Like 99% of Celtic fans It wouldn't have been in my thoughts to sign someone like Hayes. I'm sure the squad will be good enough by the time the CL qualifiers come round.

Barry Robson came in to Celtic and done really well for us if BR wants him and rates him then that's good enough for me.

Regarding Hayes, think some folk need to chill out! . If he does come and plays he will only stay in the team if he's doing well. Rodgers has made nearly all of his personell decisions perfectly. Look at his goalkeeper signing for example and how that worked out.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

03 Jun 2017 04:43:17
He hasn't. He made 5 signings last summer and 3 of them don't get a game.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 22:48:11
You know what is is underwhelming and I am not happy, but hey maybe this is just an addition to rodgers squad. For we know this may be a pawn in his armoury. I know that I feared him every time we met so he does have something. Maybe he will be good in europe. But one thing is that if by July we have two three quality additions we will probably look back away yep he was right . So let's see I am going to hold off my moaning and judgement guys.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

03 Jun 2017 15:21:00
he'll do a job in domestic games mick, giving rodgers the chance to rest the likes of sinclair for midweek champions league games.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 20:30:16
lol where is everyone getting don't mind buying spfl players if good. Bull man. I don't buy this. We are wanting to make a footprint in Europe. Paddy ain't coming so board and Rodgers top three signings was Hayes. Na sorry that ain't good enough. I know players need to go out also. But we living in Lala land if we think Hayes is European class.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

02 Jun 2017 21:47:39
Mick, if Rodgers wants Hayes then that's fine with me. Sinclair was a dud when we bought him and he done alright. In Brendan we should all trust and I'm sure that won't be the only signing Brendan will make, so keep the faith. Hail Hail.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 22:00:31
I agree with bigmik81 getting Hayes is like keeping GMS it makes no sense, he doesn't improve our team, I can see keeping our current stars will be the only coupe of the new transfer window.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 22:38:27
I'm disagreeing, think Hayes is a good player and potentially could be improved like Armstrong has, we should be looking at the top talent at home and abroad, what had vandyke, wanyama etc done before coming to us, If Rodgers wants him, why not.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jun 2017 08:38:52
Hayes is far superior to gms and he's proved it with the goals he's scored and assissts never mind possessing a heart as well.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 20:29:40
In no way moaning about Rodgers with no action. I understand we have just done the treble, but let's be honest I think Rangers Aberdeen and hearts will all be better next season which is good for Scottish football. But Rangers will be stronger, we can all slag and say oh they are soaking up the dregs lol, with likes of jack etc and possibly Logan.

Let's be honest they are good players ca pared to what they have in Scotland anyway. I don't like to think oh we walked it which we did, but complacency breeds problems. I feel likes of Armstrong should have been well truly tied up. And we are going for Hayes, sorry if we are ambitious that's not good enough for me. And no we should not have to wait until after qualifiers as then if and big we don't qualify things change massively.

And then the board will not sign anyone. The fans deserve top drawer players. We have massive money let's be honest. Boyata has to be tested not by hibs but by good teams. and simunovic are average. In Europe I do not feel confident with those two.

Paddy away and he won't be back. And Hayes if true as a replacement come on guys I feel we are carried away with this amazing season and quite rightly, but we need to be realistic Europe matters.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

02 Jun 2017 18:35:27
I think the fans who are already moaning about the lack of transfers are ones who think that we are in some sort of arms race with sevco, which we aren't. We proved during that season that we are miles ahead of them and we also showed that we are capable of performing in europe with the current squad. I personally believe that rangers will come second next season. They are bringing what seem to be quality signings, god knows where they're getting the money right enough, and also Aberdeen are letting go of their best players. I think that we should all be patient and stop worrying about getting players in early, I'd prefer we wait and get the right player instead of rush buying.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

02 Jun 2017 18:49:05
I don't see why we can't do both get the right players and get them in early in preparation for CL not the SPL.

