Dembele seems just as excited about signing for us as we are about the signing of him! That's the way it should be! Ed I know your not a fan of Rodgers but he does have appeal to a better calibre of player! I'm on board as I was with RD but that didn't work out! Wonder who else we are targeting it's the over due excitement we've all been dew for many years!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Just because I didn't act like a 16 year old that's just lost his virginity when Rodgers was appointed doesn't mean I'm not a fan. I'm simply underwhelmed by the appointment and have explained numerous times why I feel like that. For the long term good of Celtic I just hope he's learnt from his numerous past mistakes and howlers.}

30 Jun 2016 12:50:16
ED007 SIXTEEN! HAMILTON! you must have been a slow developer lol.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I had to keep it legal, Tim. (angel)

30 Jun 2016 15:03:02
Haha Tim btw What do you think about tonight's game in terms of tips. Saw offering both to win on penalties at 7 to 1.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2016 15:37:42
@Daviebhoy I think it will go to extra time so your penalties bet looks good to me. Also think both teams will score and Lewandowski should start scoring soon, although his colleague Blasanowski (spelling? ) also looks good, for Portugal daft to overlook Ronaldo to score but again Nani has been outscoring him.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 21:21:47
Ed have you heard anything about further talks taking place with Villa for Sinclair? Overall his stats are average. However, 35 goals in 90 games under Rodgers (1 year in EPL 1 year in Championship) is pretty impressive for a winger. Can see his missus becoming a bit of sideshow if it happens.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - There were more talks over the weekend but they've still not agreed a fee.}

29 Jun 2016 23:33:12
Lm 67 his only good spell was at swansea . loaned out 8 times in his career and the fact a piss poor villa don't want him speaks volumes imo.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - This is just a hunch but I was thinking that Sinclair has a relegation release clause in his contract and Celtic don't want to pay that - which they are quite entitled to do in my opinion. The player wants out, Villa will let him go for the release clause and if nobody pays that then they'll need to negotiate before the club give us permission to talk to the player.
As far as I know Villa haven't let us speak to Sinclair yet but that came to me as about 4th hand information through a player that knows a player kind of thing.}

30 Jun 2016 01:04:23
Deep River Bhoy is he not still young though? Villa are diabolical at moment. An example of what we are going to see a lot more of in near future. Rich people buying football clubs as luxury toys, getting bored of them and throwing them away.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2016 08:48:34
Sinclair was standout for Villa early on in the season, but eventually got dragged down with the overall performances. When given the chance at City he played some really nice football and was outstanding at Swansea. He signed for City for similar reason as Delph so they could meet homegrown player status quo. I think the lad had just made some bad moves and IMO could be a great signing back with BR who has show faith in him before. reckon all he is lacking is a bit of confidence atm.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2016 08:09:38
Cheers Ed. Not wholly convinced by the signing, however, after 2 years of moaning about how shocking it was that our manager didn't have a big say in transfers, its good that the new man now appears to have a major influence in our signings. Just got to trust his judgement and hope the signings work out.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2016 12:27:53
How did BR have a say we have scouting Dembele since January 6 months before BR took the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2016 14:13:13
Marco

Any team with a decent scouting system or internet connection would know who was becoming available on a free in the Summer.

I'm sure we have scouted more than a few players in January who Rodgers will have been asked about and he has either turned down or missed out on.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 22:10:38
I am looking forward too what else celtic have up there sleeve. But I'm now thinking the possibility of Steven Gérard playing for us on there winter break for a few months maybe an important time of the season. Just wishful thinking but way it's going who knows.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

30 Jun 2016 11:25:42
That's the kind of thinking I like. Think big, as we are a big club. Imagine that Gerrard. I'm still waiting on the mighty Zlatan.

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Jul 2016 00:03:30
Listen B Rodgers is trying to build a very good team for now and the future . I fail to see how a Gerrard 2 or 3 years past his best could be of any assistance as a player for us . The man has earned enough money in his long career without coming to us and taking a few hundred thousand for 2/ 3.months occupying the position of a young player who IMO needs the time on the pitch to develop.

Mulgrew spotted in a gym in Hillington working his ass off for season ahead.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

29 Jun 2016 22:13:00
Good idea mate but want balance not a left footer at right back. Hope better balance this season. I'm sure there was one game where there was 8 or 9 left footers out 11.

Agree1 Disagree2

29 Jun 2016 21:00:55
How about this idea, with the injury situation of Lustig and the problems with Janko, as we have enough midfielders why not move Johansen to right back, he has the capacity to get up and down the park all day.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

29 Jun 2016 22:02:42
I typically prefer my right backs to be right footed and left backs to be left footed so it's a no for me thought we were going for some Chelsea youngster for right back anyhow?

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 22:07:57
Tim, I think he would be poor at defending set pieces due to him being vertically challenged. Lustig is 6' 2" i think. At least ambrose is tall and is a decent header of the ball despite his obvious faults.

