With Barcelona receiving a transfer ban that means we can count them out of bidding for Forster and Mulgrew to replace Valdes and Puyol.

{Ed007's Note - I expect a successful appeal will happen before the summer. I was delighted to read it, it's about time people were hearing about the way they go about their business and seeing them punished.
If only Dr Eufemanio Fuentes, Dr Luis Garcia Del Moral and Lance Armstrong hadn't been made the fall guys and the court order blood bags destroyed the real truth would have came out. Remember Messi would never have been a footballer if he hadn't been given HGH (illegal in both amateur and professional sports) when he was a kid, a treatment that was agreed as part of his contract (written on a napkin) when he was 13 and paid for by Barca to the tune of $900 a month.
Both River Plate and Newwell's New Boys turned down the chance of the same deal over the questionable methods. It all boils down to the fact that without the HGH Messi would never have been physically mature enough to play football.
The whole case involving the doctor's could have destroyed Spanish football on an even bigger scale than the 2006 Calciopoli scandal in Italy. Barcelona wouldn't have been the only club panicking about the court cases and heaving a MASSIVE sigh of relief when the judge ordered the blood bags be destroyed. }

Note to ED:
Please excuse my ignorance, but what is HGH. Re messi.

Thx

{Ed007's Note - Sorry mate, I thought I had mentioned it. It stands for Human Growth Hormone and stimulates growth, cell reproduction and regeneration. It can cause major liver problems, increase the risk of diabetes and contribute to the growth of cancerous tumours amongst a host of other medical/physical problems.}

Che
I bet Barca are devastated at the prospect of losing out on Mulgrew. I heard they were planning to build a whole new team around him and James Forrest! lol

Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

James Florist isn't even good enough to be a ball boy for Barcelona. His poor ball control has let him down on more than one occasion - and not just on the park!

Agree0 Disagree0

James forrest reminds me of the days when brian mclaughlin played for celtic in the early 90s. Utter pish. It will be a slippery slope down the leagues after celtic

Agree0 Disagree0

Is HGH a similar treatment to Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) that's recently been banned in MMA?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - As far as I know they are very similar.}

Well DN30, it will please you no end to know that Brian McLaughlin is now the head coach at the SFA Performance School in Glasgow. He is responsible for bringing through the next generation of players to hopefully give us a chance of qualifying for a major international tournament. The kids basically give up a subject every day and spend the time being coached. It is a 4 year program that is in it's 2nd year.

Think most of us agree the squad is needing a bit of quality rather than quality this year would like to see Celtic go spend there budget on miby two players think we just lack in the final third as we have the best back line for years! An attacking midfield would love to see filip duricic from Benfica there has been a bit of interest there would miby costs about five million! Fantastic player would be a real coup if we could pull that one off! Would then like to see the rest of the budgetsspent on b European striker don't quite know who but badly needing a bit of quality up front!

I watch St Pauli as much as I possibly can, and was over at the Greuther Furth game and party that weekend. They've got a fairly young side at the moment, and there's a few I who've caught my eye this season and I wouldn't say no too. Marc Rzatkowski, plays through the middle or either wing - got plenty running and can spray a pass. Sebastian Maier, another attacking midfielder who can grab a few goals. Fin Bartels, LW + top goalscorer but he's already signed a Bosman with Werder Bremen. Philipp Tschauner, not exactly the youngest (think he's mid to late 20's) GK but he plays like a sweeper and is a solid shot stopper!

I was quite annoyed to read about Leigh Griffiths' "mammoth" fine for singing about Hearts but it's perfectly acceptable for Peter Lawwell, the main man at our club, to crack jokes about Rangers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I’m in full Celtic apologist mode today but I think the way the Club have acted over this is acceptable.

This is Griffiths recent history :-

He has served suspensions on three separate occasions as a result of notices of complaint issued by the SFA while he was playing for Hibs.

In December 2011 - he received a one-match ban for gesturing at Rangers supporters during a 2-0 defeat at Easter Road.

January 2012 - one-match ban when he gestured at his team’s own fans as Hibs won a Scottish Cup tie at Cowdenbeath.