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Jun 2017 19:10:58
I completely respect your point and in a perfect world that would be great but these things take time. Its easier for sevco to do it because they've pretty much got to replace their entire team with higher quality which isn't hard but after coming off the back of an undefeated treble we've got to be more tactical and pinpoint specific players who will improve what we currently have which will take longer.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 19:17:19
If we can't get the players in to improve what we have what's the point in signing anyone, the only real position we need to buy is a right winger, that's as long as we don't loose any 1st team players.

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Jun 2017 20:02:27
Unfortunately a lot of quality players we may be interested in to improve us on the European front will only be interested in joining when CL qualification is confirmed, personally won't be to fussed to go into the first round of qualifiers without any new players in.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 20:26:21
I think our squad are more than capable of qualifying without any signings. I do think we need a couple of players to get further than the group stages though.

Agree0 Disagree2

03 Jun 2017 15:16:00
Lol no one says we are in an arms reach but yes we are against the clock. As we are trying to compete efficiently in Europe. And yes a good business model or business gets business done fast. It makes no sense buying in 4 weeks, and I don't know where everyone thinks oh Hayes is just back up and there is real quality being signed. Eh well where. And if Christie is part of deal well I am unhappy with that. That is shite business sense to me lads. He young and has loads potential.

We know Rangers need a tank load but come on they are willing to spend one mill just like us on Hayes. I hope I am wrong but is the board using the fans love of in Brendan we trust, and oh we don't need anymore players this team are world beaters stuff until we are pumped out of Europe, then real pressure is on rodgers then.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2017 15:17:09
Rangers have signed 2 players who seem decent. Alves was great but at 35 no one is going to be on top form. The boy from Aberdeen is decent but would be on the fringes of Celtic. The rest are a gamble. Maybe good or bad only time will tell. As regards Celtic all we should be doing is brining in 2 or even 3 real quality players. Not Hayes in my opinion. Love to see us spend some serious cash on a couple of Scott Sinclair quality players. Then a run in CL might happen?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 17:21:56
Seems like the Johnny Hayes rumours have some sort of substance, I just hope young Christie isn't used as a part exchange it doesn't make sense at all. I like most of our support would love to see at least 3 or 4 quality additions. But my true wish is that Brendan has inspired several of our boys to really kick on this season and by this time next year I hope we are raving about another 2 or 3 of our boys really making the grade. I'm 100% confidant this will happen HH.

I'm just disgusted if this is true, expected so much better this summer.

Agree1 Disagree7

02 Jun 2017 17:37:51
Christie is 22, wouldn't say that we can refer to him as a youngster anymore. He's had chances and hasn't taken them. He obviously hasn't shown enough in training either. He's like GMS. Decent amount of talent but not got the heart or bottle to play for Celtic. Not saying I want Hayes either but I wouldn't be fussed if Christie leaves this Summer.

Agree4 Disagree2

02 Jun 2017 18:15:51
Got to disagree lm. What real chance had he had . use mainly as sub as team was playing well. scored 2 in 10 appearances. he also just won young player of the season at Aberdeen and scored 6 1n 13.the boy has talent and can play a few positions. He is also young enough to develop (isn't that one of Brendans main skills ) .

Agree5 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 19:52:35
Every chance Rodgers may sign Hayes it's a long season in Scotland as I've said before with no protectiion from referees it's not a bad shout and Hayes is a hardy boy. But absolutely no chance will Brendan let Christie go-the bhoy has talent and is definitely one for Brendan to nurture. ☘️.

Agree1 Disagree2

03 Jun 2017 15:15:51
Was going to say that Christie has not had that many opportunities to show what he can do at Celtic.

Gerry McCulloch. I have NEVER failed to declare myself as a Tim anywhere or anytime, i have even lost work because of it and i am sure i am not alone. This slimy little 5hitheel, who told us we were obsessed re the great liquidation lie, is head of Celtic TV? Not once admitted he was a Tim. Not on.

Huge congratulations to the celtic under 17s winning back to back doubles winning 6-0 against league leaders Aberdeen and beating sevco 3-1 at minty park to seal the title and CL youth football next season plus supporting the domestic game unlike the sevconians.

