Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

Ed, with celtic being called out for the toney bid, they are obviously trying to create a bidding war but what's your take on maybe the player has told them his preference is to join celtic.
I think he would rip it up here.
Hope we get him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I said on another thread, John so forgive the cut n paste:

Reading between the lines it looks to me like Tonev might fancy the move up here but we aren't getting near the money Peterborough are looking for. If there are clubs out there bidding near the asking price why are both McAnthony and Fry publicly trying to goad Celtic into upping their offer?
The statements to the media coming out of Peterborough will not sit well with Lawwell though as that isn't the way he likes to do business and could see us leaving them to it.}

31 Jul 2020 09:24:20
If there was a club that bid the price they want they would be shouting their name all over the place.
Ed I heard the boy has family up here already. x.

at the wind up lads i watch him on open goal and with the amount of names being flung about on here i thought i would give big kev a shout haha.

{Ed007's Note - He's must be in his 60s for a start, he was the milk monitor when Timalloy started school.}

clubs have voted to go ahead with the 5 subs this season. good news for our youngsters i think they get more game time with this.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2020 20:13:54
What is the point of five subs?, I think they would be better changing the red card rule, so if a player gets red carded, the team can bring on a substitute, will stop games being spoiled by an uneven number on opposing sides, and make it if a player gets red carded it's an automatic two or three game ban.

30 Jul 2020 22:07:39
What a load of nonsense.

U can't be serious aindoh 😂😂😂.

At least keV Kyle suggestion was laughable. I'm not sure if you are serious.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 22:41:12
Yeah and out come all the clubbers to nobble your star player and take one for the team knowing that should they get sent off they will be replaced. Bizarre idea.

Agree4 Disagree0

31 Jul 2020 00:32:55
Ok, make it a four game ban for a red card, and allow the substitution for the player dismissed, I'm just thinking a way ahead of you guys, I said on here a couple of years ago, why doesn't the greatest manager we have ever had, play two up front, and I was ridiculed, because it wasn't modern football, no successful team played with two up front, now it is becoming the norm again,
Losing a player for four games as a direct punishment for a red card must be a deterrent, .
I say, give it a chance, .

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2020 08:57:06
Aindoh youve got to be the biggest wind up merchant on this page. You can't be serious with half the rubbish you post.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2020 10:00:12
Why change the red card rule. We don't get many anyway and it will only help sevco out 😉.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2020 10:40:45
Not sure I'm with aindoh on the red card rule but one thing I would change is the Extra Time situation. I'd go straight to penalties. Unplanned for extra time bughers up public transport and increases the risk of player injury.

I was reading the amount of people involved with the Barkas transfer.2 agents from Croatia had a mandate with AEK to talk to Celtic. A Greek agency is also involved. Also a Greek Agent is with him in Glasgow . Plus the Law firm who made all the contacts! All that for 1 transfer!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

31 Jul 2020 09:26:48
Read that as well Pud. Just shows how complicated buying a player can be.

30 Jul 2020 13:33:40
Good to know that Vasilios Barkas says that he thinks that "him (NL) and I have a very good relationship so far. " That's just after 10 minutes - we'll see what the next 20 minute's quote says.

The Daily Rectum will come up with a feel good lie for the Rangers at some point. I hope we are looking for players in France as everyone we have brought in has done a great job. A left footed Centre Half would be ideal along with a winger and a new forward next plus a decent LB as I don't think Bolongoli will cement his place in the squad. Taylor is ok for Scottish Football but we need a player of better quality for the LB spot.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 17:14:03
I actually thought he ( Taylor ) looked to be forming a decent partnership with Mo during the pre-season.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 13:01:57
If we don't have another JF, KT or Cal-mac etc coming through; I would much prefer us to concentrate overseas during transfer windows.
Not just because the English market is so over-inflated and competitive, but because we have previously done very well in places like Scandinavia, Holland, Eastern Europe, South America and even Naka from Japan.
The prices quoted for English mid league players and the subsequent wages are ridiculous as well.
Another thing I was wondering was, did we not have an arrangement with other clubs like Barcelona in the past where we were offered development 'projects'?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2020 13:30:32
How do we know Connell or Robertson won't develope we didn't think cal would turn out as good.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 13:37:12
As I said in a previous post the Development Squad looks the most potent that I've seen in a while. I reckon there'll be another 2 or 3 making appearances. Maybe Luca Connell and Stephen Welsh can be seen as development projects and I believe they're at a standard of anyone else coming in from abroad in similar positions.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Welsh will be part of the first team squad this season from what I'm hearing, Stengo.}

30 Jul 2020 13:50:51
Good to hear Ed, but he'll still be a development project. Come to think of it, everyone at PH is a development project.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I agree with you regarding the Development Squad as well mate. I don't see them much at all these days but from what I've seen and read we have a bunch of youngsters that are chapping at the first team door and could save us millions into the bargain.
The only worry for me is that the Celtic support aren't the most patient when it comes to giving youngsters a chance, they bleat on about how good the DS players are but when they do get the odd chance they're written off as soon as they make a mistake. Only these days it's not just at the ground and the youngsters will see it all on social media.}

30 Jul 2020 14:12:13
A agree. Some of the comments about Mikey johnston are a bit over the top and he is deemed good enough by management for first team. If these guys are to come through they have to earn it. Connell and robertson are up against Brown McGregor Ntcham Christie Soro and Biton. They may well save us money when it comes to replacing Brown and Ntcham inevitably leaves but right now that lot will take some shifting. Best option is surely to get some game time out on loan otherwise they will end up 22-23 without playing much senior football and will never develop. If they are better than we have got they will play.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 15:39:21
Henderson . Welsh are spl ready now mcinroy connell dembele Robertson oconnell not far away. seen some highlights of the boy afolobi during his loan very raw but a big battering ram of a boy another loan would do him well.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 14:15:17
Its a dream of mine to see a 1st squad built entirely from our youth development one day.

