First time post!

Was reading earlier that starting from next year uefa will judge clubs on their own coefficient rather than their country's.

Great news for us, had a look at the coefficient ranking and we are currently 64th which I had hoped would have been higher but my mood quickly changed when I seen that sevco were lower than st Johnstone Aberdeen hibs hearts so surely that squashes any arguments that they are the same club πŸ˜‚.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

05 Aug 2017 18:05:08
It doesn't squash that argument as points are gained over a 5 year cycle so you're talking Tom Kite. Maybe your 2nd post will be more factually correct.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2017 18:09:48
Ryan larsson why are you even debating what makes them the same club. They are a different entity and have been since liquidation.

Transfer markets gone mental. Neymar has signed for PSG for Β£200 million and Β£515,000 per week. Unbelievable.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - That's after tax too, so it's over Β£1 million a week gross, gross being a very apt description too.}

03 Aug 2017 22:15:48
Think it will all end in tears for PSG, Neymar won't blend in with the team, the team will drop down the league, PSG will find out that one man a team does not make, how many shirts will they sell when the team is failing?,

Agree2 Disagree3

03 Aug 2017 22:46:16
Why Is it so bad how much do baseball basketball and American football players get paid? I admit it's a massive outlay do the spfl rum French football too as it seem no financial fair play rules in operation there either? Buzzing for start of new season usual waiting for confirmation of champs league cash need to wait for brendan quality signings till that's confirmed possibly βš½πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†.

What you moaning about Higgins. i only need to work 6880 years to overtake his 5 year deal . sleeves up head down . easy money.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Aug 2017 18:03:05
where was celtic's bid for him? lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2017 18:07:47
As a higher paid worker I only need to work 6879.5 years, but the pension will be through the roof by then.
ED will have Lilt on tap, and who knows Brother Pedro might just have the best team, we can all dream.

03 Aug 2017 20:00:51
Pfft! Looks like it's up to us to fly the flag again. Football in this country is embarrassing.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

03 Aug 2017 20:10:20
No change from the usual mate! 3 teams out of 4 out before the schools go back! An absolute disgrace honestly! When is it the co efficient changes to the individual clubs and not the whole country ED? Sick of being associated with this utter dross by the way! But hey they'll still all be begging for the scraps from our bowl when it comes to money getting dished out for us being in the CL!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Next season the changes kick in mate.}

03 Aug 2017 20:29:54
Thank god for that mate! It's just embarrassing what these diddy teams are serving up by the way! And here's us the only team left in Europe and we haven't even got the best squad in Scotland! πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ŠπŸ™ŠπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I thought Aberdeen would have went through tonight, ach well they can concentrate on fighting Hibs for second place now.}

03 Aug 2017 21:10:24
So when the co efficent changes how much of a difference is that going to make to us, I take it they are still going to work in 5 year cycles?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - https://goo.gl/5XKrhR

03 Aug 2017 21:45:14
Basically we need to have a decent run this year to stand still as season 12/ 13 where we reached last 16 drops off. No pressure then.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Aug 2017 22:30:34
On the club coefficient it only has up until 13/ 14? Am I wrong in thinking this has already dropped off?

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Aug 2017 00:00:22
I'm sure BR mentioned it will be harder next year as we will need to go through 3 rounds before the play-off, looks like we will be starting late June.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 22:27:38
I actually watched a bit of there game ED and that mob they were playing are average at best! Missed opportunity for the sheep there I think! But like I said, doesn't surprise me in the slightest we're the only ones left standing!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I thought they were really poor but Aberdeen got what they deserved tonight.}

05 Aug 2017 18:04:55
When the Coefficient is awarded their points individually it will confirm once and for all that it's a new club.

Is it just me or did anyone else think the media thought / hoped we were going to fail last night?

Pre match about BR this BR that, seems today they never had a script for us winning

Biggest plus for me last night barring a wee 5 mins @ the start of the second half we were the better team, CG was never troubled and we had a real calm streak running through the team even the acknowledge that they new how much LG had in his tanks so that was when he was deployed was very measured

Is it now Olympiakos and Nice that now would need to fall out so we get into pot 3?

Got to say I fear none of our potential opponents three of them we have faced and we have came on leaps n bounds since then (y)

I think it's one of Liverpool, Seville, Napoli or the Greeks Jamie. Totally agree that we now expect to get through these games, although they will be close.

Agree3 Disagree2

03 Aug 2017 18:21:19
Agree Jamie. I think we're definitely getting some negative unbalanced press compared to other incidents including football matters going on elsewhere.

Best response is to keep winning to shut them up.

