Ed, what was the poll about murrayfield backfiring about?are some people so afraid of celtic messing up they are going to use murrayfield as an excuse, they should have more faith, whatever happens it will have nothing to do with murrayfield.

{Ed007's Note - We thought the question was pretty straightforward and self-explanatory, obviously not. Any CFC fan knows that with our impeccable record playing away from home in Europe the qualifiers are but a mere formality anyway.
We've probably got a better chance of winning playing at Murrayfield than we would if the game was at Celtic Park.}

Did anyone watch the Celtic TV Google + question and answer with Ronny? The more I see him the more I am convinced Celtic have made a great appointment! It seems like he has a long term goal to make Celtic one of the most successful teams in Europe at bringing through player and making average player better he speaks very well and I found myself gripped to his every word he has a passion for football and he wants his player to have that to to enjoy playing for a team like Celtic and enjoy playing good football!
I really can't wait for the season to start!
Hail Hail King Ronny!

{Ed007's Note -

RD is impressing me more and more every time I hear what he has to say. U can see it is his philosophy and not just garbage coming out his mouth! Let's hope he can take us to the next level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes agree, just what we need something different.
I was glad after one question he never answered celtic was an influence, that would have made me cringe.
Good luck to him, here's hoping for a good organised continental style of play.

Agree0 Disagree0

This was really cringe worthy but watched it to hear Deila speak. Think I might have a man crush.

Think we have a Gem in young CALLUM McGREGOR, the experience he gained with Notts County last term will give him the confidence to go further and make an impression. Looking forward to seeing him develop over the coming season. Hail Hail

Agreed TTT , He got something like 14 goals in 22 games and was pinging them from everywhere I know that wolves asked about him when Leigh Griffiths deal atb

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope you are right but based on what has happened over the past ten or so years, we never have had much success with players who we had loaned out . It usually means the end of their Celtic career .

Agree0 Disagree0

Yourman I totally agree with your comment but I don't know why but I have a really good feeling about the new management team and the way they talk about developing our youth gives me great confidence that we will see some gems being uncovered. In Ronny and JC I trust and believe. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Tam Tim Like you I think we could well be on to something . We have loads of young players, some should be good to great, we have a decent first team squad and a bit of money for transfers . Belief in coaches is very important and our top two certainly have self belief .

Ed, am I right to assume when we get past rekyavik in the cl our next round will also be at murrayfield as cp isn't available for the league game on 9 august and 3rd qualifying is end July/start august?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Yes mate, if we get past KR Reykjavik the home game in the next round will also be at Murrayfield.}

Cheers ed, I'm not even considering IF we beat Reykjavik and I'm sure the site would go in to meltdown if we didn't beat them

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Don't even joke about that, we all remember Bratislava.}

You are right, if an experience manager like WGS can panic after losing an early goal or two, then surely so can Ronnie

I hope to God we have no shocks and everything goes to plan .

Agree0 Disagree0

D'you know what I don't get? First game of the season is postponed (probably won't be played until sometime midweek in December or January now) due to Celtic Park not being available, why not play it at Murrayfield or even reverse it with the first away game against Partick?!

I honestly don't know what to think of this whole Craig Gordon situation?

Aye, he was a decent GK at Hearts then earned a British record transfer (for a GK) to Sunderland, but since then he's been injury prone and average at best when he has played.

Under 100 apps in the past 7 seasons, without a club for over 2 yrs, several knee surgeries, working as a TV pundit, part time GK coach at Dumbarton, failed trials at Sevco and Hearts, most recently being linked with Motherwell.

Now, all of a sudden, he's our knight in shining armour to replace Fraser Forster? Looks to me like he was touting himself for any job going in the last 12 mths?!

What's everyone elses thoughts about him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hard one to fathom HB, I would prefer to remember him the way he was in the early stages of his Sunderland career and his brilliant appearances for Scotland but as you point out that was some time ago. Celtic must have put him through some severe tests and during his trial/training must have proved himself to earn a contract. We need to get someone in quick as I don't think big Fraser could keep himself awake during the forthcoming league campaign so I for one will be hoping he has proved himself to be a solid reliable keeper. We should have had a better no 2 in ages ago, I have never rated Zaluska-and anytime I see him in a friendly/cup game he never fills me with confidence. The thought of him, or Craig Gordon, who we Know hasn't played for years, in goal for one of these qualifiers is far from ideal. Hopefully Forster stays at least another year, if he keeps progressing he will be able to take his pick of big clubs, it's all about timing and I don't think many big clubs need a keeper at the moment(maybe Spurs if Lloris leaves) and I wouldn't mind Gordon as no2 with Zaluska finally leaving. But If the manager wants another keeper, say the Ghanian lad from his last club, surely to God we can afford it. Another thing, what does it say about Zaluska's character when he is content never to play, just pick up a wage and be a back-up. Show some back bone and go and progress your career!

HB a too have mixed feelings bout this he obviously fancies himself as No.1 because he turned us down before on that basis! , As a former keeper myself a never thought he was worth the money Sunderland paid for him but he is a great keeper on his game

So the only question is is he fit enough know that Stevie Woods is very very highly thought of PL says SW says "CG is spot on"

A certainly hope so atb jb7

Personally I think this is another ljungberg/juninho/ian wright scenario. signing a player who is more or less finished and has a disaster of a spell at club.

If its a number 2 we are on look out for, is this not a good time to promote/buy a promising youth goalkeeper?

Agree0 Disagree0

I too, am not convinced by all the media attention on this one - Craig Gordon was a good goalie - but now?

Is it true the clubs make money from havin their players in the WC? If so can you help ed as we had 4, and how much are we talkin?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know the exact figure we are looking at but CFC will make a minimum of £184,000 (£46,000 each) for Efe Ambrose, Fraser Forster, Emilio Izaguirre and Georgios Samaras participation in the group stages, regardless of how many games each player is involved in.

If their respective teams made it further in the tournament, each player would be worth an additional £1,650 per day to the club in payments.

This WC will cost FIFA a total of £41.5m to clubs for the release of players.}

Will celtic still receive payment for samaras due to being out of contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Contracts don't officially end until June 30th so Samaras would still have been registered as a CFC player.}

Celtic will get roughly £50k per player for the four players represented at the World Cup I'm sure?

FIFA paid the money directly to the SFA two weeks before the tournament started then they distribute it among clubs in our association.