29 Jun 2016 20:33:25
Kieran Tierney
Paddy Roberts
Kristoffer Ajer
Moussa Dembélé
we are building quite a team of wonder kids!
Football Manger who has one of the biggest scouting networks in the world rate all these players in the wonder kid bracket!
Hopefully the future is bright!

Roberts just now sadly is only on loan from Man city but yes hopefully long may it continue with the others.

30 Jun 2016 09:06:05
does anybody know if there's a buy option for roberts after his loan ends?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2016 16:17:15
Go look at what man City paid for him and see if u really need to ask that.

Biton Johanson brown injury riddled seasons and played when not fit. armstrong dissapointing do we put it down to a bad season or do we punt and make way for Henderson christie ajer mgregor? . also with dembele coming in would anybody take a big offer for rogic?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

29 Jun 2016 18:55:44
I'd let one of the 4 go I reckon. And no to any Rogic offers.

Agree4 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 19:08:06
Armstrong is a good player and should be kept. He should have been given chance in the middle when other players were injured or off form.
Rogic is a cracking player but if he is refusing to sign a new contract then sell him.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 19:14:42
What about Scott Allan, is his chance over, did he even travel for preseason.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 19:28:28
I'd sell them in order of Bitton, Johansson, Armstrong, Rogic. Would want to keep Armstrong and Rogic more tham first 2 I as think best is yet to come from them.

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 20:04:51
Armsrong showed flashes of what he can do and not in his preferred position. Rogic needs to be kept. Been really disappointed in McKay-Stevens so would probably punt. I honestly think johansson could be great for BR. His pressing game suits him. I'd sell biton, Forrest and commons too. That still leaves Armstrong, johansson, brown, Ajer, Henderson, Allan (can't really comment) , Nesbit, mulgrew (maybe) .

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 20:06:34
I think yous got a good buy getting the boy from Fulham it's heating up send it on.

29 Jun 2016 20:08:13
Dembeles a striker rogic a midfielder anybody else?

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Jun 2016 20:50:39
Mally . He usually plays behind griff almost like a second striker. if we go 433 where does he fit in. in a 3 man mid I don't think he would be mobile enough.

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Jun 2016 21:15:41
Rogic for me is a fantastic player who I hope BR will make the most of.

Agree2 Disagree2

29 Jun 2016 14:58:15
ED, I read yesterday you saying that Spurs bid £6million for Dembele in January, do you know if Fulham rejected that bid?, it seems strange if they did seeing that we have signed him for next to nothing. Or did Dembele tell them he didn't want to go there?, which again seems strange as you would have thought that he would get a better deal at Spurs than we could offer him.
I'm not complaining about it, I just wondered what the story was behind it.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Basically Dembele wasn't willing to go back on loan to Fulham. Spurs were willing to pay a premium to take him in January and still give the player a decent signing on fee but issues arose surrounding the possibility of loaning him back. Whilst it was what Fulham wanted and Spurs would have been happy with that, the player wanted the move to happen immediately.
Just out of interest here is the note's we had on Dembele in the January window:

Very, very unlikely for January but don’t rule out getting involved in a deal in the summer: Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been aware of Moussa Dembele since his time at PSG and were both interested in signing him when he opted for Fulham as a 16 year old. Newcastle, Lille, Napoli, Everton and Spurs have also been looking at Dembele since the start of the season.
A move in January seems unlikely and the player will need to be advised that he doesn't end up moving only to be sat on the bench or playing in the reserves.

29 Jun 2016 17:09:33
Read a blog about the failed move from a Fulham fan.
He said that it would have cost Fulham more than the 6 million if he wasn't there because they would have more than likely been relegated

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 17:21:17
My Tim pal has updated me on Dembele's fee/ wages etc. (he saw it online but not on a Celtic site)
We already knew of development fee around £500k to Fulham
The player himself is on basic £20/ £25k weekly with bonuses and a sign on fee around £250k, so Celtic have not broke their wage structure just yet.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 17:46:44
Thanks for that ED, I've not seen him play, but looking at the list of clubs that have shown interest in him, he must be a decent player, we seem to have done well in landing him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's no doubts the lad's talent or potential, Gerry.}

29 Jun 2016 14:09:45
Hey Ed was wondering if you had heard any change to Janko situation? See him training with squad and wondering wether the arrival of BR may have meant he was not as desperate to head back down South as previously reported? Also noticed talk of the young Chelsea RB have died down.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It does seem to have calmed down and I've not heard anything about Janko still pushing to leave so perhaps Rodgers appointment has made him have a change of heart. I'll ask Ed002 about Aina next time I'm talking to her but we have definitely made him an offer mate.}

29 Jun 2016 17:50:43
Thanks Ed. Would be happy to keep Janko for at least a season if he has changed his tune, as I think if he stays fit, we have a player. Only concern is defensivly he looked a bit fragile in the few games we actually saw him.

Hi guys managed to get my hands on the new Black Celtic top, my thoughts are its so so on the colours / design but again as our home top the quality is good and it hangs well, don't like the long sleeve version, better with short sleeve.
Im sure it will look better with the whole kit?

On another note i see we are still looking at Sinclair and Duffy get them in and the team is taking a very good shape under BR.