The commentator was disappointed when celtic scored. He was getting excited for a 15 minute spell at the start of the second half when they where coming into the game. Were more than capable of competing with any team from the draw. Our away form is improving and we will strengthen the squad with a few quality players brought in. Looking forward to another great season. Hopefully we can still be in Europe beyond xmas and dominate the domestic scene.

03 Aug 2017 13:06:53
I think biton was fantastic last night.
He was cool and calm all night. Got himself into the right position to cut out danger early and his passing from defence was great.

03 Aug 2017 14:25:30
When he put him on Kev i genuinely thought WTF. especially with gamboa on bench ( god knows why ajer wasnt) . I just hope the gaffer dosent start messing about with players positions. think that's what done him at liverpool imo. Thought Jozo was the stand out tbh, thought wee griff was excellent also, love him or hate him that's a few times Forrest has put us thru to the next round. Roll on saturday, the fevers kicking in now.

03 Aug 2017 14:40:22
I didn't see the match last night although I saw the goal this morning.
I was delighted with the result, it showed a lot of character, it's the sort of match we may have lost in previous seasons.
I had a feeling that Rosenborg wouldn't come out too much, when you don't score an away goal it leaves you very vulnerable and their main aim would be to stop us scoring.
It will be tough in the play off round, we've played a few of the teams before and the ties have all been very close. The thing is though that we have beaten these teams before, and we look to be a stronger side now.

Hi Ed, in the spirit of spreading the gospel of Tim further could the league name of the fantasy football competition you have set up be changed to Celtic Supporters League?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's not me that runs it mate, it's a guy from the Liverpool page but there's nothing stopping you starting one for just on here too.}

03 Aug 2017 15:12:54
Ok cheers Ed. I will set one up. and confirm codes.

Bhoywonder I knew he had played there before so I wasn't to worried to be honest.
Ajer had a knock from what I hear but not sure if true.
You heard anything ed007?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Ajer picked up a slight knock against Sunderland but it's nothing serious.}

03 Aug 2017 16:07:40
The way I look at it is, in midfield, Biton is a liability, at centre back, he is an asset.

Great result last night and Biton was super at CB. My only concern with him being there full time is l think he lacks pace against fast CF. We still need to get in a new CB and CF.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2017 17:59:31
Yeah he seemed comfortable alongside big Joso. The team as a whole have a good work ethic and will get stronger. Hopefully we win the play off but we're guaranteed European Fooball until xmas so happy days.

{Ed007's Note -

{Ed002's Note - The transfer fee would not be an FFP issue in any one year for a number of clubs but it would be an issue for any club looking to do any other significant business over forthcoming years. As an example, in the past Messi has turned down a transfer to one side who had agreed to meet Barcelona's then €250M price tag, and Barcelona and a commercial partner resisted an approach by a commercial organisation on behalf of an English side with an offer to buy, or at least part fund, the purchase of the player. I am aware that in Spain there has been speculation about an offer being made during the summer 2014 transfer window, but it is "largely" incorrect. This all started in 2012 when in mid December Anzhi made an offer to Barcelona that matched the €250M euro release clause that existed in his contract, and put up what I am told was a "very" significant personal package. However, Messi was not interested in a move to Russia and Barcelona did not want and had no obligation to sell - so Messi, in early February 2013, extended his contract with Barcelona. In the early summer of 2013 efforts were being made by Adidas to broker a deal that would get Messi away from Nike and to one of their three high-profile clubs that they were invovled with at the time. Very quickly Real Madrid were ruled out and with Pep Guardiola moving to Bayern Munich that pretty much saw the end of any chance of a move there (given the strained relationship) at the time. This left Chelsea, and I can confirm that discussions were held about making a firm bid - at this point we are in late 2013 and early 2014 and Messi was in a verbal spat with Barcelona about getting a further extension - which the club were against. Ultimately, the player was (at least in his eyes) available during the Spring of 2014 and at that point Chelsea and Adidas made his management representatives and Barcelona aware of what they would be willing to do to make a transfer happen. Since then he has again extended his contract with Barcelona and Chelsea and Adidas have parted company. A number of questions were asked of representatives of UEFA in December 2014 regarding the transfer of the financially very high-end players (Messi, Neymar etc.) and the impact on FFP. It is clear that exceptions would need to be put in place as the alternative could be lawsuits from players regarding restrictions on trade.

In the case of Neymar PSG still need to stay with FFP but there will be a little flexibility. The fee itself is less of an issue than the wages and other costs are. PSG has spent very little this summer and know that they can raise additional funds through various sponsorship deals, some image rights and of course through player sales to balance the books. PSG are actively trying to move on a number of players whilst they also remain interested in Sanchez. Those players include some who have very high wages and a decent value - so that will take a serious bite out of the costs. From a marketing perspective Neymar can bring in a great deal via endorsements and we may eventually see as part of the deal some of that transferred to PSG. They also have a relatively low income kit deal - expect a significant jump in that.

