Pleased with RDs comments about Scepovic as I think there is a player in there. The problem is he is not going to get a game when we only play with 1 striker. The solution may be that they preparing for Guidetti leaving (hope not) or we go ahead with 2 strikers but will RD change his system to accommodate? He has already dropped Commons and played Stokes/Mcgregor (both out of position) in the wider areas. Now IMHO Scepovic and Commons are better players than the other 2. You would think that your team would be better by playing better players, now I know managers play players to suit system etc but Stokes/McGregor are playing out of position so it makes no sense.I also hope Biton gets 6/7 games now because he defo a player, is still young and can only get better. We will never find out unless we give him the chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Biton must surely start the next game, he was solid and composed v hertz.Nice easy passes and keeps the ball, almost the opposite of Charlie! And FFS keep stokes away from the corners!

Agree3 Disagree0

I have to agree with the manager here Ray. Sepovic has done nothing to deserve a starting place so far. He scored an important goal in Europe, although he also missed 3 sitters and other than that has hardly kicked a ball. RD would get shot of him in a minute if someone offered what we paid for him but he knows that won't happen so has to appear to be showing faith in the hope there is a player hiding in there. Stokes is no world beater but is definately a better option and his record domestically backs that up. Also reverting to 4-4-2 won't happen. He has spent months in training and games getting his formations and ideas across to the players, there is no way he will change it all in the hope sepovic might come good playing up front with JG. Again I think he's right, we struggle against most teams with 5 in midfield, imagine how well we would do with 4? It will end up going down as another bad striker investment, but makes the capture of JG even more important. Markie

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Biton and although he has only had limited opportunity, he always plays like he's a team regular - and that's the sign of a good player.
Like his countryman Kayal, he is good technically and better midfielder's than Mulgrew; although WGS and RD seem to rate Mulgrew in there?
Of the new arrivals, I would say Tonev, Wakaso, Denayer and Guidetti could all do a job, while Berget and Scepovic seem laboured and surplus.
Commons proved himself last season, but whether it's the contract situation or the system, he is clearly being affected and looks unhappy and I would not be surprised if he was sickened and left in January - with a couple of others that seem to be frozen out for one reason or another.

Gj on the corners thing, what is it with strikers taking corners. They should be in the box waiting for the ball coming in.
Is it me or does anyone else think Stokes has a "place to hide " by taking them??

Agree0 Disagree0

Stokes has been told to take corners by RD, your guess is as good as mine.

Agree0 Disagree1

Commons has done nothing this season to justify his selection . He either hasn't recovered match fitness after any of his injuries or else he doesn't suit Deila's way of playing . Mc Gregor has slipped back after a very promising first month . Stokes and Griffiths are both reasonable, I don't think Stokes is ever better than reasonable . Forrest is looking dangerous without ever recapturing his very best form and hasn't created enough clear -cut goal chances . Johannson looks a very good player, playing as a very attacking centre midfielder . His energy which means he links the whole team together from start to finish . Deila has a wee problem coming up as no doubt Manchester City would want Denayer playing regular first team football, yet Ambrose has been very impressive in his last two games . I am a wee bit disappointed with Matthews, he is a long bit short of his own high standard . It was good to see us beat Hearts on Sunday without relying on Craig Gordon saving shot after shot, 😆

Agree0 Disagree0

Biton dropped, can't believe this thought he deserved his chance and would a sent a message out to players esp mulgrew.@ Chris02, re Commons this season- I thought scoring 32 goals last season would be indication enough that he a top player. He also scored the best goal this season for me against Zagreb with that step over and return from stokes. What he can guarantee is goals and assists. No other player can do this. Yes I like Johansson but Commons in that role would out score and out assist him every day of the week. Johansson would only out work him. As for Scepovic the guy was given his chance against Astra and next game only to score in each game then to be dropped.Whats the point in paying 2m + for a striker get him up and running and scoring then drop him and not seen since.

Agree0 Disagree2

Rayman, comedy gold mate. Commons has been shocking this year and doesn't deserve the bench.

Who cares what he did last year, this is now and he has flopped big time. 1 good goal this year is not good enough.

