Thank you to the Celtic board; was in a state of panic for the last few days as offer after offer came in. Thank god for BR if RD had been here half our team would be playing in England and we would have got nothing like the money quoted.
On an another note 6 players are out of contract in the summer with the exception of PR none are vital to our team, another 6 next year but would expect 4 to sign new contracts, Gordon Brown Armstrong and Henderson. If the board remain strong in the summer this could be a very good side

got to be said the biggest factor in our success in the coming future is brendan rodgers, it seems now that the board are as much behind the manager as the fans are, aslong as that continues i feel nothing can stop us reaching our goals . hail hail folks

what a load of guff you may be right that if rd was in charge players would have left but it would have been the board sanctioning moves not rd

Anyone fancy a late loan move for ex hun schmuck McCormack, I know he's not the best but surely better than cifti. 6 months would do for me

AG : no point in going for McCormack he can't jump gates let alone jump the dyke . Hehehe

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 22:57:33
McCormack is a celtic fan and always has been, when he played for rangers youth he'd get home and change out his current bun clothing and get the hoops on to come get a kick about with us normal folk, doesn't mean he's not a dickhead lo and shouldn't ever b near our great club hail hail

Agreed cprs lol. But see where AG was coming from. That boy has something about him, good goal scorer but rubbish attitude, reminds me of tony stokes. I would have been OK with a loan deal for him (also the manky mob would be sick) lol

Well with only a couple of hours to go it looks like we will be bringing in no new players on transfer deadline day.
Tbh its just a bunch of rubbish pushed by sky to sell their tv packages along with this "best league in the world" rubbish.
Deadline day died a few years ago.
I am a happy chappy here.
Moussa stays and we have signed a young midfielder with potential in eboue kouassi.
The team we have i have no doubt are on a run to special things and for the first time in a very long time i am confident in the sqaud going in to champs league qaulifiers.
Hail hail bhoys and ghirls

Evening ed bhoys and ghirls for the first window in i don't know how many years I look at our starting 11 and I honestly don't think we need to strengthen having said that do you see anyone coming in thank you

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I can't see anything happening this late - so much for Rodgers want to get CL players in in plenty of time.}

31 Jan 2017 21:23:54
I hope Rodgers gives a few people a bit of a clue as to how things will go in the summer. His way. And I mean at the start of the window. He's already shown on a few occassions that he is the boss now. If Chelski did indeed make a bid for Dembele today you can bet your bottom dollar it's because BR is in charge that Dembele is still a Celtic player. You can bet your bottom dollar we took a holiday in Dubai over a lucrative friendly tourney because Rodgers is in charge. And you can bet your bottom dollar he won't take the recurring excuses again.

If there wasn't a deal to get the right players in on time then that's ok with me. In my opinion with the squad we have and a few summer additions we should do not bad in CL qualifiers. So not to disappointed about the signings or lack of.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 17:04:04
With the team doing so well it wouldn't bother me if no one was signed before the deadline, If we have targets and they are not available it's better we try again in the summer rather than make the mistakes of previous windows by wasting cash on squad players.

Qualifiers to deal with but we have a team more than capable of getting through them we are a different beast to what we were in July. Would have liked to have seen 3 or 4 leave but there is time yet. If the window closes and no more in let's enjoy what we are seeing at the moment and also look forward to seeing what Eboue brings to the team. Plenty to be positive about the quicker this window closes the better.

31 Jan 2017 19:58:07
Did ye all hear BR talking about LG? Seems he has an issue with the wee mans work ethic when not top dog and not playing. The other guys seem to apply themselves in training whether playing or not so that they're ready to step back into the team when opportunity arises.

Looks like Leigh needs to sort this one out in his own head which I hope he does as he still has much to offer at Celtic Park as a 40 goal a season striker. Nae use though if he's as (un) fit as me! As BR said-talents not enough. What an example Henrik was of both! 🍀

31 Jan 2017 16:38:12
I think we could do with another forward but it's looking really unlikely. At the start of the window if we were only to get one player in, I would have been disappointed. Especially as br said he wanted two or three in. Now with all the speculation I'll just be glad to hold onto what we have . Although if dembele has a serious problem with his knee, we could end up struggling.