HH.

Who would everyones starting line up for next season be? i'm looking forward to see how BR will set his team up, was sick of the lone wolf last season, hoping to see a more balanced play. Heres what i'd like to see.

Any other GK
Lustig Simunovic Sviatchenko Tierney

Johansen Brown Ajer/ Biton

Roberts Griffths Dembele

What you guys think? Midfield was a tough one, but i'd imagine there will be a few changes yet to come.

Brown and Biton were both ineffective for most of last season and can tend to slow the play down.
Any three from Rogic, Henderson, Christie, Johansen, Ajer and Armstrong in the formation you put could also be considered, but I agree there will be more additions.

Morning Ed.

Do you know if Henderson or O'Connell travelled with the squad for pre. season training. For both players I feel it's sh*t or get off the pot year.

Thanks, hope all good.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I know O'Connell and Jamie McCart, Chris's son who is also a CB have travelled to Slovenia but it doesn't look like Henderson travelled. He could be on an extended holiday though as remember his season finished after everyone else's.}

29 Jun 2016 13:38:11
Ed, on the STV news site it showed to players going into the airport to check in and Liam Henderson was right behind Broony.

I'll see if I can dig out the photo as I I was really pleased to see him back.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I tried to find a pic of him and couldn't but I'm not doubting you mate, his dashing good looks are hard to miss. Cheers for letting us know. (yes)

{Ed007's Note - Isn't he 'injured'?}

29 Jun 2016 14:10:35
Thanks Bhoys. Personally I'd try O'Connell before I'd try Ambrose or Boyota but I know the CL qualifiers are not ideal for finding out whether a player can sink or swim.

Commons is not going to appear until all the hard pre- season work has been completed . His woman is on Twitter everyday now. Just to keep his name in everyone's mind.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 15:52:59
Why is anyone following a WAG on Twitter?
I would like to see some of our own CB's given a run out this year, but it would not be fair in the CL qualifiers. Any mistakes and it would be too hard to recover.
We as fans can be quick to tar someone as a failure.
Also the success of KT would mean more would be expected from our youth players, but in reality KT is
Probably an exception, however I would love to be proved wrong.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 08:10:35
Ed, any update on the lad elyounoussi from molde? Do we still have and interest or has Rodgers shot down our previous interest when deila was in charge?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It looks like any move for Elyounoussi is dead in the water. Getting anything done was always going to be extremely difficult after what happened in January.}

29 Jun 2016 18:10:12
What happened in January Ed?

Don't tell me we did another Kramaric.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yep. The deal for Elyounoussi was all ready to be finalised when Dudu Dahan contacted PL/JP to say that his client CKR needed out of Holland asap. That killed the Elyounoussi deal stone dead and the player, his agent and Molde weren't too happy that they had all been left kicking their heels.}

29 Jun 2016 21:09:13
I haven't seen the guy play but the way that people have been raving on about him compared to the history with CKR it sounds like a strange decision. Wouldn't be the first time though.

Hopefully learned a few lessons after getting burned at least twice like this!

That's poor hearing that. Takes a bit of a shine off the Dembele deal for me.

Quick Poll:

Toure, Caulker or Duffy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jun 2016 12:18:36
Don't know much about Duffy, but between caulker and toure I'd go for toure. Maybe get his brother in as well, I heard he's not bad lol.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 12:41:05
If we are looking long term then it would be Caulker for me. Happy with Toure for a year though. Not sure if Duffy is good enough but I'll give him a chance if he signs.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 12:45:33
I don't know much about Duffy other than his games in the Euros there, however I reckon Caulker would be our best shout, providing the price is right. He's got the ability and has 10 years on Toure, who granted has bags of experience but he's probably only got 1 year left in him.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 10:56:36
Neven Subotic is said to be available for £3/ 4M and Köln are the current favourites to sign him from Dortmund. At 27 he would be a fantastic signing. Pie in the sky perhaps.

This may be wishful thinking and just me being a bit of a greedy git, but I was a wee bit surprised that Dembélé wasn't given the No.7 jersey. Perhaps the club have another gem hidden up their sleeve?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2016 03:00:56
Its easy to forget about that lump of wood Ciftci Kevbhoy, i wish we could all forget about him lol. He makes Cascarino look good lol. I would like to think Rodgers has made his mind up about him after only a few training sessions, and as soon as an offer comes in for him he will be off.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 08:01:17
delighted at the prospect of griffiths, dembele and roberts playing together that trio will bring pace, goals and plenty of excitement now onto the young signing AJER paying £750,000 for him makes me think this bhoy could be a starter if he shows what he is capable of and now i'm thinking if these 4 are in the starting 11 then with the current players we have who plays alongside them thoughts bhoys n ghirls H. H.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Jun 2016 11:43:47
I thought ajer looked a bit clumsy in some of the videos and maybe not as technically gifted as some. Decent pace, good tackler, gets stuck in and pops up with a few goals so as a DM I think he could do well. Depending how he develops and how BR uses him he could be good at protecting the defense. Might be a bit early for him to be first pick but he give's us options.