Johanson is fitter, passes when players are in better positions and will outscore and outassist Commons with ease. Wait a minute, he already has this year

Agree2 Disagree0

Well said Kev T regards Johansen. I didn't rate him at first cause I thought he was inconsistent, but he has been one of our best players this season. Deila obviously knows how to get the best out of him and can see him developing futher

absolutely agree Kev T commons scored so much last year cause he never looked for a pass meanwhile johanson is always looking to play others in and as other posters say he links the team very well together. commons also isn't fit enough or just isn't interested enough to close down opponents

dont understand bitton out for mulgrew. already at least 4 shocking moments where he has gave up possesion under no pressure

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems to be a theme on here that we just slag off the POTY. Last year it was Mulgrew now it Commons.Kev I wil bet you anything you want if Commons stays till end of season he will outscore SJ. He nearly scored mins after coming on because he gets in the right areas.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ Keiran, so you are criticisising a player scoring 32 goals in a season because he doesn't pass it? Are you serious? The very reason he scored some of those goals IS because he doesn't pass it he scores instead, that's what goal scorers do mate. @Kev just noticed that both KC and SJ are both on 5 each as I wasnt sure. Not bad considering SJ played a lot more games.KC has 71 goals from 133 starts, I bet SJ would kill for those stats after133 games. We defo could be doing wi more players wi those stats but we prefer to criticise them.

Agree0 Disagree1

@Rayman I don't seem to remember you being on here saying we should sign Kris Boyd, he's got even better stats than Commons so he's exactly what you're looking for in our team. You didn't mention the year Commons scored one single goal in 33 matches for us in his first full season for us, should we be looking for players with that stat as well just because Commons done it?

Agree0 Disagree0

@AM that's his career stats at Celtic mate if he only scored 1 goal in his 1st season it just shows how well he done since. He still on a par with SJ with much less games this season (and that's him unfit?) imagine what he could do fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

it doesn't look like he will get fit though. counter attacks especially where commons tends to be a let down. if you look at the bigger picture i.e teamwork, chances created, decision making then your stats don't match up

glad rd sees that johanson is better for the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Rayman, I like Commons but his best years have gone and last season was a one off.

He has never had the legs for the game of football RD wants to play and now in early 30s he will have even less to offer.

He has ability no doubting hence RD wants to keep him, but we can't fit a team around him as we cannot afford to have other players make up the workrate lost in having Commons playing.

Its always tough to see a fans favourite move on but I would hate to see Commons become a serial sub. I think Johansen will become a better player than Commons and he has the engine to keep it going for 3 games in a week.

Agree1 Disagree0

Rayman in successive games Stokes created clear chances, both within two yards of the goal line for both last year's POTY and Virgil from corner kicks
We can hardly blame Stokes that both these players missed sitters .

Agree0 Disagree0

Commons can't hack it this season, he is a pain in the arse, moaning to Deila about not been selected . He has neither the ball control or movement to do the job Deila wants him to do .
If it is true that he wants a three year Deila, I for one am glad that P L has refused him . He has always showed a lack of fitness and I think he is over the top. Pity because last season his goal scoring was magnificent.

Been first to criticize in the past but delighted at RD's comments about Tonev and going to CAS etc as I thought / said from the off this would appear to be one man's word against another and as articulate as RD is he is right to defend Tonev as I indicated Celtic would have been legally well represented ay that hearing and they would NEVER subscribe to defending Tonev if there were proof!

so well done RD too many people want to get the boot in to us big plus to RD for me👍👍

Maybe they will release any evidence or findings after the appeal process maybe there is a witness that may have heard what he said??if he did say somethin that's is tricky 1

Agree0 Disagree0

Ryan I think if that was the case then celtic certainly wouldn't make themselves a laughing stock by appealing all the way to court of arbitration would they?

With yesterday's poll saying 67% of fans want the board to pull out all the stops to sign Guidetti.
I hope it does not come down to money (it will if his agent has anything to do with it) but looking at what Celtic can afford to offer him probably £30k weekly, big signing on fee, bonuses for goals, appearances, also image rights will come into it.
Reading also about Scepovic, we spent over £2m on signing him plus he also will be on circa £15k+ weekly, I cannot help feeling if we had that money still in the pot we would have had a much better chance with Guidetti. I realise there is a wages ceiling but with an extra £2m Celtic could have upped his signing on fee, bonuses etc.
what are all your thoughts/ideas on Guidetti?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

The problem with pushing the boat out to sign Guidetti, is that I feel we need 2 or 3 other players as well. If we were to pay him £30k per week, would that leave anything else to buy other players?
I would like to sign him, but I think if he gets too greedy, we should say no, as I don't think Guidetti on his own would mak us the finished article.