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Jan 2017 16:49:29
Agree James, it's looking bleak on the signing front. Perhaps it's more about the players we have retained?

Agree5 Disagree2

31 Jan 2017 17:16:47
Although it's extremely hard to sign quality in the January window - it's always easy to get caught up in the buzz.

We are currently in the best position for many years on the pitch, in the dugout and in the administrative corridors, so unless we receive an outrageous bid or pluck a rabbit out of the hat ourselves in the next 7 hours - it's carry-on Celts; Domestically, go for a treble, maybe a points record and many more great performances and memories.

Then there will be plenty of transfer activity in the summer to hopefully improve us even more for another CL foray.

Agree2 Disagree3

31 Jan 2017 22:35:15
Dont see the need to buy players because its deadline day. We don't need to buy. BR will only buy if the right player becomes available. We need to get rid of the dross that Lennon and Deila bought just for the sake of buying! Only buy players that will get into the starting 11 otherwise no point in buying!

Do not know how genuine the "Dembele to Chelsea, £40m" rumours are but just spoke to two of my ex bear pals and they are bricking it on several fronts. Firstly a few weeks ago I bet 3 of them that Dembele, when he went, would go for over £20m, looks like that bet is a winner (money going to the Thai Tims)
Secondly they know that Celtic already have MILLIONS coming in via our Champions League exploits, we are also awaiting money whenever VVD is sold, IF, Dembele goes then add another £40m to our bank balance, I know Brendan will not get anywhere near the full £70m+ coming in, but give him say £15m in summer plus getting some lesser players off our wage bill, then add the young players like Eboue, Ajer, Aitchinson etc to our squad and Celtic are in a very healthy position ON and OFF the park.
My ex bear pals now realise how poor their team and manager is (except bigot in a suit who still clings to the King "inheritance" money coming in) bigot is also desperate to get Senderos off the wage bill and wants all ex bears to text or email club demanding they let him go.
I am enjoying Transfer deadline day no matter what unfolds as IN BRENDAN WE TRUST.

Tim there's a story circulating in certain circles that the sevco board want the lying king out as he's very seldom here and the much muted over investment hmm hasn't happened so bigot in a suit needs to take his heed oot his a$$e, as for deadline day personally canny go it HH

This must be your 2nd favourite day of the year Ed Haha. What's happening? As much as I like him I would be pretty happy for Dembele to be sold for silly money. Can't see it actually happening though.

Any sign of anyone coming in?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - The Dembele interest is to do with Michael Emanalo - Chelsea's Technical Director - and I would not be at all surprised if there were an offer made today.
As for incomings it's all up in the air and proving extremely difficult to sort the chaff from the wheat, we're being linked with everyone whose agent is looking for a move and using us as a hook to get other parties interested, sorry.}

31 Jan 2017 13:25:54
Cheers ed. Always look to see what you have to say before I believe anything I read or see on tv

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Chelsea must make an acceptable offer which would allow Celtic to give him permission to travel for a medical and talks. Why would Celtic allow another club to examine their parent without any prior arrangement.
From what I know Dembele travelled to London to see a knee specialist - possibly Dr Richard Steadman - and it has nothing to do with Chelsea as such.}

31 Jan 2017 14:30:59
So do you reckon there's substance to this rumour then ed? If you were a betting man would you wager a tenner on him moving by 11pm tonight?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - No, he's visiting a knee specialist not Chelsea.}

31 Jan 2017 17:11:19

Hi Ed

Do you know if there is any truth in BR not being happy with the budget. I would have thought that would have all been agreed before he signed on and that DD would make sure no one risks BR walking away after 1 season

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - No, it's just more negative bs made up by the media to, what's that now? 5 or 6 players Rodgers has fell out out with and now the board over budgets while TRIFC are signng two-bit action an heads nobody else wants - it's all just PR stunts, Rodgers is well aware of his budget and knows there's money there and available for the right signing if he feels it's worth it. Rodgers won't spend money just for the sake of it or if the player isn't better than what we hsd.}

