Great team performance tonight, no complaints with the effort. Shows they're playing for manager. On a realistic side though we must realise we have to keep ball better. Really getting worried about johansens input to the team. Not sure what he offers at minute.
Plus sides are Gordon, brown although a little loose with passes and stokes were terrific. The 2 centre halves were decent as well.
Still can't see a pattern we play but at least we look like were playing for our manager.
1 point, thought their striker Eduardo looked really dangerous . Hungry and always in front foot. And ed, don't know if you have answered this but the other team in our group have some striker in soreno pardon my spelling. I've had a drink . How do they manage to keep him? Is he highly paid or just teams not fancy him? I can't believe the likes of sunderland newcastle don't go for him

Well back in the car grate game thanks to the team thanks to RD and a thanks to the GB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think we should judge RD on european games, they are easy to get the players motivated and het up about, RD needs to be judged on the bread and butter games in the league, I was happy when he got appointed, I thought it was a very far sighted appointment by the board, but to be honest, he has been a big disappointment in my eyes, I totally agree with the diet stuff, that's a no brainer, but his tactics, team selection
just bewilder me, I will give him to the end of the season but so far I think he is a guy who knows all the right things to say, reminds me of CG, of course not in the same way, but just in knowing to say the things that the masses want to hear.

Am just glad Ed your chin is like our goalkeeper NOT made of glass! ;-) because a have a feeling it is going to get tested tonight over CG mate lol?

{Ed007's Note - For one save? Give your head a wobble.}

02 Oct 2014 22:45:54
I know you don't rate him much anymore ed but come on it was more than 1 save lol he made at least 3 great saves to keep us in the game

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Let's not get carried away here, he made one cracking save but the rest were bread and butter for any GK.}

Ed 007, I've got a lot of respect for what you say on this site but I am in disagreement on you with Gordon, not on the long term as he has to prove he can stay fit for the season, not on the saves that as you say are bread and butter for goalkeepers, but on the one great save last night and am sure he pulled off a great double save a fortnight ago. If any of them had got by him we could be sitting on 1 point just now with very little to look forward too.

Great result not a great performace but i'll take it as the win was the most important the night. Craig gordon again had a stromer of a game and kept it us in it a lot of the time. Don't know about anyone else but really don't rate tonev at all that's a few times iv seen him now and not been impressed. We need crossing practice in training ASAP cause our delivery into the box from crosses and corners was terrible we never beat the 1st man once. Can't be 2 criticle we had a majority of the team out injured and obviously guidetti ineligble so getting the 3 points off them is a great result was impressed by zagreb some good technical players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

People have been saying mgregor had gone off his game but his poor game is better than both tonev and wakaso

Glad we won, but again. Horrible watching this lot

Believable1 Unbelievable0

100% agree! I'm not confident when we step out on that pitch anymore, gone are the days of us turning over Milan, barca, man utd, etc. that team we played tonight were average at very best and we struggled, just hope that the more we play under rd the better we will get .

Well delighted for the Manager and Team with tonight's result. 1st half we were good, 2nd half tired after 65 mins IMO. But once we have the level of fitness needed for the 90 min pressing game then I can imagine we will make other teams exhausted.

Cant wait for Lustig or Matthews to come back as Efe really does need some rest before he gets seriously hurt ( maybe not physically but mentally )

Stokes put in a good shift, but I honestly would say he is not a European class striker, happy with him on the wing. Just a pity Guidetti cannot play.

On my home from the match listening to radio scotland what a pr---k Tom English is can't or won't say anything good about celtic.everything was negative, even started to go through the legia games.he spoiled the good feeling I had regarding tonight's win .killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well he started of by saying{at half time} that dynamo were'nt as good a team as legia, who were the best team that celtic had met then changed at the end to saying were dynamo were the best team that celtic have met so far.

Tell you what bhoys n ghirls: its mental when tony stokes is your flair-player! No disrespect to the man; he's been playing very well lately.

Is it just me or is ambrose lethargic every time there is an attack down r right hand side. Think he needs a break when is Matthews or lustig back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Oct 2014 22:02:11
He does need a break he finished last season went to the world cup then straight back and placed the qualifiers without a holiday the guy needs a rest

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he done okay tonight, I'm his biggest critic but he was pretty composed no heart in mouth moments prefer his at RB even if he offers no real attacking threat keeps him away from CB!

It looks to me 65 minutes in that they have pressed the opposition to the point of exhaustion. Commons and brown look very leggy. Thoughts? Not a big fan of a 90 minute pressing game myself.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

This is what RD is saying in relation to fitness, it can get better and when it does it will be great for us.

The big Euro teams can press for 90 mins each game, twice a week.

Atletico Madrid are the perfect example. Not always pretty but it can be effective.

I've been seeing a lot of debate regarding players diets whether or not they are important.

I'm just wondering what the players diets used to be and what Deila has changed it to?

Can anyone clear this up for me please.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just wish the rest of the defence could improve and be as bad as some people say Craig Gordon is.

3-1 tonight Bhoys. Good odds at the bookies too, the win will fund tonight's bevy session!

I am glad to see more and more people are jumping on the RD train. Every game I see progress and we are adapting (slowly) to his style. Give the lad a season's chance at least before asking for his head.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I agree with you ShottsBhoy you just can't change a team that quick the second part of the season I think we will all see big improvements from the start of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

You must have started your bevvy early if you see progress every game. Here's hoping for a 2-0 win tonight with real tactical and technical progress.