Agree0 Disagree0

We seem too have got it wrong with Scepovic and Berget for that matter but while Guidetti is scoring regularly - and clearly enjoying being here - it is hard to see why we would not make an effort to offer a contract.
Unfortunately we have a surplus of forwards (either on the books or loans) to sort out and free-up cash.
Stokes, Griffiths, Scepovic, Berget, Wakaso, Guidetti, Balde and Pukki off the top of my head - maybe more?

Agree1 Disagree0

Think there is a little perspective required with Guidetti - all of his goals have been domestic and around half have been penalties/free kicks. Some people are getting a little carried away here!

Agree0 Disagree1

I really hope he signs. If it comes down to a signing on bonus surely we are able to increase this and offset it by selling a couple of the current strikers like pukki/balde/fridjonson.

if as ed says he is on about 12 k a week just now then surely we could double that no bother. I wouldn't like to make him the highest paid player but if that was the difference between him signing and not then its a no brainer really.

Agree0 Disagree0

as I said a we while ago if we didn't sign guidetti and wanting to sign a similar player with the qualities he has then that would cost 4 or 5 million plus wages so I don't see how we couldn't offer 25/30k a week if needs be which would work out at 1.5 million a year say on a 4 year contract gives the board a big sell on fee (seems to be the policy) cause he will only get better

above poster says half his goals is pens or free kicks but his movement creates space and he brings others into play as well

going by reports another plus point is he seems to love it here and a character in the dressing room is only another plus along with someone that excites the fans

Agree2 Disagree0

I think the reason some are 'getting carried away' are because we have been short of a 'poster bhoy' since the days of lubo and Larsson for the fans to get excited about and although I agree he still has a bit to prove - we could do with a couple of entertainers at Celtic.

Agree1 Disagree0

Cant believe the statement .3) about this person's view on guidetti we're getting carried away about a young striker scoring roughly a goal a game but then again it's only domestic goal's he's scored right pfft because he's been fluffing all his shot's in Europe? and me personally I wouldn't give a monkey's if he had a goal a game ratio and they were all free kick's and penalty's we have a real chance in signing a quality young striker we should push the boat out if he continued scoring like he has done for us we could sell him on when the premiership teams come sniffing for a big profit but we have to speculate to accumulate as our current business model dictates.

Agree1 Disagree0

Jungle Jim I hope you don't mean that we have to get rid of all the players you name as surplus, if we do we will be a bit scarce of strikers and wide players .
Maybe we will play the traditional SPL formation 4 5 1 .

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think fans are getting carried away, possibly just excited at a new face banging in the goals regularly!

He seems to love the fans too (he has been the same at his past clubs) and fires up the crowd where possible.

I am all for spending extra on him and releasing some of the loaned out strikers to free up some cash.

I am delighted with the way we have grown and adapted to RD philosophies and the team seem to be gelling and putting the performances in. long may it continue!

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree we are crying out for a proper 'number 9' 'poster bhoy' call it what u like?! But he can't sign a contract until after 31st of December so we can't offer him anything at the moment (at least not officially). He may well turn into the superstar at Celtic we all hope he will be - but to be chatting about paying him £30k a week after 11 goals is over the top! Stevie May was banging them in left right and centre against the same defences last season - he would of been lucky to get £5k a week at Celtic because there is and was still an element of doubt with players banging them in in the SPL and of players at that age!

get what your saying about stevie may but commons got 32 goals last year and none of us are over excited with him even when he was banging them in cause he was always looking for a shot. what i'm saying is its not all about the goals scored its about everything else that comes with guidetti

im not saying to give him 30k either I was giving an example it would work out at 6 million over 4 years with a minimal compensation fee to city. could we find a better striker for those figures? on recent forward signings it could take another 7 signings before we find a proper talent

Agree0 Disagree0

At the end of the day guidetti is finding the back of the net and that's what club has been missing so what's the problem?
