ED 007;Jeeze.you have created a monster mate! just catching up with the Thai Tims on you tube,have you ever seen kids spread joy like this in your life? Mrs Jhedi is sitting here bubbling her eyes out(not far behind if the truth be told!) at these wonderful kids.Many thanks for what you have done in getting them here. What gets me is they know every player,seeing Izzy and shouting his name before mobbing him,Legends!And going crazy when they spot Lenny! The Broony,they are sensational.Lets ram Paradise for them and bring the thunder just for them! JCGE of the Thai Tims! More than a club,so much more!...........green jhedi {Ed007's Note - There was a lot more important people that done a lot more than me GJ, thank you though. Hey ed, i dont know what you did to help the Thai Tims, but no matter how small or how big i just want to say good job not only to you but to anyone else who has helped and if you know ppl or could tell them say good job to them from all of use im sure. this is truley what Celtic is and what we are all about. this is out of Canada and i am glad and proud that not only to be a bhoy but to know that a wee man from Canada helped us out, i wasnt around at that time and know he took alot of heat but glad to see that he is better liked now the others problems(not too mention others that hepled to make Celtic what it is), and i just talked with me grandfather(who moved from Glasgow to here,who i am forever greatfull for him to introduce Celtic to me which we seem to have a greater bond then anyone else in the family, and i intend to pass it on throughout generations) and even not knowing the internet to well he knows of them and you can just hear the joy in his voice for this is what they do. they are more then just a fan club just like Celtic is more then a footballclub. i get choked up with the videos and i hope that the green brigade has something planned, but either way its going to be great for all.
Canuck Bhoy {Ed007's Note - Thanks a lot. Your grandfather sounds like a wise man with excellent taste in football teams.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I've just noticed something from the Celtic club statement on their new away strip

"The club's Irish heritage is reflected with green, white and GOLD colour accenting on the sleeves and the socks which reflect Celtic's strong Irish roots."

The Irish tricolour as we know is green, white & orange.

The Irish government has stated that the green represents the Gaelic tradition of Ireland and the orange represents the followers of William of Orange in Ireland, with white representing peace, or a truce, between them.

The flag, as a whole, is intended to symbolise the inclusion and hoped-for union of the people of different traditions on the island of Ireland, which is expressed in the Constitution as the entitlement of every person born in Ireland to be part of the independent Irish nation, regardless of ethnic origin, religion or political conviction

My question is why have Celtic refused to use the word ORANGE?
Surely they have not just deliberately exluded a section of the Irish community based on RELIGION?

W-Lyl

Its Excellent Looking

Vambo

Agree0 Disagree1

So, where in that statement does it mention anything of a tricolour?

The colours reflect the clubs links with Ireland, ya moonman! lol

Miko x

Agree3 Disagree1

The Irish harp is gold.

Agree3 Disagree1

W-Lyl, you need to get a life and stop nit picking and looking for problems where they don't exist.

Although the colours of the Irish flag are indeed green white and orange, with the green and orange representing two communities with white for peace between them, it is a commonly accepted cultural term to call the Irish flag's colours green, white and gold.

Agree3 Disagree1

I've heard the Irish flag described as both green, white and gold and green, white, and orange. In fact I'd say the shade of orange used is somewhere in between orange and yellow on some Irish flags so orange or gold is a good descriptor...green, white and orange-yellow doesn't have the same ring.

The question is though, who cares? If something is truly offensive or exclusive it's there for all to see. The problem of songs and banners being outlawed for being ever so slightly sectarian/politically offensive to 0.01% of viewers is bad enough without people going looking to be insulted. This is exactly the type opinion that would be peddled by numpties who say songs like the Hoki-Koki and are deliberately anti-Catholic.

Just watched the video of the Rangers' "faithful support" destroying the CP toilets whilst singing the most shameful, disgusting songs.

However, surprisingly enough, i didn't have the overwhelming feeling of disgust, I sat back with a huge grin on my face as I again feel vindicated in knowing and professing that "the Rangers" have the most vile, disgusting support in world football!

Still hope they're in the SPL next year though, we're gonna tow 'em for years to come! NewCo, new club, new beginings......and no history! Deid!! lol

Miko x

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Strathclyde's finest say they have arrested 1 but still reviewing footage and liaising with Celtic Park to identify any others involved in alleged vandalism within toilets.

