{Ed007's Note - See if Celtic sign a CB tomorrow will you buy Yoda a new TV? Even if they don't it's got to be worth it the amount of your questions I've answered ya mad mental stalker! This time tomorrow I'll have owned this window like a Roc-A-Fella and you can all wipe your ar$e with Tw@tter in January! :-D

31 Aug 2017 12:18:44
Nice to see you finally UP mate at your usual near lunchtime self mate if my memory serves me right last window you were up really early that shocked us all

But I tell you what is terrible that you are depriving Yoda his new telly to date that is pure neglect lol Get the just giving Yoda's new telly started as Island Celt indicates :-P.

{Ed007's Note - I did intend getting up earlier to grab a shower and shave as I have the nurse later today but I woke up feeling like $hit and ended up nodding back off after a casual vomiting session. :-D

31 Aug 2017 12:51:29
Every sympathy with you this weather Ed

I have a muscle problem from my collarbone to my hip area. I start hydrotherapy next Friday it is sore as fook

Physio booked in both private and nhs til the new year

If your nurse is pretty giver her a cuddle for me :-D.

{Ed007's Note - At least you can watch TV when you're in your bed so you're getting no sympathy from me - or Yoda! Seriously though mate I hope you get that sorted soon, that's been a while you've been like that. I tore a muscle in my back years ago when I was on the tools and was laid up for about 8 weeks and it was brutal.}

Ed, as I'm no sure how it really works, is there likely to be people at Celtic Park right now still trying to work on transfers? As it's no the last night going to the wire yet, is it a pack up at 5 and go home for the evening sort of job? Excuse the ignorance if it's a silly question am just wondering if anything could be done this evening transfer wise or should a stop checking for something every few minutes!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - With phones, e-mails and faxes there's no reason talks on deals can't go on outside office hours mate but it would probably be tomorrow before there was anything official.}

30 Aug 2017 20:49:46
Hearing reports coming out of France tonight ED that a deal for the young striker from PSG is nearly over the line. Years loan with the option to buy.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It seems like it mate.}

30 Aug 2017 22:57:37
Hope there is the option to buy as well, his stats look good . Just hope we don't sell dembele now as apparently spurs r sniffing .

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There is supposedly an option to buy Odsonne Edouard next summer. I don't doubt there will be teams trying to get a deal for Dembele over the line tomorrow but I think they have all left it too late.}

30 Aug 2017 22:58:15
By the way Ed, congrats on the scoop before anyone had mentioned him.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate.}

30 Aug 2017 17:40:06
Ed007 we seem to be looking a lot at young French players is there a reason for this?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - It's all part of a cunning marketing ploy by New Balance for the future release of our first ever red, white and blue strip. Vive la France!}

For all the ones against loan deals, think of all the ones that have been signed on contracts, who turned out to be flops, why this desperation to throw money away?, unless you have 200million or what ever, to spend on Neyamer (who, by the way, I think will flop at psg, ) , i. e. money is meaningless to you, you are much better taking someone on loan, to make sure you are getting your money's worth, don't listen to all the hype, PSG are there for the taking, Bayern are a different story but PSG are just a collection of overated, overhyped, overpaid, want to be's, wish they weres, will never be's mixed in with a few genuine talents, who are paid so much money now, they are scared, if they break s fingernail, PSG are there for the taking.

Won't be gutted and although like most I would welcome a centre half, striker and goalkeeper I honesly don't think we will do any business.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

30 Aug 2017 19:50:06
I won't be too disappointed if we don't make any more signings.
If we can get our squad up to full fitness we will continue to dominate domestically, some of the football we have played over the last year has been excellent and I'd happily settle for a repeat this season.
We haven't sold anyone, so with the signings we've made plus Patrick Roberts coming back, we are on paper even stronger, our main aim should be to get the injured players fit and hopefully keep them fit.

30 Aug 2017 17:03:18
Ending the season i'd have been more than happy going into this season with the same squad. A few injuries have caused a bit of panic. If we can keep all our players we are so much stronger we have taken in Ntcham who already looks quality. Not forgetting players who have left. This summer for me was all about getting Paddy back and he has said Celtic tried to make it a permanent deal so if the right player becomes available we will try to get them. Id rather that than throwing cash away just for the sake of it. It wasn't that long ago i was screaming at the board to act like a big club and since we have got BR in i can't fault them. let's not forget aside from putting a very good team on the park since last summer we also have a new pitch to lay at CB, indoor pitch at lennoxtown and a hotel to build. Too many people in a panic over what the Zombies have spent, they needed to spend and they have spent their cash on garbage. Compare their new signings to the ones we made last summer. Night and day. Injuries to our CBs makes it likely we will add another player before the deadline so what is all the fuss about have a look at our squad. We ain't trying to be a PSG or a Real Madrid what we are trying to be is a good honest hard working team who play good football on a budget that doesn't put us in debt like most clubs in the UK/ Europe. We are in a good place, enjoy it.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