Later in January 2012 - banned for two matches after making a one-finger gesture to supporters as Hibs lost 3-2 at home to St Johnstone.

Griffiths has also regularly courted controversy off the pitch, including being charged with an alleged racist tweet in February 2013.

The Club have said they will defend him against the SFA charge but asked him to apologise. I don’t know how much the fine is, for all we know its a tenner.

If it was the first incident then fair enough but it isn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Each incident listed above, Griffiths deserved to be punished. Just can't see the fuss about hearts saga.

With his reputation, lawell should of known better and avoided signing him. It was a certainty some scandal would arise and I am expecting more incidents to occur.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't see how the club can fight the SFA over this if they have seen fit to punish Griffiths and apologise to Hearts, it's like your lawyer telling the judge you're guilty but your mam skelped your bum and grounded you over it.}

Och you could debate it 'till the cows come home but the Club have fined him and are on a 'collision course with the SFA' as the Record so eloquently puts it.

That's exactly what it is from the Club, a skelped backside.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I doubt we would even have heard about the club's stance without the NoC.}

Hi Ed007, I'm pretty sure that part of the reason for his attitude is the fact that the skelp from his mother is years overdue. However, I'm also sure that there are plenty of folk throughout Scotland who would gladly volunteer to take her place but it wouldn't be his bum they skelped.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, I may be wrong but I feel that you're just loving every possible misdemeanour to sway your biased view towards why LG shouldn't have been signed. I find it strange as I feel you would be a person, who in 9 times out of 10, would defend those subjected to various hassles through media/fan base etc. Seems you don't take too kindly to LG for what ever reason when there are many instances from PL, NL to current playing staff who have besmirched the club at least on an equal level or worse but seems to be ok

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If you read through the posts Stevo you will see that I have said that immaterial of my opinion of Griffiths I think this is a ridiculous situation and the club are at fault as much as the SFA, all Griffiths is guilty of is naivety and hopefully he will learn that ANYTHING he does is going to be highlighted by the media now that he is living in the goldfish bowl.
At least try reading things before having a pop eh, you're better than that.
I have mentioned why the club are at fault IN MY OPINION, is that OK or is that going to be seen as me moaning about the board etc again?}

Probably not or folk fishing around in archives saying 'what about this'. I like a bit of banter and an online nosey as much as the next person but sometimes I do despair.

Maybe a couple of weeks in the hills with no Internet would do me good. It's this mass hysteria the minute Celtic release a bit of news, any kinda news at all. I know it's a talking point but just sometimes wheesht!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I hate people who play whataboutery, it stinks of a zombie disease that they have used for years to justify their own club's problems with the the rancid members of their support.}

Sorry Ed, as Mrs E has already pointed out, LG has been punishged several times for 'naivety'. Had this taken place in a private clb etc. where members are registered etc, then there is no case to answer. However, this was (once again) and public and regardless of which club he plays for is inappropriate and whether he likes it or not, in public e represents the club he plays for. Celtic are a large club and his actions are relevent to this. The club should take action and the SFA should butt out as he was not reresenting them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't win can I? If that's the case then the SFA are entitled to get involved. By fining him and apologising the club and player have accepted his guilt which I'm sure the SFA will use in their case.}

It's a pain in the backside and something most of us used as an 'excuse' as teenagers. Except we all know Parents were good at ruling out 'what about' as an excuse lol

Whataboutery was always a lame excuse and usually used out of context, or not strictly the truth.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2. Neither do i. Lawell is embarrassing himself and the club by fighting SFA. Is he now that far up himself he thinks because its been dealt with "in house" SFA has no right? just shows you how ridiculous football regulations are becoming.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Celtic. I emailed them on Monday asking if they would be willing tp donate 26 programmes and Celtic views for my 2 boys under 9s football trip to Holland which is gping to be a long bus ride. Thus far they are the only club to reply. The rangers hamilton accies amd motherwell as well as the sfa and spfl have been contacted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Best person to contact at Accies is Scott Struthers, but I wouldn't hold my breath on getting anything for free from him!