Ed did you see what Dundee and alloa have done. A partnerships thing?

We should be doing that with teams as every level in scotland and maybe couple down south. Get everyone of the bhoys that are at a level to good for development squad but not good enough for 1st loaned out to play proper football.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Definitely, Kev 👍

30 Jul 2020 15:56:33
Think the young crop look excellent and need more involvement with the first team, especially in the cup games, think O'connor will be good after his return from loan, afolabi should be definitely loaned again to get him up to speed for next season.
Could have some future team coming from youth system as we move forward and having the likes of cal mac and JF in and around them will show them that the opportunities are there if they put the hard work in.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 16:46:06
So with Welsh being apart of first team I take it no ch will be bought.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 17:48:17
And it's the quality in the under 17s as well pushing the Dev Squad on which increases competition. Just need to look at who some of the coaches are in the Academy - George McCluskey, Mark McNally, Miodrag Krivokapic and John McStay.

Sevco have a couple of decent youngsters coming through - Nathan Young-Coombes and Josh McPake.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 17:49:46
Rich t. we have Julien ajer biton hamed welsh. if we get one better than those mentioned great go for it. if ajer stays . imo strong enough for spl probably cl quals. problem arises if a massive bid turns ajer / boards head .

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 17:56:18
Kev, I reckon that's 17 players in the full squad who have come from Celtic development. Mark Hill (if he's still here) , Daniel Church, Karamoko, Scott Robertson, Jack Aitchison, Barry Coffee, Ross Doohan, Anthony Ralston, Ewan Henderson, James Forrest, Ryan Mullen, Brody Paterson, Conor Hazard, Stephen Welsh, Calmac, Mikey Johnston and Robbie Deas. A couple of the above, Coffee and Hazard were brought in from Irish clubs but still were part of the development process. 14 of the above are Scottish.

30 Jul 2020 20:55:54
jack aitchison is he still here, i heard he was upset at not getting more opportunities and was intending to look elsewhere.

30 Jul 2020 09:18:17
Ed. Do you think gutman and perez will ever get thier work permits. Or will we end up selling them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I can't see either getting a work permit and I think it's more likely they will eventually be freed.}

30 Jul 2020 11:08:27
Are the work permit issues down to a lack of personal progression Ed? Or were they maybe just stupid signings from the off?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They were definitely strange signings, Kev as it was obvious they wouldn't get work permits and it looks like they weren't up to the standards to apply for one under the "exceptional talent" route like we had to do with Wanyama.}

30 Jul 2020 12:35:25
Can you explain something please Ed? Does a work permit mean that they can't play football? I'm assuming they're being paid by Celtic so must have some sort of work permit?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Forgetting the complexities of Brexit the laws are basically if you aren't from an EU country you need a visa/work permit to do any job in the UK. Their contract with Celtic is just the same as anyone working abroad who is employed by UK company.}

30 Jul 2020 16:45:41
It's a pity as gutman looked decent last pre season. can we not now swap them for the other american were touted with.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I doubt it.}

30 Jul 2020 20:44:48
I think it’s too simple and easy to say that we should loan out a number of players . It has been the making of a few and the ruination of a few also . But look at E Henderson, he hasn’t improved any and if anything looks surprised and nervous when ball comes near .
Loaning out a play is full of difficulties, it can be hard to know whether manager of club he goes to, wants to play him, if he has a youngster of his own improving and both competing for one position.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 09:16:24
Ed do you think we will sign a CB I personally think we have enough coverage thier. Big elhamed can play thier if needed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I think we will sign another CB especially if Lennon is going to regularly use 3-5-2. Can we trust Elhamed to stay fit?}

30 Jul 2020 12:37:03
Definitely need another CB. I don't know much about the young guys in the squad but an injury to Jullien or Ajer would be worrying. I like Bitton but he's not as good as either of them imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 12:37:29
Think we could do with a left footed CB.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jul 2020 16:14:15
I think we missed a trick with veltman that Brighton just signed from Ajax . Only went for 900 grand, has played centre back and left back for Ajax, I seem to remember we were linked with him a few seasons ago.

{Ed007's Note - Hasn't Bayo done his hamstring?}

30 Jul 2020 11:54:37
He has but think he's due back next week.

{Ed007's Note - Cheers, Stevie.}

Big cosgrove has done himself a bad one. They need someone and we have one that needs game time. Get on the phone would be my advice.

Off topic away from Transfers and the start of the season, I was playing golf at Gleneagles today and bumped into John Hartson. What a lovely guy and whilst on driving range before playing he had some story's to tell and didn't hold back!

He is a proper Celtic man still can't believe Wee GS sold him haha! Said he was up for a few days as he is doing the game on Sunday. Some people say never
Meet your heroes and he was one of mine growing up and what a gentleman he was. HH.

The same John Hartson that wanted Celtic fans to lose there jobs for the so called Dundee Riots "If it was up to me, I would name them, shame them and SACK them".
He wanted supporters who travel everywhere SACKED from work.

30 Jul 2020 08:34:22
I've met him a few times Michael and yes a proper gentleman who is also very humble, remember him telling me years ago that the fans are more important than the players, resonates now in these strange times.

I asked him about the pressure off playing for Celtic and he said what pressure? It was a pleasure and fun to be involved in a club like Celtic. Pressure is signing a forum before an operation where there was a high chance i wasn’t going to make it. Even has a Celtic tattoo on his arm! Will upload a picture later of me and the big man. HH.