30 Aug 2017 17:30:43
I would agree with you on a few points Stan but in all honesty as we are a football club I'd prefer to see the best possible team on the pitch. If the team is to take a back seat to a hotel there is something seriously wrong . I appreciate we look at other revenue streams but how much would a hotel get us back? For me the team has to come first, realistically we have only signed ntcham as a major player this year. Any team that wants to improve should surely be looking at 2-3 each season or else you stagnate.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2017 17:51:34
WeΔΊl said SP19, even if we spent every penny of our Β£30 million from CL on new signings what does this guarantee? Absolutely nothing, it won't give us any more hope of splitting PSG and Bayern for 2nd spot. How anyone can complain about the position we're in at the moment beggars belief. Unbeaten domestically for 16 months, qualified for last 2 CL group stages what more can we do in the current football climate. Β£30 million is 1 squad player for 2 of our CL opponents . Some fans need a reality check and realise spending all the money we have won't make a huge difference to us in the grand scheme of things.

Agree2 Disagree2

30 Aug 2017 17:36:13
Stan, I agree, although would feel a bit more comfortable with at least another decent cb. Everything else, you are spot on, in BR I trust and PL too.

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Aug 2017 18:04:07
Thats the thing Quinn what's happened since we won the treble have we suddenly become a bad team that needs a major overhaul. 2 injuries, Dembele and Boyata has left everyone in a panic would everyone be screaming for new players if they had both been available during the qualifiers. I don't know what the Hotel will cost I know it won't be cheap but its what it will make the Club every year afterwards that will also help to put the best team we can on the park. I also think its a myth that spending x amount of cash makes it a better transfer window id take 5 Henriks over 5 Sheidts. Its about getting the right players in. People also forgetting how well Kouassi was playing before he was hacked into a 6 week lay off he will also be like a new signing. No matter how the next day goes we have improved our squad since May with the ins and outs.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2017 20:17:45
I would Stan, Boyata is good enough for our domestic football he will get his breichs pulled down in the CL as will Erik matet, I've heard this European football is a bonus for us, that's true but it's our only way of making money save selling our best players, if we are in it we at least need to give ourselves a chance to do ourselves justice and that requires us to sign a quality centre half to organise our defence and a striker to back up our 2 injury prone ones, we have needed that since last season and as usual we have left ourselves with little or no time to get these players, that is not acting like a big club in my books .

Loan loan loan

It about time celtic fans made there voice heard to the board for past 4 . 5 year the club has made millions in champs league europa league selling virgil van d etc but have spent nothing it about time players of at least 3 or 4 mill were purchased indtead of this loan nonsence.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

30 Aug 2017 15:50:07
What exactly do you want? It's already been admitted by PR that we tried to get him on a permanent move but City wouldn't sell and also agreed a fee for Coetzee before he failed his medical. A younger striker on loan makes sense because he'll only be a back-up to LG and MD and if we do buy a CB that'll be added to the Β£5-6M we've already spent on fees this summer.

Agree4 Disagree6

30 Aug 2017 16:12:30
Kevbhoy people want money spent no matter what. Could be anyone as ling as money spent.
Then when player doesn't work out they can moan about wasting money.

Agree2 Disagree10

30 Aug 2017 16:24:54
people want money spent on the CORRECT players kev, not unknown gambles, even if we spent 15m buying 3 quality players we would still not be anywhere near bankrupting ourselves.

Agree8 Disagree1

30 Aug 2017 16:38:24
Of course transfers are going to fall through or players may not fancy coming to Scotland; but I can't believe for a second - with a top class manager who has a long term plan - that the board pursue one player at a time then go back to the drawing board if or when it doesn't materialise?
BR must have had a shortlist of suitable candidates and targets for the past year or so, but here we are again fast approaching deadline day, scratching our arses waiting and hoping that we manage to sign CL quality players at the last minute - and it just won't happen. Will it?

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed007's Note - I'll 100% guarantee you that Brendan Rodgers doesn't have any lists of candidates short or otherwise.}

30 Aug 2017 16:59:33
There's still wages to be paid the cost of hotel new pitches upkeep of stadium the training ground, staff, bonuses and there's a lot of outgoings aswell we don't just stockpile all the cash for a rainy day unfortunately.

