We were not at our best in the first half today and were a little fortunate to go in 2-1 up at half time, 2 great opportunist finishes, our midfield were not at the races in the first 45, but a far better second half showing and a deserved win in the end, young Roberts should be playing more games .

I think we are doing Hearts a disservice (not that I care) as I thought they played really well in the first half and moved the ball really quickly. As a result we were finding it hard to close them down.

However, in the end our class proved too much for Hearts to handle and the longer the game went on we began to dominate.

Even if ee weren't playing for the counter, we certainly capitalised on the opportunity to play that way with the last two goals. We certainly deserved to win yesterday.

I cannot believe anyone, certainly not a Celtic fan could say we were lucky going in 2-1 up at half time . Only in the world of Madden, Thompson Callum etc could the referee not give Celtic a free kick in the build - up to the goal that was allowed for Hearts . I thought we played cleverly and well yesterday and R D has got a performance he was looking for . Many of our players played well most of the game and even the much maligned Brown was very strong helping out our defenders in the last 15/ 20 mins .
We have various different opinions about R D but in my opinion he has introduced Paddy Roberts perfectly to the ist team . Matches with the development team, cameo appearances accumulated to a very good performance yesterday, not only from Paddy, himself but from the way his team mates timed and placed their passes . Stefan was brilliant particularly 2nd half, his work rate and vision are both top rank .
R D has a problem, 2 of our best players Johanson and Rogic are best playing behind Griffiths and neither are as good elsewhere.
Fair play to our Danish Centre half as their is not that many of this in the new modern world can become father's at dawn and go to the game and support at lunch time, where he actual became a father at. 6.30 and played for Celtc at 12.30
Funny enough his girlfriend who is a Celtic players isn't just taking a few hours off but isn't going to play until July . It's a girl's world.

RE @Old Bhoy - Was not a vintage Brown performance but he played a lot better yesterday than he has done since his return from injury. Was pleased to see signs that he is improving.

Its funny oldbhoy you fail to mention Browns two footed challenge but moan about a slight nudge that may or may not be a foul lol.
Their boy got sent off for less, but that doesn't suit your conspiracy theory. You really do live in the dark ages mate.
You don't even realise when the ref done us a favour.

Listen Rayman it's a well known tactic by the anti Celtic referees Madden Thompson and the rest to bolster their statistics in relation to Celtic by giving a decision after the match is won or lost . Yesterday's sending off was one such decision . That thug should have been sent off for his elbow / head attack on Rogic and of course his team with a double slap on Griffiths face around the same time .
It's nice to know Rayman you seem to have the same love of Celtic as Mc Cann has because he spent the whole game looking at repeats to come up with something .
Celtic are so lucky to have u and McCann to keep our players under control.

Oldbhoy you are defo paranoid mate, but hey watch out their all out to get u lol.

Off the top of my head Madden is normally ok to us isn't he? Sure there will be bad decisions people could give examples of - the lot of them aren't cheats chris, just incompetent. But I usually find Madden to be alright. As Rayman says, Brown could easily have seen red another day, and if Madden really was looking to stain the game, he wasn't presented with a better opportunity to alter the game really.

It seems that the last minute save screamer from Rogic has given the team a new set of confidence. Since the defence seems so much balanced now, players like Roberts don't have to run back as much. Kudos to the team not buckling after 0-1. This is much more like the football i know from Deila, not quite there yet but a whole lot better. It will get better even.

Looks to be doingoing good things at wigan

Aye he must be up there wae warburton noo.

03 Apr 2016 09:14:09
Steph I think that's a bit harsh! How can u compare gary maldini to war burton?

At Wigan In league one he is a bigger club, with a bigger budget, more experienced players on higher wages and is expected to win the league. I could do that job with my eyes closed.

Warburton in championship is a bigger club, with a bigger budget, more experienced players on higher wages and is expected to win the league.

Oh wait. Your right!

Gary Caldwell for manager of year! :)

I wasn't talking about now or next season or any time soon.
Just ment he seems to be doing well and if he continues to improve COULD be a good shout in the future.
That's all.

Marty you know you just described the Celtic managers job. Biggest club biggest budget by miles and bigger and better players with European and international experience so just remember before you knock any managers achievements in other leagues your own team is the only horse in the race the rest fell at the first hurdle. I do not want Caldwell anywhere near Celtic and the bread man is severely over rated but you can't knock caldwells achievements purely because he's in a league where his team is the biggest/ best.

Afternoon Ed

Happy with result

PR very direct ( everything we hoped JF could have been )

Great goals

However the defence ( 1st half ) was abysmal as a unit

Midfield just about non existent. Credit to TR for hustle and super through ball for cute PR finish but lots to Worry about

For me the weakest department is middle of the park. No rhythm. No swift tackling. No pressing. Limited passing ability

Our captain is a shadow of his former self ( 2 years ago )

I think we will fall over the line

Today ( if we're honest ) could have been dropped points. Hearts were more cohesive 1st half and looked like a well drilled team. We weren't

But we won (phewwwww)

During the live chat I was concerned about our lack of closing down, weakness in the tackle and inability to pick up runners.
However, compared to many recent games, we looked a threat in front of goal and had some good link-up play going forward.
Roberts, Rogic, Griffiths and GMS were creating chances while Tierney was again showing why he is a potential POTY.
I think we all know there are areas that need work and improvement and there are still a few like Brown who are struggling, but this was a decent win against a tough, well organised opponent and if you take into account the saves their keeper had in the game, in comparison to Gordon's - even allowing for our apparent weaknesses - we could have been out of sight after an hour.
OK, It's not all rosy in the Celtic garden, but when we go into some games more in hope than expectation these days - it was a very good result and will do the confidence no harm at all.

I thought johansen deserves credit for today, he tried to do 3 people's jobs. Ronny should've taken brown off, everyone could see he was off the pace today. Is that the first time boyata and Erik have played together? I agree they were poor first half, but did improve. Is Mikael lustig actually 70 rather than 30; can hardly move.

I think hearts were good today, don't know why they stopped pressing as they were causing problems. Djoum seemed too strong for our midfielders, was impressed with him!

I said I was happy with the result

But no I wasn't pleased with the ". Performance " it's feels like an eternity when Celtic last played a solid / good 90 minutes

The Rangers came could be a struggle because of performance in that we have almost forgotten what it looks like too see the basics done well in respect of defence midfield and attac
I'm a realist these days. We're not competitive in Europe and I can live with that

But a domestic dominance and swagger? Surely I mean surely?

Paradise lost . You posted that our defence was abysmal and our midfield was basically ineffective.
I find it hard to reconcile your description of defence and midfield with the fact we only conceded one goal which in fact should have been disallowed.

It was a very good competitive game against a very improved team, but we showed a lot of improvement too today, with good performances from most of the team and exceptional displays from Roberts, Tierney, GMS and Rogic - before he was injured.
Hearts had a lot of the ball, but we created much more and should maybe have had seven or eight if it wasn't for their keeper.
Hope Rogic will be OK for the remaining games as he looked class.
If that was a sample of what Roberts can do in front of goal, he will be a huge hit with team-mates and supporters alike.
Well played Celts.