31 Jan 2017 12:40:50
Apart from maybe another forward why the clamour for new faces the young midfielder is good business hopefully, and I am sure they'll get there signings in early in the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2017 13:18:16
Cheers ed. I thought it was all bull

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers know the financial constraints when he got the job, why is it all of a sudden being portrayed as a problem?}

Is it the usual unsettling media talk or are the likes of Dembele and Sviatchenko probably leaving before tomorrow? I understand with the team performing the way it is there will be vultures circling, seems to be constant though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2017 11:03:22
When it comes to transfers guys please remember that players are rarely diehard fans of the team they play for. They may enjoy where they are and they may be nicely settled but when they are offered a chance to challenge themselves elsewhere with lucrative money on offer then it's likely they'll seriously consider it and then move on.

Understand that players are not necessarily as committed to our club as we are and you might see it from their point of view. If you were given a similar opportunity by a rival employer you can't say you wouldn't be interested. As long as players come and go with decency and fairness that's all we can ever ask for or expect. HH

Dembele in London for a knee scan does anybody else think we're a bit light up top

Believable0 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2017 12:02:01
We are a bit light. It's unfortunate, but at the same time this is where players like Aitchison should get the nod. Did they have to send Moussa to London today though lol, got my brain scrambled.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jan 2017 10:21:27
See there is a post on other sites saying we are dropping our demands for Dembele, This would be disastrous for the board. It would be one cheap deal too far the fans the management team. Beware the eve of January.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2017 08:36:18
Cant believe that fellow posters are believing the BS being spouted from tabloids and media about Dembele, KT etc. they have been trying to do this for decades . Also people think that because we have only signed 1 that its the boards fault?, when BR has already stated that the board have been backing him. im no fan of the board, but think that if they even tried it with rodgers he wouldn't stand for it (board realise this) . id be surprised if anyone left this window, and im kinda glad that we are taking our time and not just stockpiling average players like yrs gone by, we need more players to leave than to bring in. all this bojan marquee mince that has been floating for months was never going to happen, same for mcarthy, if everton have ko a 16 mill bid already would anyone want him at that price?, not me.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

31 Jan 2017 06:58:01
Almost the end of the window and some will be upset with only one signing
Just remember how far this team has come, the way they have gelled under BR has been fantastic. If the current squad is fit I'd expect them to qualify for CL.

January is always poor for attracting the 'right' player, this is compounded with made up stories from the wonderful scottish press (and sky).
Let's focus on the team and not the fact we have 'only' spent £3m on s single player.

We are on for a treble. Let's be patient regarding transfers until the end of the season. Remember we have signed some dross as a last resort, let's not repeat.
Hail Hail

Island

I wouldn't be bothered if we didn't get any more players in during this window.

For the first time in years we have players who can come in and do a job when first team regulars are out. Remember that Dembele, Griffiths, Rogic and Armstrong were missing on Sunday and we beat a team in the top 6 by 4 goals while limiting them to 1 shot on target while resting 2 of our best back 4 (Lustig and Sviachenko) .

We have a board that while look after the clubs interests they don't like parting with money much. But if there is 40m in the table that will definitely be grabbed. I think the only way MD will stay will be because BR won't let it not the board if it was last season with RD he would be off.

All on the last few days of the window I think this is all the down to the media trying to unsettle our team. None of these players will leave and nobody else will come in this is only my opinion by the way. Hope we get the following out the door though. Commons ciftci ambrose Baily and Allan hh guys hate this transfer window 🍀

Today will be a long 18 hrs as we await the closing of the transfer window. With almost the full team being touted by the papers for transfer i will only be happy when its gone. Gordon, Sinunovic, Sviatchenko, Tierney and Dembele all going going gone
I calulate that lot to be worth 90 million.
If this window is bad think about the summer one with Armstrong, Sinclair and Griffiths possible targets as well and Roberts gone we could need a complete new team and management

My thoughts on the Dembele rumour are pending Ed007's approval, but it is worth considering that we'd all ove us consider a 10-12M deal a marquee signing.

Retaining Moussa is surely thrice that!

Simples.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Wasn't that marquee signing meant to be Bojan? (rofl}