Epsom today and tomorrow, in the Oaks at 4.30 it would take a brave man to oppose Rhodendron if on top form, but the American horse Daddy's lil Darling could run into a place at 50/ 1 or if taken WITHOUT the favourite 33/ 1.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

02 Jun 2017 12:29:14
I've shoved a 5er each way and done the forecast 1st Rhodendron and 2nd Daddy's lil darling haha. Healthy return if it comes In anyway.

02 Jun 2017 09:07:08
Are we actually signing Hayes? Seems to be gathering some momentum. If we're not signing Roberts then I'd have Hayes on that right side over Forrest but I have to say I was hoping for better. He'll run amok for us domestically, but Europe? I have my doubts, and was expecting much more pedigree, just hope he proves me wrong.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2017 09:22:02
Yes - very underwhelming.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 09:26:07
Not impressed if true, this is the level of player Rangers are signing. Looks like we are still well and truely working out of the biscuit tin!

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Jun 2017 09:30:03
I'm not interested one bit in signing half decent domestic players. If there not European quality then we shouldn't be interested. We already dominate domestically so it's time to have a bash at improving in Europe now and Hayes won't do that. HH.

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 10:09:58
Paddy to Hayes. CL player? LC more like.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 10:22:17
It's looking more and more likely that Hayes is coming to the club so like any other new signing should be welcomed. I not a fan of him but he does show good pace and can find the goal from distance, two qualities that Celtic benefit from. A good thing as far as Celtic are concerned is Hayes will be over the moon to get a move to us and will be keen to impress. He will also be prepared to fight for a place in the team and wait his turn without spitting the dummy.
As long as we are not shelling out loads of cash for him it could work out OK for all.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2017 11:21:57
Still not convinced its true tbh, but if we get him for say 500k and GMS, and he performs as well as he did for aberdeen could be a decent squad player, in reality we need 2 wingers, cover for sinclair and replacement for paddy, think hayes would be cover for sinclair, not the champs league quality were looking for because sinclair has the LW spot.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 11:25:21
Altough no where near the level of paddy i think brendan sees this as a bit of cover. we're losing efe, cifti, allan, gms, probably oconnell, and a few more so he'll provide cover in the wide areas. and still think if paddy doesn't sign we'll try and get another wide player with a bit of class in brendan we trust.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 11:58:05
Wouldn't be my choice but I'll trust Brendan to do what he thinks rite, and I'll support the lad if does come in! But like Andy said, it's very underwhelming! Hope it's not a sign of what's to come, because this level of player won't get us anywhere in Europe!

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 11:59:40
He'll be a replacement for GMS, not Roberts. I'm sure we'll still be in the market for another winger.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 12:11:33
It'll be to provide cover domestically he's fine banged a few crackers past us this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 12:44:11
I really hope it is just for domestic cover. I'll judge the window properly when it's shut of course. Just wasn't the first name I was hoping for.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 13:18:05
All paper talk surely so when he goes to wolves or some other team they can spout all there usual posh about sevco signing all these superstars and we got snubbed.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 17:30:51
and why not sign the boy?
as far as i see rodgers coaching team improved every single player this season so why can they not get a bit extra out off hayes? if its age thing that's just crap . the boy has ability id go as far to say he's the only player apart from mcginn that caused us any trouble in games against them this season, so if the monies right then give the boy a chance i say.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 08:59:18
I accept the idea of Jonny Hayes as a celtic player. Fast, scores and makes goals plays on both wings. I question his age and true quality, it would mean the end for Forrest which i feel sorry about as he would be third or fourth choice.
I hope Ajer, Christie and Henderson go out on loan to a english championship club. This would develop them to a higher standard
I also live in the hope of PR returning.
Looking forward to a new season.

P. S. If Aberdeen lose Hayes along with the others who have gone already they will be a poorer team next season.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2017 11:40:17
Fair point regarding Aberdeen

Hayes
McGinn
Jack
Christie

All big players for them this year, a big loss and Aberdeen will struggle to replace like for like let alone improve.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2017 12:30:24
Hayes could be a great player domestically for us.

Maybe there is an ' old firm ' pact in play here to weaken The Sheep by taking all there best players?
Maybe Lawell finally realises it's all about Rangers?