Regardless of all of this, by the end of June 2018 they need to be back on track FFP wise. UEFA already monitor all clubs previously banned or subject to prior sanctions. It is a long list and PSG are on it, so UEFA will be monitoring the situation.}

03 Aug 2017 13:10:32
They were talking about him paying it himself to get round FFP and then him making the money back through some kind of Qatar backed "sponsorship".

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 14:42:35
Think it's a bit rich Ed considering the doping that Barcelona have done and the amount of dept Spanish teams have.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - It's going to get very messy, no pun intended lol. It's not my money and obviously somebody somewhere can afford to finance the deal there's just something about the figures mentioned that morally doesn't sit right with me.}

03 Aug 2017 15:21:09
Ed, If it had been your money mate the deal would have got done yesterday

They big notes in your wallet are beginning to weigh you down :-P.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Aye right you!}

03 Aug 2017 15:38:16
I agree mate and that was the same as the people I watched the game with last night. PSG will make a lot of that money back through shirt sales sponsorships and image rights but it's frightening and I hope the bum falls out it all.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I couldn't agree more mate, I'd love to see one of those type of clubs to go bust.}

03 Aug 2017 16:52:25
But the whole thing is mad! Jurgen Klopp on bumping his gums about the Neymar deal saying only two clubs could afford Neymar and what about FFP etc. and yet isVVD now worth Β£60 mill nearly two year after Celtic and he is top drawer

A said before on here this Siggurdsson @ Swansea Β£45 million not being enough he is MINCE!

Β£30 MILL for a 18yr old keeper

Where does it stop? Somebody needs to get some sort of transfer scale sorted, crikey what could you do in the world with these amounts of money?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Would you be 'moaning' if someone had paid Celtic Β£60 million for VVD though? That's where my thoughts are split mate, I know in my heart it's morally wrong when you see what's going on on our own doorsteps with foodbanks etc but would I throw my morals out the window if say Man City bid Β£100 million for Tierney & Dembele?
What I'm saying is and I'm including myself in this apart from the EPL part lol, are we genuinely complaining about it or, like the EPL, is just jealousy that we're not getting that kind of money?}

03 Aug 2017 17:20:15
I hear you Ed, Is it jealousy thing? I don't think it is for me anyway VVD was worth more than what Southampton paid for him big time!

My thoughts were charities mate Cancer get about Β£35 mill a year somebody was saying RSPCA and cat and dogs get about Β£28 mill and a neuro one close to my heart only gets Β£5! I know you have a couple of charities close to you but Ed the money getting banded about in Transfer fees is shocking mate

OK Let's say Neymar is a star well index link to X amount of new hospitals or schools or charities and suddenly he ain't that big a star in my eyes

Am looking for the beaks to get a grip here

Some sort of Barometer MUST be implemented Klopp spouting FFP that is a laugh because there is fawk aw fair about that IMO (Y)

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Spot on, I totally agree with all of that. What about the fans that were raging we aren't part of any break away Euro league! Do we really want to be associated with this kind of stuff? Sometimes it's better just being a huge fish in a wee pond.}

03 Aug 2017 17:27:47
So on a much smaller scale ed, if a team has needed a number of soft loans to just keep the lights on then go on a spending spree and spend 7-8 million on new players and wages , why are uefa not interested ?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It's the Mason's mate - it's ALWAYS the Masons.}

03 Aug 2017 18:22:14
No a don't want affiliated to all of that Ed.

But I was listening to the radio the other night and it was talking about Forest Green offering better wages Β£than Partick Thistle bit of a shock to be honest

We are spending what Β£6 mill in fees per season? (maybe more this season) looking at all these prospects rough diamonds etc with sale on value our income is not going to increase unless PPV is introduced somewhere

In five years time domestic wise could be shocking or most teams made up of three or four ex Celtic youths ( not far away from that now)

If you were a Fulham fan you would be mad seeing whatever money MD goes for eventually but someone within the powers of the game must do something this Neymar might be the camel that breaks the straws back mate because there is real repulsion at it we kind of knew that the Β£100 mill player was coming but this is just nuts! (Y)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 19:12:23
No instalments the fee was paid in full as Barcelona demanded that and were not willing to negotiate with psg
Psg offered a list of players to Barcelona but they declined and went down this route to hopefully deter psg
The big thing I get though is how they get a loyalty bonus off Barcelona as he was still there 1/ 8
When you think that Barcelona stood up in court over tax evasion and for them to decided in early summer to move and agree a deal but wait til after this bonus
In regards to Qatar state did they not have a fall out with Barcelona over shirt sponsorship now they have bankrolled another toy to buy their 2nd best player seems like there could be a hidden agenda there.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 11:35:52
Fantastic to be in the playoffs considering the problems we have had in defence and attack, I think had Griffiths Dembele Boyata been fit for both legs we would have beaten them home and away convincingly. I hope we invest now and reap the rewards in the Group stages. Not giving up on Paddy coming in until something official is said it's pretty clear he would have been a stand out in both games. Not easy playing a team who are mid way through their season so huge praise to all involved. Hope we see Ajer Ntcham Benyu Kouassi and Griffiths start against Hearts.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

