 18 months so what happened to change that? Where's their respect for the Club and the fans, where's there's self respect as professional sportsmen?
I completely disagree that the recruitment has failed miserably, players have come in to what appears to be a fractured dressing room.
With Barkas I'm putting faith in Stevie Woods who scouted him for a year and both him and Hammond were very vocal about his ability, remember he is in a new country/culture and is still settling in and learning the language plus he hasn't had the chance to play with a settled defence in front of him. Ajeti has 5 league goals in 10 games and Duffy is being weighed down by his personal troubles and the pressure of being an Irish Celtic player isn't helping him. Elyounoussi has 10 goals and 5 assists in 21 games which are similar if not better stats than Forrest generally.
Elyounoussi in a Celtic team playing with confidence and they way we know they can would shine out as would Ajeti who is probably the second best out & out poacher we've got after LG when he is fit.
If we get rid of Lennon in the coming weeks it'll be either MON/Keane or Strachan who will replace him as the massive shadow of 10IAR is putting people off the job right now.
Going forward - whether we win the league or not this season - the Club needs to replace Lawwell in the summer and bring in a DOF and a new coaching team, that will be the ideal time to see the calibre of candidates and applicants.
You say that it doesn't look like Lennon can win the league, I totally disagree mate considering we've only played 13 games and if Lennon guts the dressing room and picks players who will give 100% and show some passion then there's no reason we can't get our season back on track. That and hard work on defending set-pieces which would be a BIG help.
Get LG fit and partnering Ajeti until Edouard gets fit and gives himself a shake, get Turnbull in the team, give Soro, Luca Connel, Walsh, Ewan Henderson, Oko-Flex and even Dembele a chance to show what they can do and force the slackers to up their game if they want to play. I'd even have Ralston start over Frimpong who must take some of the blame for Duffy's situation after leaving him exposed on numerous occasions when he is caught out too far up the pitch leaving Duffy to cover his own position and RB which he'll never have the pace to do.}

03 Dec 2020 12:48:31
A Celtic site summed this season up in 5 words.
“The Players Have Deserted Us”.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm putting a lot of the blame on the players, Leon, regardless of who the manager is there's no excuses for a lot of their individual performances.}

03 Dec 2020 13:23:14
Would love Rangnick to be the one that takes over. If he likes a project then let him have full control of everything and put in better scouting, coaching methods, transfers even if it means punting Hammond. If all the wantaways are sold in the summer then let him have the majority of the funds to rebuild the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Dec 2020 13:49:32
Completely agree with everything youve said Ed would even bring Taylor back into the team as Laxalt leaves us just as exposed as Frimpong does.

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The main problem most fans had with Taylor was that he wasn't KT but he's never a WB. Defensively he was solid enough and will improve the more he plays imo, for me defenders need to defend first and Taylor didn't do too much wrong in that department.}

03 Dec 2020 13:59:53
Great post ed I've criticised the new bhoys but maybe they need more time and we are all panicking a bit. think young Welsh needs games a a bit if faith instead of in now and again and Connell and soro with turnbull it could be a turning point if we show faith in these guys.

Fed up listening to it isn't lennons fault. If he is still playing players who's heart isn't in it then it's his fault more than anyone else

Barkas may have been scouted for a year but it wasn't by stevie woods as he is out goalkeeping coach and not a scout so he may be able to improve him over time but he isn't s miracle worker.

It’s Great to hear, but we always strengthen in Jan, I think that this season we might just buy some real quality. I think Desmond will have given direct instructions to do what it takes to get the 10 in the bag. He and Lawell are also supporters we should remember, and I think failing on their watch is not an what they want in the history books.
A Cup win in Dec and new first team members is just what we need.

Personally I hope Lawwell is working hard to get shot of Edouard, Christie, Ajer and Ntcham in January. Cutting ties with these players and giving players who are desperate to play for club will make a huge difference.

Signings we should be making in January are GK, CB, RB, ST, LW, RW. Big ask but if we have a clear out I don't see any reason why we cannot get these players in.

Hi Bhoys and Ghirls, first time poster. Be gentle. I think we have to keep the faith as the name suggests. Neil Francis Lennon is the man to take us forward we need to believe, I'm a believer. The new club have had their best start in 53 years. We are going through a blip,

We should be united instead of arguing as they will fold like a pack of cards and when they do we will be there to hand the banter baton back so to speak. Some of the comments I read and the scenes we see are not what celtic is all about, we are better than this. And to the fan that has started a petition to refund season ticket money should hang their head. 10iar will happen.

Also why and where has this "Frances" bit came from?
I have followed Celtic since the mid 70's and have Never known the fans to start using a player's or managers middle name until Neil Lennon was given a free ride and handed the managers job for the second time.
Why have the fans started doing this with Lennon.

There is zero evidence to suggest they will implode this season. The best chance we have is to win all 3 of the remaining derby games. We won't do that under NL.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2020 11:55:51
Bubs even if we did manage to win all three derbies there is every chance we’ll drop more daft points than them over the piece. They seem to have got rid of the faults in their game they had last year that had them chucking points away.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Dec 2020 12:06:31
Would love to think that stringing a run of wins together would make everything rosy again, but this period has just focussed attention on lots of other issues that need addressed. If we do manage to redeem this season and put it down as a blip, them I fear we have become the NEW gullibles. Scottish football is rotten to the core and our club are up to their neck in it.
We can’t blame the board for a group of previously very successful players turning to rubbish (that is one of the thing they can’t be held accountable for) , but they are responsible for what happens next.
The board also can’t do anything about our rivals having a good run of form, but should be asking questions about them doing it with players they can’t afford while setting up catalogue payments to the tax authorities, along with all the other financial irregularities. This leads into why as a club we haven’t done more to hold the Scottish football authorities to account on various occasions. Add to this the attitude to Res 12, when they asked for a smoking gun to take it forward and were then hand a litany of irrefutable documented evidence from sevco in the court action against CW and CG and then do their level best to do feck all. Hard to not think that our club has an awful lot to hide in all of this. And we fans are just expected to invest in a rigged poker game
This entire episode has just highlighted the utter contempt this club has for its paying customers.

I am one of us older fans, and for years I’ve had niggling doubts about how our club is run in relation to future ambitions. Thinking about the doubts back then. this is now the future and we are no further forward! Wonder how much CL cash we have lost out on in the last decade alone by not making modest improvements to give the best chance to get through the qualifiers, then spend the money anyway once we didn’t make it. And to repeat the same scenario year after year?
Know this seem like entering the domain of conspiracy but these niggles have been there for a very long. Even modest improvement every year in the last decade should have taken us out of site, unless our clubs business model is to keep Scottish football competitive.