You'll need to join a csc mate n hope for the best. When u join one it should be a ballot between members, at least that's how it worked when a was going to away games, few years ago mind when it wasn't so hard to get a ticket. Most of the time it would be go round the club's in airdrie lookin for spares, took ages to get from one club to the second, jfp will know what a mean.

Hi ed . How many do u expect before the deadline? .

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - At least 8. A world class German LB in case KT gets injured, 2 new top EPL CBs at Β£17.5 million each because having 7 on the books isn't enough to beat Bayern Munich and PSG. We need to get in two new CMs costing Β£9 million and Β£6 million in case Brown gets injured or Armstrong is sold in January, a 'keeper that can defend his near post, a new No.10 in case Rogic gets injured and a 60 goal a season striker just in case Dembele and LG get injured. We should probably pus the boat out and get a new RW in as well so that we're prepared for Paddy going back to City next season but that'll be a push.
And people would still moan..........

30 Aug 2017 13:23:58
No RB Ed? ;)

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - No need mate, with Lustig, Gamboa and KT able to play there we're well covered and we can always play KT on the left wing and move Sinclair to RB. Remember Gareth Bale used to be a LB!}

30 Aug 2017 13:12:20
Lol ED, that would be magic. All kidding aside for me another striker as cover for Griffith's and dembele, definitely a solid center half due to the injury situation in that department and a new keeper would be fantastic but not holding my breath on the keeper lol.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - That would be a great window for me, Garry but I won't be holding my breath for a 'keeper. Next summer - possibly even in January to settle him in at the Club - a new GK is an absolute MUST.
Seriously though, I think there will be another two signings before the window closes as well so fingers crossed.}

Ed, it almost sounds like you're getting bored of answering the same questions all day 😊 Looks like we might manage to keep the squad we've got past deadline tho, think that would be better than any signing we could make. But a 17.5m cb would be nice.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'll be delighted when this window closes and Dembele's still a Celtic player.}

I think the reason we will be bringing a CB in on loan is that he will be a stop gap till Jan we will then bring Rivaldo in then once his injury has cleared up.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - That's far too sensible for on here, Marco, behave yourself.}

30 Aug 2017 12:10:05
So ED is the French boy still a possiblity?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I doubt anything's changed since last night.}

30 Aug 2017 07:44:49
Ed, the latest news we are getting is the French forward ( that u scooped ) and denayer back but unfortunately both on loan . Do you know of any reason why we only seem to be looking at loans . Paddy I would accept but surely we should be looking at something more permanent especially at centre back . Is it back to penny pinching?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'd be surprised if there's any truth in the Denayer link after the way he spoke when he left but I suppose it could be he's an option as the clock runs down on this window and if no other CB can be brought in, especially if Sviatchenko leaves. I don't see how it can be penny pinching considering we had a bid accepted for Coetzee and him failing his medical threw a spanner in the works.}

30 Aug 2017 11:28:30
Paddy is a loan because Manchester city won't sell him
The striker is a loan because the manager has already said he can't keep 3 top strikers
If the cb is a loan it's because our first choice failed a medical.
On top of that I would be surprised to see us going back for him at a later date.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Citeh were open to selling him, it is just no one would pay the asking price.}

30 Aug 2017 11:10:34
Coetzee was hardly breaking the bank though, even he was a gamble as he'd never played European level which is what we need. I was referring to linked with skeryel which would have been exactly what we need to a loan for a player we had before, who although performed well before, has been crap everywhere else since. Plus he had Virgil playing beside him who could probably make me or u look decent beside him πŸ˜‚.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Was there anything concrete in the move for Skrtel though or just speculation like every other Liverpool or ex-Liverpool player we've been linked with since Rodgers came in?
And don't forget, the Dembele signing hardly broke bank did it and that worked out OK.
Or should we just start paying over the odds for players just so fans can say we broke the bank and boast about the fees? Would Coetzee be a better player in your eyes if we were paying more for him? How well do you know the South Affican game or market to understand the value of Β£800k? 38% of South African Premier Soccer League footballers earn less than R8000 per month - that's about Β£470 with the top wage of R50,000 (Β£3000) per month only being earned by 9.8% of the near 200 registered players. We were paying R13.5 million for Coetzee.
What if we signed Duverne for 5 million Euros, by your reckoning he'll be a cracking player because of his price and yet he's only ever played in the French second division.}

30 Aug 2017 11:26:08
A lot of people saw the Coetzee fee as penny pinching as well Ed.

Certain fans won't be happy unless we finally break our long-standing transfer record because we've made so much money in the past couple of seasons. It's not an issue for me personally as long as there is a willingness to do so if the right player should become available. I like the sound of Duverne and he would be my preference for a CB coming in.