Shame the officers in the video did not have the guts to radio for backup and arrest these "supporters"

DazzaBhoy {Ed007's Note - I had a rant about it last night Dazza. Terrible action (non-action) from the police there, I wonder if there bosses are happy with their officers.}

Agree2 Disagree1

I'm sick ranting about it Ed, They don't state anything about the (non) action of there officers but have said they will take action against those they can pick out in the video.
By taking action they are admitting what was happening in front of the officers was against the law!

DazzaBhoy {Ed007's Note - Exactly Dazza, the police have basically watched crimes being committed and done nothing until after the event.}

Agree2 Disagree2

ED007, Dazzabhoy talking to my mate on the force about this, and he says that although one or two policemen could not have arrested anyone on the spot by themselves, what they should have done was get help and stop anyone leaving, and then take all names and addresses, he feels this was not done at it would have taken policemen away from crowd control. I then asked why not simply lock doors, put two policemen guarding them, and when crowd disperse then go back and deal with offenders. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Sorry for the cut and paste Tim but here is my opinion on dealing with situations like that.........

As I suggested earlier Glenn send in 25 police officers, with another 20/30 standing outside, (the toilets at CP aren't that big), start arresting people, it is their job. If things get out of hand, some of the officers outside can go in to help, while the others keep every one else out. Arrest each and every person in the toilet a police officer sees committing a crime, march them out the toilet, hand them to another officer who gives his colleague his cuffs and then takes them out of the the stadium to waiting vans, the officer can go back in to make further arrests, then it is off to London Road station, mobile phones confiscated and studied for evidence. Charges brought against the guilty ones and that is it, the police and authorities have done the job they are paid for. It is a disgraceful situation and needs addressed ASAP. There is no police leave allowed on derby day so the lack of police manpower or fear of a riot starting is just making excuses. The police are there to control the crowd, they should be doing this without exception.}

Agree2 Disagree2

The police will have been breifed before the game to stand back and just gather evidence in any scenario where they would not be able to go in and control the situation.

This is why games now have a sectarian screening officer with the camera.

Evidence will be gathered and culprits arrested after game once they have confirmed the identities.

I know this as my bro is a police officer.

As a Rangers fan i also think such morons should be brought to justice...we do not need these idiots.

W-Lyl

Agree1 Disagree1

The police have no excuse on this one, They could have identified at least one person themselves and lifted them to show the others it wouldnt be tolerated. And maybe have dispersed the idiots quicker by realising the police were not taking any crap.

If i were on my own doing that (which i wouldnt) I would be hit with every page of the law book and then some and fined etc etc etc. But because its en masse it seems ok to let it lay and then go and get one or 2 later on, they could have arrested the whole lot of them and really sent a message that this sort of behaviour is not acceptable. But sadly they didnt and Its still worth the risk to these idiots to act in this manner.

A sad indictment on the police indeed! and also on the idiots partaking in said events.

Evinguu

Agree1 Disagree1

Have any of the Celtic fans who nearly set fire to the seats at Ibrox been identified?

TTG {Ed007's Note - Should't you be at a nuclear deterrent meeting or in North Korea trying to chill the wee chap out? I have sent a few fellow Rangers fans your way, it seems they actually don't seem to know what a fire is, it has ranged from your 'nearly' fire to Hiroshima. And I know the fire service is your speciality but this thread is actually about the police at football in general. Here is a video, just for you, feel free to use it as a learning aid:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW59whwm0Zk

Agree1 Disagree1

So eloquently put TTG! Were well aware that there ar idiots from every team in Scotland.

I find it hard to believe that the police would allow you to carry out a crime whilst they film you. I pay my taxes for them to stop people committing offences like that. Arresting people after the game does not get across to your zealots that this isn't acceptable. However if they were to be removed half way through a game in front of there dads, brothers or mates maybe this would halt there behaviour!

Is Bill Miller another shady business man ed do u know much about him? Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - I don't know that much about him, why an American businessman would want to take over a club in the SPL should set alarm bells ringing right away. Remember Bill Ng had to get his sons to explain the offside rule to him a couple of years ago but he started supporting Rangers after watching them win in Barcelona in 1972. It's smoke and mirrors mixed with some media spin and a pinch of BS.}