I have just read ronny's piece in the paper
what he didn't mention was that Celtic are a selling club. As soon as players reach (or even before they reach) their full potential, they will be sold to the highest bidder.
The club have stated that they want to sign younger players with potential, does this mean the whole process starts again.
Fitness is obviously very important, but we won't compete in Europe just because we are fit.
I would like to hear more from the manager about improving players techniques ball control, and tactical awareness.
If fitness and diet are all that matters, you may as well go to the nearest athletics club and get 11 guys from there. They wil probably win the çhampions league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I also read the interview and was happy to read what his expectations were, what annoyed me, was the headline.on the morning of an important game the press are at their let's upset the celtic players and fans, no encouragement to win just the negativity we are always reading and listening to.perhaps we should get rid of Ronny and replace him with mr untouchable Sally who never gets a hard time regardless of what he says and does.paranoid.sorry killy.

Another impressive interview from RD here. It's like a breath of fresh air to hear a CFC manager talk so positively about our club and his vision for the future rather than just rhyme of soundbites and cliches the press and supporters want to hear.
He certainly doesn't seem to think we should be grateful just to get into the CL and he never once mentioned finances or how we can't compete with English teams in signing players. Has he ever blamed the referee for a poor team performance?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Common sense. The truth.
I'd love to hear RD's musings on the medias comparitive treatment of himself and McCoist.
The media definitely 'dumbs' down foreigners.
Dr Jo Venglos, Le Guen, even Wim Jansen FFS.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's only in the door 5 mins and one transfer window - the frustration with trying to sign players will come.

Always look on the bright side of life!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure where this Le Guen stuff is coming from? (Sorry Kbt I don't mean you

Where did he go when he left Rangers - bumped from PSG and then managed Cameroon and Oman National Team. that's it!

Can we all stop making assumptions that if Managers who were sacked had been given more time they would have been a success. There is nothing to suggest this and its pure conjecture.

The fans who aren't sure about RD and think he is out his depth need to have a good read at this article. This is what we have been crying out for from a manager in years someone who is looking at the bigger picture and actually wanting to compete with the big teams instead of just being happy being in the champions league. He's only just in the door and iv been more impressed about his visions for celtic than any manager in a long time aye he's not had the best of starts and made a few mistakes but this is a long term plan not a short term plan so he NEEDS time to try and implement these ideas and us as fans need to back the guy 110% there will be games when we get frustrated and annoyed but I really believe in this guy and hope every fan can try do the same. Mon the hoops the night HH

Agree1 Disagree0

Lou Macari, Liam Brady and John Barnes to name just a few are proof of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Outstanding interview and what he says makes 100% sense. This is a watershed moment for Celtic not just on the park. The crowds are waning because people are not being entertained, if the entertainment and performances improve then the crowds come back because they enjoy what is on show. A great point about facing Ronaldo 3-4 kilo's too heavy. We all look at these players and think "what if" instead of "why not". It all comes down to hard work and dedication. The manger and his team are willing to put in both, are the players? If not then get rid of them and fill the team with people who will do what is being asked of them. It is amazing that he mentions chips. I am stunned that a professional athlete would be allowed to eat chips. My 2 boys are in the pro youth system at one of the big clubs and they don't eat chips, don't drink fizzy drinks, don't drink energy drinks. it is basic stuff really. You put crap in you get crap out. I still think there are too many people at the club who think they are the best players in the world and that they cannot be told that they are not doing things right. The changes RDJC are making will shape the club for years to come as it will filter all the way through to the academy teams and mean that we should have much better players coming through the system. Well done RD.

Ed,no doubt the man's got a vision, pity these motivational speeches can't inspire his players,I like listening to his interviews, but being positive doesn't get results, P.S, why do u keep referring to, he doesn't blame the referee,PPS, I have finally decided to give him a season before making any more judgement on him

Gentlemen and MrsE, I agree it was a good interview. What RD says makes perfect sense. I do think that there are players not buying into the new regime who really don't want to put in the hard work n order to benefit themselves as a player and the team as a whole. It is a watershed moment as you have said. 2 issues. RD says all the right things but is he capeable of getting it right. It might take 2 years so if we as fans are willing to buy into it regardless of the performances and keep going to games and buying our season tickets then he might well have an outside chance. 2. If the crowds fall away, season ticket sales fall, no CL income, how long will the Board give him? We all know Lawell will chase every £. So how long will Lawell give him with reducing income? Let's see if they come out and tell us about the long term strategy so we all buy in or are they just going to do what they always do, keep their head down and hope?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Oct 2014 11:49:25
Johnny I agree players aren't buying into it or can't actually adapt and it's probably 1 of the reasons why he's had 28 different starters this season but he will need a good few transfer windows and backing from the board then we can really make a true judgement on him once he has his own signings instead of loans and he gets rid of the players he doesn't want. DaBhoy that's your opinion lol not disputing he's not a celt through and through and the treatment he received up here from other fans was absolutely disgusting but doesn't change my opinion that he was a poor manager lol

Agree0 Disagree0

It's great that he's trying to change players diets/fitness but it would have been good if he could have mentioned his tactics and general play so far as all our ills aren't down to fitness/diet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice sermon if a did not know any better a would say he would make a great. SCHOOL TEACHER! :-0

Agree0 Disagree0

Superb interview and delivered with real passion. The team have been poor recently but I feel we need to give the man a chance to implement his changes. He definitely needs another transfer window to get the players out who do not want to do what he wants and get some of his players in who will. It has been a very difficult few months but keep the faith folks. HH

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want him to sound good I want him to be good, that means results end of.

Agree0 Disagree0

The more I think of it RD is like a dictator, its my way or the highway, he's not a man manager, he has to learn that some of the best footballers that there have ever been cared more about their ball control than their diet, he has to get his priority's right, if the guy is good enough to play against the best team in the world, you should'nt drop him for a domestic game because he does'nt follow the club dietary regime, you have to talk to him, show him the error of his ways, give him a bit of leeway, but if he does'nt listen, then I would tell RD to show him the door.