{Ed007's Note - We won't be breaking our transfer record this summer, Kev although Ntcham was our most expensive signing since Brown and Duverne would cost around the same.}

A fee or lack of fee means very little when they hit the park.
Graveson arou d 2 million fae possibly the biggest team on earth
Failure at Parkhead
Hartley free transfer after he fell out with hearts
Who would we pick first now?

What was the asking price they were asking for ed001?

{Ed001's Note - no idea, never asked, not sure how it matters?}

All I was saying was, that I'd prefer an established experienced centre back come in, we keep getting told that we have funds available for a big signing ( plus potentially a windfall from champions league again and impending vvd sale ) I understand our model is generally to buy young with sell on value but at European level we are a very young inexperienced side . I appreciate we were missing boyata Erik and jozo the other night but the way we imploded shows we could do with more experience. I appreciate we would be stronger with them around but we had them last year and still leaked goals in the group stages. It wouldn't surprise me if we had the worst defensive stats in the groups . Surely congerton would have lists drawn up with players available, and they can't all be in the million pound bracket or loan deal option. ( before we say we spent money on ntcham I'm really talking about the defender situation )

I also think as well as a centre back, we also need a right back think lustig has got away with it on so many occasions with his wayward passing and be good to have another decent player challenging him.

It's a serious issue that needs sorted. Lustig has looked a yard slower and his passing has been piss poor. I like the big man but time is no respecter of sentiment. I'm not convinced Ralston is the answer either. Anywhere near it. Remember KT came in younger, it's not about time. It's about ability and Ralston to me doesn't have it firvthecjevel we want to be.

We need to invest.

I would be happy with Ralston being the number 2 RB as I think he's going to be top player just like KT.

Did lustig look leg weary and loose of passing when he did his fancy flick for possibly the goal of the season and his late screamer in the hun skelping last season?

30 Aug 2017 15:51:45
Naw but can that be an excuse to keep playing because you done a fancy flick and scored a great goal against the Huns? No.

Last season is gone. We need to do what we need or we will get taken to the cleaners. Astana scored 4.

Just think about that.

As for Ralston? I'm afraid I see an Aberdeen or Hubs player. I hope you're right about him but he will never be in the class of KT. That's no going to happen.

We can't be comparing the young players coming through to teirney, he's a once in a generation player.

Sportsman saying we want to loan that French striker and Denayer again, should be spending money after reaching CL imo.

With dembele and Griffith's I can see the reason for bringing in a loan striker. What I am concerned about is the centre half situation. I really hope with the money we have we go out and buy a good quality centre half and not a loan deal for that position.

If we are going down loan avenue yet again it is a real slap in the face for a manager who has negotiated three tricky CL qualifiers two seasons running - bringing vast amounts of revenue (and exposure) which should be used in part to improve the team and address our obvious weaknesses.

Think so once a bhoy Didn't think BR was a huge fan of loans hopefully the bhoy Duverne (spelling) gets signed today on a permanent deal.

If this is true about the young French guy and denayer then we've been took for mugs yet again by lawell and the board! The money they've raked in from last seasons CL and will get from this year along with the prices they'r charging for CL packages and the best they can do is some young guy from psg and defender who's had more loans than sevco and who slaughtered Scottish football after the last time he was here! Shocking as usual! But I'm in no way shocked, same old Shoite! CL club, don't make me laugh!

3 loans after reaching the CL again would be pretty cheap. BR has already said he's not a big fan of them. Any truth in Denayer stories Ed?

Not a fan of loans either, but we tried to sign a defender only for him to fail a medical, which leaves us in an awkward position, so a loan might be the only option at this stage.

a defender from south african league for 750k isn't what most where hoping we would be buying with all the money brought in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Maybe we should have spent Β£3 million on an injury prone player who'd managed a massive 10 league games in Russia his entire career and what, 4? games for us in 18 months. The Coetzee fee was Β£800k btw.
Ever thought that Lee Congerton might have thought he had found a gem and managed to steal a jump by lining Coetzee for us?}

The defender from South Africa is a 17 cap international.

Reports now that Denayer won't be joining, probably see a few more names over tonight, hopefully anyway, think we need a ST and CB personally.