03 Aug 2017 12:07:39
That was a good hurdle we jumped last night. Not Rosenborg particularly (although they should be applauded for their efforts) but more our own problems. There were a few below par performances, but tactically I thought we were very good. Disciplined. I expected them to come out a wee bit more to be honest, it wasn't until after we scored, and a natural striker came on, that they did. If we can stay as patient when teams are sitting so deep, that's an encouragement. Being more able to unlock a side like that would be nice though. The movement of a real forward, a bit more Tommy Rogic and an upgrade in personnel should do that. Getting one or two in for the play-offs though, they'd have to be real quality to fit in seamlessly so quickly. Sadly I think again, we look like we're waiting to actually qualify before that happens.

03 Aug 2017 12:26:30
I think Ntcham looks the sort of player who can unlock stubborn defences JT. whether or not he can play along with Rogic we'll see.

Pot 3 is looking possible IF we can get through the play-off round. Dynamo Kiev and Ajax are already out. Liverpool Sevilla and Napoli don't look like they should have too much trouble in the "League Route" but if Olympiakos get a tricky tie like Beer Sheva it could be a goer. That would only be a bonus, if you offered me a place in Pot 4 right now I'd bite your hand off!

I'm not sure if olympiacos can get beer sheva as they are on a different route from us (I think) . Saw a thing last night and they could get Nice or Hoffenheim though who would have a good chance. Other 3 are young boys, steaua and Istanbul basaksehir or something. Would be good to be in pot 3 so here's hoping.

If we had him last night instead of Hayes it would have been a different story. Surely we have Β£8-9m for paddy, we will get that back three fold back.

Wouldn't mind that boy Caulker either. While we are on the subject.

Absolute scum bags and I hope they are caught, named and shamed. There's absolutely no place for this kind of behaviour. Even the videos of some of our fans singing a song about Lee rigby. Totally agree Garryc, banter is part of what makes football interesting especially with us and sevco but lately it's seems to have stepped over the mark. Neither of both set of fans should be happy about the recent stuff, if they have any morals at all. Shocking and barbaric that some moronic element of fans and society today think that glorifying deaths is ok.

It's always these twats the press concentrate on. What I can't get my head around is their total incapability to realise how they damage the club they purport to love.

Hopefully they get identified and banned. We have the greatest support in the world, but within it, there are some who fail to realise we represent our club whenever we go to see them.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So are clubs now responsible for anything any of their supporters do, no matter where or when? I don't remember any clamour for Arsenal to make a statement when one of the London terrorists had an Arsenal shirt on, and does that make all Arsenal fans ISIS supporters now?}

03 Aug 2017 12:23:25
No they shouldn't be. But, sadly there are forces at work who want just that.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 12:26:20
The problem is where do you draw the line, as to what a club is responsible for, and what somebody wearing a football tap is responsible for. Do I feel like people saying certain things about certain people is a reflection on me? Naw. Do I think that it is a reflection on others? Naw. Do I think a football club should be pushed to make an apology for the actions of a few people? Naw. It's amazing the difference a football shirt seems to make. The club will deal with who they see as wrongdoers. The law will deal with those who they see as wrongdoers. Anything in between is just getting tedious and the media are just stirring up one big "you're momma is fatter than my momma" playground mentality. Guy does something stupid, media finds a reason to brand them a particular football fan an bingo, p*sh fodder to fill half a page. Thankfully, the majority of folk aren't biting it and clearly do not agree with the actions of a minority.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 15:46:29
Ed you're spot on and I'd actually forgotten what football top the terrorist was wearing as it was irrelevant.

The issue we have is the way the press focus on anything in Scotland that is non-pc (when it suits them) and of late everything seems to be involving us.

The idiots causing these issues can only blame themselves and they clearly have no real intelligence or moral compass in the first place when they leave their social media profiles public hence they need to deal with the fallout and rightly so.

{Ed007's Note - The Scottish press is just an extension of Tw@tter and that's a cesspit. A Scottish journalist's job these days seems to consist of sitting and trawling through social media for stories and reporting on sporting events from their living room watching it on TV.}
